Hi,

Appears to be a new paper coming out about bavi and imaging. Popped up on a google email alert this morning.

Sorry, what is a 'sea change'?
OT, FWIW:
read this section of Lipitor Investigation:
"The commercials are certainly successful — for every dollar spent on direct-to-consumer advertising, the median increase in sales was $2.20, according to a study of 64 drugs included in a 2006 Government Accountability Office report.
Drug manufacturers have spent billions on advertising — primarily television and magazine ads. Researchers at Toronto's York University recently found that drug manufacturers spent, in 2004, almost twice as much on marketing and promotion — $57.5 billion — as they did on research and development — $31.5 billion.
The trade group for the industry, the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturing Association, disputes those numbers. Pharmaceutical research companies spent more than $55.2 billion on research and development, compared to $4.8 billion on direct-to-consumer advertising last year, according to senior vice president Ken Johnson.
"America's pharmaceutical research companies currently are testing 277 new medicines to treat heart disease and stroke, as well as 92 medicines and vaccines to treat or prevent HIV/AIDS, more than 700 medicines for diseases that disproportionately affect women, and 691 medicines to help tackle diseases that disproportionately impact African-Americans," he said in a statement. "
92 medicines and vaccines to treat or prevent HIV/AIDS
Why are they waisting their money and not just focus on Bavi?
...and MORE on Advertising than Research???
Where's the logic?
Beacon Research... not sure if shared:

RSI was in the bearish zone at 45.39 but with a potential bullish direction towards the 50% threshold. Slow Stochastics indicated an oversold condition with readings rising above the 20% level at 28.04 %K and 25.33 %D, reflecting a potential buying signal.
Sounds positive to me... and that we're getting noticed, more.
Clarification: Peregrine Contract Story
AP

TUSTIN, Calif. (AP) - In a story Dec. 14, The Associated Press reported in a headline that a Peregrine Pharmaceuticals contract with the Defense Department was halted. The headline should have made clear that it was contract negotiations that were halted, as noted in the story.

...and Sloane Kettering will become an out-patient facility??
So... all this can apply to Lyme Disease???
The WHO decided that patients only need 30 days of antibiodics. That would change 'if' they had a family member or accepted the various co-infections.
This is a serious infection...worth all that they have to those infected.
Sincerely, :)
Could someone explain what this means? TIA
(From StockTrade):
Monthly Average:
PPHM is below its 13 day moving average. This bearish sign is even more significant because the moving average is also trending lower.
Bollinger Bands:
PPHM has been relatively stable recently. This is evidenced by the width of its Bollinger Bands which are tighter than normal. Additionally, PPHM is trading within its Bollinger Bands. This is a normal condition and suggests that the stock is neither overbought nor oversold relative to the recent price action.
MACD:
The MACD for PPHM currently indicates a strong bearish signal for two reasons. First, the MACD is below the signal line, a 9day moving average. Second, the MACD is below the critical level of 0, which implies that the underlying moving averages are trending lower.
(It doesn't sound good.)
:)
OT:
Does anyone know 'if' Joe Torre still has a job?
:)

(Sell) Weak. The company’s stock is an underperformer relative to other common stocks with a similar amount of risk. While the risk-adjusted performance of any common stock is subject to change, we believe that this stock represents a poor investment based on its current valuation and the company’s current financial position. Even weak stocks can rise in an up market. However, Wall Street interprets our "D" rating as a Sell.
Not a good message to other potential investors....
They need the science.

Chris S. is a frustrated shareholder of Peregrine Pharmaceuticals. He writes, "I have been in this company for six years! Ugh, what a disapointment! I can't understand that with no negative reports about their drugs they can't seem to sustain a fair market price. Please enlighten me!"
Chris, sometimes a chart will tell you all you need to know -- and Peregrine's isn't pretty. As you're painfully aware, this stock has been a single-digit midget since 2000. I don't think it has traded above $3 since 2002. Right now, the stock sits at 67 cents.
I hadn't looked at Peregrine for years before getting your email, but what I remembered about them was that they were developing drugs -- vascular targeting agents -- that sought to disrupt and destroy the blood vessels that feed tumors.
A quick glance at the company's Web site shows that the VTA technology seems to be on the back burner in favor of some new anticancer and antiviral drugs.
I know the market isn't always right, but in this case, it's hard to argue against its verdict on Peregrine. Sorry, Chris.
Maybe he needs to be enlightened??
Broadening the thought...
How cheap would insurance become? Not much profit for them??
Bavi MOA has a LOT of pressure.
Not to exclude that the Insurance Companies tell the doctors ‘what’ they can prescribe.
Who’s shorting?
You hit the nail (IMO)...
These doctors have spent unmentionable $$$ to acheive their skills... Not all for the well being of their patients without the reflection of a serious income.
IF Bavi really works and becomes SOC ... what happens to their ways of making an income? Sloane Kettering would be ruduced to an outpatient clinic.
Just a thought...
:)
.....an experimental immunization now in human trials that was developed by the HIV Vaccine Research Center of the NIH had shown more-promising results in monkey trials than did the Merck vaccine. BAVI????

Vote Set on Merck's New HIV Drug
AP
Posted: 2007-09-05 08:23:42
WASHINGTON (Sept. 5) - Government advisers are scheduled to vote Wednesday on whether a first-of-its-kind HIV drug from Merck & Co. should be approved.
The Food and Drug Administration will ask a panel of outside experts whether Merck's Isentress is safe and effective for HIV patients who have stopped responding to medicines already on the market. The agency is not required to follow the group's recommendation, though it usually does.
If approved, Isentress would be the first in a new class of treatments called integrase inhibitors that fight HIV by blocking its entrance into cells.
FDA posted a highly favorable safety review of Isentress to its Web site Friday, indicating the drug showed only mild side effects in company tests. Agency reviewers also said the drug appeared superior to current options for HIV patients who have developed immunity to established drugs.
FDA has cleared 30 different HIV treatments since 1987, and they are typically prescribed in combination to suppress the virus, which cripples the immune system and causes death if left untreated.
Roughly 1 million people in the U.S. are HIV positive, according to the Centers for Disease Control.
I've been trying to research 'who', 'what' CINN is, with failure and frustration... ??? WHO, WHAT??? are they?
TIA
That could be a blessing to the people with Lyme Disease!! Which has many serious co-infections...
And...now the WHO claims only 30 days of antibiodics are necessary. (An independant organization you'd like to trust.)
I was wondering, glad the question was asked.
OT Jazz...personal request,
I have concerning question that I would like to ask you privately. Is that possible?

This is exciting!
agree!
exciting, encouraging post!
Thank you Jazz!!
If there’s a cure, would you want someone with more money to say you should die?
...and the patients. What we (humanity) really 'all' want is to have the science available to save lives (worth living) and to eliminate the damnation of a crule death.
All this news is sad. It just shows money is worth more than life (of a dear’d loved one).
I just know, that 'if' I ever were to get sick, I would want Bavi or Cotra available. Not at my last days...without any hope... BUT, from the beginning. With a short infraction of illness. Not as a last maybe resort, after being in agony and worthless to all the functions of life.
The insurance companies should smile of lower health care... or frown for less income?
This science can help children! The promise to our future. Not to mention other important relational members of life.
I believe the science (especially with Jazz's posts) to be real...and threatening to current procedures. Think about how you would defend your piggy bank if someone had a cure that would end your great revenue from current soc procedures of severe suffering and no promise or hope back to health?? Gee, the current soc would stop making soooo much money and go out of business. I know they don’t want that. In conversation, a doctor once told me, many years ago, that they have cures but can’t use them. He was very sincere.
I think the science does have a cure... for most of the heartbreaking reality of a great percentage of a suffering world.
I'm not sure if management is guilty of not making the right decisions as may have suggested. Probably. Perhaps they are under the pressure many of the honest and sincere politicians experience. But!! what I believe they and all of us (regardless of our frustrations of the purse) should mostly focus on is the promises of health offered...and to kick the greedy (I don't care) perspective thinking to the curb without respect. If it was ‘their’ mother or themselves... boy the focus of price would change quick.
Most of us invested because we believe and saw a light to have hope in the well being of life lived. There are a lot of hopes for promises in this science.
I do not understand stock stuff, but read everything with the hope to understand. I don't think possible. You are all too smart for me.
I'm not sure about the bod or management. You know more to expect than I do. I understand an idea and trying to make it happen. I understand the threat that the science is to existing (money making) practices... AND the power of those in control, not wanting to lose it.
Is it the BOD or management's fault to face off to such GREAT competition? Is it not the competitions fears trying to discourage? Are we, the shareholders (that do invest first for the science...with the hope of return) losing the importance of our intent?
All of those on this board are frustrated...all who have invested with the hope of a better quality of life. But imagine...being the patient waiting for the hope to stop suffering... from every city, state in the US to around the world. I have met the people in this boat. I have heard the excruciating agony they go through to maintain life...at a bare ability to exist. Personally only a kindness is all I have to offer. But!! Bavi and Cotra have solutions. It is not just the patient that suffers. There are parents, children, others. Have you ever had to care for a dying loved one?
What management and whomever needs to concern themselves with ... GET THE SCIENCE OUT!!!! ASAP!!
I think that they are trying...with GREAT obstacles and probably severe threats. The pharmaceutical industry 'tells' the doctors of our day 'how' to prescribe.
?? Who is really in control ?? the bod, management or the predefined?
I don’t have the knowledge to agree or disagree with the manipulations. But, manipulation is obvious. Like for any sincere and serious cause, we need to unite. Can the SEC help? I don’t think they care other than the stock price.
As posted by Jazz, others, the people involved are quite intelligent and seriously taken. They know what is going on, no doubt at all. They see what is potential (and I personally expected them to get involved with saving the science.) There’s more than one cook involved. Probably a lot of egos wanting to have top billing. There is something else going on behind the scenes. I propose that perhaps management is trying to salvage the science from a take over (to possibly suffocate) and possibly involving R&R to get control over the whole situation. I would like to think that they’ve been trying all along. But with this time of the internet and broad knowledge available, they are making their last ability to get it out, past the threats of their predecessors. Maybe the silence is to prevent lawsuits of exposing the harassments (which could be denied). Trying to keep it all alive. Maybe also using the same logic to get cooperation from those who could help make it work.
JMHO.
Like I said, I don’t have the great understanding of most on this board and just try to absorb. But as I try, this is my reflection.
The price is majorly unfair for a ‘safe’ treatment to stop deadly diseases. Just imagine how many more inflictions could be eliminated, once they can get past the basics. Imagine a society that cared about helping each other rather than profit...like the original doctor’s dedicated their knowledge and abilities.
Sincerely,
SmilesFromWithin

Biggest % Gainers: Peregrine Pharmaceuticals (PPHM - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr) jumped 37 cents, or 36%, to close at $1.39 Thursday after the biotechnology company said it would enter into development collaboration with Dios Therapeutics. California-based Peregrine develops therapeutic treatments for cancer and viral diseases.
"We look forward to conducting the next set of clinical studies to further explore the potential of bavituximab as a novel cancer treatment."
This statement stood out strongly to me.
Novel: of a kind not seen before.

Can someone explain what was meant by:
"We look forward to conducting the next set of clinical studies to further explore the potential of bavituximab as a novel cancer treatment."
Agree. It is a pattern. As soon as I saw the shares & pps go up, I expected news today. Someone has insider info and using it.
Just wondering, because I believe in the science...
Can?? we get Elizebeth Edwards in the program???
:)
Could the $30,000,000 stock shelf be for litigations?
:)
Are these two different occurrences?
Biotechnology company Peregrine Pharmaceuticals Inc. said Friday it opened a wholly foreign-owned subsidiary in China and sued licensee Cancer Therapeutics Inc. for alleged breach of contract.
What does it mean: “it opened “; ‘wholly foreign-owned subsidiary’
Peregrine Beijing Pharmaceuticals Technology Development Ltd.
TIA
:)
Agree!
Just wish lives could be saved and made a better quality with the approval of the science. Too many deep pockets don't want to lose their revenue.
Don't the insurance companies tell doctor's what treatment they approve of?
Thank you for the many brilliant minds that contribute here!
:)
How much did it cost to screw a tire to every breakroom of Home Depot?
Before the Tire of the Customer is always right, the Returns Register has been the busiest department of the whole store...now, management is just giving away our mdse. Not only do we return their money for something not just used and destroyed...but also replace the product with a higher grade ... for no charge.
Great Plan! With enough problems of cutting the knowledgable staff (replacing with part-time kids), second to the frustration of not have the product on the shelf...
When do we go out of business?
PL1, (I wish this was personal)
I appreciate your intellect and many of the contributions that you make! Only I must say that some of your posts express great frustration and pain. Which makes me consider that you vent it out on others. I have learned that we can only give what we have. Continue to contribute your wisdom and insight and avoid the anger or judgement of others that don’t agree...it’s more constructive... and you will find more appreciation for your outstanding contributions.
I am not as knowledgeable about stock and get very frustrated with my limited knowledge of the medical terms involved here. I keep hoping that eventually after reading I will consume. What I do understand is the miracle of this science...and the hope that it holds out to sooo many suffering...beyond imagination. Whatever avenue taken to make it to the next moment should be admired. It doesn’t matter how...just that they haven’t given up and continue to hope, not wasting away idle but still active and contributing...again, many from their perspective. There are many sides to a mountain....all trying to get to the top, with many views.
I have spent a lot of time with HIV and HVC infected people. What they must endure to just make it to the next day is horrendous. God bless them for the will to live and have hope. Bavituximab is their closest hope for freedom offered yet to date. They are not dealing with a medical condition which an aspirin, antibiotic or surgery can make go away. I couldn’t imagine the frustration just waiting for the success of something to make their nightmare finally go away. I just pray it happens sooner than the earliest projection. Especially the AC aspects of Bavituximab...that could have saved my Mother.
I was excited about the posts about a month ago in reference to multiple infections. It has been my consensus that if treated for any malignancy that flags would (or could) go up for all.
Another point I wanted to inquire from you was about something you posted in reference to high cholesterol products and the neropathic deteriorations. Someone who I cared for died of ALS and sworn that it came from the Lipator that he had taken because he was strong and healthy before hand. I don’t know what my question is but your post stirred his comments.
I wish you well! I write this because I respect your knowledge and contributions but feel you get off track defending yourself, which only makes waves for more. Whether or not we agree, it is best to view opinions in the democratic way. It’s not right, it’s not wrong...just different.
This board means a LOT to me. I have the GREATEST RESPECT for the posters here!! Spared the screening of nonsense and given an opportunity to learn about what is happening and how to see things from a different perspective.
Sincerely,

Thank you again for such a great place to learn what is going on with Peregrine!
I tried to read Peregrine Palace, but suppose I need a signon. So.. I went fishing and Peregrine is listed as the top Biotec Industry Performer!!!! Above the rest!!
Now to keep trying to read referred article.
Have a GREAT day
:) Smiles
There is sooo much for me to learn and understand. But! what I DO know is that "if" I ever get ill with any of these diseases... I sure hope that Bavituximab is available!! And, I agree with the interest to know more of what is 'truthfully' going on.
I have worked with people suffering beyond appreciation with HIV and HVC. I was astounded by how many suffer in my small area... and that does not include the ones I don't know. Whomever I speak with knows or has a relative suffering from HVC. Totally took me of guard.
I have listened to the horror stories of the current medications being used. Beyond grief. What a miracle it would be if THIS research could elevate sooo much suffering ... to the point of an anguished death.
I have medically learned that HVC can live 3 weeks on a table top. If that virus becomes on your finger, and you pick a pimple that bleeds, or nose with open membranes...guess what a blood transferred germ can do.
This is exceptional technology! Beyond the dollar. I wish I could buy.
But, IMO, the real threat is how advanced it is and how it really will effect the BIG pharmaceuticals with there attempts and PROFITS!!! and the many pockets that benefit. There have been many cures squashed because of the money lost over how things are currently being done. Be informed.
Can you imagine... someone you love, or self, being denied the cure to allow them to live because there isn't enough profit being made? What a terrible sacrifice...and greed.
Baxituximab has a lot of serious answers. I would question, who has the power to bully them out of the market.
The numbers SHOULD be a LOT higher for what is being proven available. We sadly do not live in the compassionate world but of one of who can keep the power with greed.
Imagine the millions that suffer that could!! have a normal hope in life...but can't because someone in power doesn't want to lose it.
I would ask these questions and try to imagine the unsaid pressures Peregrine must also include with their stance.
They have proven the ability of their science. Questions storm why haven't they excelled. They have the miraculous key.
So, IMO, they need encouragement more than anything. Because, IF, someone I love (again) needs their knowledge to treat them... it WILL be available.
Sincerely,
SmilesFromWithin
