that's certainly what the folks at BV do...as long as the company reporting results is one of their traditional whipping boys.
market cap back down to $178,000,000. sheesh
yes, it does make sense, charlie..
this stock price has virtually nothing to do with earnings reports...ever. it's all about potential for multi-billion-dollar sales at some point in the future.
if it ever appears that point in the future is likely to come to pass, rather than just being a possibility, you'll be able to trust an upward move. till then, it's only about traders going in and out for some easy money.
bio...take it easy with the expectations.
let's not forget that, last summer, the potential 'partners' were waiting for the nsclc phase II results, then they were waiting for the results of the investigation, now they're waiting till after the fda meeting...
to me, that means 1 of 2 things...
1. they're not buying the results of the investigation, or
2. pphm is playing harder to get due to knowing the stuff
absolutely works, particularly in healthier patients.
i hope it's #2, but i fear it's #1
again...
any mention of the dosage mixup?
i couldn't listen... did they discuss the switched doses again? did they infer it was intentional? did any analysts ask about it? did piper jaffray ask any questions at all?
if pj didn't ask anything difficult, assume they now a lot about something.
looks like fantastic news hasn't leaked :)
wouldn't be a surprise, Hayward... we typically sell off on news/earnings.
not looking for anything exciting this afternoon...
with pphm, earnings after the close on fridays has often foretold bad news/precipitous drop in share price.
earnings early in week is looked at as potentially good news so the price can run for a few days...
anectodal evidence only!
be patient, jeff. i suspect we'll still have a chance to ring up the register this year. just gotta be alert enough to do it since we'll likely be manipulated back down from the heights.
if we have the goods, we'll still get played.
don't worry about the charts like some folks here do...
PG
if only you would win Loof's squirrels
thanks, Gwen (may I call you that?)
very nice post, and taking notes on GZ's other favorites. always thought he was ok...
beer... nothing wrong with shorting. it's just dangerous with PPHM when it's at this market cap. don't take your eyes off it for one minute.
Dew...i'd rather PR Piper Jaffray doing PPHM's next financing than PR another PIPE or MLV job... Wouldn't you?
PJ would be the first widely-known outfit to buddy up with Peregrine...that could be seen as a positive....
yup.
show me the money!
like going to the track.
don't much care if the race is fixed as long as my number wins :)
sunstar....
love your posts. at times, i've wondered whether they had contained something approaching insider info.. (nuance can mean a lot, even on anonymous interwebs boards)
but
don't be so sure anybody will follow the investigation to the ends of the earth. wall street and congressional republicans (along with some bought-out dems) make sure SEC remains underfunded ("can't afford it!") for the investigations this nation should support regarding the world of finance.
Hugo at least admitted he smelled rats. too many people here (US) either hold their noses or just plain deny there are really so many creeps among us who get up in the morning to take advantage of those who aren't focused on greed all day....
why is piper covering a virtual penny stock with a 2.50 target? since when do they give a crap about an outfit with a $3-400,000,000 market cap?
what's the game?
all i know is that i'm in.
Piper Jaffray initiates coverage on Peregrine Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: PPHM) with a Overweight. PT $2.50.

beer...
you shouldn't base trading this on charts..you should just try to mind-meld with the manipulators. do you think this went up .18 on a couple million and down .13 on a couple hundred thousand based on charts????
there certainly weren't many, were there?!
you didn't short at 1.40. you're out of money, remember?

iam maxed out...maybe if i sell some of my other stocks, but for now i am good....
CP..a few questions...
if PPHM's folks have stated in an email response that an individual intentionally tampered with the trial as reported on this board, which is known to be widely read, do you expect any questions or statements about it at one of these conferences?
might an official response which substantiates that position be a wild card that could move the price?
if so, would you suspect it would only affect short term traders, or might it 'legitimize' pphm's position?
doubt it very much, at least until pphm either gets a partner or the pphm patents are acquired. avid is cash positive in the meantime, so it wouldn't make sense now..
thurly.. glad you're still around...how's winter been over there?
history says you are correct. so let's get it going.
i've hemmed and hawed, and finally bought more today. with the conferences coming up in the next week or two, i just can't imagine why pphm wouldn't throw a bone in public since they threw one to md1225 in..'private'(?). it was admitted that pphm insiders follow this board and probably knew that info would be shared in some minimal way at the least, so i'm figuring it's consistent with saying something in public while there are lots of eyeballs and eardrums paying attention.
i never want my share count to be low when we could jump...
i'm expecting a significant move within 2 weeks. PLEASE.. be UP!
somebody obviously knew the PC trial did not have good numbers (at the surface)
we got our pre-market headfake again, as suspected. man, the pros love to play with this one.
i hope we're at the bottom, but i wouldn't count on it yet. there's still a couple of days left for them to play with it before the PR'd conference with live webcasts start...and there's a chance there will be a nugget of good news there...
i was hoping for sub $1.10 to minimize the risk of getting more...have i messed up again???
gotta be careful with pre-market buys for sure with this... i'm torn... confident we're going up again, but it sure is tough to tell when it's solid vs. a headfake....
Robert, md1225...
not diluting at these prices ANYTIME SOON was the line.
not this month, not next month, maybe not april...what about may or june?
i really want to believe the spirit of the IR comments...but i've been burned 8 or 10 times here already. lots of scar tissue... yeah, i'm tempted to buy here, but i suspect we're going to a buck
it'll be a legal matter with me pretty soon if the pps doesn't go up!
this management team really, really is awful for shareholders. the street plays them like a fiddle, and they can't sell anything.
jdm..
i agree. and in the meantime, pphm will beneeding money, as usual.
for those who don't think so...didn't they take a massive loan last fall even when they thought they'd hit a home run?
now that they've only hit singles (along with a double play and a pick-off), why wouldn't money still be an issue?
big investors don't want much more dilution...so... will they be able to get another loan based on the 2 trial updates? if so, that would suggest that smart people think the results are scientifically excellent. if there's no loan forthcoming, we'll probably get diluted big time again by PIPE or by working the ATM at fire sale prices.
beware of investor meetings in new york and boston.
based on the thud we've heard after the last 2 PRs, there's just as good a chance of a big dilution being lined up as anything else...thus the price crash? somebody always knows it's coming...
we just released 2 very important studies which were supposed to take us to the big time. both were complete duds in the eyes of "investors". for the time being, we are considered dead money, yet again, and could drip back down to a dollar or so.
i'm not necessarily predicting that...i'm just sayin' it won't surprise me even one teeny bit.
at the same time, other news could still make us shoot up and leave skeptics in the dust...i just don't know what that news would be in the near term, cuz i don't believe a big partner deal is close right now.
any cotara deal is likely to be peanuts if they ever get one, and i suspect it will take very, very strong 1st line nsclc results to snag a deal, and we're not supposed to see those numbers for a while yet.
rinse and repeat
steve et al....
please close a deal. AT THIS POINT, I DON'T GIVE A CRAP WHAT IT'S FOR OR WHO IT'S WITH OR WHAT DRUG IT'S FOR.
already lost friends/relatives/co-workers to GMB, breast, PC, LC...MAKE IT HAPPEN ALREADY
i just want a crumby 50-100k out of it after 13 years
take the personal profits you make and put in something THAT WON'T TAKE ANOTHER 20 YEARS TO PUT YOU IN $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK??????
bigdum...that call was too easy. been here long enough to learn how they do it
the bid was 1.51 around 7:30. when it's been that far down below the prior day's close, it typically tanks at some point during the day. i don't know whether it's a wink among pros or not, but i've always suspected that to be the case.
i'll be very surprised if it's not pulled down today... also won't be surprised if it recovers...
after all these years, it's still world-class for something...unfortunately, that thing is daytrading
since pphm says the results are valid and the market is saying they're not, what will the bank say?
will we hear about a new loan to replace the one we paid off early?
if we don't have a new loan very shortly, i suspect we're a long way time-wise and a lot more dilution from a big move up..if it ever happens.
harpo...
then maybe pphm didn't really manipulate it.
while you are certainly entitled to your opinion (which i have some respect for), pphm is still kicking. while it's always uphill for underfunded biotechs, it's too soon to be arranging funeral services for bavi. you're a cocky sob, aren't you?
Dew...
please comment on the PPHM PR, without being overly snippy, if you can contain yourself :)
11.7 v 7-something isn't something to sneeze at on the surface, and it's not far from what was expected my most with the control and 1mg arm being combined into the 'new' control.
do you feel it's totally invalid because of the contractor's crippling mixup? do you feel that a re-do of the same trial producing similar numbers (without mixups!) is absolutely required to show the drug has any positive effect? WOULD a total re-do with similar results have you adjust your opinion of the drug's potential, or would an entity other than PPHM have to produce such results?
i appreciate your comments on this board, and i respect them much more when your biases are left out.
