other than day traders, why wouldn't one be further establishing a position down here with news on the horizon and another quarterly improvement ?
webcast next week !
risk/reward: AMR, up 700% has 156,396,000 shares outstanding and an EPS of -$19.19 and was facing bankruptcy earlier this year.
someone should pick apart their 10K--lol
in the meantime investors have run the price from a low of $1.25 to $11.56.
the market will decide what value IFE, ECLIPSE, Odyssey 1000 and WIRELESS markets are worth as they continue to come into focus.
with the ipod already high profile and generating some impressive numbers and these other markets not even in the public eye yet, for the most part, EDIG is a great value here imo.
cool, the Chairman of the Board is involved in leveraging his own money to keep this company moving forward. He also bought shares last August, again, with his own funds.
I like that kind of committment.
Let's hope he's there for us when a much larger deal presents itself.
CDR, at this stage of the company's development, top line growth with an improvement in the bottom lines is definitely acceptable, imo.
should this trend continue quarter upon quarter and you have a nice little company developing
with a surprise or two along the way, or a home run such as the IFE article referred to, we could be looking good.
you never go straight up. just a pause to refresh before we go into a new week with a webcast whose focus will be on new business.
the numbers finally experienced a turn around just as we are to hear more.
backing and filling and then hopefully a new leg up.
if you look at the chart for the past 3 months the pattern has been similar, fwiw, but specific news can make this a very different game.

what NREs did EDIG receive from SAMSUNG, if any, and does anybody have an idea what that was for ?
but wasn't the operating loss greatly reduced from previous quarters which amounts to the beginning of a turn around ?
And that together with the new contracts signals even better days ahead ?
then that's great. all forward looking as to the announced deals. the webcast should shed some light on time to market for the upcoming contracts.
With this in our future,

the turn around may just continue.
was any income from the 3 $1 million contracts figured into fiscal Q4 or is that all to be laid down in the coming quarters ?

A PDA Built For Video
Amy Wu, 06.26.03, 10:00 AM ET
NEW YORK - There's a new kid who recently moved into the already highly competitive pocket-PC community. No, it isn't a cousin of Palm, Handspring or NEC. It's JVC. JVC?
The Japanese electronics concern partially owned by Matsushita (nyse: MC - news - people ) is more famous for its camcorders, CD players and TV sets than handheld gadgets. But it's been hungry to break into new terrain for several years, said Al Levene, JVCs vice president of new products and special markets.
JVC's iO Pocket PC
"This area seems natural to us," Levene said. "We are using that technology to break into some areas that we have traditionally not been involved in."
So on Monday JVC officially entered the fiercely competitive personal digital assistant (PDA) market by unveiling its iO Pocket PC line. Expect a tad of confusion as Microsoft (nasdaq: MSFT - news - people ) recently ditched the Pocket PC name of its handheld platform in favor of Windows Mobile 2003, which is what these handhelds will run.
JVC is positioning the iO line toward the video-savvy. Besides offering all of the functions of the average PDA, both models are built with video and audio in mind--playing a variety of formats, including MPEG4 files. The higher-end MP-PV331 has an MPEG4 video capture feature that allows users to connect to certain JVC-made video cameras. It can also stream video from the Internet via Wi-Fi wireless networking.
Other features include a graphic equalizer for customizing the sound quality, a sound-position expander that creates a broad sound field when listening through headphones and a Compression Compensation Converter that enhances digital signals to improve fidelity. The latest Microsoft Windows Media Player is also included.
The new line will be available towards the later half of September and will be sold in the U.S. and internationally. The company is in the middle of ironing out the details of an advertising campaign but won't dish up more specifics.
One thing Levene will admit, though--JVC's PDAs won't come cheap. The MP-PV131 is advertised for $500 and the MP-PV331 at about $600. Other Windows Mobile-based PDAs are coming down in price. Viewsonic just announced its V36, which will include its own integrated camera for $330--though other high-end models, including some of Hewlett-Packard's (nyse: HPQ - news - people ) iPaq family, are still priced in the $400-to-$500 range, depending on model. JVC reckons that business travelers, AV enthusiasts and wireless fanatics will be willing to pay a bit of a premium.
"We're going after the mobile professional person who spends a lot of time in airplanes and wants something light that he can connect for e-mail, and also would like the ability to record video from a camcorder and send it out to someone in sales like their customers," he said.
Nonetheless, there are a few catches involved with JVC's PDAs. For the MP-PV331 the video streaming only works with JVCs digital cams. However, the company wants to increase compatibility with other brands of cameras in the future.
So has JVC lost their marbles by entering new terrain? And why go against PDA goliaths such as Palm (nasdaq: PALM - news - people ) and Sony (nyse: SNE - news - people )? Levene said that the PDA is a natural extension of the company's bread and butter that plays off its strength: video.
Other new entrants are pouring in. PC maker Gateway (nyse: GTW - news - people ) recently joined rival Dell (nasdaq: DELL - news - people ) by disclosing plans for a PDA product that should launch sometime in July. The Legend Group and Panasonic will follow suit. Is there a trend here? In the three years since Microsoft first launched the Pocket PC platform (which in itself was really only a rebranded version of its Windows CE software) the number of manufacturers building PDAs on its platform has increased from five to 30, and at least a dozen of those have signed on with the latest version of the operating system.
"There's still a lot of room for growth," said Ed Suwanjindar, product manager with Microsoft's mobile devices division, who forecasts that the market is still big enough for new players.
JVC's Levene is happy to hear that, but first the company will wait and see what kind of welcome party it gets in September
how are the Odyssey 1000 firmware updates going ? anybody go there yet ?
not much of a range to get screwed in today. probably have to bid it up to get filled I would guess.
seems too orderly. actually good to see it calm and holding while we wait for news of new company business.
are most of you placing market orders or setting a specific price-or-better scenario ?
just curious as over 500K shares traded so far and not much price movement.
chuck329, I noted you refuted the claim that EDIG's standard language in their PR was unique to EDIG with your Qualcomm reference and that no one besides you spoke to that false claim. Simply amazing how official company reports are twisted to reflect something unethical being done by the company when it is apparent that this is not the case.
Efforts like yours are needed to set the record straight and expose those who are posting these misperceptions.

It is interesting that the assumption continues to live on that investors first came to this investment, at its highs, and then relied on posts on message board threads for guidance for their investment dollars.
That is the most absurd argument I have ever heard. Anyone who first purchased this otcbb after it had moved from pocket change to the $20 range was attracted by the sheer momentum of the move.
Those looking to "jump on the train" were looking for the quick buck and have no one to blame but themselves. They themselves helped to fuel the expectation for a continued upside.
The exhuberance of the market at large may have added to the investor psyche at that moment in time but to blame any one individual for posting their perspective IS A BIG COP OUT and the most infantile form of avoiding personal responsibility I have yet to see.
People go to Vegas every day, and know what the risks are. The otcbb is no different. Huge profits can be had but the risks are inherent in the system.
Those who found EDIG at $15 and bought in after that huge run and now try to shirk their personal responsibility need to reexamine who they are because this continued attack on EDIG's long term investors is a joke.
Not fooled here.
Wow ! what volume today. very nice !!!
Nice move with volume ! 1,412,600
they shouldn't !
Looks like we blew out some overhead resistence.
Must not be too many willing to let go of their shares down here.
wow, one IFE deal and Viasat is on the map.
according to owd, that's probably attributable to edig too.
Music Industry Down So Long It's Singin' the Blues
Thu Jun 19,11:29 AM ET
By Merissa Marr
LONDON (Reuters) - This year's top-selling album from bullet-ridden rapper 50 Cent could easily be the motto for the struggling music industry -- "Get Rich or Die Tryin."'
Despite scoring big time with the rap hit, the world's biggest music company Universal Music signaled this week that the industry is limping more visibly than many expected, putting added pressure on labels to cut costs and do deals to survive.
The industry gloom is bad timing for the music giant which is being considered for sale as part of an auction of parent Vivendi Universal's U.S. entertainment assets.
It also does not bode well for smaller companies such as Warner Music and BMG. Sources close Rto the companies said the two were pushing on with talks to merge their recorded music arms and Warner Music is also seeking to wrap up a deal to sell its CD/DVD manufacturing unit in the next month or two.
The industry has seen three years of decline, ravaged by a lack of hits, fans downloading music for free and an obsolete business model that relies on rolling the dice for mega hits.
Universal Music, also home to U2 and rapper Eminem (news - web sites), estimates industry sales sank 12 percent in the first quarter, dashing hopes for a less steep decline in sales this year.
Admittedly, the release of new albums was thin in the quarter -- normally a weak period after a busy Christmas, making it an unreliable indicator of the rest of the year.
All the same, it has not been a good start and Universal's figures suggest the industry could top the five percent decline in sales predicted by industry body the IFPI in April.
"I would think a fall of about eight percent this year was more likely. This is a market in historical decline and the decline could accelerate this year," said Phil Hardy from Music & Copyright which publishes market share data.
SPEEDY DECLINE
First-quarter figures from individual countries indicate the world's biggest market, the United States, declined just over eight percent, British sales slid 13 percent, Japan fell 12 percent and Germany is expected to have topped them all.
The big five -- Universal, Sony Music, EMI, Warner Music and BMG -- have been hit particularly hard and almost all of them have been slashing costs and exploring deals to survive.
Spooked into action, the smallest -- EMI, Warner and BMG -- have been in on-off talks, the most serious so far being a Warner/BMG combine, sources close to the companies say.
"The talks are on. Whether the two sides will be able to see eye to eye on valuation is another thing," said one source.
But sources say EMI has also held talks with Warner and BMG. While industry insiders say they expect some sort of deal this year, they say it's hard to predict who will pull it off.
"There clearly needs to be more mergers between these companies, primarily because it provides the opportunity to streamline their operations and focus on their spending on what matters most, which is music and the promotion of music," said Michael J. Wolf, managing partner of McKinsey's media practice.
In the meantime, jobs, acts and labels are being cut to limit losses. British-based EMI, home to the Rolling Stones and Norah Jones (news), managed a profit last year despite losing market share -- only after slashing thousands of jobs and acts.
"This year doesn't look like a cracking year and we are sure to see more attempts to cut costs," said one industry executive.
(additional reporting by Reshma Kapadia in New York)
Insider activity--like that very much.
maybe they are expecting the pps to move.
owds, did you not recognize that during the past 3 years there was an overall downturn in the economy as IT spending came to a halt ?
expectations for most companies were not realized. To blame fellow investors and the company is a tired game.
in light of a recovering stock market and improved market sentiment, AND EDIG's exciting new products, an attitude change is in order, as attitude has much to do with the pps.
owd, beaten to market is a weak argument because these markets are just now getting recognized.
just look, from the previous post, regarding the hdd market--the coolest but fetal due to its early stages.
the hdd market in time will replace the cd market. you've got to give markets time to recognize what e.digital investors have known for years, but that's why we are able to buy it so cheap right now.
edig is cutting edge and while not the early winner, certainly poised for growth down the road.
"• Hard drive. The coolest portable players, by a wide margin, have a hard drive for storing hundreds or even thousands of hours of music. The Apple iPod, Creative Labs Nomad Jukebox and other hard-drive players aren't top sellers, however, because they're delicate and expensive -- most models run from $300 to $500."
the VIDEO market will follow and e.Digital's IFE device is right there WITH CONTENT.
when you continue to be cutting edge, something's gotta give.
the Digi-e-player test market seems so cheap to enter when compared to the alternative that the airlines should fire anyone who balks at trying this entertainment delivery system.
and with kids and handhelds being a universal observation, it fits.
also, those kids may just be e.Digital's customers down the line.
advertising the Odyssey 1000 on the IFE device may not be a bad idea either-captive audience and free marketing.
and what about selling ad time on the device too ? i'm sure they have thought of that one.
totally agree. kids on airplanes torturing their parents for entertainment has to be a consistent revenue draw for the airlines.
anything to keep them quiet.
Newe, what about the exposure to passengers who will see the branded e.Digital name on the back of their device on every flight, hour after hour, day after day ? and maybe on the screen when they boot up !
this is extremely encouraging. this isn't just another hardware device but a content device. e.Digital was not only named as the maker but it looks like these deals are just about there.
Hot Topic: Portable VOD Player Promises To Shake Up Embedded IFE Systems!
Here it is, the worlds smallest, portable onboard Video-On-Demand system from APS and e.Digital, and is it going to cause a flap in the industry! This book size marvel from two companies most IFE insiders never heard of, will soon be making big news with regional airlines in the US and Europe. The development team of this hard drive-based product has a content deal agreement with Twentieth Century Fox and is in talks with other studios for more content the key to any successful VOD program. As we have said before, content is king with VOD systems and Early Window programming just may make the book-sized, APS product a homerun for the small Washington company.
Sporting a 7 hour L-ion battery, the unit promises a full flight day of usage and programming that includes 25 movies, a few sitcoms and a boatload of MP3s. The player ought to be an instant hit. Airline interest has been strong and we hear that one has already signed up for the program while talks progress with many others. And speaking of programs, airlines are offered 3 options that run from a revenue sharing plan to outright purchase. With a price tag of 1/10 embedded hardware products, the single-aisle, point-to-point market is growing and ripe for a new IFE paradigm shift. This may be the new wave in IFE. In our interview with APSs affable prez Bill Boyer, he told IFExpress that they will be offering a turn key program that includes repair, refurb and battery management.
We were interested in the content security aspects of the device and Mr. Boyer noted that the unit, if stolen, has been designed to be content-tamper-proof and uses a proprietary battery and power connection design. Steve Ferguson, VP at e.Digital (the maker) told us that a stray unit will only provide entertainment till the battery runs out access to the content is protected physically and heavily coded. Insiders tell us that some pretty big IFE players are sniffing around the Digi-e-player and our readers might expect to see some deals with big IFE houses as well. Stay tuned!
EDIG's products continue to break new ground. getting very real around here.
love it !!!
couldn't agree more. Apple is a "marquis" name and educating the consumer regarding HDD players and making the HDD player the "device" to own.
flash based players have to continually have music added and removed while these 20 giggers can handle just about your entire library of music.
continued consumer education, improvement with the technology and size issues, and price drops as storage prices drop will continue to open this market.
edig has a real competitive design, in fact, better in many respects to the ipod. with marketing efforts about to appear this company could be a real sleeper.
"Since Apple is usually reluctant to release vital stats about any of its operations, it's difficult to quantify the project's success since it was introduced April 28"
_____________________________________________________
Some here knock EDIG for keeping its vital stats under covers, yet it appears that this is not unusual.
"the iTunes store is available only to Mac owners running OSX (this may disappoint Windows users as much as it delights Apple fanatics). With a catalog that's limited - no Beatles, Rolling Stones or Grateful Dead - iTunes store, for all its goodness, still is subject to music industry muddles."

This market is wide open and growing.
man, EDIG operates in some rather impressive budding markets.
come on webcast, bring on some good news !
DIVX & msft ? E.DIGITAL CORPORATION AND DIVXNETWORKS FORM STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP TO DESIGN AND DEVELOP DIVX VIDEO DEVICES
Agreement will Enable Consumer Electronics Devices to Integrate and Playback Wildly Popular DivX Video for the First Time
(SAN DIEGO, CA - April 9, 2002) - e.Digital Corporation (OTC: EDIG), a global provider of comprehensive digital product development and designs, and DivXNetworks, Inc., the company that created the revolutionary patent-pending DivXTM MPEG-4 compatible video compression technology, today announced a strategic partnership to jointly develop and market a range of consumer electronics devices that play back DivXTM video.
The agreement will enable the creation of a number of DivX Certified hardware devices, including handheld DivX video players, DivX-enabled DVD players, home video jukeboxes, Digital Video Recorders, digital set-top boxes, digital video cameras, and more. Additionally, the two companies will work together to integrate digital rights management (DRM) technology into the devices to ensure secure playback of high-quality digital video. DivXTM is a leading MPEG-4 compatible video compression technology, with over 50 million users worldwide.
"This partnership is a key step in our hardware strategy to integrate DivX technology across a range of next-generation convergence devices," said Jordan Greenhall, CEO and co-founder of DivXNetworks. "Our enthusiastic user base has been clamoring for hardware solutions that leverage the power of DivX video, and by working closely with e.Digital we will be able to meet that demand for the first time. e.Digital’s demonstrated capabilities in product development, manufacturing and supply chain management, life cycle support and growing retail presence provides us with an opportunity to bring state-of-the-art technologies to market in a series of absolutely cutting-edge products.
Greenhall continued, "DivX has already established itself as the most popular and efficient video technology for IP networks, and the first line of high-quality, secure consumer electronics devices specifically optimized for DivX video will extend the DivX experience beyond the PC, ultimately benefiting consumers and content providers alike. We feel that e.Digital’s applications integration capabilities provide an excellent complement to our advanced video concepts. Their experience with digital rights management and secure content applications will provide a real strength in developing the DivX video standard."
"We are very excited to work together with DivXNetworks to design and develop a line of DivX Certified CE devices that provide consumers with the quality and convenience of DVD-quality digital video while offering state-of-the-art digital rights management technology for content providers," said Steve Ferguson, Vice President of Business Development for e.Digital. "There is a clear market demand for hardware devices that allow consumers to easily store and playback high-quality digital video, from portable video players and home entertainment/networking centers to portable video players to next-generation DVRs and automotive telematics products. To meet demand we will develop not only e.Digital-branded products but also designs that will be available to OEM and/or ODM customers."
Jim Collier, President and COO of e.Digital added, "I don’t think that it’s possible to overestimate the importance of DivX video technology and the global influence it will have on entertainment media. It holds the promise to be to video what MP3 compression technology has been to audio, but on a much wider and far reaching scale. Its potential to become a streaming video standard, and its applications for use in portable video products, home network entertainment and storage systems, as well as automotive telematics applications make it one of the golden technologies of the decade. The synergy between our two companies is incredible and the potential for cross platform technology convergence is enormous. We are excited about this long-term relationship and the many opportunities that it provides."
e.Digital and DivXNetworks will jointly develop and market the hardware devices, with the first product expected to be available by the end of the year. e.Digital has created a complete line of portable audio devices, and DivX video compression technology has become the de facto standard for high-quality IP video, with over 50 million downloads and an average of over 2 million downloads per month. The proprietary DivX Digital Rights Management (DRM) solution provides authentication, authorization, encryption, fingerprinting, multiple watermarking techniques and business rule management to ensure the protected delivery of IP video.
COOL, another O-1000 review.
It would be interesting to see how traffic to the website is effected by these O-1000 vs ipod reviews.
I'm sure Apple is aware of EDIG, and probably a portion of the bashers are Apple driven. (not to mention a handful of other competitors who never seem to get that ipod comparison mention.)
