justinsjewels
why would you think that?
ELN very solid. Even on recent dip & fought right back & then moved higher.
Shorting ELN imo for your target is a good way to lose a great deal of money

"MAGS..pure play on the Russian airliners..MAGS got a contract last week to protect easter european airports."
"Traces of explosives were found in the wreckage of one of two airliners that crashed nearly simultaneously earlier this week, the Russian Federal Security Service said Friday."
got word today that the owner of the toy/gift company I used to work with commited suicide. Went from being a millionaire to on the steps of bankruptcy in the span of the last 9 months due to some terrible business decisions. There was a lot more to this, too much detail to go into here, and the underpinnings of this downfall were way longer than 9 months. He leaves 3 children, 3 ex wives, and from all I knew, some very great friendships.
This person & I are 2 weeks apart in age, so it particularly hit home. Posting this here because it has made me think so much today about life in general and the steps we take. I can't speak for the person who took his life, of course.
All of us at one time or another in our lives may have felt on the brink like that.
It seems it really comes down to "is it that bad that nothing is worth living for still." Loss of business, loss of moneys, loss of family, there must still be reasons not to go that final step.
Also, the petty things in life. It makes one stop to think how much of a waste of time they are. Sure, emotions get in the way & create more problems. But things like small arguments with a wife or husband, the minor things that all parents face with children or even something internet posters are familar with: the bash posting wars that we have had on the net,,,it is just not worth it.
Live life, don't just exist. And don't let life's problems, even the major ones, defeat us to the point that it defeated this man.
BCSI terrific short,,nice call jjkool,,add to it when there is a perfect go-against who is long & it was a double whammy short play
briellepat re: CLHB- some interesting long & short movement on it, but except for yesterday's high volumn, CLHB has been very much below 100k avg daily. Volumn is so low that I would be concerned about getting out where I wanted. Thanks for the suggestion. Not to my tastes.
justinsjewels..could give you a history to that idea that would be mind boggeling.
Spekoset, long out of OVTI in late July. Was going to scalp in & out of it but moved onto other things.

NICE!
jjkool_01- no problems at all, never thought any disrespect of any nature.
I enjoy your work on those lists. You got a great one with SNPS.
Will look to see more ideas from you.
jjkool_01- from your list I still show many left
the one I', most in agreement with at this time is for TSA next week. You still like that one?
jjkool_01 re: the short list
watching these to see how they ended up from the price at the post or even from a day or 2 before the earnings call
noticed you did decide to go with short MANT so that was added to the list
MANT real bad with about -18% at this time
CGFW- bad with about -9% at this time
SNPS- real good with about +23% at this time (& could go lower tomorrow)
so no disasters here if the 3 had been all played equally- fairly close with -4% total so far
How are you feeling about the rest of the list at this time.

jjkool_01- so interested in your post as I do this as well. Have lined up many stocks to short into October earnings.

took BCSI profits @ 11.60..nice quick 6%.. calls for alot higher within a few days seem a might outragious. would be great for a trade and good luck to those holding for it, but imo that is not close to going to happen. History of BCSI shows it recovers, but no where near the 20% calls being made. Add to that such a weak market and again, imo, be real happy with a quick 6%.
as posted in irc chat, BCSI nice bounce back after Major_Dropper day.

great feature in this is that if you have many bookmarks within a folder, they can all come up as tabs at the top of your browser window. An example would be having a folder in your Favorites called Stock News. In this folder are all the pages you visit to see current stock or business news. When going to this folder, instead of clicking a specific bookmark, you click the bottom line, which reads "Open In Tabs". Then the first alphabetical bookmark in that folder opens, with all other bookmarks in the folder tabbed at the top. Instantly click between all the pages in that folder by clicking the tabs. There is an automatic pop-up killer in here as well and many other features & add-ons.

have posted on compounding often over the years.
Through compounding real wealth can be achieved. The idea of targeting a SMALL, conservative & often more easily achieved percentage gain daily on Major_Poppers, Major_Droppers, or more specifically on any style of trading you do, adds up if there is strict adherance to the concept of compounding your profits. (sure there will be losses, no one is claiming there won't be).
This post has NOTHING to do with the systems I have.
"If you can save $100 per year (that is only $2 per week) and put it into an account earning 10% per year and leave it alone for 25 years.
You have saved $2,500 in direct savings which has earned interest. The 10% Interest is not just 10% on the total savings but you earn 10% Interest per Year on the original deposit PLUS the Interest.
If you only earned Interest on the annual deposit, you would have $2,750 after 25 years but with Compound Interest you will have $10,818.18. This is a profit of $8,318.18 or an average of $332.73 per year for the 25 years.
This is over 300% Return on YOUR Investment of $100 per Year.
This is how the Banks make money from the Credit Cards, Loans, Mortgages, Overdraft and Business Loans. Can you think of any good reason why you shouldn't use this Magic for yourself?
Imagine what would happen if you saved $1,000 per year. Or what about $100 per week ($5,200 per year). Yes, it is roughly $10,818.18 times 10, 52 or any other multiple of $100. When you consider that every year you delay getting started is costing you in lost opportunity, and hard cash in later years, what is stopping you?
Imagine now what will happen when you generate other sources of income and can divert it into your investments. Imagine what will happen when you find investments which deliver 25% to 500% and more (yes they do exist). Do you now understand how you can become Wealthy on your income? Do you think that it is worth your time to restructure your personal finances so that you free up some cash for saving/investment purposes?
Using the Magic of Compounding, you can calculate the time it will take for your investment to double is size. It is called the Rule of 72. If you divide 72 by the percentage return the result is the number of years to doubling. Assuming a 10% return the answer would be 72 / 10 = 7.2 years. Assuming 50% return the answer would be 72 / 50 = 1.4 years. The Rule of 115 allows you to calculate how long it will take to Triple your investment. Assuming a 10% return the number of years required to triple your investment would be 115 / 10 = 11.5 Years. Assuming a 50% return the time taken to triple your investment would be 115 / 50 = 2.3 Years."
Now, apply these ideas to stock trading. Can you find a stock that makes 2% a day? How about 1 1/2% a day. Or 1% a day...or even 1% every 3 days. Through trackings I have found many stocks that achieve this. They are not difficult to find.
Most folks would scoff at the idea of trading to make 1% every 3 days. And true, there are trades that can & do make 10% in a day & in an hour. And those very same trades can lose 10% in day or an hour.
So just consider the idea of 2%, 1 1/2% or even just 1% a day, or 1% in 3 days, but letting the profits compound. The amount you could be looking at in a year or 2 will astound you.

Day Trading: It's Not Always A Fool's Game
Friday August 6, 3:57 pm ET
Ken Jennings is good -- extremely good. With 38 straight victories this summer on TV's venerable trivia game, Jeopardy!, the software engineer rolled up a record $1,321,660 in winnings. In his latest contest, he scored $75,000, smashing the old one-day record of $52,000. No doubt, Jennings is a superior Jeopardy! player.

He has mixed smarts, nerve, disciplined study, years of practice, a knack for figuring odds on the fly, and fleet brain-to-thumb reflexes. Yet how many of us would credit his talent and skill if Jennings had done as well by trading stocks 38 days in a row? Conventional wisdom has concluded that day trading is a short-cut to financial ruin. The stock market's ruthless efficiency inevitably makes every trader a loser, or so we're often told. Day trading is about the last thing I would do, yet this orthodoxy makes no sense to me. Yes, trading is tough work. But why must it be a fool's game? Why, when so many Wall Street firms trade profitably year after year?
NOW, THERE'S FRESH EVIDENCE that day trading successfully is not beyond individuals willing and able to commit the time, sweat, and brainpower to build superior skills. Those who dabble will likely lose -- very badly. Do Individual Day Traders Make Money? Evidence from Taiwan, is a working paper issued in May by Yi-Tsung Lee and Yu-Jane Liu of National Chengchi University in Taipei, and Brad Barber and Terrance Odean of the University of California (at Davis and Berkeley, respectively). Noted veterans of behavioral finance, the UC economists have long tracked the moves of individual investors. Lee and Liu, having done research for the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE), struck a gold mine of data -- the full exchange trading record from 1995 to 1999, including each trader's identity. The four academics got together, since no similar trove has been available in the U.S. and day trading is popular in Taiwan. As a pioneering study, the results are merely suggestive. But if you think, as Liu does, that Taiwan's day traders act much like those elsewhere, the findings are intriguing. "Day trading is really hard. Most people lose their shirts," Barber says. "But there's a small population that makes a ton of money."
The researchers began by counting some 925,000 individual investors on the exchange in a typical month. They then identified the heaviest traders, a group that was just 1% of the total but accounted for more than half of all individuals' day-trading volume. They bought and sold stocks at a profit most days, but after transaction costs lost money. As for dabblers, the less they traded the more often they lost.
In a second cut of the data, the researchers checked to see if past winners kept winning. They ranked all traders by their success over the prior six months and then split them into six groups. The top-performing group went on to see average daily gains of $251, even after costs. At annual rates, that comes to more than five times the annual per capita income in Taiwan. The second-best group also netted gains, but just $48 a day, while the third group lost money, the fourth did worse yet, and so on.
The odds -- 82% of traders lose -- are so grim that Barber encourages no one to day trade. Yet it seems not everyone who does is a fool. Left for future researchers is what strategies -- trading just a stock two, say -- are winners. Meantime, we can form our own notions about what works. Here's one you might see on Jeopardy! Category: Wall Street Animals. Answer: Neither bull nor bear, they're quick as cats and work like dogs to become wise as owls. Question: Who are successful day traders?

I agree with you that both candidates are hard after the undecided. I don't agree that there are few undecided & I dont agree that the reason Kerry didn't get the points bump was due to your premise.
Kerry did not get a bump becaus ehe does not incite people with any fervor to vote for him. It is not his election to win, it is Bush's election to lose. If he can ignite the Republican convention & come out with any sort of bump, he will win. If economic worries escalate or if there are other negatives to compound the weaker looking economy, he will lose.
