Jonesi, a '3rd Possibilities' here.
From the pt. of view from the investors, if before you do any v.c. financing, the intentions of the borrower is different or 'obvious' than the traditional financing, say, Cornell knew Neom just borrow the money and didn't want any 'partnership' tie with them. Then Cornell not need to list their clients per se. It's only one time deal, when Neom turns around (when, who knows? hope soon), then Cornell would be out of the pic. JMHO <b/>
With best regards, BM
Dlethe, I just got time to scan the board and saw your msg. Oh, btw, thankyou, StreetS., that's cool. Also, thankyou, Saint A. for answering the question.
I think the Neom website just got updated w/chinese version.
Just like Saint A. said the One next to Q read as 'code' in chinese, while the rest of the description is a translation in chinese from english.
Also the chinese can download the 'quode' from the neom website now. that's a good news, just in time to get ready for Olympic 2008 head to head with China Mobile. Then News Corp. should be very busy with their subs over in china @ this moment. Everyone shouldn't jump off the roof if whenever some big news coming from china. 2007 looks brighter and brighter now.
But the market still waiting for the issues on the financial & the new replacement from Neom. JMHO
With best regards, BM
Thankyou, Jonesi, for spending time to put up all 'those wonder' O/S.
Have you ever thought abt. the 'silent v.capitalist' ? JMHO
With best regards, BM
Thanks, elliot. A good est.
Also if you know you own a co. with IP assets, you'll discuss with the proper IP lawyer abt. the 'TakeOver' or 'BuyOut' already, they'll put a 'Poison Pill' into that to counter these. JMHO
With best regards, BM
Thanks, dlethe01. Actually this is a very 'smart pick' for Neom.
When dealing with cross countries business, sometimes you have to think abt. the political issues too. Usu. Europe cos. have better tie w/chinese companies than U.S. Why? It's because looking back to the history between two continents. Europe you may think as socialism while China as Communism. Same as Scoiet and China.
So, you'll see more European cos. do much better or easier than U.S. cos. Now, Neom has a 'chief' running the Europe/Asia division, it's a good choice. JMHO
With best regards, BM
Thankyou, Les. Pls. understand that the pps. so low making everyone panic/scare, etc. That's exactly what the 'Mkt.' wants to see right now.
It takes courage, motivation & more to be successful whatever a person wants to be.
Like the DD's dlethe just posted (thankyou), something is 'cooking' over there. When making deals, not just sign your name on the piece of paper, more gets involves esp. involving hi-tech across the two continents.
Make it simple, for e.g., when you go out to shop for a car, you know how many makes & models to choose from, after that, then comes to finalize your decision abt. financing.....something like that. JMHO
With best regards, BM
Neom 2006, be cool. Let's take a few steps back and think abt. a minute.
I think CF has been working aroung the clock to 'Make' Neom better than before by flashing back our memories about the decisions he did lately.
If I were him, I would rather work on my priorities than spend more enough time on my holidays. JMHO
With best regards, BM
A very goood read article. Thanks, dlethe01.
I would advise this is a 'must' read aticle if anyone wants to do business or understand the way of doing business in China.(I would say this is 80% correct and I can't say 100% 'cause human nature still exists for any cause.)
I did check the asia office of Publicis in china this afternoon. They do have branches there. That's the advantages for Neom or HP if they want to stretch out further for their IP business.
One thing is for sure for Neom to go faster and bigger is to partner w/mobile carriers, either China Mobile, China Unicom or China Satcom.(because no matter how big your ad. agency is can't go any faster and reachable than the mobile carrier.)
Now the feasible candidate would be China Unicom. First China Unicom uses Qualcom Brew sys. while China Mobile uses TD-SDMA (china own sys. from Datang Tel.com). Also China Unicom always comes into No.2 no matter how hard they try.(they hate that sh**).
Also China Unicom can configure into 3G from their 2.5G much easier than China Mobile, TD-SDMA.
One more thing China Mobile already displayed their DM Code reader machine in Hong Kong Tel. Convention and the machine will be scheduled to use at the 2008 Olympic Games. (They also have the big DM code on the supermarket floor, and also they have the code on some of the newspaper too.)
Time is the issue now for Neom if they want a bigger piece of the pie.(Hope someone pass this to CF if you don't mind.)
Well, I'm still glad to hear some good things starting to roll right now. JMHO
With best regards, BM
Please pay attention to the Auto Insurance Unit, that's where Neom's (agreement with 5 major insurance cos.) money could be made.
P/S: Don't forget abt. the future agreement with more ins. cos. & DMV from the Chinese govn't. A lots of money. :) JMHO
With best regards, BM
Thanks, dlethe01. Here's another one from AutoMart-China Mkt.

Hope not too late to say Happy New Year to All.
Hope everyone has a Prosperous Year in 2007 (wish a new high for Neom) & Best wishes to your family.
Anyone got your 2007 New Year Revolution yet?
I see Neom got early started its revolution already right before X'mas, that's a good start.
If we've somehow got our new financier to settle all the financial issue with a new competent CEO to steer Neom to a new horizon, then Neom is for sure on the come-back trail.
In addition, with favourite ruling on the Neom patent's issure, of course w/a couple mega contracts, I would ssay Neom will pass the 52 week high this year. JMHO
With best regards, BM
FIY: Hwy 15 to/from L.V. has been jammed big time before & after New Year. Hope see you guys sometime late this year.:)
Dr.Mike, actually we have to look @ both angles, being a CEO has to be businessman & strong bkground what you're doing.
He can be a CFO, COO too. Diversify, multi talents should be.
JMHO
With best regards, BM
Stock_r_m, thanks for compliments. Same to you. You see what I see. Bottom line is how to find a competent, visionary, big heart, creative, innovations & 'affordable' CEO, lol.
This ain't easy. Being a most sought CEO, he won't negotiate the terms. Neom have to present the terms to him and let him to decide and he won't turn it down(That's the way I would do).
So, if this is the case, only durable solution is stk. options, and he needs to see the future of Neom what it'll be. Then Neom'll have the new CEO. Otherwise, might as well CF continue his role of acting CEO, then the pps will continue to drag like it is now. A public co. has to know how to play the mkt. too, not just earnings, revenue, etc. The CEO knows how to present(sell) to the Wall St., 'cause he is part of a 'salesman' too, knows how to make 'deals', .... and so on.
You can see CF is much more seriously now than before, even though I haven't met him, but from the things he did in the last few days, what we can do right now is to stay focus, the mkt. is playing with us now, be cautions.
Any missteps right now is very critical, not kidding. It's a matter of life and death.
That's also the reason when Neom got the news, the pps goes down. The mkt. is playing with the co. It's not easy just like 'Quicksand' when you're down. JMHO
With best regards, BM
Neom2006, think of this way. CJ was first hired as CFO, then COO, then CEO. Sometimes a person has to know about himself if he is capable of handling the 'big' job. Just like if we can handle the tolerance of the risk when u invest, esp. the OTC. CF & CJ both make the mistakes and that's what CF is trying to do now, Neom is his blood and he'll try every way to make it work even it takes a little longer than it should be.
Whatever you invest has been invested, just look at the brighter side. Tomorrow is always a brighter day. JMHO
Nice talking to you.
Same to you, have a Happy New Year.
With best regards, BM
Neom2006, I think this issue has been talked over here before.
Well I'll try to make some sense here. First how the CEO get paid is out of my league, this goes to the chairman & the BOD to decide how the CEO get paid, whether CJ has a new mansion or private jet, so on, pls. bring it up to the SHM, I just invest here and I'm not hired to run this co., ok. JMHO
With best regards, BM
Neom2006, good point. CF is now acting CEO and he is looking for the new CEO. What he is trying to do now just the same as any chairman of the board would do, someone has to take the fall if anything doesn't work out like the way should be. It's the way to do business, also that's why CEO get the fat pay ck. JMHO
With best regards, BM
OK, Enough is Enough, Everyone. Calm Down. From the 3rd party, that's what they want to see and hear over the board here crying out loud, while they love to see the Neom going down at the same time.
Psychology works by MM's and 3rd party. They're playing with u guys. When u invest in stks, prepare to expect the unexpected.
Doesn't matter in NAS, DOWS, FUTURES, MINI, CBOE, etc. It's always like this. They play with the general public with their sentiments in psychological way. When the co. has good news, the pps going down while some cos. report a poor earnings, their pps going up. How's that happen? It doesn't make sense, right?
(Think about this, only one of the tricks!)
Of course, some of here may jump off the ship and try to land onto a safe land instead to go down with the ship. But think twice before u do that. What's your motive in the first beginning when you put your hard earn money into this stk., because u see the opportunity this 'thing' is going to be 'big', right? Well that's the risk you'll have to take. Lose big or Win big, one way or another, otherwise you might as well invest in INTL, CSCO, OR GE, to earn the dividends. But I'm not talking about gambling here, sure, some may say this is gambling.
Just have a different point of view.
Try to put yourself into CF position now, you'll see what he is trying to do now, more or less, wouldn't be far off.(A few things already done.)
When there is no buying pressure, there goes to the MM's playing with u. They have to keep the market moving. Don't worry abt. that. Right now, the pps down, sentiments low, cos. chaos, that's exactly the time what MM's love to see and buy the shrs. cheap. Not enough buyers @ this time, when the time comes, the pressure build up, there goes to the pps. The general public would not buy when the stk. is down, only the opportunists would do that.(Play contrarian).
Other things already said by the dedicated board members here regarding of the progress of Neom, thankyou for that. JMHO
With best regards, BM
SS, well said, pay attention to News' and also their allies over in china, they keep the news very tight over there. something is going on. JMHO
With best regards, BM
Ha, it could be right for 'some' other OTC cos. but not w/'some' other cos. of having the 'patents', the right to license, just like their trade marks. They're different storeis w/different approaches. Use it 'wisely' & u'll be benefit in some ways.
Sometimes even w/NAS stks. you'll still run into troubles of losing big time, e.g. Global Crossing, Metrofibre, just named a few, they're gone or BK. Just need to do your own DDs before u invest.
When dealing w/NEOM right now, when 'something' is not done 'right', i.e. they haven't done their homework before you do your X'mas shopping, charge on your plastic cards, then when the bills come, you can't pay so either you return it to the stores or use cash advance cheque from the other cards to buy some time hopefully it'll work out later......just something like that.
Well, this time CF see the problems getting more seriously, he didn't hestitate to ask his Dad to step aside so he can revamp the whole situations, firing the imcompetent persons did such lousy jobs. CF can sense this time is urgent which won't wait for him if he didn't do anything abt. it. You can see the decisions he made in the last few days, he means business, either do or die. Personally I like the way he handle this situations without hestitations, i.e. making decisions. JMHO
With best regards, BM

A MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL.
Ha, my mistake, I mean the one to run the U.S. division.
Believe or not, CEO always involves "SALES", EVEN THE U.S. PRESIDENT , FRANCE, GERMANY, CHINA, etc. THEY ARE THE DOING THE SALESMAN JOB. If you pay attention, everytime when they visit one or another, they always sign a multi billion $ "Deals" back home.:) (It's nothing wrong being a salesman, we're the salesman ourselves everyday one way or another, actually it makes you being a better "Negotiator". :) JMHO
Merry X'mas,
With best regards, BM
It's Christmas! Let's enjoy it w/your family & friend.
Whatever happened has been happened. Let's focus together and share the DDs on this board.
Always, Running a business is totally "different" than Opening a business. Anything can happen no matter how well you plan it out. When thing goes bad, somebody always has to take the "HEAT" and it is always the CEO, etc. That's why being an CEO, you always has "BACK UP"(Contigency Plan), Like in the army, "Two is One, One is None." Running a business like you're in the battle field, always expect the unexpected.
Being +ve is a good attitude, your life would be much fulfilled with joy and easier than -VE.
Seems the new CEO has high score on Sales (that goes w/Revenue also, etc.) background. That's a good news. At least he knows how to close "DEALS" & "NEGOTIAIE", THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE A GOOD CEO MUST POSSESS. CEO is just like a salesman. You need to "sell". JMHO
Again, it's Christmas, Let's enjoy and share it with your family and friends.
P/S: Thank you for all the long time & dedicated board members here. You said and share whatever needed to be said & shared on this board. :)
With best regards, BM
More Behind the Today's News__China's insurance cos.
PICC Completes Joint-Stock Shift
08/04/2003
The largest non-life insurance company in China, the People’s Insurance Company of China (PICC) completed its joint-stock restructuring on July 19 and was renamed the ICC Holding Company. It also has two new subsidiaries, PICC Property and Casualty Co. Ltd and PICC Asset Management Co Ltd. The changes were all made with the approval of the State Council and the China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC).
The restructuring process took six months. Tang Yunxiang, general manager of PICC Holding and chairman of the two new subsidiaries, said the restructuring is a milestone in PICC’s development and ill be a great boost towards the company’s goal of floating on the Hong Kong stock exchange, according to a report on the company’s official websiteThe company’s core operations were transferred to PICC Property and Csualty, widely believed to be the entity planning to float on the market. The property insurance firm has registered capital of 8 billion yuan ($963 million) and more than 60 billion yuan ($7.2 billion) in assets, according to Tang.
*****************************************************************
picc holding co, which owns china’s largest property insurer picc property and casualty co, is moving closer to its goal of becoming a financial group operating both life and property insurance businesses. the company’s life insurance joint venture, which is still being developed, will soon start recruiting senior managers, sources said yesterday. the joint venture, which will be 51 per cent owned by picc holding, won regulatory approval earlier this year, and investors have held a meeting to mark the firm’s establishment. the life insurer will be 29 per cent owned by sumitomo life insurance co, japan’s fourtlargest life insurer, while hong kong’s asia financial holdings ltd and bangkok bank public co, thailand’s biggest bank, will each hold 10 per cent, according to a bloomberg news report yesterday. the new company, which will have initial capital of 1 billion yuan (us$121 million), will be the first foreign venture to receive a nationwide licence, which means it does not need further regulatory approval to open branches, philip ho, asia financial’s spokesman in hong kong, was quoted by bloomberg news as saying. the establishment of the life insurer will be a key step forward in picc holding’s "comprehensive operations" plan with the ultimate goal of forming a financial conglomerate. picc holding unveiled its health insurance subsidiary last week, which is 51 per cent owned by the company and 19 per cent held by german health insurance giant dkv. "the establishment of picc health insurance is a reflection of picc’s strategy of comprehensive operations," tang said at a ceremony marking the inauguration of the health insurer. besides picc property and casualty, which holds around two thirds of china’s property insurance market, picc holding now also owns an asset management firm in shanghai. chinese insurers are not allowed to conduct both life and property insurance concurrently. but many are branching out into other business arenas, largely by restructuring into group companies, to enhance their competitiveness in the face of growing foreign rivalry. among others, huatai insurance co ltd, a major property insurer, launched its life insurance arm last week.

PICC.Promotes.Online.Sales
2005-10-12
Chinese Internet users now number a staggering 87 million, 6.4 million of whom shop online on a regular basis, official statistics indicate. However, a recent survey by PICC Property and Casualty found that as many as 35.6 per cent of respondents were unaware that insurance is also available online.
"It shows that insurance e-commerce faces the problem of hugely insufficient investment in publicity," Wang said. "E-commerce is very difficult for insurance," he said in an interview, adding that online sales of insurance policies account for less than 1 per cent even in countries leading in this area, such as Germany.
"It requires effort from the entire industry, and will benefit society by reducing consumption of resources," Wang added.
Online sales will also reduce the local industry's reliance on traditional channels of agencies or bancassurance - insurance sales in banks -, where a commission war has been eroding insurers' profitability, analyst say.
PICC Property and Casualty will soon launch its second generation of e-series policies, which will feature travel-related products, company executives said.
The underwriting operations of China's first listed insurance company, which launched its initial public offering last year in Hong Kong, has witnessed strong growth this year. Turnover from the motor vehicle sector, the main pillar in the mainland non-life insurance sector, increased by a robust 4.8 billion yuan (US$578 million) in the first six months

Try to think Neom as one of the worldwide Insurance & Property & Health Insurance Conglomerate like News Corp. in the Near Future.
But now the market has still to wait for the answer regarding of the Neom financial outlook & new replacement @ this moment.
Then to get enough "Coverage" to the public & Wall St. Now the public see the potential of Neom going to the China market in different "Sector" as a Good Sign, and if Neom can move further more to another "sector" (of course w/another partner), like newspaper media (just the same as in Europe), or even better w/mobile carrier, I'll say we're almost done (unit it's done). The deal, financial terms of which were not disclosed, makes BSkyB the first company to licence Google’s video technology. It follows Google’s acquisition of YouTube, the video-sharing website.

What the raid on ITV means for...
Andrew Edgecliffe-Johnson and Emiko Terazono

British Sky Broadcasting’s swoop on ITV’s shares changed the UK media landscape in a matter of hours on Friday, with profound consequences for rivals, shareholders and regulators. The full consequences may take months to play out. Here is a guide to some of the implications for the key constituents.
James Murdoch
BSkyB’s chief executive has made a big personal gamble. His strike on ITV is the 33-year-old’s most controversial move since becoming chief executive three years ago.
The move invited comparisons with his father, Rupert, a master media tactician, who only a month before had built up a similar blocking stake in John Fairfax to ensure he had a pivotal role in the liberalisation of Australia’s media industry.
James Murdoch, the younger son but already the one most likely to succeed his father, will now have to prove that he has his father’s stomach for a fight, as much as his eye for an opportunity to frustrate his rivals.

ss9173, well said. Quite some news today. Today's corp. world, being an CEO has to be Creative, Innovative and Motivated. Then the market look at your "Results". For examples, Aggressive like Oracle CEO-Larry(buyout PeopleSoft), or Creative like Steve (create iPod. to save Apple). It's too late to point the fingers now.
Let's look at the bright side and tomorrow is always a brighter day. JMHO

Travel could be part of the pie and also we can add Entertainment(Cinema, nightclubs, etc.) for mobile ticketing.
At this moment, could we just go with the cos.(or sector) with the "signed" contracts or agreements (Not Promo.) with possible revenues first? (Just a thought, this is an open discussion, I may be wrong.)
BTW, the posts I did on the reviews on Neom are just for Ref. and try to make easier to do the follow-up. JMHO

DD on Java or Brew (China Mobile or China Unicom)?
..."China Mobile has been adding new customers at a faster rate than Unicom due to its wider choice of (phones) and better network coverage," said Sandy Shen, an analyst in the Shanghai office of U.S.-based research firm Gartner.
Merrill Lynch analyst Wendy Liu says China Mobile has been out-gaining Unicom by a wide margin in rural areas.
South Korea's SK Telecom (NYSE:SKM - News), often considered one of the world's most innovative wireless firms, acquired a stake in Unicom in June. That relationship could help Unicom develop better products, analysts say.
China Mobile has two main growth engines, analysts say. It's adding more rural subscribers and it's getting more revenue from wireless data services.
China Mobile garners almost 20% of total revenue from text messages, ring tone downloads and other data products.
In rural areas, some China Mobile farming customers use cell phones to check weather forecasts, a data service, says Lehman Bros. analyst Paul Wuh.
China's government is expected to issue airwave licenses for next-generation 3G services in early 2007. China Mobile could benefit by selling pricier data services such as music downloads and even mobile TV, analysts say.
On the other hand, new players could enter China's wireless market by acquiring 3G licenses, analysts say. Merrill Lynch, though, expects the government to issue only three national 3G licenses, limiting competition.
And China Mobile has eyed expanding into other markets. Its $4billion deal to purchase Millicom International, which has wireless customers in 16 countries, fell through in July.
China Mobile's chief executive has said the company is still looking for acquisitions internationally, mainly in Asia or other emerging markets.
China Mobile Communications, the state-owned parent of China Mobile, has the financial tools to make such acquisitions, says Jane Wang, an analyst at research firm IDC China.

Yahoo! China, Out of the Game?
http://www.businessweek.com/print/globalbiz/content/nov2006/gb20061130_996798.htm
....Money for Nothing
That poor performance may be fueling tension between managers in China and anxious Yahoo! executives back in California. Mark Natkin, managing director of Marbridge Consulting in Beijing, believes that Xie's ouster "underscores the difficulty of having foreign management—especially remote foreign management—in a Chinese tech company." Even though Alibaba now owns Yahoo! China, "Jerry Yang has 40% of Alibaba and he still wants to be heavily involved."
For his part, former Yahoo! China general manager Zhou Hongyi is crowing. "Yahoo paid Alibaba $1 billion, and I think that the main purpose was to win the search market in China," he says. "But after one year, Jack Ma has spent a lot of money but the Yahoo China business is very, very bad."
While others say that there's still time for the Alibaba team to turn things around, Zhou dismisses the possibility of a recovery. "Forget Yahoo China," he says. "They are out of the game."

Try to visualize the dots...between these cos. with Neom.
The DM used by China Mobile(supplied by Gmedia with 7 patents on Data Matrix) is enough for all the contents they try to provide to the end users? (couldn't comment here w/o the info on what kind of patents Gmedia own).
Yahoo China would be desperate to partner w/anyone who can give them a lead after all the trials failed lately.
Motorola has been trying hard to partner with the emerging markets in China lately. They are cash rich and willing to pay for the right co. JMHO
