I used to hate meeting folks when i was in business who spent the first part of a conversation, just after meeting me for the first time, and spending minutes telling me how great they were.
Once I got so sick of it, while still shaking their hand, without skipping a beat, I said, "Wow you must really be impressed with yourself," and it went right over their head. True Story, think his title was plant manager and he used to put out a recording device in the middle of the table for all meetings.
I keep getting a familiar feeling while watching thld go between .5 and a buck. Reminds of of ole corx.

MTV Movie Awards Scraps Gender-Specific Categories

Audiences watching this year’s MTV Movie & TV Awards will not see some familiar categories.
The Viacom-owned network announced Friday that its flagship awards show would eliminate gender-specific categories for the first time. In lieu of categories like “Best Actress” and “Best Actor,” this year’s ceremony will honor “Best Actor in a Movie” and “Best Actor in a Show,” the Associated Press reports.
The move from MTV follows similar decisions among entertainment award shows to honor stars with non-gendered awards.
This month, Billions star Asia Kate Dillon, who identifies as gender non-binary, submitted for Emmy consideration under Best Supporting Actor, because the Television Academy allows anyone to submit under either Actor or Actress categories, according to Variety.
“The Television Academy celebrates inclusiveness, and as we discussed with Asia, there is no gender requirement for the various performer categories,” the Television Academy told Variety. “Asia is free to choose the category they wish to enter.”
In 2011, the Recording Academy, which sponsors the Grammy Awards, scrapped more than 30 nominating categories, including best Native American album and best spoken-word children’s record.
This year’s Grammys featured its first-ever male and transgender “trophy girls” tasked with presenting music’s top honors onstage.
MTV’s ceremony will also rename its Best Fight category to Best Fight the System, the AP reports, as a nod to social activism.
The MTV Movie & TV Awards will be hosted by actor Adam DeVine on May 7.

MSNBC’s O’Donnell: Maybe Putin Masterminded Chemical Attack So Trump Could Look Good by Striking Syria
by IAN HANCHETT7 Apr 20172505
On Friday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “The Last Word,” anchor Lawrence O’Donnell stated that “if Vladimir Putin masterminded the last week in Syria, he has gotten everything he could have asked for.” O’Donnell then floated a theory that Putin told Syria’s Bashar al-Assad to launch a small chemical attack that was big enough to attract media attention and prompt President Trump into launching a missile strike, which would then change the subject from Russian influence.
O’Donnell said, “[W]ouldn’t it be nice if it was just completely, totally, absolutely impossible to suspect that Vladimir Putin orchestrated what happened in Syria this week so that his friend in the White House could have a big night, with missiles, and all of the praise he’s picked up over the last 24 hours? Wouldn’t it be so nice if you couldn’t even in your wildest dreams imagine a scenario like that?”
He added, “I don’t know what it is. Is it a 2% chance? Is it a 50% chance? Is — I don’t know. But what — I don’t think it’s a 0% chance, and it used to be, with every other president prior to Donald Trump.”
O’Donnell further stated, “Well, when Bill Clinton fired missiles during his presidency, Republicans questioned that. They questioned whether that was to distract attention from the Monica Lewinsky scandal, and that was a legitimate question.”
O’Donnell later added, “It’s perfect, just perfect. I wish it wasn’t. If Vladimir Putin, if, if, if Vladimir Putin masterminded the last week in Syria, he has gotten everything he could have asked for. Vladimir Putin was essentially the man in charge of making sure that Syria got rid of all of its chemical weapons under a deal with the Obama administration. And so it makes perfect sense to question whether President Bashar al-Assad would have checked with his most important patron, Vladimir Putin, before using chemical weapons that Vladimir Putin was supposed to have helped get rid of. It would be terribly embarrassing to Vladimir Putin if President Assad had exposed Vladimir Putin as having completely failed to get rid of those chemical weapons. You wouldn’t want to be Bashar al-Assad in a conversation with Vladimir Putin after that, unless you had a conversation with him before that. Unless Vladimir Putin said, ‘I have an idea. go ahead, do a small chemical attack, nothing like the big ones you’ve done in the past, just big enough to attract media attention. So that my friend in the White House will see it on TV. And then, Donald Trump can fire some missiles at Syria, that’ll do no real damage, and then the American news media will change the subject from Russian influence in the Trump campaign and the Trump transition and the Trump White House.’ It’s perfect.”
He continued, “For most of the news media, it changes the conventional wisdom about the dynamic between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. President Trump has finally dared to do something that Vladimir Putin doesn’t like. It changes everything. As long as you never, never question whether Vladimir Putin wanted all of this to happen this week. And when you question that and you look at what has happened, it’s always worth remembering that if Vladimir Putin really does have ways, known or unknown to Donald Trump, to influence Donald Trump, then every day that is a good day for President Trump is a good day for President Putin. Now not one word that I’ve just said could possibly have been said about any president prior to Donald Trump.”
O’Donnell further said, “you will hear opinion in this hour that is counter to the possible scenario that I have just outlined, but what you won’t hear is proof that that scenario that I’ve just outlined is impossible.”
O’Donnell did say that he raised this scenario “without assigning a statistical probability to it. I don’t know what it is. I just know that it’s not zero, and it should be zero. It has been zero with every previous president. But when you look at the way the events have unfolded this week, Donald Trump could not have asked for a better end of the week, for his presidency as he sees it.”
During the panel discussion that took place after O’Donnell’s monologue, he did concede that it did make sense to notify Russia in advance of the strike to avoid further escalation.

i see it as win, win, win
win #1 = we could have set "red line" in sand and done nothing like bo, or we could have sent msg that we are not the same country.
win #2 = china, you reign in north korea, not like last 30 years, but really, or we will, before they get lucky and lob a nuke tipped icbm at san fran, within MONTHS.
win #3 = we go from feckless non leadership of last 8 years, to, we mean what we say, something only world bullies understand, not the 2013 claims by kerry and rice, that 100% of chemical weapons removed from syria. there was a reason they were outlawed by the world after ww1.
i know you guys don't agree, and that's ok, ever notice how home invaders don't get so tough when folks are shooting back at them?
anyway, take care
that is correct, that's why my potential gain was so much, i was a little embarrassed that I bought 10x of my intent, and think i may have pm'ed you that on ihubs free friday 4-5pm pm'ing.
just a friendly heads up, but i had over a year on mine, leaps.EOM

my experience with leaps is, don't get greedy, if i can take half off the table and play with house money, it's do it every time.
i once had a 17k paper gain on old zbh leaps and held to nearly nothing, last time i did that. had finger on cover button but didn't pull....lesson learned, i hope.
also i learned that i didn't have to pay the listed bid/ask on leaps. i could put in orders slightly above or below and hope they got gobbled up, just like stocks, such big spreads......
volume is everything, good luck....
take care.
ha, think we all should, in gold and silver.
take care
now that's scary EOM
so what are your thoughts on limiting ss for the wealthy?
i am for 0 payments who have regular income of say, 50k, or some lower number, protect our weak, despite what they paid in.
no way someone can run on that, no changes to the big three that sucks 75% of our tax rev, or tax transfer, or don't get elected to make the changes so badly, imo, needed.
Scientists Warn That The Coming California Megaquake Could Plunge Large Portions Of The State Into The Ocean
by Tyler Durden
Mar 24, 2017 8:10 PM
Authored by Michael Snyder via The End of The American Dream blog,
===this was picked up on a bunch of sites over the weekend, build the wall along az, nev, id, let them become own country, i'd give them 3 years to greece =====
Over the years, many people have been shown that someday a giant earthquake will cause significant portions of California to fall into the ocean. But up until now, most scientists have disputed the idea that this could ever actually happen. Well, now all of that has changed. According to a brand new study, a megaquake along the west coast “could plunge large parts of California into the sea almost instantly”. In fact, the researchers that conducted this study say that it is almost certain to happen eventually. Of course they probably don’t believe that such an event is imminent or else they would be moving out of the state like so many other people are.
When I came across news stories about this brand new study I was absolutely astounded. Here is a short excerpt from one of them…
The Big One may be overdue to hit California, but scientists near LA have found a new risk for the area during a major earthquake.
They claim that if a major tremor hits the area, it could plunge large parts of California into the sea almost instantly.
The discovery was made after studying the Newport-Inglewood fault, which has long been believed to be one of Southern California’s danger zones.
Could you imagine what such a catastrophe would do to our nation and how many lives would be lost if that were to happen today?
According to the study, a California megaquake would potentially cause some sections of southern California to suddenly drop by as much as 3 feet, and that could result in vast stretches of land “ending up at or below sea level”…
In total three quakes over the last 2,000 years on nearby faults made ground just outside Los Angeles city limits sink as much as 3ft.
Today that could result in the area ending up at or below sea level, said Cal State Fullerton professor Matt Kirby, who worked with the paper´s lead author, graduate student Robert Leeper.
Wow.
And we are not talking about something that would happen over a period of weeks or months. According to these scientists, it would be a “very rapid sinking”…
“It’s not just a gradual sinking. This is boom — it would drop. It’s very rapid sinking,” Robert Leeper, lead author of a new study published in Nature, carried out with the help of the US Geological Survey, told the LA Times.
So could a substantial portion of southern California someday actually slide into the ocean like we see in the movies?
The scientists that were involved in this study say that the answer is yes…
Cal State Fullerton professor Matt Kirby, who worked with the Leeper on the study, said the sinking would occur quickly and likely result in part of California being covered by the sea.
“It’s something that would happen relatively instantaneously,” Prof Kirby said. “Probably today if it happened, you would see seawater rushing in.”
Let us hope that we have as much time as possible before anything like this actually happens. But scientists are also telling us that a tremendous amount of seismic tension has built up in southern California, and that this tension could cause a major earthquake at any time. In fact, in my recent article about why people are moving out of California, I included a quote from an ABC Los Angeles story about how researchers are warning that a major earthquake in southern California is “way overdue”…
A recently published study reveals new evidence that a major earthquake is way overdue on a 100 mile stretch of the San Andreas Fault from the Antelope Valley to the Tejon Pass and beyond.
Researchers with the U.S. Geological Survey released the results of the years-long study warning a major earthquake could strike soon.
Today, more than 38 million people live in the state of California, and as a population density map of the state shows, much of the population is concentrated along the coastline…
So if large sections of the California coast did end up plunging into the ocean, what would the death toll be?
Would it be in the millions?
And what would such a disaster mean for the rest of the country?
The west coast of the United States sits along “the Ring of Fire”. Roughly encircling the Pacific Ocean, this vast seismic zone contains approximately 75 percent of the active volcanoes in the world and it produces more than 80 percent of all major earthquakes.
In other words, anyone that lives near the Ring of Fire would be foolish to assume that they are immune from massive natural disasters.
In 2011, a major earthquake along the Ring of Fire on the other side of the Pacific Ocean caused a massive tsunami to wash inland in Japan for many, many miles.
If such a thing were to happen in Los Angeles or San Francisco, the death and destruction would be on a scale that would be absolutely unimaginable.
When the big Hollywood film entitled “San Andreas” came out in 2015, a lot of people mocked the idea that the things portrayed in that film could ever happen in real life.
But now scientists are telling us that a megaquake could cause large portions of California to plunge into the ocean and that it is quite likely that this will actually happen someday.

i think i doubled my money on a short term apple leaps put buys last year, or at least i did really well with it. not much money but fun.
bought the put when everyone was taking it to the moon, but the hard part, as it always is, was actually covering/selling it after a short time as the share price fell back quickly, and as you you said, the cost of those puts went way up when compared to the relatively small drop in share price.
*** Keynesian school***
I can remember being taught about the keynesian model way back in school. I remember thinking it was like a household borrowing itself into a higher standard of living. I remember thinking, "I can't think of that ever working once."
I guess I could see it as a very short term move to get the money multiplier going, shut off the tap, and move on and pay down the debt incurred.
I thought this is what bo was going to do in 2008 to dig us out of the hole, but 8 years later it was not to be, and i am left to think that once the entire world went into full print mode, there is no getting out of this, just like a household, kerplunk....
amazing how long they can keep it going.....decades in general.
yea, i miss those old side by sides. now all the gun stocks are going down overall.
i can remember firing an over and under shotgun/rifle combo as a boy, but i think the top was only a 22 cal.
i took my gun safety class after school, taught by the shop teacher, still remember just about all of it. imagine that these days, ha, now some schools aren't even allow tag.....ugg.

Hello Dew D.,
Just a quick question, is that a fed and state tax free muni fund, or mainly fed?
Not a big deal if you don't get to answer, but I have an interest in taxpayer dollar based, dual fed and state, muni's as rates rise.

hey gfp,
i've always thought that it may not be possible to get funds out of the bank, via a bank run, or brokerage, due to lock up in system, or transfers to bank, which would already be locked up.
so, having done most of the things i can think of to do, i have some peace, very fortunate with no debt, no money owed on home, cars, just monthly revolving cards that get paid in full each month.
i just hope the civil unrest, should it come to that, does not get too bad, out where we are.
time to top off diesel tank out back, and finish taking care of the damage from last hurricane, followed month later by really bad wind storm, ha.

didn't see it, talk about russians having info on balckmail, how about anyone with a laptop with a .gov address. ex pres bo signed an executive order on way out letting nsa share, for first time in nations history, to share with other intel dark states, the type of intel ripe for balckmail, sc judges, congressman, senators, whitehouse and staff. what could go wrong as they pass a secrataries desk?
much deeper than press, our own intel adgencies, coming out against us. left doesn't understand, like the 51 vote nuke option, that it can be used against them when times are different. not so good.
need perp walks for sidition, treason, maybe an execution or two will stop it. only handful of people had original access to the phone calls, found nsa folks checking up on their boyfriend and girlfriends using phone taps, how about walking some of those folks, who work for us, out in handcuffs?
and so it goes.....
if it all comes down with a boom, well then, I question their ability to pay, like the movie the big short, in the event of a liquidity crisis. hope not, dollar cost averaged down, more hdge this am, longest time short for me all time, ha....

to cool, had not seen that, most tube clocks made with nixie tubes, those tubes that can display, inside of them, the numbers 0 through 9, and clocks, seconds included, can be built from there.

neighbor had weird dirty white guy show up at this door about 8pm couple weeks back, asking to use his phone to call the cops and turn himself in, neighbor called for him and he was long gone by the time they got there. said he likely thought no one was home and just checking the place out. never anything like that out here in 11 years. everyone is armed out this way, other neighbor is setting up railroad tie and dirt shooting backdrop that he thinks he can get 100 yards out of without leaving his property. behind it is our many acre, never used, back yard. we told him we were fine with it and he invited us over to site in our "new 7.62x54r melot russian rpk machine gun barrel, heavy, semi auto, never fired. like the draganoff, used in wwii to shoot into the eye sight turrets of tanks, they are really accurate.
thought of you a week or so ago when i read, after midnight, a story on zerohedge, about the 35 page russian hit piece on dt being complete fake news, it was time stamped 9:32 pm.
i looked around at fox, breitbart, msnbc, and a few others and there were no other stories on it that i could find.
the next day i see everyone is running the story, dt had already twittered about it,
either they ran with it early or they have some smart folks on their end, but i often find myself looking there first these days.

Wash Post: Obama Administration Spent Billions to Fix Failing Schools, and It Didn’t Work
http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/01/20/wash-post-obama-administration-spent-billions-fix-failing-schools-didnt-work/

Emma Brown writes at the Washington Post:
One of the Obama administration’s signature efforts in education, which pumped billions of federal dollars into overhauling the nation’s worst schools, failed to produce meaningful results, according to a federal analysis.
Test scores, graduation rates and college enrollment were no different in schools that received money through the School Improvement Grants program — the largest federal investment ever targeted to failing schools — than in schools that did not.
The Education Department published the findings on the website of its research division on Wednesday, hours before President Obama’s political appointees walked out the door.
History: Trump Becomes First President to Use Words ‘Islamic,’ ‘Urban’ in Inaugural Address
http://www.breitbart.com/live/inauguration-2017-swearing-president-donald-trump/history-trump-becomes-first-president-use-words-islamic-urban-inaugural-address/
by FRANCES MARTEL20 Jan 201716208
President Donald Trump’s inaugural address made history in being the first to use a number of words, paramount among them “Islamic” when referring to the threat of international terrorist actors and his plan to eradicate radical Islamic terror groups.
“We will reinforce old alliances and form new ones and unite the civilized world against radical Islamic terrorism, which we will eradicate from the face of the Earth,” Trump said in his speech Friday morning after completing his oath of office. He noted in his speech that his foreign policy would also strive not to “impose our way of life on anyone else.”
President Trump’s predecessor Barack Obama famously refused to refer to groups like Al Qaeda and the Islamic State as “radical Islamic terrorists,” claiming the term unfairly maligned Muslims who were not members of jihadist groups.
The Washington Post notes that Trump’s inaugural address was also the first to use the words “urban” and “infrastructure,” a nod to the core message of city repair and equality of opportunity in his speech. “Whether a child is born in the urban sprawl of Detroit or the windswept plains of Nebraska, they look up at the same night sky, they fill their heart with the same dreams, and they are infused with the breath of life by the same almighty Creator,” Trump told the crowd gathered in the heart of Washington, DC.

MSNBC, ABC hosts deem Trump inaugural address as 'militant,' 'anti-Semitic'

http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2017/01/20/msnbc-abc-hosts-deem-trump-inaugural-address-as-militant-anti-semitic.html
Immediately following President Donald Trump's inaugural address, MSNBC and ABC pundits and hosts slammed the newly-sworn in President's speech for its "militant" and "dark" anti-Semitic overtones.
MSNBC's Rachel Maddow emotionally proclaimed Trump's "America's First" slogan has "very dark echoes in American history."
"There was an America First Committee that formed in this country, hundreds of thousands of people in this country, some of the richest businessmen in the country who were part of it, they were formed to keep us out of World War II. They were infiltrated by the Nazis, many of them are anti-Semitic, part of why they weren't alarmed by Hitler's rise in Germany," Maddow said.
NANCY SINATRA SLAMS CNN FOR ANTI-TRUMP SPIN ON STORY ABOUT HER HUMOROUS TWEET
Over on ABC, journalist Terry Moran echoed Maddow's comments saying Trump's speech reminded him of the 1930s.
"It carries with it overtones from the 1930s when an anti-Semitic movement saying, 'We don't want to get involved in Europe's war. It's the Jews fault in Germany!'"
Reps for ABC and MSNBC did not immediately return FOX411's request for comment.
HOLLYWOOD REACTS TO DONALD TRUMP'S INAUGURATION
gpf, i have never understood why americans are not told that the ss taken out of their checks is, in fact, a tax, that you may, or may not, get back when you retire.
if you are in need, it goes to you, not to live the high life, just to live, food and shelter, as was designed.
you don't get it back if you make some number, say 30-40000, it will be spent on those making less. if you make 40g in retirement and are depending on ss to afford your lifestyle of big house, or whatever, well guess what, you just don't qualify, it is for widows, injured, and orphans, and men who can't find work. (or women) may not be much, but a start.
just tell them up front this is not money being put away for your future, it is a tax for the gov to decide at what level is deserving of getting it in any given year.
seems that would be a start, medicare and medicade would be a much tougher nut to crack i think.
hope you are doing well.
cracked me up to read how bo is building a wall around his, i think, rented 5.3 million dollar mansion in dc, where he will stay until his daughter graduates.
guess walls are ok to keep people out when it gets close to home, if not, let the "everydayers," suffer.....not in my neighborhood, ha.
i honestly can't think of one thing he did to build up america, seemed like everything was to bring us down, now getting back at dt for early on birther docs.....
might regret it, but 3 days can't come fast enough for me.
looking at yields in big pharma right now, still would have to drop good bit first.
the crazy part of all that is civil war one was the dems supporting and wanting to keep slavery, how the heck did that ever get turned around? they are the masters of bs for sure. bo barely, or didn't dare mention, in 8 years, any real gains in the dem run big inner cities for the last 40-50 years of failed rule. look at that 23 y/o baltimore mayor, or maybe ex mayor know, prolly setting her sites on future presidency, just a guess.
