I assume we finally agree on something? :-/ /e
Almost there...
we need to break through $1.82 convincingly to light the fire. Lots of "dry kindling" above that number. And, energy is starting to wain so maybe not yet.
But, I'm feeling confident that AEZS will go off like a roman candle at some point...maybe after a short rest up here in the $1.70's.

Gingrich is a pathological, cynical liar ...
and is so good at it that even he believes what he is saying when he is saying it...never mind it totally contradicts the last thing he may have said. (As opposed to Cain/Bachman/Perry GOP flame-outs who are clueless liars...)

More Money in Your Paycheck – The Payroll Tax Cut (Social Security Tax Cut)
by GLEN CRAIG
In late 2010, Congress and President Obama passed new tax laws that take effect in 2011 (Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010).
The Making Work Pay tax credit is gone.
As a result, most people will benefit from a cut in Social Security taxes (also known as Payroll Taxes).
Previously, people paid 6.2% toward Social Security. Under the new law, people will be paying 4.2%, a reduction of 2% in their Social Security tax withholding rate.
That is good news for many Americans as it essentially means a 2% increase in your paycheck.
Under the old Making Work Pay credit, Americans making less than $75,000 were able to save a flat $400 over the course of the year. That amount was spread out over each paycheck.
Comment:
Good God! An Obama tax cut! What's the world coming too...?
Yesterday's dip to $1.58 (actual) satisfies a W2 correction (W2 down math @ .618 was $1.59 predicted). Chart down sloping TA's are flattening and turning north so the near term secondary low may be in. If yes, then a convincing break/close above $1.83 (actual) sets the stage for a strong move to $2.18ish (predicted) before the next computed resistance...then a corrective dip to $1.95ish (predicted) followed by a shot at $2.32ish (predicted) before a larger correction of the whole move $1.45-$2.xxish. (note: predicted numbers are adjustable base on previous actual number achieved)
Preholiday low volume troublesome, but shorts (4.38 million shares/9.6% of float) may not want to be exposed over several days so more covering is probably coming.
All imo of course - just thinking out-loud and worth about what you've paid for it...
A.
Stochastics suggest that we trade sideways/down for a bit now. Rolled over a few days ago. If we hold the 10dma at close then could make another run at $1.80 resistance...if not, could be a week or two till next assult on resistance. Break $1.80 convincingly then a scamper to $2.15-20 range for next resistance...
Big news gets "blue sky" breakout. :)

Can either of you say with a straight face...
that a RepubliCON$ controlled congress would reinstate Glass-Steagll level controls on banking?
Barnhardt's whine...
looks like she misinterpreted her predicament...and to claim "...unflinching moral certainty..." from a capital mgmt firm is just plain hilarious.
Using her own evangelical analogies, this may be GOD'S way of telling her that she should go out and practice her referenced "...animal husbandtry..." instead of doing such to her own clients as a matter of normal business practices.
(...although, perhaps she has had a real religious epiphany and realized that she had become one of the money changer folks Jesus is rumored to have thrown out of the Temple...but I doubt it)
To blame 30 years of disastrous "Reaganomics" culminating with "W's" totally ruinous 8 year term on Obama is at a minimum disingenuous or at worst an obfuscating lie. And to send this to R. Limburger to be announced is equally a hoot. With an eye on the source and delivery system, I am more inclined to think that the real source of Barnhardt's shuttering it's doors (read: failure) is just being covered up by blubbering and Limburger political hate-noise.
"You reap that which you sow..."
The RepubliCON$ are protecting at all cost the ability to be financially suicidal in the Banking and Market driven businesses. Until the Democratic party completely retakes the government and reinstates or further implements protections, controls and Glass-Steagll type law on this subject, this runaway train will not find a station of refuge. Hopefully the 99% (with help from "The Patriotic Millionaires" http://patrioticmillionaires.org/ ) will keep pounding on doors and marching in the streets until it's done.
For example:
HR 1489 to reinstate Glass-Steagall
Introduced by Rep. Kaptur - one of the few Democrats to vote AGAINST the TARP bailout. Co-sponsored by a Republican and a Democrat. It is critically important to stuff these monstrous banks back into a box where they cannot do such great damage to the economy. Since there is no hope of anything like a free market economy as long as the TBTF banks have a stranglehold on the financial system, libertarians and free marketers should support this. There ought to be many more Democrats supporting this already just on anti-corporate principles.
http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h112-1489
To repeal certain provisions of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and revive the separation between commercial banking and the securities business, in the manner provided in the Banking Act of 1933, the so-called "Glass-Steagall Act", and for other purposes.
Breaking up those monsters will destroy a concentration of corrupt power and also enable markets to perform their functions of allocating capital and goods efficiently without the distortion and manipulation of a banking system controlled by a tiny oligarchy.
Top Facts About the Affordable Care Act
11:00 PM, Nov. 12, 2011
The provisions of the Affordable Care Act are being implemented over time. The benefits listed below are currently in effect unless noted.
Families
» Insurance companies can no longer impose lifetime dollar limits on essential health benefits.
» Job-based health plans and new individual plans cannot deny coverage for kids based on a pre-existing condition or disability.
» Parents may cover their young adult children (up to age 26) on their insurance plan.
Individuals
» If you have been uninsured for at least six months and have a health condition, you may be eligible for the Pre-existing Condition Insurance Plan.
» Insurance companies can no longer drop you if you get sick just because you made an honest mistake on your application.
Seniors
» Seniors hitting the prescription drug "donut hole" (coverage gap) receive a 50 percent discount on brand name drugs this year.
» Seniors now will receive many preventive services for free — such as annual check-ups, cancer and other screenings, and shots for the flu, pneumonia, and hepatitis B.
» Due to cracking down on fraud and waste and focusing on preventive care, Medicare's solvency is extended.
Small businesses
» Small businesses with up to 25 employees that provide health insurance may qualify for a tax credit of up to 35 percent. This credit will increase to 50 percent in 2014.
» Employer-based plans that provide insurance for retirees age 55-64 can now get financial assistance through the Early Retiree Reinsurance Program.
» Starting in 2014, small businesses will also be able to purchase insurance through "Affordable Insurance Exchanges" (see below).
Women
» Women now can receive many preventive services with no co-pays (including but not limited to mammograms, cervical cancer screening, and osteoporosis screening for those over 60).
» In mid-2012, the list of free preventive services will expand to include well-woman visits, gestational diabetes screening, breastfeeding supplies, and domestic violence screenings.
» Starting in 2014, insurance companies will no longer be able to deny coverage to women based on "pre-existing conditions" such as pregnancy.
» Starting in 2014, insurance companies will no longer be able to charge women higher premiums than men.
Young adults
» Up to age 26, young adults may be covered on their parent's insurance plan.
» Health plans must also cover many preventive services without cost sharing — such as immunizations and screenings for HIV and other diseases.
More yet to come in the future as ACA is fully implemented…
» Insurance plans will no longer be able to deny coverage based on a pre-existing condition (this is already applicable to children).
» "Affordable Insurance Exchanges" are being created so individuals and small businesses will be able to compare and buy affordable health plans. Members of Congress will be required to purchase their insurance from these exchanges.
» Pregnancy and newborn care, along with vision and dental coverage for children, will be covered in all Exchange plans.
» If your income is less than roughly $88,000 for a family of four and your job doesn't offer affordable coverage, you may get tax credits to help pay for insurance.

Thursday morning federal headlines - Nov. 10, 2011
• It never was a tax, and it was only 15 cents. But still, the administration is dropping a plan to support bonafide, American Christmas trees. The Agriculture Department was planning to set up an industry promotional campaign funded by a small fee on domestic trees. The plan would have been similar to 18 other promotions USDA supports. Many of them are familiar, like the Got Milk or Incredible Edible Egg campaigns. But critics said the Obama administration was out to tax Christmas trees. An Agriculture Department spokesman says the plan is on hold, even though it's "not" a tax. (Federal News Radio)

The Christmas tree....
was first a pagan symbol of the celebration and recognition of the winter solstice, as are all those lights that go up in Dec. The reality is that there was already a thousands of years old party going on around the 21st of Dec. that long predated anyone's birthday (if in fact Jesus birth actually and conveniently occurred anywhere near Dec 25)...you should be happy that there is some energy to promote the Christmas Tree...promotions ain't free you know. Look at the bright side - this is also a nice way to combine church and state. You of all people should be thrilled at that precedent. Stay tuned for more religious promotions taxes: a Minora tax, prayer rug tax, plastic dashboard Jesus tax, a beads de jour tax, a wizards 'n muggles magic wand tax, a fat Budda statue tax, a Jane bug-sweeper brush tax, all manor of incense (a broad tax that covers a lot of stories & legends) tax, an "I survived Jesus camp (
The Corporate Pledge of Allegiance
Published: Wednesday 9 November 2011
Despite what the Supreme Court and Mitt Romney say, corporations aren’t people. (I’ll believe they are when Georgia and Texas start executing them.)
The Court thinks corporations have First Amendment rights to spend as much as they want on politics, and Romney (and most of his fellow Regressives) think they need lower taxes and fewer regulations in order to be competitive.
These positions are absurd on their face. By flooding our democracy with their shareholders’ money, big corporations are violating their shareholders’ First Amendment rights because shareholders aren’t consulted. They’re simultaneously suppressing the First Amendment rights of the rest of us because, given how much money they’re throwing around, we don’t have enough money to be heard.
And they’re indirectly giving non-Americans (that is, all their foreign owners, investors, and executives) a say in how Americans are governed. Pardon me for being old-fashioned but I didn’t think foreign money was supposed to be funneled into American elections.
Romney’s belief big corporations need more money and lower costs in order to create jobs is equally baffling. Big corporations are now sitting on $2 trillion of cash and enjoying near-record profits. The ratio of profits to wages is higher than it’s been since before the Great Depression. And a larger and larger portion of those profits are going to top executives. (CEO pay was 40 times the typical worker in the 1980s; it’s now upwards of 300 times.)
But, hey, if the Supreme Court and regressive Republicans insist big corporations are people and want to treat them as American citizens, then why not demand big corporations take a pledge of allegiance to the United States?
And if they don’t take the pledge, we should boycott them. (Occupiers — are you listening?)
Here’s what a Corporate Pledge of Allegiance might look like:
The Corporate Pledge of Allegiance to the United States
The [fill in blank] company pledges allegiance to the United States of America. To that end:
We pledge to create more jobs in the United States than we create outside the United States, either directly or in our foreign subsidiaries and subcontractors.
If we have to lay off American workers, we will give them severance payments equal to their weekly wage times the number of months they’ve worked for us.
We further pledge that no more than 20 percent of our total labor costs will be outsourced abroad.
We pledge to keep a lid on executive pay so no executive is paid more than 50 times the median pay of American workers. We define “pay” to include salary, bonuses, health benefits, pension benefits, deferred salary, stock options, and every other form of compensation.
We pledge to pay at least 30 percent of money earned in the United States in taxes to the United States. We won’t shift our money to offshore tax havens and won’t use accounting gimmicks to fake how much we earn.
We pledge not to use our money to influence elections.
Companies that make the pledge are free to use it in their ads over the Christmas shopping season.

AND, a great place to get your fingers burnt.
The stochastics rolled over @ $1.80, five days ago so this drop would have been expected anyway...and recent news is probably why. Someone always knows early...which is why TA usually front runs price.
And, for the last two years AEZS price has plunged prior to earnings. So again, a drop is consistent to the historical pattern.

The Austerity Death-Trap
Published: Thursday 20 October 2011

“Under these circumstances, the harder a country works to cut its debt, the worse the ratio becomes — because the economy shrinks even faster.”
Ron Paul’s newly-unveiled economic plan – promising to cut $1 trillion from the federal budget in year one (presumably that means 2013) – is only slightly more ambitious than what we’re hearing from other Republican candidates. They’re all calling for major spending cuts starting as soon as possible.
What are they smoking?
Can we just put ideology aside for a moment and be clear about the facts? Consumer spending (70 percent of the economy) is flat or dropping because consumers are losing their jobs and wages, and don’t have the dough. And busi nesses aren’t hiring because they don’t have enough customers.
The only way out of this vicious cycle is for the government – the spender of last resort – to boost the economy. The regressives are all calling for the opposite.
But even without these hare-brained Republican plans, we’re heading in their direction anyway. Unless Republicans agree to a budget deal before the end of the year (don’t hold your breath), the temporary payroll tax cuts and extended unemployment benefits we have now will end.
The result will be the most stringent fiscal tightening of any large economy in the world.
Together with ongoing cuts at the state and local government level, the scale of this fiscal contraction would be almost unprecedented.
It will come at a time when 25 million are Americans looking for full-time work, median incomes are dropping, home foreclosures rising, and a record 37 percent of American families with young children are in poverty.
To call this economic lunacy is to understate the point.
And if you think 2011 is bad, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.
Even if you’re a deficit hawk this is nuts. Instead of reducing the ratio of debt to the size of the overall economy, this strategy increases the ratio because it causes the economy to shrink.
Call it the austerity death trap.
Under these circumstances, the harder a country works to cut its debt, the worse the ratio becomes — because the economy shrinks even faster.
Greece is already in the trap. Spain and Italy are perilously close. Even Britain, France, and Germany are tip-toeing up to it. And now us.
Deficit hawks have to understand: The first step must be to revive growth and jobs. That way, revenues increase and the debt/GDP ratio drops. Only then – when the economy is back on track – do you start cutting.
At the start of the Clinton administration the annual budget deficit was almost $300 billion. But rather than take a meat-axe to spending, we pushed for growth, as did the Fed. The expansion of the 1990s made it easy to get the budget under control. By 2000 we had a $226 billion surplus.
The austerity trap will even hurt Mitch-McConnell Republicans whose top priority is to “make sure Obama is a one-term president.”
While it increases the likelihood of this Republican goal, it doesn’t stop there. Because the austerity trap will last for many years, any Republican successor will also be a one-termer.

Mormon campaign claims politically neutral? Right...
'I'm a Mormon' campaign hits Seattle airwaves, billboards
Chris Egert
KIRO 7 Eyewitness News

Updated: 1:26 pm PDT October 17, 2011
SEATTLE -- You may have seen the billboards on the side of Metro buses or perhaps a commercial on TV: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is spending big bucks on a public relations campaign called "I'm a Mormon."
On TV, online and on the sides of buses, the Mormon Church has selected Western Washington as one of a dozen places in the country to run the "I'm a Mormon" campaign.
Local church leaders say the media blitz did not start recently because two Mormons are vying for the Republican nomination for President.
"The Church is politically neutral on elections, whether they are at the local or the national level," said Sam Baxter, a local church leader.
The commercials began running Oct. 3, just a few days after the Latter Day Saints' "Northwest Day of Service."
This is the second year of the campaign.
Beyond Seattle and Spokane, it is also currently taking place in 10 other cities around the country.
Officially, the Church doesn't explain why it is targeting these specific cities or how much money it is spending.
"I think it was a broad brush of large and small cities from all different geographic locations of the country. And I'm actually interested as well to see the results of the media campaign in those cities," said Baxter.
Part of the ad campaign is to address stereotypes of the Mormon Church and to educate the differences between LDS and other forms of Christianity.
Local leader Sam Baxter says the mission is not to offend.
"If they are interested in the church -- wonderful. And if they are not, then we are grateful that they watched the ad. And if it prompts curiosity, wonderful -- and it gives us a chance to get to know our friends and neighbors better," said Baxter.
There are 260,000 members of the Mormon Church in Washington and approximately 100,000 in the Puget Sound.
The "I'm a Mormon" campaign runs through March 2012.
This is the second year of the campaign.
Last year, it appeared in Colorado Springs; Rochester, N.Y.; Minneapolis; St. Louis; Pittsburgh; Oklahoma City; Baton Rouge, La.; Tucson; and Jacksonville, Fla.

But New Poll Shows 54 Percent Of Americans Have Favorable Views Of Protesters
Time Poll Finds That 54 Percent Of Public Has "Very Favorable" Or "Somewhat Favorable" Views Of Protesters. An October 9-10 poll published by Time magazine shows that 25 percent of those polled have a "very favorable" view and 29 percent had "somewhat favorable views" of the protesters "gathering on Wall Street in New York City and some other cities." A post about the poll on Time's blog Swampland stated:
A closer look at the poll's cross-tabs provides a fuller picture of the movement's diverse support. Occupy Wall Street enjoys majority backing among men (57%) and women (51%), young (60% of respondents 18 to 34) and old (51%). Self-identified Democrats, unsurprisingly, comprise the left-leaning movement's largest bloc, with 66% professing support. But more than half of independents (55%) harbor favorable views of the protesters, as do a third of Republicans. [Swampland, Time, 10/13/11; 10/13/11]
Time: "Twice As Many Respondents (54%) Have A Favorable Impression Of The Eclectic Band Massing In Lower Manhattan's Zuccotti Park Than Of [The Tea Party]." The Swampland post also noted:
Fox News figures have called the Occupy Wall Street protests a "fringe" movement and have spent weeks attacking the protesters. But a new Time magazine poll shows that the protesters are supported by a majority of Americans, and their causes are supported by large majorities of the public -- including, in some cases, by most Republicans.
Varney Calls Protesters "Fringe Of The Fringe Of The Fringe"
Varney: Demonstrators Are The "Fringe Of The Fringe Of The Fringe." On the October 14 edition of Fox News' Fox & Friends, Fox Business host Stuart Varney claimed:
VARNEY: I think the numbers [of protesters] start to fade away. Rain and cold will do that to demonstrators. I -- they haven't got the numbers. This is not a movement, certainly in New York, that's numbered in the thousands. It's a few hundred, mostly. And let's not forget, it's the fringe of the fringe of the fringe. That's who is down there demonstrating. And the rest, those who are not fringe, fringe, fringe people, they're flat-out socialists. [Fox News, Fox & Friends, 10/14/11]
And Fox Has Repeatedly Attacked Protesters, Calling Them "Petulant Little Children" Sitting "In Their Own Squalor"
Kilmeade: Protesters "Sit In Their Own Squalor All Day." On the October 11 edition of Fox News' Fox & Friends, co-host Brian Kilmeade claimed Occupy Wall Street protesters "sit in their own squalor all day." [Fox News, Fox & Friends, 10/11/11, via Media Matters]
Bolling: Occupy Wall Street Protesters "Do Seem Like Petulant Little Children." On the October 10 edition of Fox News' Your World, guest host Eric Bolling hosted syndicated columnist Star Parker to attack the Occupy Wall Street protests. Bolling introduced the segment by claiming that "they do seem like petulant little children ... how about going out and trying to find a job instead?" [Fox News, Your World, 10/10/11, via Media Matters]
Crowley: Protesters Are "Useful Idiots Who Probably Haven't Paid Much In Taxes Their Whole Life." On the October 10 edition of Fox News' Your World, Fox News contributor Monica Crowley called the protesters "useful idiots who probably haven't paid much in taxes their whole life, have no concept -- and all they know is, 'Oh, profit is a four-letter word, corporations and rich folks -- millionaires and billionaires are evil, they need to be taxed more.' As if they don't pay enough." [Fox News, Your World, 10/10/11, via Media Matters]
Doocy Quotes NY Post To Claim "Number One Reason" People Attend The Protest Is "Free Food." On the October 11 edition of Fox News' Fox & Friends, co-host Gretchen Carlson claimed she "wanted to give you a flavor of some of the people who are" at the protests. Fox & Friends then showed a picture of an alleged "fugitive" who they said "needs some methadone every day." Carlson then showed an image of a man who was allegedly teaching protesters "how to pick a set of handcuffs with a bobby pin." Co-host Steve Doocy concluded the segment by citing a New York Post article to claim that the "number one reason people are -- you know the crowd is growing -- number one reason people are going to this thing: food, there is free food for everybody." [Fox News, Fox & Friends, 10/10/11, via Media Matters]
Fox's Trotta On Occupy Wall Street Website: "What You Will Read Is The Ravings Of What Sounds Like The Unabomber." On the October 8 edition of Fox News' America's News HQ, Fox News contributor Liz Trotta claimed, "I advise anybody who has a sense of humor left about this to go to OccupyWallStreet.com, and what you will read is the ravings of what sounds like the Unabomber ... it's certainly better going down there and carrying signs than going out and hitting the pavement for a job." [Fox News, America's News HQ, 10/8/11, via Media Matters]
Fox's Johnson: Wall Street Protesters Are "The Little Rascals Gone Camping Down In Downtown Manhattan." On the October 6 edition of Fox News' Fox & Friends, Fox News legal analyst Peter Johnson Jr. said of the Occupy Wall Street protesters, "We basically have the Little Rascals gone camping down in downtown Manhattan." Johnson later claimed the protesters have become the "unintentional dupes of the 2012 election." [Fox News, Fox & Friends, 10/6/11, via Media Matters]
But New Poll Shows 54 Percent Of Americans Have Favorable Views Of Protesters
Time Poll Finds That 54 Percent Of Public Has "Very Favorable" Or "Somewhat Favorable" Views Of Protesters. Time: "Twice As Many Respondents (54%) Have A Favorable Impression Of The Eclectic Band Massing In Lower Manhattan's Zuccotti Park Than Of [The Tea Party]." The Swampland post also noted:
One of the juicier nuggets in TIME's wide-ranging new poll is that voters are embracing the Occupy Wall Street movement as they sour on the Tea Party. Twice as many respondents (54%) have a favorable impression of the eclectic band massing in lower Manhattan's Zuccotti Park than of the conservative movement that has, after two years, become a staple of the American political scene. [Swampland, Time, 10/13/11]
And Poll Shows Even Larger Majorities Support Protesters' Objectives
Time Poll Finds More Than Two-Thirds Of Respondents Support Most Of The Protesters' Objectives -- Including Majorities Of Republicans. From the Swampland post:
As the movement has snowballed, it has become -- as the Tea Party did -- the subject of sneers from opponents bent on undermining its objectives and minimizing its influence. Like the Tea Party, it benefits in its incipient stages by venting a broad array of common frustrations. Many of these are vague enough that even Republicans can co-sign them. Of the respondents in TIME's poll familiar with the protests, 86% -- including 77% of Republicans -- agree with the movement's contention that Wall Street and its proxies in Washington exert too much influence over the political process. More than 70%, and 65% of Republicans, think the financial chieftains responsible for dragging the U.S. economy to the brink of implosion in the fall of 2008 should be prosecuted. Other questions reveal a sharper split along partisan lines but nonetheless reveal the strength of economic populism. Nearly 80% of respondents (96% of Democrats and 56% of Republicans) think the class chasm between rich and poor has grown too large, and 68%, including 40% of Republicans, say the affluent should pay more taxes.
