SHANGHAI (MarketWatch) -- UBS Securities Co., the joint-venture brokerage between Swiss bank UBS AG (UBS) and the Beijing government, has received a sponsor qualification from the China Securities Regulatory Commission, UBS said Wednesday.
"Together with the basic securities license granted on Dec. 11, 2006, UBS Securities can now start marketing domestic IPO and secondary capital-raising services as well as investment-banking advisory to domestic clients. This license represents an important acceleration in the expansion of the UBS Securities service offering," UBS said.
The qualification signals that UBS Securities, which was accepted by the Shenzhen Stock Exchange last week as a member, will start business in China soon, analysts said.
UBS Securities was created from the restructuring of Beijing Securities Co., which was owned by the Beijing municipal government. UBS agreed to pay $210 million for a 20% stake in the restructured brokerage.
UBS' partners in the brokerage include the Beijing government, which holds a 33% stake, and International Finance Corp., the investment arm of the World Bank, with a 4.99% stake.
UBS Securities Co. is China's first full-service brokerage run by a foreign firm. It will underwrite securities, manage assets, publish research and conduct other brokerage business, the Shanghai Securities News reported.

Normally i don't play Bio tech stocks but this is an undervalued comp with a FDA approval drug + Prolnidac phase 2 trials.
If you check the bi0 stocks even without a FDA app most have a minimum $200 MM MC = $50 PPS for ACCP .IMO

OT -Norwerger ,i forgot to tip you ACCP ,check it out .This tiny comp has a FDA approval drug with a MC only in the $30 MM.Most comp with FDA approval drug have MC in the 200-500 MM =$20+ PPS.

Market enthusiasm is generating an average of 90-thousand new accounts a day at the two stock exchanges on the Chinese mainland. A stock trader is allowed only one personal account on each of the two bourses, Shanghai Stock Exchange and Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

Turnover on the Shanghai Exchange hit a record 104 billion yuan, Wednesday, bringing combined trades on the two bourses to over 150 billion yuan.
