Agree.
even better than your pic of the snow boarding Jedi Atl!!.good find..keep em coming..certainly helps offset the quiet!! Man I wish I was a race car driver ( atleast on that team...)..Have mercy...Leitrim
Hey..
Thanks for that headsup..she goes off @ 3:35 I still have time to get to OTB..!! Nah..with my luck...she'll break down on the back stretch...LOL..I'll just quietly root for another of the Irish dispora..........
Hey Sheriff:
It's Friday and reasonably sunny..what are you
doing on IHUB..??I'll take a swipe on that ...
I think SAIC is still at the table and may
even have a pen in hand..Last CEO update pretty much
eluded that..Was he telling the truth..I think so sure
Hope so...???
Call me kooky..but I 'd bet even Daimler is still around in one way or another..you read saw heard Dr.Z talking about the high milage SUV's and Diesel products in the pipeline...think it was issued here in some form.Dodge may be dumb but everybody wants to make money....anybody remember Jim saying at an Annual about 3-4 years back..The Auto Industry is "going to need this technology.."like they were very far ahead of the curve and given Vernon's history/life work- that was bold but not overly radical thing to state..I think we are there..I think they want the goods..Now What are they willing to pay. and how long does it take to get somebody to cut you a 7 figure deposit..???All this is my opinion too..Make me a cheerleader..??? Perhaps..but I always rooted for the David's of the World..screw Goliath...
THX
appreciate the candid thoughtful reply..While I would be more than delighted to catch a ride of "irrational exhuberance" such as PLUG a few years back- it would be ultimately more
gratifying to see real deals signed- concrete Jv's in place with this technology being commercialized and used in the marketplace..30 quiet days down-atleast 60 to go..??..anybody catch more talk about Carlos Ghosn( Nissan) and Ford and or GM..There maybe alliance going forward that can really help with our Tech...per prior quotes..he's on board with Diesel, the new transmission tech advances such as IVT..may personally know about the ISO torque
testing in Ca..any thoughts on that ???
Morning all
THX...$100 a share gives TOVC a market cap of 3 Billion- yep with a B..this hypothetical share price is often bandied about in various discussions..In your mind..O.k we end up @ $ 100 a share..At that precise moment what does this little development company in Bushnells Basin look like???
what year is it??
are they manufacturing anything directly..?
how many JV's are in place?
what exchange are we trading on??
Is Leitrim still working ???( oh wait I can answer that one..)
just curious as to your personal take..
That's the plan...
Black and Tan..
My bet is it was Dino..
He's movin and alot of pies and he's going all in..
Tor:
I think that is exactly it..and I would bet that they have now, or are confident that they will have exceptionally good diesel numbers in such a initial phase to share with the politicians..it's about saving money in New York State..Where is Spitzer..?? Get his big ears over to the Army depot to mug for camera..tout a little job creation once he begins his reign.....
Dyna:
At the very end of the Channel 13 segment Alhart does mention TOVC selling technology to foreign companies as being a possibility..I think in this quiet period..nothing is for certain..China may be more in play than ever..That was what the last CEO update eluded to..Regards..
P.S Leitrim's B-Day today..another 20-30 % bounce will do just fine for me..
Up to $4.12 here at lunchtime...
a little steady climb with a touch more volume behind it...Don;t know what "effect" or "Factor" to attibute it too ( referencing the prviously cited.."Fain,Carlisle, Flaum, Don Alhart?? Factors et al..)- but it certainly is a more fun way to go..hopefully it is more the case of the Brother's Gleasman fielding some serious offers for their technology..Regards
Leitrim
Who would want to miss that??
In all seriousness..it's been a few years on this one and while opinions
and emotions, styles, are divergent on this investment ( a big bet will help stoke a little emotion???) I've found the posters on this board and the ones I've met personally to be a very interesting and passionate crew..All but the white hots..If we get some movement in stock price-change that to some strip steaks and then you're talkin..When we were under a buck a share I thought I may be eating White hots for a few years...
Actually that was a pretty good
piece on 13..Often times local television tries to
keep things so basic you scratch you head and say "O.K. why is this news worthy???" oh how I would love to really know what is going on at this point in time?? it really does appear- at least in what we are privy to- that there are SO many strategic fronts being explored at the same time...I have to believe Jim and Keith are really ready for the next step..-not to mention beat tired..they are tenacious- you have to applaud that if nothing else...
If true I'm honored...
to be thought of everyday in any context by a man of his stature..also want to acknowledge that, unless you have lap tops and are composing these gems from the golf course- you both are giving the rest of us a new outlook a CPA's true summer schedule..Kudos...
I think you're right...
Let's see Bickel, Dobbs, Gary S, Rizzo and the Brothers G- correct...?..I'm also not discounting Sheriff's opinion of DF wanting a shot of some of those warrents and or personal options with a tasty strike price in lieu of traditional compensation for some possible future real estate deal???Again..these are just disconnected thoughts possible interpretations..I have no clue what's going on..I read what I read from the company and like most of us I want to believe them- mostly this line.."Our future is bright.."- It's time the future on all of the tech is NOW..I wish them and all us a lot of luck..Slainte'
Sheriff:
It is strictly conjecture on my part..but take for instance that School Bus Retrofit initiative..There were representatives from Finger Lakes Economic Development Agency or some such title at one of those Robach Meeting/Lunches on Basket road..There are two things pols love to be able to announce: filling space and creating jobs in their jurisdictions..Romulus is right in the heart of Finger Lakes and the Upstate Rust belt..If you had a plan to retofit the USA school bus fleet- you'd need a lot of room, the infrastructure to support a 300 Mill dollar project..Would it create jobs,,??Would these people likely receive a paycheck from a company called Torvec?? probably not the latter but some sort of JV with a transmission company and or Laidlaw ???.heck who knows???I know- I'm a glass half full type of guy which irritates the crap out of your partner..too late to change now the damage has been done...I think this may be getting good..dream big...
According to the link..
They are based In Dublin..probably right across from The Guinness Factory..a couple of the lads went over on their lunch hour..got into their cups and came up with a tale of a constantly renewing free energy source..."brilliant" one says to the other...interesting read that's for certain..
Hmm..
I'm perhaps not the sharpest tool in the shed..but Flaum from his website shows the old Seneca Army Depot under his listings management etc..something like 1.5 Million in Square feet Manufacturing and Office....a $1 a foot, access to rail, aircraft of any size can land there..within one day drive to half the USA check it out under "Loopnet" or go to his website ..I think there is a link..Are there any dots to connect???.beats me..but as Marv Levy would say where else you'd rather be than right here right now...7 years..I can wait some more..
What do you think is next
for the combined..growth and then they sell it out kinda like ACC Part 2 ?? I'm not sure Aab was real active in one in NC (maybe he was..)and Arunas is always on record saying he wants to teach school..just curious..and there isn't much to talk about TOVC just a whole lot of waiting and hypothesis..
Maybe..
everybody needs to go on a mental vacation with respects to this play til mid-late October....get those nice September rounds of golf in..
maybe there will be something to talk about then..In the interim save money on the Mylanta..
OT Question sort of..
While we are all practicing being quiet..here's a technical question which I never asked but was curious about...They always list the top end speed of the FTV as 55 mph-atleast that 's what I remember reading..While I know upper end speed is not the marketable feature of the vehicle, is that high end
just the nature of the application of tracks etc??? Now I know it is not designed to be hauling down the NYS Thruway @ 75 mph and that going over logs or through snow @ 55 mph is not going to be all that prudent either I'm just curious in general ..anybody know...?? could it go over 55 mph if necessary..
Atl.
LOL that was good..you're a cut and paste wiz..
Although I met Dread once for a beer I don't recall his head being so large??? .but we did get into the Guinness pretty good..( it was a Friday - I think after a down week for TOVC..)
<Anybody counting? Are we down to 80 days yet?>
after these years..I figured you would have a clock with running time put at the top of your Ihub Page..!! Remember it said minimum 90 days....
ATL..
have to agree...perhaps til the end of the year..but that would be 'bout the end of the line..the right people know about the products, the competitive advantages...on one hand I have never made a business decision that potentially involved a 10,20, 30 Million dollar deposit ( doubt any of us has.( or we wouldn;t spend as much time here as we do..!!)Yet Oil is gonna be $90 a barrel before long..wouldn't someone want to be out front on this??. Will be willing to pay fair value???.Just keep re-reading that last paragraph of the last update- I do.. I still don;t believe a deal will come from Detroit....Like Dyna with GM issue, I don't think I want to hold Ford stock either..after all this time why not hang in awhile longer..the bet all along was they could unlock the value..They know the tech better than I do and they know the industry better than I do..Regards..
Good take..
Wouldn't it be wonderful after this becomes "unquiet"- to read in a national publication ( Dread's personal fav the WSJ would be cool) an appropriate post mortem on Vernon and how this little company in Rochester may have the potential to do more than the Big Three combined to lay a blue print to ease our dependency on Middle Eastern Oil..perhaps we will see that day..I think there is more to be written..and no SEC I didn;t pick that up at the hot dog stand..Haven't seen mgmt around much..thinkin they're busy...
One thing is
probably a safe bet..@ 90K shares trading with over two hours to go..I bet it is more than the 9 of us buying???..wait til we get one those 3-400,000 share trading days..those were fun..watching with interest...
From Dread's article..
<While China still has a lot of labor-intensive manufacturing, he says, "there's a big push right now to make Chinese companies globally competitive. You can't do that just with cheap labor."
How about if you add to it..Paradigm shifting tech ( FTV), revolutionary designed value added components ( CV Joint, Iso Torque)and finally a more cost effective environmentally friendly transmission that anticipates the emergency of diesel as the real "alternative fuel of the future..."..>>They haven't trekked over here 5-6 times IMO for our weather and local flavor...watching with cautious interest how this plays out..hard to believe we may not hear squat for minimum of 90 days..Dread you better source alot of reading material in the interim or else we'll be down to sharing chili recipes come October...
Suppose Zendo
is gonna spend his own self imposed quiet time
thinking up creative ways to "trickle down" on the local economy???
sure could use a little TLC..It would be nice if any of these initiatives were to stay local and create jobs..but if it is just a meteoric rise in stock valuation..I guess I'm o.k. with that as well..You know me Dyna just want to be everybody's friend...
Time for some new products..???
Ford Reports $123 Million 2Q Loss
Thursday July 20, 9:50 am ET
By Tom Krisher, Associated Press Writer
Ford Reports $123 Million Loss in 2nd Quarter, Plans More Steps in Restructuring Effort
DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) -- Ford Motor Co. said Thursday that it lost $123 million in the second quarter due to slumping sales and the cost of shedding personnel. The nation's second-biggest automaker also signaled it plans additional steps in its restructuring effort.
Chairman and Chief Executive Bill Ford said in a conference call that by the end of the year the company would be about a third of the way toward its goal of closing 14 plants and cutting 25,000 to 30,000 jobs by 2012.
The loss of 7 cents per share for the April-June period contrasts with a profit of $946 million, or 47 cents per share, in the second quarter of last year. Revenue fell 6 percent to $41.97 billion from $44.55 billion.
Excluding special items, Ford's second-quarter loss from continuing operations was 3 cents a share. Wall Street had been expecting a profit of 12 cents per share, according to a survey by Thomson Financial.
Its shares fell 6 cents to $6.27 in morning trading on the New York Stock Exchange, near the lower end of their 52-week range of $6.17 to $11.19.
The company said it had a pretax loss of $797 million in North America, an improvement over last year's $907 million loss in the second quarter. It said the cost reductions were offset by the market's shift away from trucks to lower-margin cars, higher sales incentives and adverse foreign currency exchange rates.
"We've seen an improvement in North America results in the second quarter, but the external factors we face aren't going to get any easier," Bill Ford said in a statement.
Analysts have criticized the company for keeping quiet on its restructuring progress, but Bill Ford said the company will discuss "additional actions" within the next 60 days.
The company took a charge of $171 million, or 6 cents per share, to shed employees at plants it is idling. It also took a related charge of $315 million, or 11 cents per share, due to pension curtailments due to employee buyouts in the second quarter.
But the charges were partially offset by a gain of $148 million, or 8 cents per share, due to a gain that Mazda Motor Corp. took on the transfer of its pension liabilities to the Japanese government. Ford owns about a third of Mazda. Also offsetting the charges was a favorable adjustment of $146 million, or 5 cents per share, to a $1.7 billion charge for layoffs and termination packages in the first quarter, the company said.
For the first half of the year, Ford lost $1.3 billion, or 70 cents a share, in contrast to a profit of $2.16 billion, or $1.05 a share, a year ago. Six-month revenue fell to $83 billion from $89.7 billion a year ago.

Zendo...good questions all..
Dread get him some info/answers so he can get
some sleep..( 3:43 a.m.??? )
KK is 89 and hoping
to live to see and enjoy a return on investment
on his GM chunk???!! Not to mention he is working it hard... That kinda attitude makes me feel a little better
I guess..wonder if Ghosn knows about TOVC tech?? If so to what extent..somebody here had an article which quoted him as believeing diesel and an IVT was the immediate future of fuel ecomony..??
& this small
headline from MSN is indicative of how the world is getting smaller and the auto industry in particular...
GM will weigh Nissan-Renault tie-up
General Motors' (GM, news, msgs) board will meet Friday to discuss a potential entry into the Nissan-Renault alliance, French paper Les Echos reported, according to the Associated Press. And talks that Nissan and Renault plan to have with GM will focus on purchasing parts together and sharing environmental and safety technology, Japanese paper Nihon Keizai Shimbun said.
In addition, GM CEO Rick Wagoner will sit down with Nissan-Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn later this month, CNBC reported. The stock was little changed this afternoon.
Dread..
The identity of the woman in the picture ( identified as the G.M. of Peng Pu) was that just a general query to and confirmed by H.Q.??? no biggy just curious..I'm guessing the young guy in the shades possibly the interpretor as he is always close by...???
THX
The last paragraph..
in the update is really the whole ball of wax..If you believe him- you stick around and wait awhile longer- If not why on earth would you hold your shares..?? running a car on a clean burning liquid made from U.S coal deposits?? Hell I'm no Senator but even I could make a good speech with that ...
It was good update..I appreciate Mgt knowing the patience required on this one..it runs short for all of us from time to time...but maybe this is heading for the finish line...
Regards
Tommorow....
is 6/21..First day of Summer???..Perhaps before too long, the top will be down..listening to George Harrison's "Here comes the Sun..." You know..."the smiles returning to the faces,... it's seems like years since it's been clear..." wouldn't take too long to get that TOVC Invitational Golf Tourney organized...( no knives or other weapons allowed..)
In addition....kudos to the Gappiano
man of Ihub ( and other circles) fame for his
public commentary with respects to his investment...
Waiting for Velvet's quote from the Sheriff in
the interests of being fair and balenced....One quote probably worth posting from RBJ.."Gleasman said he expects the FTV to be the first to market, followed quickly by the ISO Torque, and IVT, but he declined to say when he thought that would happen..",...Sounds like atleast one of our illustrious posters thinks in about 4-5 weeks??? Taking any side bets...???Time will tell..Takes awhile for summer to hit Rochester but when it does, it can be pretty sweet......
SEC...
When it is front page of the WSJ...then we're talkin..Hope Senator Joe is trying to rattle some cages for his constituents..For the company I think he is a good ally..he's a worker in a world of talkers..
THX...
I like the optimism but just remember "Death and Taxes.."
Ain't nothing 100% in this one friend..I'll be interested if they have something to release with a signed agreement and or deposit attached..Then- I agree with you...Not gloomy, not being a "Doubting Thomas" just grounded- 6-7 years will do that- The fun will start when another party also finds this to be the most "advanced automotive technology in the world.." Is it going on now?? sure hope so......Best of Luck..
Hey Dread..
there are certainly always parallels to be drawn between sports and business- that's for sure..well if this is indeed the Superbowl (as many long timers are of the opinion- I waffle as is well documented)I suppose there is nothing wrong with a ball control offense..Let's hope out team has a better "red zone efficiency" than the Bills of recent years..If your friend/colleague is correct about the Chinese and their business strategy of "wearing people out"- well sometimes that strategy will backfire and really great opportunities go elsewhere..I really hope where the company is presently at negotiating valuation stage and not "showcasing.." they have been here atleast 4-5 times already..What else do they want to eyeball- ya know???
True..
yet isn't it surprising how the market has, for the most part shrugged it off (the high price of oil/gas) and just continues to percolate???.heard something today this a.m that retail prices could drop 50-60 cents after Labor Day..so don't make the Mrs ditch the Navigator for a Prius just yet..
Wait til ya
see the D&C's edit on that one...
