Wonder how Apple's feeling about Google having named it "Pages".
I think it is time to get the lawyers busy and show those evil, Chinese Facist police stoolies a thing or two.
That is what I think.

How you doing, Dad?
I'll go with higher
on January 1, 2008 than it is now.
When might I sell
Don't know - there is some stuff brewing with Anglo Platinum that may be beneficial to ANO. As long as it keeps going up, I'll probably hold and sell into weakness - unlike the habits of successful traders :).
To be honest, I bought it cause a technical trader who I trust said it was a good time to. He sold yesterday, I decided to hold a while longer. May end up being a long term holding - kinda like GPXM which I bought at .143 last year.
Most of my buy/hold/sell decisions are made on either fundamental analysis, emotion, or recommendations from people I have known and who I trust. I look at charts some when deciding whether to buy now or wait a bit, but I am not much of a chartist - or much of a trader.
OT throwing rings at ducks
Anoorq (ANO) bought Feb 16. Nice.
AAPL doing all right also, but I would be fine with a "load up the truck" moment in the next few months.
Bootz,
Move a cash and wait. Maybe a 'back up the truck' moment will come. If not, you oughta be making ~4% on the cash :).
Ron
Being the impusilve fellow that I am :)
I bought a few more shares as soon as I read the announcement, back about 25 cents ago. May have been folly, veremos.
Star stock of the past could of days for me: ANO
JimisJim OT
I don't know how likely it is. I know that the world is weird and getting weirder :). We could have contained Iraq at a much lower cost than invading it, giving us far more resources to deal with Afghanistan and terrorism, but the US did not go that route.
There has been too much done during this administration that has not made good sense that I hesitate to say what is likely or not likely.
Jim And if the US gave permission for such a bomb raid
Gave permission? They'd be giving the order to carry it out.
OT real estate Portland
Still pretty good. Time on market declined from Dec 04 to Dec 05. Urban growth zone boundaries get expanded every couple of years, but still provide some limits to the areas in which housing can be built.
New building is mostly real high density - a lot of 5,000 square foot lots with 3,000 square foot houses on them. We live in the most desireable school district, and there is very little land available in it. People are buying old houses on 10-15,000 sq. ft. lots, tearing them down and building new big houses on them.
Portland is also the lowest price urban housing market on the left coast.
Should be an interesting year. We can gut out a drop since our house has close to doubled in value over the past 5 years. Last year our neighborhood appreciated at twice the rate of the Portland metro market - 40% compared to 20%. We plan to cash out and move to Mexico in 4-5 years, so we are not disinterested observers :).
Condo market it hot - lots of conversions going on and 4 big towers going up on previously industrial land by the Willamette River just south of downtown.
Glad I don't live in San Jose. How are things in your market, lango?
Alt, of course we would not take them out
We sold them the bunker buster bombs they will use on the raid.
OT: JimisJim
You think they would ask permission??
OT: Alt, energy
I have lightened up some on energy stock over the past couple of weeks. Still have some through two mutual funds, RSNRX - about 65% energy in its holdings as of last report, spread across sub-sectors - and PBW - an alternate/green energy ETF.
I think this weekend's action in Nigeria will have a more immediate effect than the prospects in the Middle East.
You do believe in contrarian portents, don't you?
No, I believe in potions - gizzard of hen, eye of newt kind of stuff :).
Bootz, it is up what, over 7 bucks a share sinces its intraday low on Friday (62.90) and you want something worse than a train wreck?
Whazzup with that?
yep, still have redf - gotta do something while gold is coming down off a top :)
RIAA that is a no brainer
They make more money from subscription services. They want to take Apple down a notch. Idiotas.
Amazon preparing to enter music bus
branded players, sub service. Yawn.
Train wreck.
Over what time frame?
Tarmar, buy on dips?
If I were to decide to go back to where I was in AAPL in mid-January, I'd be looking at two or three more buys. I think there is plenty of time to do that. I would sure leave some cash available for after this quarter's report, and I am not even sure what AAPL will do after that :)
OT Google - have recent entrants cut their losses? EOM
I have no uncanny sense of anything.
Situations like this are pretty easy.
Pretty much a lay-up in basketball, mostly
Zoom to earnings - sell before announcement
Down after earnings
Watch it fall.
At some point start rebuilding position
If you think it is worth a position.
Depends on one's taste for risk, and whatever one puts into the decision process in terms of timing. I said in the past 6 months and still think that Apple will be a wealth creator over the next few years.
I did not drink Kool-aid, though. Like chimpanzees, I am capable of learning. Sometimes I can even apply the right learning to the right situation. Not everytime, but more often than I used to. Now that I have written this crap, watch AAPL fall like a rock :). I'll be long out before it hits bottom, if it were to do that. Will adjust stop-loss upward this evening
Did end up nibbling on AAPL
Buying a small amount before I left for work this morning. Don't remember the exact price, but can report that after working hours if anyone is interested.
OT: with all that cash
I bought a bit of REDF on Thursday and Friday and some GG this in pre-mkt this morning. Still have quite a bit of cash. Not nibbling on AAPL, but I am holding some.
OT: Bottom line is
Special Prosecutor Fitzgerald, largely acclaimed as non-political, competent and tough, has filed papers saying Scooter's superiors told him to leak information from a National Intelligence Estimate. That is against the law.
Lewis' superior was Dick Cheney. Cheney only has one superior. One of the two probably violated the law. These are revelations of crimes relating to their public duties as President and Vice-President - far more substantive, it seems, than lying to a grand jury about personal misbehavior.
If both of them were as serious about the Valerie Plame-Wilson thing as they are about the release of information revealing their violations of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, they would have told us what they surely know, namely who violated the law forbidding the disclosure of CIA agents.
They should have their day in court. I hope they get it.
Partly OT: This is a drag.
Apple and metals going down in unison, and me sitting on a pretty good cash hoard.
The Gold Bugs Index is closed at 301, down from its 52 week high of 349. Might find support here. If not technically minded folks say to look at 260-270. I can do that. If it hits that 260- 270 and bounces off of there, I be buying.
Apple, that's another ball of wax. I am pretty sure I'll buy around 60.
Don't wanna buy too soon.
OT: I think it is time for ya'll remember your manners or take a time out for awhile. All of you, so don't make us suffer through of round of he did, she did posts. Just be nice right now or take a self-imposed time out.
I ain't no moderator
I am usually moderate
but I am getting a bit
tired of the monkey feces
being flung around these parts
And I know I have flung my share in the past.
Couples counseling for Bootz and his repartee partner as well.
Blue and lango
Go into couples counseling already *laugh*
Bootz, green
Not much and not by much. 15 minutew ago PBW was up a penny and GPXM was flat. The half of my portfolio that is in the money market fund awaiting deployment is earning around 4%. Other than that it is a all a red express.
This too shall pass
LisaAu: Lots of air under the stock at this point. Will AAPL soon challenge the 45 support region?
If only. I would become giddy with excitement at such a gift.
roni must be buying
nope - nibbled on a silver miner late morning, but other than that, nada. Still way heavy cash and intending to stay that way for awhile. Have enough in equities to gain a bit from upside, not get hurt too badly by downside. Still split between (though at lower quantities) energy, metals, Apple, and misc. tech, but cash is by far my largest position.
Is it time to catch the knife
I dunno. If going in, I'd suggest a partial position rather than going all in. I am not going in today
Go AAPL. It wants less :) EOM
The farther AAPL drops
The better the set-up for the next low risk entry. I'd love to see another 10-15%
Not so nimble as
Wanting to keep most of my gains - goddess knows I have given them back plenty of times in the past :). I used to hate being more than 5-10% cash. I like being invested when there is a great chance that I will make money. Otherwise, the 4% the money market fund at fidelity lists is better than having a lot of it out in risky investments.
Guess you go up and down and up and down and down for a decade or so you start learning something. Helps to have some firm goals in place now instead of just having a fuzzy distant point in time by which it would be nice if the IRA had more money in it.
AAPL knife
Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned that range at which I might buy. Maybe if it gets there too fast, I'll have to reconsider.
Thanks dilleet. eom.
