therose,
Mr Machen must feel very positive about CSMG to add such a large block to his already sizable position.
express40
Is that an insider purchase I see?
express40
CSMG routinely files a Notification of Late Filing by the date the 10-Q is due because as, was told to me, it cannot receive data from the Ukraine in the same time frame as US information.
The 10-Q always meets the 2nd date from my observations.

ninjaturtle,
Look closely; I believe that's a TYRANNOSAURUS you have by the tail!
express40
ninjaturtle,
Thanks for your very plausible interpretation of today's info release.
I suggest that we closely reread CEO Robbins words. For example, his use of "major" is not indiscriminate but is used in the classical sense to mean greater in size, amount, extent or importance.
The word is comparative of the Latin magnus, great. But like the word "awesome" the word "major" has little impact.
The market is missing what the PR is telling it. IMO
express40
I may be missing something here but this latest CSMG announcement is a tremendous, unexpected bonus for shareholders. Read about Naftogas. Our little company is moving with the elite on a world-wide bases. And still sells for pennies. Astounding! IMO

express40
Lowman,
I've wondered too why there is not more activity in CTUM given it's potential. My simplistic explanation is (1) there's not any hype in the stock. Mgt. has refused to spin this story. The routine release of just the facts is a style many people don't react to. Since there have been no big national articles or investment research reports detailing these new technologies, the stock quietly builds value.I may be totally wrong but I see this strategy as an example of the uncommon brilliance of CSMG management. The company has integrity written all over it. Yet, all the time the spring grows more taunt. (2) It's too small for the institutions. (3) some see the two technologies as just theoretical at this point. IMO
express40
Lowman,
Thanks for your post! I have been here mostly reading the posts on this excellent board.
CTUM has a dedicated cadre of longs controlling a growing percent of a small float. It's going to get interesting when longs like me, who refuse to sell at these levels, are joined by others who also won't trade their positions away.

Recently I did some house cleaning and trashed a fair number of folders I had maintained on micro, venture capital and small cap stocks going back to about 1990. I also spent some time looking over investment reports prepared by our small cap managers for presentation at trustee meeting. Over the years some companies did well, others not so well.
From old habit I subjected many of the stocks to a ouick blast of DD and then made comparisons with CTUM. Not one stock measured up to our yet to be discovered gem
CTUM has so many srong reasons to own it but I won't try to list them. For the investor wanting growth in the years ahead, it would be wise to park a few shares in the dark corner of his/her lock box and forget about doing any trading.
My opinion only.

Lowman; In his current book, HEDGEHOGGING,by Barton Biggs,he discusses the philosophy and style of the great investor Jesse Livermore who said that when you found a position you could truly believe in you should sit tight."Don't over-think it and don't over-trade.
Most of us will never run across another opportunity as pristine and virginal as CTUM in our investment careers. I puzzle that this gem is still undiscovered.
Traders pick the low fruit for the quick and easy money while the long investor must be patient IMO there is a risk in being familiar with a stock that has the potential for years of growth building. There may be a short or two and a smattering of traders who will painfully remember that they missed this rare opportunity.
express40
A problem defying solution....this mysrery of how the price of the shares of a company is established. If you go the speculative path and play price only you will probably lose over the long run. Thare are few microcap stocks that have the quality to persuade a move from fixed to equity and one of those is CTUM.The shares of this small asset rich company drift about at a low price that is both puzzling and ,frankly,a little wierd. But what does the future hold? Loking out not to far, IMO, the chemistry of many investors will
alter abruptly, the PPS will move up sharply and will seem somwhere near correct for a short while until animal spirits in the market place take over and the ever patient LONGS will have dreams realized as they happily tiptoe through the tulips and exit the party.
Express40
(My opinion only)
Most or us are a bit frustrated during this long wait for fresh information on CTUM,our favorite stock among a universe of other opportunities. I suggest rather that the CTUM investor enjoy these days realizing that each share owned alreaby represents a substantial value above cost It seems that an abundant amount of anxiety goes along with microcap investing yet in this case we really ought to be going around with a permanent smile on our faces! Attitude, that's the word. The uninitiate seller has marked the price down again!Ferdinand Foch, WW1 French military leader, said it well: MY CENTER IS GIVING WAY, MY RIGHT IS IN RETREAT; SITUATION IS EXCELLENT,I SHALL ATTACK.
Express40
I have no desire to jump into this endless debate whether CSMG is a fundamental or technical play. From a career- long association daily with investment managers of every persuasion-micro, small cap, large cap, growth, value, emerging, international, etc -stocks tend to fall easily into standard categories. For example, making a buy/sell decision based on earnings trends would would very likely mean that a fundamental analysis was being made, making a decision based on price movement with little or no regard for earnings would probably signal emphasis on the stock's momentum.
Some stocks are difficult to put a label on and trying to do so can be a waste of time. Our favorite micro stock does not look, smell,or feel like an issue a pure fundamentalist would buy. Conversely,CSMG seems out of place in the momentum camp because it's intrinsic value is far beyond the current market valuation. The stock is really a hybrid, sometimes fundamental and sometimes momentum.
I own it. For me, I own it in abundance. At no time have I thought that I was buying a momentum stock. What we have here is a company that has created such a locus of proven value that we don't know what to do with it. As volatility increases, short term opportunities draw players while longs find new evidence daily that CTUM, backed with a value seen now only in part, may be the best buy of our investment lives
Express40
oilbaron has pointed out that this is an institutional stock. Just wait til CSMG peeks up on the bottom of the radar screens of the thousands of portfolio managers world wide.
Express40
who will venture a guess ot today's volume?
Express40
I think one reason that very little press is given to landfield gas is that most people have never heard of it and know nothing about the enormous potential of this renewable energy source.
Express40
There is an old three- line Egyptian proverb that can easily be extended to four- lines by augmenting with an additional thought:
THREE (FOUR) WORST THINGS
To be in bed and sleep not
To want for one who comes not
To try to please and please not
To tire of Bashers who leave not
BASHERS; What if a few longs finance two or three days of R&R for the Basher contingency on the CSMG Board. Interested?
Express40
alas, the debate between the longs and the shorts on the CSMG Board has the potential of becoming tedious. We are almost to the point of weariness on a couple of subjects and are running the risk of compounding the boredom. Perhaps a personal testimony would offer some variety. Therefore, I would like to state in a few words my reasons for owning CSMG. But first, a disclaimer: I have a substantial position in CSMG which I have steadily built up over the months.
Having some familiarity with equity investments,I liked this story from the start. Every time I performed a little DD I felt even better about it. Obviously, this company is early-on, subject to most of the risks and unknowns that are common to small microcaps. But the potential was and continues to be electrifying. I decided that the risks were acceptable and that, in this unique instance, there was a counter risk I faced in not taking a position- a totally unappealing choice.
Investing is anticipatory, the placing of bets often on things not yet seen. I think we are not aiming high enough in stock price guesses. My guess as to where CTUM is going on the first sustained run would be in the $8.00 to $10.00 range. Express40
Reading the bits and pieces of out- of- date CSMG related arcana offered up from time to time by our Basher friends, it appears that we have among this group an odd mixture of both specialists and generalists...which reminds me of a quote, (author forgotten). "The specialist learns more and more about less and less until finally,he knows everything about nothing; whereas the generalist learns less and less about more and more until finally,he knows nothing about everything."
Express40
Airdale,I am not in favor of bashing the "Jr. Bashers" on this Board. It may not be their fault if they have arrested mental abilities. We need representation from a variety of intellects including the bright AND the vacuous.
Express40
Very inspiring. Thanks for posting
Express40.
Good post, Starboy.
I'm intrigued with the scarless feature of LTB especially for cosmetic applications. Think of the potential..if prices are acceptable to the market
Express40
You are right starboy, small stocks with capitalizations big enough to attract institutions, can and often do get beaten- up when the money goes away. But, interestingly, the better microcap issues many times will act like submarines that dive deep below the surface when the storms rage and thus avoid the turbulence above.
If you believe that this capitalistic system will somehow survive the days of the bear, consider the gutsy strategy of holding or adding to your micro positions during stormy weather - unless your reasons for owning these little companies in the first place has changed.
Express40
To clarify,I am long retired from the money management business.
Discussing the suitability of CTUM for an institutional account was not my reason for the post.
A discussion of risk and the risks related to CSMG would take too long and probably not be worth our efforts.
Looking closely at your words and listening to the tone of your expressions, I have to conclude that your sour, bilious, hyper-judgemental style of communication is a substantial risk to the quality of gracious, business and social intercourse. I can only wonder if your selection of securities is made with the same turbo speed you used to make this evaluations of others you know not?
Express40

nor advise nor consult and only respond to the occasional
question about what I like by reporting what names I own,
great to have these Boards for open discussion of investment issues.

Lowman.
As an institutional
money manager for 29 years,I saw hundreds of portfolios come and go. During those years I learned that few managers, if any, would risk penny stocks for obvious reasons (liquidity, etc). With so many of the small stocks just a little DD would show them unworthy of ownership. However, with CTUM, we have a unique, rare exception, unlikely to appear again for years. This opportunity is here, now.
If there was some slight of hand that could change the price of CTUM to $15 or $20 dollars per share with nothing else altered and a report on the stock could be slipped on the desks of small and mid cap analysts,
I assure you there would be a fearful feeding frenzy,
CSMG at a quarter! crazy! Proves to me that quite a few investors, especially those that are liquidating, are confused as to what investing is all about.
Express40.
in2lite, could you amplify on the last sentence of your post?
Express40
That fits perfectly. I like "Lowman" better. Thanks.
Express40
Actually, snoozing can be the best way to be a market winner sometimes. CSMG is the obvious example of this pleasant, low energy strategy, Those of us who claim to be longs probably ought to take a Rip Van Winkle quality nap to avoid the temptation to lighten up or sell it all when the next big news comes along.

CTUM has an enormous potential for expansion from it's two core
products and from new technologies yet to be developed. Your pick of CTUM as "stock of the year for 2007" is right on target, I think it may be an even stronger candidate for that distinction in 08.

In the discussion of a possible buyout of CSMG, where would the Ukraine Connection fit in?
