All we need is Sigma to hire their 8th, 9th and 10th employees :/
That's not him. It was Envirosciguy.
To protect a company's IP and the liability piece comes into play if someone makes and sells a widget cheaper than the manufacturer and then a significant issue occurs. This could be a quality issue, a design issue or a materials issue. Or it could be any combination of the three.
Anyway, no need to belabor the point but that's just how I see it and what I inferred.
GO SGLB???!!!
Gosh Jackle you get a gold star for reading way too much into that. I took it to mean that a scanner (or whatever method used) will not pickup all of the incatracies so there's a chance that it won't function the same if a knockoff was attempted. Whether it be in a car, a toaster or a rocket.
Also lets not forgot, even if SGLB is the holy grail of QA, there's still a need for post-fabrication. Whether that be additional QA, stress testing or spit-shining.
Huh?
Despite this being posted in the wrong forum, carriage returns go a long way, otherwise it'll end up in the tldr bucket.
Hmm, maybe they're in the process of uploading it since it's effectively looping.
Will try it again in an hour.

I wish I could buy but I have more than enough. I need to sit on a healthy amount of cash and gold just in case the zombie apocalypse happens. And it will happen, it's just a matter of when.
Yeah I happened to know this but it's certainly worth repeating.
It helps to justify the long position, just don't let your eyes get bigger than your head. They still need to deliver.
I'm not a fan of connecting dots and speculating but I'm certainly guilty of it.
Sorry if this was posted earlier, I don't recall seeing it before.

Would be cool if SGLB got in bed with Lockheed Martin as well.
Patience stockmamba! Product first then contracts. If they don't deliver INSPECT in Q3 then we're in trouble. Nothing significant enough is going to happen before then that's really going to move the needle.
Get Tuesday out of your head. Think September. And if it happens earlier then that in Q3 then that's butter.
I think this breaks one of the cardinal rules of investing: never give financial advice to family and friends.
That being said I have told a few about it. My one friend thinks I'm nuts for being as invested as I am with this. The other works for a big bank and he'd have to jump through hoops in order to invest, so he doesn't.
My dad has 150 bucks in it but doesn't know anything about them even if I try to explain it and my brother-in-law is investing in it as he has extra funds. He has done quite a bit of DD on his own.
I messed up initially because I first only threw 5k at it at .06. Another 5k at .12 then I started getting more serious but unfortunately most of it was at over .14. So I'm averaged at .1675 but it's all good.
Lots of thirsty folks in here. Stop with the begging and pleading and if you are really thirsty, you're more than welcome to drink straight from the bottle. *wink*
Can I haz your stuff?
How do you forget about that?
Ouch, you were a bad boy.
I have a real neat trick. Two things before we start.
1) you can't use your hands
2) you need to keep an open mind and an open mouth
...
That's right, we're going to bob for apples.
Oh ok, but I think there were 2 separate events.
1) I did accidentally insult this guy's mom. Soon after I wasn't able to post to the board. Ok, ok, it wasn't an accident.
2) Created the second account "Not_Herringaid" as the name of a second account. I thought it was witty and would not have thought that it would result in a suspension. Who reads the TOS anyway?
The punishment certainly fits the crime. I appreciate you taking the time to tell me why I'm suspended.
Back to the cat videos and cookies.
Thanks
Oh I see what you did there! My goodness!!! LOL@you! My gosh, I can't believe I missed that. I put out 4 letters then you said may as well not use the other 22. 22+4=26 and there are 26 letters in the alphabet!! You were suggesting that I not use any letters at all!! I get it!! You silly goose.
Looks like I'm in jail until the 24th. Gives me more than enough time to think about my transgressions.
I'm going to go watch some cat videos and have some milk and cookies before I lay down for a nap.
Thanks for the LOL C.
Toodles,
Jerry
Gosh golly it would keep me out of trouble for sure.
I accidentally talked about someone's mom. I promise not to do it again and I'm working on cleaning up my language.
I will no longer use the c word. Or the n, r and both f words. I promise.
Yes that is Mich Tech.
Sigma Labs, Inc. Announces Development of Technology to Support Low Cost 3D Metal Printer
SANTA FE, N.M., Dec. 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Sigma Labs, Inc. (OTCBB: SGLB), a developer of advanced, real-time, non-destructive quality inspection systems for 3D metal printing and other advanced manufacturing technologies, today announced the development of technology to support a low-cost, 3D metal printer based on arc welding technology. As part of this initiative, key strategic alliances have been established, including with respect to a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), entered into as of December 20, 2013, by Sigma Labs and Michigan Technological University (Michigan Tech). The MOU with Michigan Tech sets forth the parties' intent to collaborate technically in the development of technology for a low-cost, 3D metal printer for near-net shape parts that require only 3- or 5-axis machining to take the parts to final form.
Mark Cola, President and Chief Executive Officer of Sigma Labs, stated that "Michigan Tech has recently developed an open source 3D printer based on gas metal arc welding technology. Sigma Labs has a unique knowledge base in advanced sensing and process control for gas metal arc welding. The enabling technology for the contemplated new product would be based on our proprietary and patent-protected PrintRite3D® quality control and sensing technologies. Along with strategic partners, we intend to develop, test, and launch a customized, low-cost 3D printing solution for metals like titanium, steel, aluminum, and nickel-based alloys. Our low-cost printing technology is directly focused at servicing the currently untapped market of tens of thousands of users presently dissuaded by the high-cost, barriers to entry of 3D laser powder-bed solutions. Lastly, we have identified manufacturing sources capable of producing our low-cost 3D printing technology."
Pursuant to the MOU, neither Sigma Labs nor Michigan Tech is obligated to take any action until a mutually acceptable agreement has been executed by the parties. There can be no assurance, however, that the parties will enter into such a definitive agreement.
You're wrong on a couple of points.
- Metronic Systems is in bed with them for DEFORM. Now I'm not sure if this is still the case since they're now in bed with Honeywell for the same.
- They had an MOU or whatever with Interactive Machines. I've expressed earlier that I believe that deal is dead. The other one is with Michigan Tech for a low cost printer. I don't believe this will be game changing nor do I think it will be a priority.
INSPECT and DEFORM is where our bread is buttered. Next should be the hardware.
IMO this is all JMHO IMO. IMO.
MOUs, JTDAs and JVs are not contracts.
We looooooove to speculate and connect dots that aren't there. I'm at fault too but this is why I'm never completely over the moon when there's yet another PR.
7, either cents or dollars, it's a coin flip.
Between 9am and 6pm EST. Better? It's just a silly question just like when people ask what the PPS will be tomorrow.
In about 37 or 38 seconds from when you read this reply.
Somene should setup a blog.
And the original PR did what? Not what several expected. It continues to trade sideways.
I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if an announcement like that took us north and kept us there but I just don't see it happening.
This is where I kinda agree with Al. We need earnings and growth and that'll take some time. There's obvious strength here most of us know all too well but we're trading sideways for a reason.
I will bet you a dime (steveo still owes me a nickel) that a Materialise PR and IPO doesn't move the needle.
I guess the date when the PR3D software gets into the Materialise software is also significant. Who cares about *their* IPO? When will their clients get the update?
Additionally it sometimes takes companies months to upgrade so if the integration into Materialise also happens Q3, it could be Q2 2015 until it's really out there.
EDIT: and the dates I threw out above are arbitrary. I realize this is pretty speculative. But it's as reasonable of a scenario as any.
Yep, caught it in time for the good old iHub edit.
INSPECT commercialization which is NLT Q12014 wich is July - Sept.
Edit: typo, Q32014.
Yes, exactly Susan.
I respectfully disagree Sally. I like the pace at which things are going because you know, slow and steady gets the worm AND the early bird wins the race.
In somewhat seriousness, the PRs seem to be legitimate and I think the biggest factor WRT more investors is the fact that this is an OTC and some people don't invest in OTCs.
When I first invested in Sigma I had researched all of the stigmas with a penny stock and one of the problems was with Sigma's FB page. It was a mess and it was probably because they signed up with the wrong firm. Instead of hiring a PR guy, they can wake up Tom O'Mara and put him to work. I'd much prefer growth continue organically and see them hire additional engineers, scientists, support folks, etc.
I believe we're headed in the "rite" direction. Get it, I said "rite" as in PrintRITE! Oh my gosh.
No fear here, that's kinda catchy!
I believe Metronics is in bed with some big names too.
Speculation aside, I'm excited.
2 days left until the Q, yay! It will be interesting to see the volume over the next couple of days leading up to it. Yeasterday felt sluggish but we still had 3 mil in volume.
According to the short report, it's only 15% compared to our typical 50%.
Weak hands perhaps?
Regards,
Myriam
Thanks for the link jpi, you gave me wood. Any idea what the date of the report is?
Around the time of the Olympics in Sochi, people were being urged not to use their own smartphones or PCs.
Doesn't surprise me that there's some shenanigans going on there.
It's also neat that we're in such a report.
I'm more of a sarcastic realist. That being said I don't think any POV should be silenced just because it's unpopular. But that's certainly not something I can change.
We can agree, we can disagree or we can agree to disagree. I'm not sure if it's possible to disagree to agree. We can disagree about agreeing though.
I hold a large long position and I respect your POV too and everything you contribute to the board.
The whole Al and Gary kerfluffle was interesting reading and there are so many board members (myself excluded) who have very solid reasons for their positions and things are backed up with facts. But there's almost too much positivity. I mentioned this before, I may just need that other viewpoint so I don't end up with my head in the clouds.
I need to stay grounded. Even though I'm a believer, this is not a sure thing. We could end up in another war, another better solution could come along, revenues may not come to justify such a high Mcap, etc.
We should never lose sight of the risks and we should not see this as pie in the sky. Stay grounded, invest what you can afford to lose and be smart.
And the next person who says "slow and steady wins the race" should kick themselves in the nuts!
*golf clap*
I like your POV Al and I'm always happy to read your posts. I'm not following your advice but maybe I would under different circumstances.
You have a lifetime of experience that few others have. I think what's appealing here with this stock is that it's a lotto ticket with decent odds. It gives us middle-class folks with patience a chance of hitting it big. And if it crashes and burns and people lose their shirts then it becomes a potentially expensive lesson. If it takes off then "yay us.".
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate them.
BTW you never responded when I asked if you'd adopt me. I am house trained and I'll cuddle if the price is right.
