"In both cases – Yang and DNAPrint – “blind” studies of individuals correctly identify majority race with ~ 100% accuracy, as well as identify, in many cases, significant admixture consistent with known population histories and with individual phenotypes. The point being, in the last analysis, is that while a more perfect analysis would be able to detect “true ancestry” and complete “population diversity” (including Australian aboriginals, Papuans, etc.), the more limited set of AIMs and parental populations are currently sufficient to identify major racial and sub-racial populations, and admixture of these, by observing the patterns of genetic components characteristic of each group."

Oops...the Sargeant INVESTIGATING
Was just watching the KNBC-TV, 5p.m. evening news and the story that was being covered was the Mammoth Lakes murder. DNAP was not mentioned by name, but, the Sargeant investing the crime said that there is no other crime laboratory in the world that does this type of testing. Michrodrial DNA (sp.?) The end-result photograph shown was the one that had been posted w/the story on IHUB.
If I get more information, I will post. (I must say it was exciting viewing this on a major network)
Take care all,
Ann

DNAP - The Opportunity:
DNAPrint™ genomics, Inc. is a cutting edge company. We are concentrating our efforts in three distinct areas; Pharmacogenomics, Forensics, and Consumer Products. In addition we provide contract-based, fee-for-service genotyping to select industrial partners. Our aim is to continue to research and develop novel products in each of these market areas and to be a leader in genomics technologies.
Over the next 10 to 15 years, the worldwide pharmaceutical market is expected to grow from about $300+ billion (2003 data on world-wide pharmaceutical industry reports) to nearly a trillion dollars (estimate based on annualized average growth rate of 12%+ per year, compounded for 10 years or 8+% compounded annually for 15 years), driven primarily by the flood of new drug targets some of them having been identified through genomics and through the co-development of drugs and accompanying genomics response tests. The primary objective of DNAPrint™‘s near term research and development efforts in pharmacogenomics will be to expand our library of predictive drug response tests to include multiple therapeutic areas which include commonly used FDA approved drug therapies. Longer term, this work will provide us the expertise to apply pharmacogenomics methods to our own developing drug pipeline, to reduce the risk and expense of the clinical trial process. A primary purpose of Phase II is for the drug-developer to learn how to improve the drug’s response and narrow the patient population for the pivotal Phase III; if the drug works better in a segment of the population then the company can design Phase III to focus on that segment and restrict post-approval marketing to the same. However, most pharmaceutical companies and Clinical Research Organizations (CRO’s) that run the trials; still do not employ powerful genome-based methods to characterize their patients during the trial process. We hope that by using our technology, we will be able to target our drugs to segments of the population that are genetically compatible and thereby enjoy a higher trial and post-market success rate. In many respects, we hope our medicines will be more compatible with our patients over a longer period of time.
The forensic market is expected to grow to $500 million in sales per year by 2005 according to Data Monitor. There are approximately 1,200,000 reported incidents of violent crime (rape, robbery, and aggravated assault) in the U.S. each year and for these types of crimes, DNA evidence is often left at the crime scene or on the victim’s body. Of these 1.2 million reported incidents, only about 600,000 cases result in arrests. For many of the cases, there are no human eye-witnesses and database searches intended to provide “bar-code” STR matches between DNA found at the crime scene and known, previously convicted felons those matches are still of very low frequency, according to the National Institutes of Justice reports. Forensic DNA tests for the inference of physical appearance could enable a greater degree of success in helping police detectives identify and apprehend violent criminals. It is our goal to continue to expand our offerings to this market area and to provide powerful tools with a predictive capability for use by all federal, state and local agencies of law enforcement.
The genotyping market is comprised of academic and commercial organizations that encompass a wide range of genomic service needs. We will continue to provide expert services to this market that range from sequencing and genotyping to the entire process of SNP discovery.
The genealogy market is expected to grow 5% annually and the total world market is currently estimated at $75 million. DNAPrint™ is one of the first companies to offer DNA tests for the inference of genetic heritage. Our goal is to continue to improve upon our ANCESTRYbyDNA™ and EURODNA™ service lines and to continue to expand this market area.
DNAPrint™ genomics is dedicated to building and supplying genomic based products and services and our technology platform is one of the first in the world to have produced assays for inferring ancestry and predicting elements of phenotype (physical appearance, drug response, and maybe someday, disease expression etc.).

Remember, back then he was Jever00 (originally) - NOT Jever000, (currently) - hence, the current Jever doesn't seem to be one and the same alias. Why would Jever00 need to convert to Jever000? I can't see any other logical explanation.
Whatever, I guess...
