Freedom is not Dead!
By David Weed, USA September 13, 2001
A response to:
Death of Freedom
By Iqbal Latif, Paris, 13 September 2001
The attack on World Trade Center in New York is one of the most dastardly and heinous crimes committed against mankind. In the history of mankind, this crime will go, if not more, no less than the Mongols burning of Baghdad and the entire loss of Islamic treasures.
There are many heinous crimes throughout history, committed by many races against many others. To focus solely on one event, no matter how despicable the crime, is irrelevant. It would make just as much sense to compare it to the Babylonian sacking of Jerusalem and subsequent enslaving of the Jews.
When I talk to my American friends in New York and all over, they tell me that this attack on World Trade Center pales the memory of Pearl Harbour, which was basically an attack on military targets unannounced, but conducted with the greatest of surprises. America did revive from that and came out very strong, and that particular attack even changed the course of the Second World War in Europe. You talk to any American and he will talk about some events in life as a picture embossed in his mind. The assassination of John F. Kennedy is one such moment. Oklahoma bombing another, which was marked down as one of the bleakest days in American history. People of our generation always ask what were you doing then or how did you hear the news then?
Not only this generation, But indeed every generation that has tasted the fruits of the greatest democracy ever to exist on this earth. We Americans share a unique bond. Strangely many have striven to destroy that bond instead of emulating it. Once again our mettle is being tested. Once again we will demonstrate that, despite an apparently impossible task, we are capable and ready to meet this challenge.
But nothing compares to the attack on World Trade Center. In one fell swoop, the vulnerabilities of America’s domestic defense were revealed; the ease by which four planes were hijacked within 30 minutes of each other, fully laden with 250 thousand gallons of fuel for a long haul to California, could only be an excerpt out of a fiction book. Tom Clancy could have conceived no better plot than this. The terrorist committed a heinous crime that pierced a dagger in the heart of America’s social, political, strategic, and financial strength. The billions and billions of dollars spent on defense and ideas like the special SDI to insulate America from incoming nuclear missile attacks lay wasted with a single stroke of lowliest act a man has ever committed against another man.
That this act was conceived and executed there can be no doubt. The humanity of the perpetrators and their supporters is suspect. By taking advantage of our very freedom to commit this atrocity they have revealed their own disdain for the very concept of freedom. Millions have died for that concept all of the world, from places other than the United States and indeed in times when the United States did not even exist. The persons that ordered, financed, and carried out this act are not worthy of the thinly veiled praise you bestow upon them. Indeed a return to the ancient practice of total elimination of all reference to such beings is in order. This act is so far beneath Humanity that to refer to them as men is an insult to all men everywhere.
The condemnation of this act has no precedent, and can find no better words than saying that this in the history of mankind will be called as mankind’s darkest day. It is the darkest day because today we thought that we had groomed ourselves enough to understand and solve issues through mutual consultation. But that was not to be. The world financial markets have shown how precarious they can be. What it boils down to is that the entire 35 trillion dollar world economy finally became hostage to twelve human bombs who had very little respect for mankind in general. The worst of the whole thing is that this was done in the name of our Holy Book, the Qur’an, which teaches the message of mercy, forbearance and tolerance.
As we will discover, the economy will ultimately exorcise this as a mere blip on the radar. Far greater damage has been done to the cause of peace. Which, regardless of what one calls "Holy" should be the goal of all civilized people.
This is not the first time atrocities have been committed in the name of Allah, nor is it the first time that the message of the Qur'an has been ignored by alleged devouts of Islam. Where is the outcry from the Islamic leaders. Why are there not "death orders" for these blasphemers committing these atrocities? Writing a book is cause for a death sentence but mass murder is acceptable?
The attack on World Trade Center and its associated human loss of life is ironically maybe too small a price for what has changed for humanity today. The world is poorer today, like the 1967 mass hijackings changed the way we fly now. These attacks have changed the way we have treated hijackings so far. The next time any plane in the air will not only be worrisome for the passengers, but the real agony will be for the people on the surface over whose heads these planes shall be hovering.
Your sense of irony is lost. We indeed have paid with our dearest blood to be made poorer. For a time there will be fear of repetition but new procedures will put in place and while terrorists would like to be devising new ways to circumvent them they will be occupied with a new mission…survival.
The dynamics of hijackings will change completely. So far nations used to refuse to accept flying planes as too hot to handle on ground; now, the first change would be that the people will try to bring these planes down on the tarmac as soon as possible. There will be a deep sigh of relief if human bombs do not hijack the fuel-laden planes. The world will have to live in fear of the unknown now and that is the biggest disservice to mankind. Unfortunately, doing this in the name of Islam is the biggest disservice to Islam. Islam is a religion of compassion, not destruction and death.
The dynamics have changed. Procedures are being implemented that with increase the obstacles a hijacker must overcome to succeed. The largest of these is that there will be no more wide eyed Americans to hijack. We will board waiting and watching. Unfortunately for some they will give the appearance of being a hijacker…and will suffer for it. We are not known to take it lying down. You have been begging for a fight…you've got one. I suggest you review the histories of Japan, Germany, Spain, and England for reference of what you can expect. In short there is not a more resourceful and tenacious population in the history of the world.
It is sad today that we are at this juncture. Not only have the dynamics of terror been changed, but the fact that a fuel laden bomb or biological laden passenger bombs, the equation of threat against civilians has completely changed. It’s New York today; it can be Cairo tomorrow. The same militants are as much against New York as they are against any other moderate Muslim government in the Middle East. Those who are gleefully dancing in the streets should realize that this is a common threat against mankind. We will never fly again the way we used to, and our profiles will be under more careful scrutiny. We who have darkened skins and darkened hair. Is this a fair price to pay for the whole Islamic nations that today one billion people are under suspicion? The act of few has clouded the prospects of billion. That is not something, which is acceptable.
Indeed it is sad, We did not ask to be included in your campaign of terror. We wanted no part of your Jihad. But you have insisted. You expect us to respond in a way that will allow you to point your finger and say " See we were right! They are the devil out to destroy us all!" You are in for a huge surprise. You are correct that what happened in New York Tuesday could happen anywhere else tomorrow. Baghdad, Kabul or Khartoum could be the next target. The war against terrorism will not recognize geographical or racial or religious boundaries. It is the war of the civilized verses the uncivilized. As for the difficulties you will have when traveling…had you been more active in denouncing your heretical demons thirty-five years ago things might not have escalated to this level.
One thing has come out clear from this: the pockets of terrorists will not be condoned anywhere in the future. Like, after Pearl Harbour, Japan, Germany and associated imperial and Nazi thinking were annihilated completely, this will be a point where there will be a concerted global action against the thinking of destruction and senseless death. This will be the first biggest change the world will view. Terrorism, as a threat in general, will not be dissociated from it. This is a new low in the thinking of people, who can go down to the level of mass massacring for reasons and benefits still unknown. It is also, on the other hand, an eye-opener for a superpower like America that geographic isolation of their country means nothing. They have to mingle with the world; they have to be associated with the world. Their vulnerabilities are huge. Never before in history, even after the Second World War, did markets close for three continuous days. The nuclear arsenal stands useless today as a resolve of a few individuals ready to die for a controversial cause; they have glaringly opened vulnerabilities of the greatest empire the world has ever seen since Rome.
Though this paragraph is mostly repetitive of your earlier rhetoric…Our nuclear arsenal does not stand useless. It is still the weapon of last resort. We have the conventional means to reduce terrorist states to stone knives and bearskins. The nuclear arsenal would only be used should it prove that genocide is necessary.
Today, when Americans look at dancing kids in the Muslim capitals, they ask why they are so hated. It has also changed the thinking of a common American; he is wondering what policies US is pursuing that has led to this blindfolded hatred against Americans by the Islamic nations. In the short run, it may be very easy to say that Israel may have scored a great political victory, but in the long run, Israel has been the biggest loser of this attack politically. America, which is known as a White Anglo-Saxon Protestant country, would question its policies towards the Middle East much more closely, and it may not be apparent in the next few weeks, but Israel will be under tremendous pressure to respect the Oslo Accord.
Now you reveal a complete misunderstanding of the American mind. We are not asking, "why are we so hated". We ask, "What kind of creature rejoices in human suffering?" We do not wonder what policies engendered this behavior. We wonder if we should even claim them as human. Given our nature we still might but not until this cancer has been removed. There will be no pressure placed on civilized law abiding nations. The pressure for the next few years is going to be on terrorists and the leaders of these terrorist supportive states to dismantle these organizations or face the consequences.
The point is that revenge may not be the answer or a solution to this problem. It is a question of entire re-think. America would need to build new bridges to the Islamic world, develop understanding and will have to dangle a carrot with a stick. The fact remains that in Afghanistan, where the mastermind has taken refuge, is a country known where even British and Russians could not cow the people into submission. And this country had contiguous borders with these nations. Carpet-bombing of Afghanistan and mass annihilation would wield no results. It is a question of going and finding the masterminds, eliminating the root of evil, and that root of evil can only be eliminated with long-term policies; policies of vigilance.
Perhaps before you keyed this paragraph you were reminded of a comment from Japanese Admiral Yamamoto shortly after the Attack on Pearl Harbor. He said " I am afraid all we have done is awaken a sleeping giant." We understand clearly the meaning of "Revenge is a dish that is best served cold". Rest assured that carpet bombing of any single country is not on the drawing board. They will have entirely new terms to describe warfare in the 21st century. The animals that are responsible for this will face horrors their minds cannot conceive. Those that harbor them will share the same fate. You will wish we had only carpet-bombed you.
Today, America has not been attacked from outside but from within; the enemy was within! Initially it was thought that Americans should punish the nations that have given their ground and camps to train these de facto pilots, but it is tragic to see that the very people that were out to commit horrendous acts were actually being trained in America’s own backyard. These cells existed in America and they apparently had no communication with the masterminds. The horrific crime was committed through physical intermediaries, but it was planned and executed within the United States. One hates this fact, but the truth is that it is a failure of internal intelligence that such an act could be committed in such a planned and precise manner.
At last you reveal your purpose behind the propaganda. To instill fear and foment chaos through distrust. You also reveal information that only our investigators or participants in this terrorism should know. It was planned in this country?
That our borders were infiltrated and the actual execution of this act occurred within our borders is public knowledge. That the perpetrators used our own institutions to prepare for their crimes is clear. That it was planned within our borders is not even speculated at this point. Surely some of the logistics were determined while within our system but much of the direction came from sources beyond our shores. These animals lived among us for extendied periods of time without any apparent means of support. Yet had the finances for drunken binges in preparation for their actions. Guided by Allah? More like guided by Satan himself. Living large and burning bright before a most ignoble end. It appears that much of the purpose of your article is to foster fear and deflect the spotlight from an international network of terrorists.
America has to find the enemy within; trace out the selves within America without engaging on the rhetoric’s of war. The Pakistani intelligence chief, Gen. Mahmood, was in Washington and my sources tell me that he is holding discussions with the Americans on a way out, with Pakistan’s President, Gen. Pervez Musharraf, announcing his unstinted support to America. The masterminds of this dastardly act can be encircled and expedited, because nobody is ready to pay a price.
Scars on America’s social thinking, its body politics, its defense establishment and its global financial supremacy are so deep that no immediate evaluation can be made of the extent of damage. But, the world has to view this as a global problem. Wherever these extremist zealots have taken command, the developments have just disappeared. The biggest joke was that Afghanistan’s leader said, “What will America bomb? We have already destroyed everything in fighting [within ourselves].” The leading Islamic ideological states are all in economic shambles. Is this not an eye-opener enough for the Muslim world?
It is not surprising that Pakistan is seeking a way out. They realize the depth of our resolve and fear being caught in the reprisal. We are well aware of the depth of Afghan poverty and deprivation. That it has been the result of it's own depravity comes as no surprise.
When a cancerous tumor is found with a human body we remove it or eradicate it by whatever means available…including removing the afflicted organ if necessary. Terrorism is a cancer in the body of civilization…it must and it will be eradicated by whatever means are necessary.
The fact remains that the attack on World Trade Center will change the way we travel; the way the flying crew cabins are designed; the impact on Mideast policies, where without any iota of doubt, the last thing Americans should intelligently and hopefully do is not to create more Osama bin Ladens by adopting a more balanced policy towards the Middle East and stopping the atrocities.
One way to prevent any more Bin Laden's is to make the prospects for such a career unappealing. I am calling now (as I expect our president to do soon), That he and all like him…Hamas, Hezzbulah etc. be detained and handed over to the authorities of the United States and it's allies. Further, I call on the leaders of the Islamic faith to exile these individuals from their religion, (Much in the same fashion the Catholics excommunicate) and issue death sentences as they did for Salmon Rushdie.
The Americans should rightfully ask only one question: Why them only? There are other superpowers too. The political hijacking of America will also come to the fore. It is presently being buried in statements like that of Senator John Mcaine’s that God may have mercy on those who have perpetrated this act, but they will have no mercy. But the basic causes are homegrown. The domestic flights were so insecure that you could carry knives aboard. No other country in the world allows this. Terrorists were being trained as professional human bomb pilots and nobody checked their backgrounds. Despite the 1993 attack on World Trade Center, which had become an unfortunate booty for the global terrorists, could anyone imagine that the pride was so high, only one tower was insured as no one expected that the two towers could fall simultaneously!
No, the question we ask is "why anyone at all?" Now you descend into the same pit as the perpetrators of this attack on America. Is this your way of calling for more assaults on other targets? That you close this paragraph with unabashed revelry in the results of this unconscionable act speaks loudly to your motives.
The external carpet-bombing of Afghanistan will bring absolutely no results; it will only create more human bombs. Rather, it would be more appropriate to address the cause, and win broader support so that America may not be a known target of the terrorists. I strongly reject and condemn the idea of yielding into the demands, but the next time a plane is hijacked we will all be more worried that its no longer about passengers and crew only; it is about a new turn in the way we annihilate each other; it is a new low in our thinking, much as we condemn it, it is not enough.
Carpet-bombing is not the fate that will befall those responsible for this act. In your arrogance you focus on what you perceive to be the only response we are capable of. You have declared war without knowing how far your opponent will go. If necessary we will introduce a new term... Carpet Nuking. There will not be a living thing of any kind for miles and there will be no mountain cave to hide in. We can bring the mountain down itself if that is what is required. But that will not be necessary. You have placed your trust in thugs and criminals who will readily send young men and boys to face a death they are unwilling to suffer themselves. Watch as their resolve crumbles like a house of cards when faced with their own personal destruction. Further, you assume that we will target Bin Laden's group and support system alone. Nothing could be further from the truth. ALL terrorists and their supporters are at risk. Whether they sit on a towel in the desert or on a throne in Baghdad their fate is sealed. They have shed American blood on American soil. The penalty is death.
The perpetrators who have inculcated this thinking in the human minds are the lowest of human beings. Mankind’s balance of terror has been most unfortunately changed. The blackmail has just begun and if Islamic states do not take notice of this, their own powers will crumble, as these blackmails will be conducted against their own cities by the very elements who consider most of these moderate Islamic states as heretics. The threat is not just against America, it is against freethinking and a free society. Those who rejoice unfortunately represent the death of freedom.
No, Freedom is not dead. It has been wounded certainly, but that will only steel it's resolve. The enemies of Freedom have awakened the sleeping giant, Freedom's staunchest defender. They will feel the wrath of the right hand of God. And when the war is over, then WE will dance in the streets.

Just how 'religious' are the hijackers?
In an interesting development, It appears that our devout Muslim suicide bombers were getting drunk in a Hollywood, Fl nightclub last Thursday. To top it all off, they tried to leave without paying their rather substantial bill!
As I understand it true devout practitioners of Islam consider it a venal sin to allow alcohol to pass their lips. Saudi Arabia has a nationwide prohibition on Alcoholic beverages as do several other Muslim dominated countries. And we have all heard about the standard punishment for theft.

The End Days are upon us.
Only someone unschooled in the bible would look upon the end of days as "fatalistic". Indeed this is the battle long predicted and much looked for throughout history. But it is not a time for defeatism, it is a time for preparation and action. Not only do we not shy away from the the fight...We stand poised for the attack. Yes, the outcome is preordained. We will win convincingly. The bad guys will lose and join their master in the pit. Make no mistake, the time for choosing sides is done, the final battle is upon us. Many still do not recognize it for such. I pray that they do before their opportunity for redemption expires. There will be only one winner, the "prophecy" declares it so.

A sad day.
We lost a great deal yesterday. But we may finally step forward and become the leader we should be.
Some news...
The investigation is focusing on two Flight schools here in Florida. Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach and Huffman in Venice. The connection appears to be that several of those suspected to be associates of the Bomber from `93 (and Bin Laden) have been students at these flight schools. Also authorities are searching these individuals homes in Coral Springs and Ft. Lauderdale.
Air traffic has been suspended indefinitely pending a revival of the Late Seventies SkyCop anti-terrorist program.
I'll discuss my projections later. Back to the news.

Sara and joe don't post on yahoo because people laugh at them there. They can't afford SI so they don't do it there either. They get laughed at on RB also. Why do they do it here?
Well you've specifically included me this time. Please show proof of my being ridiculed elsewhere for taking issue with "semantics". Please show proof I am unable to "afford" a membership at SI. Please show proof that I post at a second grade level. Please show proof.
I have stated clearly why I post here at IHUB instead of elsewhere. It is because a certain type of intinerant miscreant is far less accepted in this venue than at the other examples presented.

>>This isn't lying?
"maximizing the positive, and minimizing the negative"
Not necessarily.
For example:
A CEO comments that sales are up 50% (backed up by the financial report) and that earnings are up as well but downplays the information that margins are flat and the company has lost a small amount of market share. He says that margins have been flat for many quarters without negatively effecting earnings. Further worries about the market share are unfounded because the fluctuation is withiin normal parameters and marketing is taking steps to increase market share. Depending on the industry and the company in particular everything said is accurate and true at the time the statement is made. Yet a year later those flat margins and decreasing market share have resulted in an erosion of earnings and a decline in the stock price. The CEO reported correctly and emphasized the positive. Conditions changed. That doesn't make the CEO a liar or dishonest. Was he wrong? In hindsight yes. But if we could invest based on hindsight we would all have bought tech by the truckload in `96 and sold at the peak in 2000. CEO's don't get the luxury of posting what has already happened. they are expected to predict the future. Sometimes they get it right, sometimes they don't.
Remember when you call ALL CEO's LIARS...
You are calling Jack Welch a liar, Bill Gates a liar, Dick Cheney a liar, Warren Buffet a liar, Steve Jobs and thousands of small business men and women a liar... and we resent it.

Go for it. Take the lying skunk down. Just don't rope everyone else in as bad eggs because of it. The CFO could be a perfectly OK dood! So could the employees. They may even be victims of the CEO's falseness. And just once, don't attack the shareholders. Sure some of them won't like what you have to present, But if you present it with ice cold logic and hard facts without any attempt to embellish...some people will get the message. If you have the facts you don't NEED to add all the trimmings you are so fond of.

Paid promoter's all lie
Been there and done that. You still insist on making these same over generalizations ad nauseam.
You apparently just can't comprehend that the problem isn't your message...it's the delivery.
For the record...Some paid promoters are crooks, be careful before making a buying decision based on information from a paid promoter.
CEO's, being people...have been known to prevaricate in some shape or form from time to time. Some more than others. It is not known what percentage of current CEO's have prevaricated in the last thirty days or for any specific time period since no study of this phenomenon has been deemed suitable for any scientific organization to spend time and money to find out.

Patsy,
I doubt that the original founders of the boycott idea had the intention of doing anything wrong. I believe that, born of frustration, they sought to do something. And for that I personally commend them.
Let's not let what was begun with a good heart go to waste. You now have the attention of thousands of people. You have a website that could be used to effect change without placing anyone at risk. Instead of calling people to boycott...call them to send email! there is nothing I can find morally, ethically or even legally wrong in voicing your opinion to the relevant Government agency.
Here is the email address: rule-comments@sec.gov
Here are the relevant topics that address the issues sought to be raised by the boycott:
1. short selling File No. S7-24-99, Release number 34-42037
2. ECN as MM for OTCBB Securities File No. SR-NASD-2001-44
3. Manning Rule Release No. 34-43944; File No. SR-NASD-00-22
Before you send go here to read about these issues and get the comments that you should make to help correct the inequities we face in the market.
There is a limited window of opportunity to get this message out. We need to present a unified face to the powers that be AND THE MEDIA! Some of the people involved here have the connections necessary to get airtime for this issue. But we must act now! Don't quit! The SEC is ASKING FOR COMMENTARY on the very issues raised in your boycott petition. You obviously touched a nerve with the general public.
Take this and RUN WITH IT! Promote the concept of emailing the SEC!

Oh but we do! That is the difference we clarify and specify the first time around. Are we perfect? Nah, we get tired or angry or distracted and sometimes aren't as clear as we would like to be but that is part of our humanity.
Once again you present a sweeping generality. Most of the posters here at IHUB are very good at posting solid information and provide underlying basis for their opinions. Many post links to back up their statements without a single request having ever been made for them to do so. Some avoid even the appearance of posting an unsupported statement. You are not being held to a higher standard. You are being asked to raise your standards to those demonstrated as acceptable by the community. There is no written rule that you must post absolute facts with supporting evidence or that you must post in a clear and concise manner. It is a free country, you are allowed to post sweeping generalizations, unsupported claims and boldface lies if you so choose. But because it is a free country...WE also have the right to refute your false claims and ridicule your generalizations as we see fit.
Make up your mind...do you want to have your posts accepted as reasoned well worded commentary? Or do you wish to have lots of people talking about your latest slam and how (insert appropriate adjective here) it is?

Interesting theory,
But one with holes large enough to drive a truck through!
Biggest one being this...
evwap executes block trades at an AVERAGE price. With the idea being that the trader with not be entering a position with a built in disadvantage. By their very nature, the kind of traders you hold Valentine, Kernaghan and Jameson up to be not only want to insure their trades are not placed at a disadvantage but wish to ensure that their shares are purchased at a distinct disadvantage, so they can then use the profits to either gain control of a company at "fire sale" prices or never have to cover their short position at all.
Is it possible that they might be trying to gain control of the company? Sure, but I think the reason is more to ultimately put an end to evwap as it is a threat to their long standing practices. Much the same as they are trying to shut down any company that might be in a position to take advantage of the proposed rule change for 6540(b).

Hopefully some of you are already familiar with my reputation for doing the homework before making brash statements and will thus receive this missive in a positive light. For those unfamiliar with me...this is not intended personally.
Although your motives are honorable, and in spite of the fact that few signing the petition will not be true to their word...
THE BOYCOTT WILL NOT DO WHAT YOU THINK IT WILL DO!
By far the greatest majority of small investor's are positive people and therefore typically go long in their investments. By removing your buying power many stocks will break down below the levels that you have been supporting them at. The MM's and the Offshore shorts will have a free hand. Look for new lows in all of your favorite stocks. But this is not all that will go awry. When you return to the market the MM's and OS's will continue to short into your buying pressure because that is what they do. Their objective is to break your will and finally getting you to capitulate and close you position at the bottom. That way you get to hand them all of your money. They will only let up once this capitulation occurs. You have just blinked. You have telegraphed your frustrations and let your opponents know they are close to their final victory. They smell the blood in the air and are ready to deliver the coupe de grace. You have set it up for them with your petition. For three days you will give them total control and if you should renege on the petition, they will be hounding the SEC to check YOU for manipulating the market! It won't have to rely on an ambitious young SEC attorney trying to make a name for him/herself calling for YOUR trading logs. The MM's will be calling the SEC themselves! And probably every shorter out there!
Before you get too angry with me... I am on your side...completely. But you have chosen the wrong vehicle.
In this post http://www.investorshub.com/boards/read_msg.asp?message_id=179106 Gary presents the request for opinions on the OFFICIAL establishment of ECN trading for everything all the way down to the pink sheets! Instead of a boycott you should all be sending the following to:
----------------------------------------------------------------
Securities & Exchange Commission
450 Fifth Street NW
Washington, DC 20549-0609
File Number SR NASD 2001-44
To whom it may concern,
I, __________ a concerned investor, wish to voice my support for SEC Release No. 34-44732; File No. SR-NASD-2001-44 regarding rule 6540(b) for Self-Regulatory Organizations;
It is my belief that this change will encourage the free flow of trades currently not evident in the OTCBB market.
Sincerely,
___________
----------------------------------------------------------------
This will have a far greater impact than the boycott could (even if every single OTCBB investor joined in AND held true for the full three days). Of even greater impact will be the actual use and support of the new ATS's (Alternate Trading Systems) and SRO's (Self-Regulatory Organizations) as they emerge. Already some of the big players in the P&D and S&D crowd are trying to kill these before they get started. An early SRO entry XCHC has been getting serious negative commentary from Wall Street Week's , Daryn Fleming a long time major P&D now doing his best to knock down XCHC. The Major players fear this because it will but the average investor on a LEVEL PLAYING FIELD with them. It will make it much more difficult for them to manipulate prices since all trading will not have to go through them anymore.
But you already knew this. That is why you ask for it in your boycott petition.
If everyone that has already signed the petition will send the letter above to the SEC (probably need to get it in the snail mail by Tomorrow latest) you will easily outnumber the MM's who have already sent in their opposition. You may not outnumber all of the bad guys, but the SEC will give greater weight to letters from small investors...after all that is who they are supposed to be protecting.

>>It would be great if Matt could have chairmen and directors click agree to a statement where they agree they are not paid promoters, consultants, investor relations, public relations, media relations... for the company, paid or not. Doubt it can happen.
As long as none of the people mentioned above distribute misinformation there should not be a problem with them doing whatever they please. It would be nice if everyone was an honest, upstanding citizen with loads of integrity and ethics. It isn't the kind of thing you can legislate. There have been laws against bankrobbers for centuries, a great percentage of bankrobbers have been caught and incarcerated for years or executed...yet every day banks get robbed all over this country.
Instead of going after "everybody", concentrate on the known shysters. gather and present real evidence of their misdeeds. Present it to the authorities. That is the only chance we have of doing any good in a battle against those who will lie, cheat, steal or kill to separate us from our hard earned money.

Quahog & Muelhead
Quahog,
As a Christian, I take offense at such blasphemy. I respect your right to disagree with Muelhead concerning MMMM, but that does not excuse such blatant disrespect for something that is so very near and dearly personal to the hearts of many people.
This was completely uncalled for.
Muelhead,
The NASD has already begun paving the way for ECN on the OTC AND THE PINKS! In fact there is a new company setting itself up as an exchange to specifically take avantage of the opportunity being created by the demand for better management of trading in OTC and pinksheet stocks. It is called the X-Change (XCHC). Take a look and what Gary and I have been posting about these very events recently.
Matt,
I apologize for getting into a bit of a stock discussion on the Q&A board, But I felt it was necessary...in more ways than one.

aloalo91,
I, for one, expect this new exchange is worth something. Lots of positives right now and tremendous potential. They have newsletters singing their praises UNCOMPENSATED. Those guys won't talk about their grandmothers without compensation!
Only reason is they need a "big winner" to show off to potential subscribers.
Shorts are very active in this one, so expect a lot of bashers to show up. Mostly they will want to compare it to WAMX. Big mistake, WAMX is an ATS (Alternate Trading System) XCHC is an SRO (Self regulating Organization). There are far fewer obstacles for XCHC to overcome (regulations wise). NASD's recent indication that they want to set up and alow ECN trading for OTC's and Pinks makes XCHC's development even easier. Look out, you may be able to tell your grandkids about how you got rich because you were an original investor in the X-Change!

Frank,
I believe in the modern vernacular "whatever" is one word. <g>
Seriously though, how many of these have we seen in the last four years? I have searched high and low for the bottles, even gone as far as taping shows and renting the movies and watching on slow motion for a bottle of Aqua Vie. I missed the Murphy Brown spot (before I became involved) but I haven't spotted it in a single movie or TV show yet. And surely we have had one of these a year for the last four years, it ought to have shown up once. I think this just may be further evidence that all is not right in Ketchum. Another name dropping PR without substance.

Matt,
This conversation between grw5 and sarals brought a question to my mind. Borrowng from LG's tagline "think like a criminal" what if an unscrupulous individual were to include one as a director on their board without getting permission or even notifying you? At present there seems to be NO way of knowing if someone has done this to someone here at IHUB. But it would seem to me that it would be prudent (at the very least) that a PM notification be automatically sent whenever someone is named a director on a board. I also once suggested that in a members profile a list of all the boards they chair or are a director in be listed. It might help increase the activity on some of our less active boards.

It actually shows some modicum of wisdom on Hickey's part that he hasn't sold Beaufort too quickly or for a lowball offer. It also shows well for him that he hasn't just jumped at every new project that comes along either.
Now if this market will just get it's act together and start going in the right direction...UP!

Discovering revolutionary companies with a lot of growth potential
THE X-CHANGE CORP (OTCBB:XCHC)
Let's face it.
Today's market has left investors chewing on their fingernails in fear. But you could be one of the lucky ones...the champion investor who everybody envies: we'll let you in on a little secret, which will make you a very substantial profit:
The X-change Corporation [XCHC], traded on the OTCBB.
The X-change Corporation is developing an alternative trading system which finally makes it possible for more than 5600 Pink-Sheets companies to be traded fully automated instead of by telephone!
Currently, these Pink-Sheerts are virtually impossible to trade because there is no central order book and no central order routing. Due to the X-change, this will all suddenly change, making it possible for thousands of US companies to be traded easily from all over the world, expanding their liquidity and significantly increasing their value. So the X-change is in fact an emerging stock exchange, like the Nasdaq and the OTCBB were a long time ago!
In our opinion, this represents a tremendous investment opportunity since there is a very high demand for such an automated trading system. And there is no competition: The X-change is the only company developing a solution, making it a very safe investment. At $0.70 you would not be buying a stock, you would be buying a stock exchange! This company is extremely undervalued and based on EPS projections a price target of $6.00 can be reached in the near future.
Strong Buy Recommendation

AMAZING POTENTIAL :
Revolution:
XCHC revitalises an antiquated trading system: their proprietary software is designed as an alternative trading system for low liquidity securities.
XCHC has formed strategic alliances with industry leaders in the field of online transaction processing.
Investor Awareness:
XCHC is not yet known to the general public since it started trading only a few weeks ago. But this should soon change when the investor community discovers the underlying potential.
The X-change is only trading at $0.65, which ensures a very high upward potential.
Revenues:
Member fees are basically a seat on the exchange and will be at a yearly rate of $10,000. The company estimates it will have about 4,000 members within three years.
Firm listing fees are priced at a yearly rate of $12,000. The company projects at least 1,000 such listings per year.
Transaction fees have been calculated at $1.00 per transaction and more than 10,000 transactions per day are expected in the first three years.
Surveillance fees have not been calculated into these projections.
Clearing and settlement fees have not been calculated into these projections.
Based on actual experience with exchanges and clearinghouses around the world, the company has developed the following realistic revenue projections:
Fiscal YearRevenuesEarningsEPS
2001 est.$ 14,079,000$ 9,240,039$ 0.42
2002 est.$ 30,260,000$ 19,876,000$ 0.90
2003 est.$ 56,900,000$ 37,374,000$ 1.70
Based on EPS projections, a price target of $6.00 can be reached in the near future.
In our opinion, the X-change is ready to start moving up with little attention from the investor community. Any significant news release could trigger this reaction.
After all: why would you buy a stock, if you could buy a stock exchange?
XCHC Alternative Trading System
The X-Change is the developer of an alternative trading system for securities otherwise excluded from conventional trading venues. Pink Sheet issues, traded through the National Quotation Bureau, are the company's primary focus, but the system will also handle other Bulletin Board stocks, American Depository Receipts, private placement issues, and shares issued under SEC Rule 144.
These securities issues are often sold at significantly lower prices than real value due to the absence of an efficient market mechanism. The X-Change will offer a method of transaction that will serve this poorly addressed market and act as a platform for investing in young, emerging companies..
The X-Change's alternative trading system will provide market transparency, realtime quotes and trade reporting and live data feeds to the National Quotation Bureau and third party data vendors. The system receives securities orders via the Internet or a private network, performs price discovery and delivers orders to multiple execution destinations. The system then feeds back transaction confirmation to the order source.
The system will allow investors at all levels to make investment decisions, based on reliable market and pricing information that was previously unavailable.
CONCLUSION
The X-Change is a company with a proprietary trading system, entering a market that is in high demand for the service they provide. By providing a transparant trading system for Pink Sheet issues, these will become more attractive to the investment community. This will generate a continuous flow of new users for The X-Change.
At $0.70 you would not be buying a stock, you would be buying a stock exchange. This company is extremely undervalued and based on EPS projections a price target of $6.00 can be reached in the near future.

Your not the only one with work to do far into the wee hours of the morning!
Besides, You don't need me to repeat things I've told you before and that many have posted here when you ask for suggestions. Remember sometimes a quiet BOP is a happy BOP!
Seriously though, Your recent changes and additions are going to make the IHUB experience better for all concerned. the only item I would change is that I would not allow the Free (Ghetto) version folks the privilege of starting ANY board. Moderators need to show they can practice a little moderation before they start moderating!
I do hope the servers are ready for the load because as this idea spreads and the market picks up...IHUB will be the focus of a WSJ article, not a sidebar.
BTW, when do we get the VHS version of the spell checker?
