Comer, after criminal referrals, pledges to go after Biden: ‘This is just the beginning’
by Sarah Fortinsky - 06/09/24 6:59 PM ET
House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) said Sunday the criminal referrals against President Biden’s son and brother are “just the beginning,” as he pledged to focus on the president himself in the next stage of his impeachment inquiry.
“Remember, this is an investigation of Joe Biden,” Comer said in an interview on Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo. “Hunter Biden, Jim Biden, Eric Schwerin, Devon Archer — these are all witnesses in an investigation of Joe Biden. This was always about Joe Biden.”
“Now, we’re going to do everything we can to hold Hunter Biden and all the different shady associates accountable. This is just the beginning,” he continued. “But the next step will be accountability for Joe Biden.”
The interview comes after GOP leaders of the impeachment investigation into Biden asked the Justice Department this past Wednesday to bring criminal charges against the president’s son, Hunter, and his brother, James, accusing the duo of lying to lawmakers during conversations with investigators.
The criminal referrals escalate the stakes of the impeachment inquiry, which has grown quiet in recent months as the investigation has failed to produce evidence of any criminal wrongdoing against Biden and as support for the inquiry appears to have died down.
But in the Sunday interview, Comer suggested he has no intention of ending his inquiry, accusing Biden of committing “many crimes” and teasing a soon-to-be-released report updating the public on Biden’s alleged crimes.
“And I think everyone that’s kept up with this investigation will be very eager to see what the next step is,” Comer said.
Comer also suggested that if Attorney General Merrick Garland does not take up the criminal referrals against the president’s relatives, then former President Trump, who is challenging Biden for a second term in the White House, could appoint an attorney general who would investigate the charges.
“This is the first step, these criminal referrals,” Comer said. “Everything that we refer to the Department of Justice is within the statute of limitations. In fact, there’s five-year statute of limitations. So, if Merrick Garland’s Department of Justice doesn’t take this up in an appropriate manner, then the next administration and a new attorney general certainly can.”
The Hill has reached out to the White House for a response.

Kids Arrested For Driving Scooters Over Pride Flag Wishing They Had Burned American Flag Instead
SPOKANE, WA — The three teenagers who were arrested for riding scooters on a Pride flag painted on the road were kicking themselves for not simply lighting the American flag on fire and threatening violence instead.
"I guess we picked the wrong flag," said one of the teens, whose name has been withheld for anonymity. "I had no idea the Pride flag was so much more sacred than the American flag."
According to sources, the teenagers were surprised to learn they could deface statues, light smoke bombs outside the White House, hold up a bloody mask of the President, threaten mass murder, and light the American flag on fire without any consequences whatsoever. "That's completely insane," said one of the teens. "All we did was ride our scooters in circles a couple of times. I know I'm just sixteen, but that seems a little less bad than all that other stuff."
At publishing time, the teens were informed that they would be released without charges so long as they would say their scooter circles were to protest the rescue of the Israeli hostages.

Gaza Health Ministry Confirms 8 Billion Dead In Israeli Hostage Rescue
GAZA — The Gaza Health Ministry announced that Israeli soldiers killed eight billion innocent women, children and puppies today during the rescue operation where four hostages were freed.
"With the battle having ended twelve seconds ago, we can now confirm that exactly eight billion people are dead," said Gaza Health Ministry spokesman Ismail al-Thawabta. "They were all of course civilians, we've never seen such carnage, the hospital is overwhelmed, et cetera, you guys know the drill."
According to sources inside Gaza, the hostages were doing great and enjoying a nice game of Parcheesi when the mean ol' Israeli Defense Forces showed up and started dropping thermonuclear weapons on daycares. "Hamas, of course, offered to kindly hand back the hostages and be friends, but the Israelis just kept senselessly shooting children and puppies," said al-Thawabta. "Then they bombed a school, a mosque, a nursery, an animal shelter, and a playground. We will now cut to some footage of women weeping over invisible corpses."
The Health Ministry states that the attack has once again left Gaza on the brink of collapse. "We can confirm that for the 173rd day in a row, Gaza only has 24 hours of fuel left before the power goes out and another billion children die," said Hamas spokesman Mohammed al-Insa. "We are also starving and demand sushi instead of the crap Israel has been sending us. Dynamite roll, please, if it's not too much trouble."
At publishing time, the Gaza Health Ministry had announced that a terrorist tunnel destroyed by the IDF was actually housing another billion children who were all now dead.

Ilhan Omar Calls For Day Of Mourning Over Hostages Rescued
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Representative Ilhan Omar has called for a National Day of Mourning in light of the news that four Israeli hostages were rescued this morning.
"I am deeply grieved by the tragic rescue of four of our hostages this morning," said Omar, fighting back tears. "They were taken from us far too soon, after only 245 days in captivity. I am hereby calling for a National Day of Mourning over their safe return to Israel."
According to sources, Omar broke out into sobs upon learning the devastating news of the hostages' rescue. "If only Israel had listened to Biden, none of this would have happened," said Omar. "It pains me to see their smiling faces as they reunite with friends and family. The only silver lining is that none of the American hostages were rescued, praise Allah."
As a sign of mourning, Omar will fly the Palestinian flag outside of her office at half-staff. Aides report that Omar will meet up with fellow representatives Rashida Tlaib, Cori Bush, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to support each other during this difficult time. The group plans to go down to the Holocaust Museum for a little pick-me-up, and then go out for ice cream.
At publishing time, Omar had been seen weeping outside Senator Fetterman's door as his team celebrated taking down the posters of the four rescued hostages.

Politico reports on the Biden family syndicate, and it’s crickets all around
By M. Walter
Did you know that Politico committed an act of journalism yesterday, reporting honestly on the Biden family syndicate? This was such a rare act that you’d think its reporting would stand out, especially given that it’s read by absolutely everyone in the Acela corridor. You’d think CNN would be 24/7 with Brady Bunch-style pundits pundit-ing on the story because it’s an incredibly damning bill of horribles for the sitting president.
But nooooooo… Everyone on that progressive train is undoubtedly aware of it, but they ain’t talkin’ ‘bout it. Nope. No way. No how. It ain’t good for the regime. It ain’t good for the narrative. It ain’t good for A-list cocktail party invites.
So let’s talk about it.
The Politico essay starts with a damning title: “Biden insists he’s not involved in his family’s business dealings. But his aides are a different story.” The subtitle is no better: “The overlapping roles are under scrutiny as the president distances himself from his family’s dealings.”
This kind of title cries out for a “flip it around” alternative treatment. Imagine if this entire article were about the Trump family and not the Biden family, and you’d have an all-out conflagration of a D.C. scandal on your hands.
Here are the opening paragraphs as Politico wrote them:
For years, Joe Biden shared a bookkeeper with his son, Hunter. He also shared a personal lawyer with his brother, Jim. And when Jim Biden wanted to know more about one of Hunter Biden’s associates, he hired the former head of Joe Biden’s Secret Service detail to investigate.
Since 2019, Joe Biden has repeatedly distanced himself from his family’s business dealings, saying that he has never so much as discussed them with his relatives or with anyone else. But House impeachment inquiry interviews, public records and emails reviewed by POLITICO show that members of his inner circle were regularly enmeshed in those dealings: Many of the president’s closest staffers and advisers have doubled as his relatives’ business associates, both during and after their stints working for the man at the center of the Biden family orbit.
Those overlaps reflect an all-in-the family approach to business and politicking that dates back a half-century...
And here’s that reimaging, with Trump’s name in place of Biden’s:
For years, Donald Trump shared a bookkeeper with his son, Don, Jr. He also shared a personal lawyer with his sister, Maryanne. And when Maryanne wanted to know more about one of Don Jr.’s associates, he hired the former head of Donald Trump’s Secret Service detail to investigate.
Since 2019, Donald Trump has repeatedly distanced himself from his family’s business dealings, saying that he has never so much as discussed them with his relatives or with anyone else. But House impeachment inquiry interviews, public records and emails reviewed by POLITICO show that members of his inner circle were regularly enmeshed in those dealings: Many of the president’s closest staffers and advisers have doubled as his relatives’ business associates, both during and after their stints working for the man at the center of the Trump family orbit.
Those overlaps reflect an all-in-the family approach to business and politicking that dates back a half-century...
It’s important to note that Donald Trump has never been accused of using his government position to enrich his children or siblings.
Imagine, just imagine, pencil-neck Schiff, his bulbous eyes in his bulbous head bloodshot and bursting with rage, clutching a printout of the article, with a crowd of rage-filled House Democrats behind him, were the exact same things said not about Biden, but about Trump. We’d have to have ambulances standing by. Half the conference might stroke out.
And while it’s fun to imagine the Democrats’ absolute unhinged meltdown were this a bill of Trump horribles, it can’t pass without mentioning that Republicans are being equally silent about this actual bill of Biden horribles.
Where are they?
I don’t have cable, so maybe I missed it, but I don’t miss much, and I haven’t seen a single hit with a single Republican anywhere clutching this article demanding action. I don’t even need one with eyes bulging or an elevated heart rate, but just a squeak would be nice. But nope. No squeaks. Not a single Republican mouse in the House has made a stir.
And I don’t expect we’ll see one because, as Sundance at The Last Refuge has so aptly entitled them, those 535 Hill denizens aren’t working against each other, they are the UniParty working against… us.
So, we write alternative imaginary bills of horribles and hope we can vote our way out of this, because the alternative remedy? Nobody wants to imagine the alternative remedy. So we pray. We write. We donate. We talk. We volunteer. We vote.
We hope justice will come in November.

Biden’s and Democrats’ policies encourage hostage-taking
By Dov Perel
In Joe Biden’s proposed agreement to end The Israeli Military Offensive (and Defensive) actions, he puts releasing the hostages as the third stage in his preferred sequences of events. For Biden, now and before October 7, 2023, releasing the hostages has been a very low priority. Evidently, terrorist activities are rewarded, not punished.
When the world was stable (before Joe Biden), Western nations, including America, understood that negotiating with terrorists was not an option. The reason for this rule of thumb is that negotiating with terrorists about their terroristic behavior would reward this type of immoral behavior. This type of reward would lead to more terroristic behavior (it works, so why not?). It’s worth noting that there are American hostages in Gaza.
The United Nations and the United States of America have chosen not to set a high priority of rescuing the hostages. This is just another action that screams, “You are Jews, and your right to live and defend yourselves is not the same as it is for the rest of the world’s population.” (Remember the “Bring Back Our Girls” campaign?) Their actions and lack of actions speak louder than the anti-Israel / Anti-Jewish rhetoric being spewed across the West.
This is not the first time the Far Left / Democrat / Progressive Agenda, which includes refusing to act against hostage takers, has led the world to instability and dysfunctionality.
During the Jimmy Carter administration, Iran seized more than 60 American hostages from the US Embassy, in addition to over a dozen other hostages. President Carter, the Democrats, and sundry other leftists established a policy of diplomacy and restraint. The result was that hostages were held for 444 days in inhumane conditions. The Carter Presidency ended with President Carter losing his reelection bid. He left office in shame.
It wasn’t until Reagan’s inauguration that Iran released the hostages. They did so in large part because they feared the new Republican, conservative administration would launch a military offensive.
In September 2023 (two months before the October 7th attack on Israel), the Biden Administration made a very low-profile $16 billion contribution to Iran by unfreezing funds. The deal was in part to release hostages already in Iran. The Biden administration assured all and sundry that the money did not go to fund Iran’s war machine. Despite Iran’s admitted role in the October 7 attack, the Biden administration has not penalized Iran.
The world’s nations, including America, have blood on their hands because of their liberal stance on terrorism against Israel. Fortunately, as Israel’s recent daring risk of four hostages reveals, Israel is not similarly constrained.
If the West, including America, supported Israel’s focus on recovering hostages without concessions, this war would be over, and the hostages would be home—just as happened when Jimmy Carter lost re-election. Ronald Reagan won office because of the threat of military action unless the hostages in Iran were released.

Book Review: Jack Cashill explains how politicians destroyed American cities
By John Dale Dunn
Jack Cashill is one of the first Baby Boomers. Born in 1947, the son of an Irish cop, he grew up in a largely Catholic Newark, New Jersey, neighborhood. It’s hard to believe in retrospect, but Cashill’s childhood in the 1950s and early 1960s was idyllic, typical of urban life in a city that was, in those days, a vibrant and prosperous business center not far from Manhattan.
Cashill loved Newark enough to write a book about its demise in Untenable: The True Story of White Ethnic Flight from America’s Cities, which memorably describes urban decay and decline as seen through the eyes of a person who lived it. Although Cashill focuses on Newark, his story could have been told about scores of established big cities across America.
Cashill’s father was a Newark policeman and WWII vet who bought a fixer-upper for $4,000 on the GI bill. The Newark of Cashill’s childhood years was a good place to raise a family. You can see in his book his affection for Newark and frustration with what happened to his hometown. His story is painful to read, and I am sure was painful for him to recall and tell.
As Cashill tells it, what destroyed the thriving Newark of the 1950s were political decisions by people indifferent to the neighborhoods they were destroying. The growth of dysfunctional welfare families, most without a man in the house, resulted in a change that rocked the city. Rising crime rates made it so dangerous that responsible citizens reluctantly pulled up stakes and moved to towns that promised better schools and safer streets.
In short, living in Newark became “untenable.” Cashill was a witness to the changes. As a master storyteller, he makes this tragedy come alive through interviews with former residents and deep dives into the documentary record. Armed with data, he explains why working-class Newark residents had no option but to leave their community.
He lets old friends and neighbors tell their stories in their own words and never gets in the way. In the process, he destroys the bogus story that racism caused white flight, a favorite race-hustler meme that Cashill exposes in the book. Cashill knows the race hustlers and grievance peddlers well and contrasts their claims with the realities, vividly exposing the hoax.
Cashill’s research proves that white people left, not because of racism, but because of crime and violence, the great majority of which, unfortunately, blacks committed. Daniel Patrick Moynihan warned about the dissolution of the civil black family and traced that dissolution to the welfare programs intended to support fatherless children and their mothers. The devolution of Newark from a prosperous working-class city to a Third World hell took less than 20 years.
This book has many merits. It relies on strong evidence and compelling stories. Cashill’s affection for Newark and the people of Newark shines brightly. He tells the story well, but he does more. He provides commentary rooted in his sociological and political scholarship. Cashill is not just a good people person and storyteller—he has a powerful intellect that puts things together and makes connections that will make you smarter about America and the dynamics of this time and place.
Of his book, Cashill says, “Everyone with whom I spoke knew exactly why they left. It’s just that no one bothered to ask them.”
The book resonated strongly with me because, as an emergency room physician and a general practitioner, I have spent much of my life caring for minority patients. I’ve never regretted this work because medicine is an opportunity to make people well and relieve suffering. I never thought I should seek out a job that would allow me to avoid some color or ethnic group. I like seeing people of different backgrounds and origins, for they’re fun to talk to. The rewards of practicing medicine have nothing to do with race, color or ethnicity.
Jack Cashill takes the same approach to his people studies. He doesn’t categorize, generalize, or miss the fact that every human is a precious unit of humanity. His book displays Cashill’s love of people and his insights into what people do and why.
That makes him a great teacher.

IDF says rescued hostages were held at the home of a Gaza journo who wrote for Al Jazeera
By Monica Showalter
A gander at Al Jazeera's website reveals a strong bias for the 'Israel-bad, Palestinians-victims' party line so dear to Hamas.
But mere bias may be the least of this Qatari-financed news agency's issues.
The Israeli Defense Forces says that one of its contributors, Abdallah Aljamal, was actually holding three of the hostages rescued on Saturday by Israeli commandos inside his Gaza home as a trusted Hamas operative. His father, a doctor, was holding the other one, Noa Argamani, the female hostage who was rescued with the other three.
According to the New York Post:
A Gaza journalist who wrote for Al Jazeera was holding three hostages in his home with his family before he was killed by Israeli commandos during a rescue operation on Saturday, according to the Israeli military.
Abdallah Aljamal, who also worked as a spokesman for the Hamas-run labor ministry, was killed when special forces soldiers stormed his home in central Gaza and rescued hostages Almog Meir Jan, 21, Andri Kozlov, 27, and Shlomi Ziv, 41, the Israeli military said.
Aljamal’s death was originally reported by Rami Abdu, the head of the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, who claimed Israel Defense Forces soldiers raided the journalist’s home and killed him and several members of his family.
There also was this:

Al Jazeera has denied even knowing the guy, while at the same time, saying he wouldn't dream of engaging in terrorist activities, but that doesn't make much sense -- if they didn't know him or he was some distant memory to them, how would they know if he was a terrorist or not?

— Al Jazeera PR (@AlJazeera) June 9, 2024
Some of his columns, and his author's page, have been perfectly visible to the public until they were taken down. The IDF ran a screen shot of his Al Jazeera author's page:
“Journalist” Abdallah Aljamal was a Hamas terrorist holding Almog, Andrey and Shlomi hostage in his family’s home in Nuseirat.

He also liked dressing his kid up as a terrorist and flashing him around on the Internet:

He was probably just an occasional contributor and not a full time staffer for Al Jazeera. Where he got his real money from was -- a U.S.-based NGO:
The man who was housing THREE Israeli hostages in his family home for eight months (Abdallah Aljamal) wrote for The Palestine Chronicle, a U.S.-based 501(c)(3). Who's behind this outfit? You won't be shocked to learn that Noam Chomsky is on the board of directors pic.twitter.com/EKhqyCxZDf

He'd write stuff like this, with the top guy at that NGO's newspaper, the Palestine Chronicle, the pair sharing a byline at Al Jazeera:
Hey Al Jazeera
Hearing you are denying Abdallah Aljamal - the terrorist / journalist holding the Israeli hostages captive was one of yours.

— David Collier (@mishtal) June 9, 2024
In his last piece, an opinion column for the Palestine Chronicle, he showed us all what a sentimental guy he was, decrying all the memories lost with Israel's bombing of some apartment building in Gaza, while his own hostages were ensconced at his residence against their will.
“Homes are gone, and with that, the memories, hopes and aspirations of Palestinians and their ability to realize other rights,” the statement continued.

— The Palestine Chronicle (@PalestineChron) April 24, 2024
What this shows is that NGOs and media organizations such as Al Jazeera have a lot to answer for in the enabling of terrorists.
When Israel shut down Al Jazeera's office in Israel last April, the hullaballoo was deafening, with claims that Israel hated freedom of the press. Actually, they knew stuff, a lot more than they were letting on, about the objectivity of these bounders claiming to be the free press, along with the NGOs.
Now the truth is out. Next time someone starts yelling about freedom of the press, bring up the matter of Abdallah Aljamal, the hostage holder for Hamas.

Civil War if Trump Goes to Prison?
By John Kudla
I find it difficult to believe that we are still discussing the possibility of a second American Civil War. However, the trial and conviction of Donald Trump in a Russian — excuse me, New York court on dubious charges has once again prompted discussion of civil unrest that could lead to civil war.
During a recent interview with Maria Bartiromo of Fox Business regarding the Trump verdict, Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky said, “I worry about strife. I worry about war in the streets.” He is not alone.
Last Friday, during a discussion of Trump possibly being sentenced to prison, comedian Bill Maher had this to say: “MAGA Nation will go nuts. If they put him [Trump] in jail, I know it will happen because the judge’s name is Juan. Everything becomes racial in this country.”
Of course, no prejudices there. That remark might have been a joke, but it sounded as if Maher believes that all you dirty Make America Great Again types hate Hispanics. Yes, it seems everything in this country has become racial. Who do you suppose is responsible for that, Bill?
New York political consultant and Democrat power player David Axelrod had this to say in response to Maher: “Yeah, but one of the things about this apocalyptic language that you hear from all of these, the amen chorus, is they really are inviting violence. And that’s a big concern of mine.”
I assume that this is a contemptuous reference to Christians who believe in preparing for the end times, as discussed in the Book of Revelation. I should point out this is not the majority view among Christians. If you are a Christian and are advocating for domestic violence beyond self-defense, perhaps you should pray to Jesus and ask for clarification.
Later, Maher the Prophet said, “A civil war in this country, I’m sorry to say, becomes a race war. That’s the sad truth about this country.”
Really? I wonder where his terrible vision of the future came from! In March, CNN published a story about a potential civil war based on the idea of accelerationism, saying:
Accelerationism is embraced by a spectrum of white supremacists, white nationalists, racists, antisemites, xenophobes, and anti-government militants as a clarion call to revolution. They fervently believe that the modern Western, liberal state is so corrupt and inept that it is beyond redemption and must be destroyed in order to create a new society and way of governance.
Folks, I am a voracious reader of political news. However, I had never heard of accelerationism until I began researching this article. Accelerationism was originally a Marxist idea. In short, it is a way for leftists to fight capitalism by producing radical social change.
Supposedly, the right-wing version of accelerationism was created by English philosopher Nick Land in an article he wrote called “A Quick and Dirty Introduction to Accelerationism.” I found it to be several pages of primarily neo-liberal gobbledygook embedded in word salads that would make Kamala Harris proud. How that is considered right-wing is a mystery.
So how did the far right absorb left-wing social and economic theory? The truth is, it didn’t. Right-wing accelerationism doesn’t have much to do with capitalism. The key similarity is to upend society and accelerate social change.
An easier-to-understand definition of accelerationism comes from the Council on Foreign Relations: “The objective of [right-wing] accelerationism is to foment divisiveness and polarization that will induce the collapse of the existing order and spark a second civil war.”
At least we discovered where the civil war idea came from. But it gets worse.
According to the Combatting Terrorism Center at West Point, the January 6 insurrection was accelerationism in action. Accelerationism here is “the goal of hastening the cataclysmic end of economic, political, and social systems so as to more rapidly bring about what is seen as an inevitable end-times collapse.”
If the Terrorism Center believes that January 6 was about the end times or accelerationism, then domestic terrorism must be a significant threat. But what does this have to do with Trump?
The left has to have a playbook with a narrative to work from and stay in sync. If you believe that the January 6 riot was a domestic terrorist event to destabilize the government and Donald Trump was the mastermind, then it is much easier for security agencies to play along with the Biden administration. Witness the FBI entering Mar-a-Lago with guns drawn.
Of course, the left always accuses Republicans of doing whatever leftists are up to.
If you want to see real accelerationism in action, all you have to do is look at our southern border. Joe Biden and the liberal Democrats are paying for mass illegal immigration with taxpayer money. They want to use the illegal alien surge to add congressional districts in blue states. They want to make the illegals citizens and allow them to vote. The idea is to create a perpetual one-party left-wing national government. This is large-scale social change in a short time frame.
Now let’s get back to the civil/race war that Maher thinks is coming. My first question is, how many people are members of armed far-right paramilitary organizations?
The numbers are difficult to pin down. An article in The Guardian suggests that one such organization, American Patriots Three Percent, has a membership in the low thousands. One of the larger paramilitary groups, the Oath Keepers, is thought to have around 5,000 members. No, I am not going to include the conspiracy theorists at QAnon.
I would assume that a reasonable estimate is around 12–15,000 scattered around the country, plus or minus a few thousand. In a nation of 330+ million people, this is nothing.
As I wrote in an earlier essay on a second civil war, a group of armed citizens alone can’t start a war in America. You need armed resistance between government-sponsored military units.
Okay, let’s assume that Judge Merchan sends Trump to prison. What happens? Liberals dance in the streets. Joy Behar can’t hold it until she gets to Buc-ee’s. Conservatives on Fox News, Newsmax, X, and Truth Social vent. Trump calls for calm and gets it. Trump raises $500 million more in donations and thanks Merchan.
There will be little, if any, violence in red states or red cities. Local democratic headquarters may get a rock or two through their windows. There may be a few protest marches in blue cities, perhaps even a riot. Maybe one or two blue-state governors call out the National Guard.
You see, Democrats want social unrest, or want to pretend there will be, because it fulfills their expectations, makes them seem rational, and allows them to take the moral high ground. The whole civil war thing is just a scare tactic to make the gullible believe that Trump is a threat to democracy. Sorry, Democrats — no civil war is coming unless you start it.
Remember, there is an election in five months. Most Republicans, independents, and blue-collar Democrats have jobs and families to look after. They have no interest in looting stores or trashing the towns in which they live. None of us has time for riots and race wars.
But we’re more than ready for Election Day. We are all for accelerating that.
