SHOCKED...SHOCKED THAT A PINKY WITH
A COUPLE OF HUNDRED SHAREHOLDERS WOULD HAVE DAYS WITH NO VOLUME.....ROFLMAO
Meanwhile the Dominican government is assessing that STEAMING PILE OF TREASURE Deep Blue has recovered and getting ready to present us with our division...
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Seems To Be An Awful Lot Of Assumptions
of knowledge, while emphasizing that the company has made no announcements.....We can be glad though, that the "guess" is now that London will be taking 80% of the division. I believe last time, we were told London would be taking ALL of the division...
Also important to remember facts....there will actually be TWO divisions...the first covering the recoveries made from Feb 2011 until March 2013.
This is where the "limited partnerships" (both of them...ROFL)will get their cut, of which NO ONE can say with any certainty how much that will be...Unless of course, they can prove EXACTLY how much the partners were owed, how much they have already been paid, or more importantly, how much the treasure is worth.
The second division covers recoveries from the London funding from March 2013 until Oct 2013. Again, without proof of contract, NO ONE knows how much that percentage is.
And also, diving did not stop because funding ran out. It stopped because the DR was having departmental changes and called in all the inspectors to conduct an inventory and prepare the divisions for EVERYONE diving in the DR. So ALL diving in the DR has stopped since then. This has been confirmed independently by others who actually do their due diligence.
Hey Quiller....Pretty Interesting Stuff....
I saw where they found coconut fiber used to make the shafts and dated them to between 1250 and 1400. That would knock out The Spanish or pirates treasure. Plus the nearest source of coconut fiber is Bermuda....Have to marvel at who on earth was traveling the Carribbean and Canada and what on earth they were hiding long before Columbus.
STILL A CLASSIC POST....
Just in case we forgot already, does this video answer just about all the last hundred questions.
Are they diving or have been diving?
Does the big ship make sense?
Are they using Billy's Boat?
Are they finding treasure?
Are they working in shallow water?
Do they work under a government contract?
My DD shows Garrett representatives were accompanied by The discovery Channel camera crew that is doing a hour long documentary on diving for treasure called Deep Blue Passion.
And if you can believe Treasure Watchers DD that he says all is at a standstill in the DR then what more do we need to prove?
And it doesn't take a Rocket Surgeon? to figure out when a division happens, money will flow again and so will PR's as they too cost money.
Three years of recovered treasure, Should be an awe inspiring division IMO.
Case closed EH? Be sure to watch the video again.
"NO EVIDENCE OF FACT"....ROFLMAO
http://ih.advfn.com/p.php?pid=nmona&article=46400308
THEN THERE'S THIS
And of course the 300 or so photos of treasure and it's recovery that have been posted here...Still haven't seen, nor expect to see one shred of evidence those photos were "harvested from the internet"
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Correct Capted...The Awarding Of The Divisions
is in the hands and time frame of the Dominican Government. As has been stated more than once, the other company down south will be getting theirs first, so be on the lookout for an announcement from them to get a better idea of Deep Blues time frame...It doesn't matter to actual investors whether that is on a Monday or Wednesday.
Hey Gulf...Nobody Is Diving Right Now...All Waiting
On the DR to dole out the divisions....First up will be the other company down south, then Capt Tracy, and finally Deep Blue - last due to the sheer quantity and quality of the treasures and artifacts recovered over the last three years. I'm sure the other company will announce their take, so we should look out for that to get a better idea of how the time frame is progressing for us.
Once the division is done, the London investors have committed to getting Capt Billy back diving as soon as possible.
These Are 4 Known Wrecks That Have
Gone down in our area...
San Miguel (1542)
bronze cannons
300,000 gold
1.2 million silver
gold and silver artifacts
San Miguel (1551)
bronze cannons
400,000 gold
1.3 million silver
La Salvadora (1553)
350,000 gold
1.5 million silver
50,000 gems
Santiago (1550's)
500,000 gold coins
250,000 silver bars
250,000 gems
We could be onto any one of them or something completely different . ID'ing any one would be a history maker. The coins recovered so far all fit in the time frame. Would be nice to see if we could link any of the Mayan artifacts to these ships. But would have to find detailed manifests to even start.
Also, if you do ID one, do you say anything before the cargo is recovered? As outstanding as Capt Billy and his crew are, these numbers would be too overwhelming to work. Other assistance would probably be bought in, which would give us a clue.
I'm sure part of the tasks being done while working on the division, is to see if we can connect any of the artifacts to any of these historic ships.
Capt Billy's Analysis Was Done
Before the 2013 diving and recovery season. He is working on updating his theories with all the exciting and important finds of this season. I'm sure he will share his thoughts with us when done.
CAPT BILLY ANALYSIS & THEORIES - PART 11
This is a photo of chests of coins from the Atocha shipwreck. This ship sank in 1622.
Our wreck would have happened 70yrs prior and maybe incorporated the same method of storing coins? I think its easy to see how storms and large waves could have pushed round ballast stones, that could have rolled forever but something like these chests of coins would have embedded themselves in the sand and remained behind?
There is a possibility this ship carried bronze cannon? and they too would have most likely remained untouchED by wave action. There could also be a large amount of cannon balls associated with this area? Many of these balls could have been made of stone same as the four we found inshore. That too has to factor into my theory, where is all the cannon balls? These ships were required to have a designated amount of arms or they weren’t allowed to attempt the trip home.
I am sure there were must have been more than just the four cannon balls issued?
I strongly believe there could be a large precious cargo buried under the sands of Preciosa. It may take years to find? The ship very well could have deteriorated through the centuries leaving only the heaviest items behind, if this cargo area remained somewhat intact it could be an area as small as just a few meters. With so much sand, literally a needle in a hay-stack
I have a personal passion to finish what we have started. And because of that anything I write like this is from my heart and nothing more. All of this of course is subject to change as more information is obtained. And of course most is only speculation. Speculation not that far from the realm of what has been presented to me.
Captain Billy Rawson
CAPT BILLY ANALYSIS & THEORIES - PART 10
Our Archeologist helped with a land based dig in the area of our wreck site. What they found was during 1552 and up till 1600 this was a thriving community of Indians. Also our wreck site borders a rocky cliff with very little beach area. Also one of our coins has a mint mark that may put this wreck later than that of the San Miguel.
At the time San Miguel struck the reef and lost her rudder and put a hole in the ship, she was sailing in a fleet of four ships. That is how the Spanish traveled, very seldom alone. So if this is not the San Miguel? then was this a different ship also sailing in a larger fleet? If this was the only ship that had wrecked then the other ships would have been able to pin-point the location and there would have been documents discussing this loss. These documents would have been easily available for modern day treasure hunters and that documentation would have been well known. I haven’t seen anything written discussing a ship lost in this time frame here in the DR?
This may be an indication lending to the fact several ships sank in the same storm? If true and in this harsh coast-line and depending on the strength of the storm, and whether the local Indians were friendly? It could be a possibility of very little survivors. Could we have more of this same fleets ships in this area? I know of a large mag-hit on the beach at Playa Grande. Buried deep in sand. Not to far from that we have reports of sand receding and in 20 meters of depth fisherman have seen small cannon. This area is also very deep with sand.
I guess anything is possible. If the cargo of the Preciosa Site is found and it is a precious cargo, then the search for the rest of the fleet should be priority number one.
I think I have strong circumstantial evidence that shows we have not found the hull remains of this ship. I guess what she was carrying will be a mystery till we discover this area? I cant feel stronger about this new theory as I do now.
CAPT BILLY ANALYSIS & THEORIES - PART 9
I think if you consider this (my) method of a “wreckage trail” then the width of the base would dictate the distance to the source. (Based on very little knowledge of these things) But if this is the case (and depending on how much sand was originally here) the hull may lie outside of our ·lake of sand.·
Notice the amount of sand in the red cone area. Very easily this sand has covered and protected what still remains of the section of the hull?
Speculation and Rumors,
The artifacts we found so far pretty much conclude this ship was on a return trip to Europe. I think now, most likely what we have found so far are personal items of the Captain. The Mayan artifacts could have been something so simple as memorabilia from Mexico to his family. Much like now days when tourist go to Mexico they bring home memorabilia. I think these items also help to prove that this ship was headed home.
Now I have to wonder? <>A ship headed home (captain had his stash) then what was the ships cargo?
Most documented Spanish shipwrecks had approximate locations assigned to them. The Spanish had salvage ships to go after the treasure as soon as the disaster was announced. Very well our ship may have been salvaged by the Spanish back then? Maybe the ship was carrying cloth or sugar and the only treasure items is what the Captain carried? In this era there was treasure. And every ship headed home usually was carrying someone’s treasure?
Why would the Spanish salvage the contents of the hull, without salvaging the Captains treasure?
I recently attempted the salvage of a fifty foot modern fiberglass sailboat here in the DR. My experience from this salvage may very well apply to the Spanish wreck. Within hours of the sailboat sitting in the surf the boat filled half way with sand. Not even a week had passed and the sailboat had been completely engulfed with sand. The locals told me two more sailboats were below that one.
How easy could the Spanish wreck cover with sand especially if the wreck happened in a full forced hurricane? If there were survivors then possibly the info may have gotten to the Salvage Ship’s. How long would that have taken? Equipping a salvage ship for the return trip? I would venture to say one month would be a generous guess.
What wreckage would have remained visible?
Could have all the survivors been butchered by the Indians? Maybe there was no info ever available on the whereabouts of this ship?
This gets more exciting, we have all the documentation pertaining to the sinking of a ship named the San Miguel (C.1554)
This ship struck a reef and I believe the story goes they lost there rudder and sailed south from the Silver Banks and washed ashore on Hispaniola. The documentation states that everyone survived and all the kings treasure had been recovered. It goes on to state the area of the wreck was a long desolate stretch of beach. It gives the depth of water and the make-up of the ocean floor.
CAPT BILLY ANALYSIS & THEORIES - PART 8
Above and below, is a water induction dredge using the Venturi method
This method of sand removal would be more practical. We could pipe the sand horizontally away from our work area. I constructed this dredge from a design I found on-line. We used a small gasoline powered water pump. The process was very slow. However if powered by a much more powerful diesel powered pump I believe we could pump the sand several hundred feet away from our work area. My belief is until all the sand has been removed we cant conclude this wreck is finished.
Other factors that may help in the location of the main section of the ship. Big question would be, how much has the coast line receded/eroded over four and a half centuries? I put together this chart below on my theories on that subject.
If this theory is correct and what wreckage we have found was only wreckage that washed up on an ancient shoreline then we need to incorporate that info into a high priority search area. Not knowing what the level of sand was at the time of the wreck? then we cant really use the underwater rock formations as possible barriers for stopping the wreckage.
If the sand was completely over these rock formations it seems likely things like ballast stones could have rolled across the bottom un-hampered by obstructions. I have witnessed the sand recede annually. Could have major weather events have change this phenomenon? for possibly decades at a time? So there may have been more sand or less sand back then? In the chart above I circled a swimming pool size hole in the rocky bottom just south of where all the wreckage had been found . We found nothing from this ship in this hole. I cant help to think that this hole was either filled with sand at the time or more likely was covered by land?
If you look at the chart and think why nothing else was found south of the red line then the only conclusion would be that the shore extended much further out and of course would have been a barrier for stopping the wreckage from moving further south.
Now looking at the chart above the brown line was where most of the ballast stones and artifacts had been recovered. I wasn’t an “A” student in my science class but just common knowledge you would think that taking the east west distance of wreckage then drawing a triangle or cone that may fit the fanning out of a trail of wreckage from the north you might end up with something like this chart below.
CAPT BILLY ANALYSIS & THEORIES - PART 7
With the knowledge I have using a magnetometer, I conducted a survey. The problem with surveying this area is we have a large iron wreck near-by also complications arise to towing a mag when the area is bordered by three sides of very shallow water-unable to do uniformed lines of towing. So what I did do was drop the mag in the shallow water and feed out enough cable and try to steer due north. I found several hits.
Problem is one hit could register many times if it its a large anomaly. When I had a mag hit I paid out enough cable to sit the mag directly over the anomaly. Then turned the skiff around and took and exact GPS reading. You would think this method would work. But it has flaws as you may be able to pick up an anomaly but be ten meters away from the actual iron? So this method isn’t perfect.
Normally a mag survey you make several passes from two different direction and the progressive strength or loss of a magnetic signal can help in pinpointing the exact location. Even though the hull of the ship may be mostly ferrous metal I still believe anchors and iron fittings that would, with a proper mag survey draw us a nice distinct trail on which corridor we need to mostly concentrate our search efforts.
This is a chart I made showing the lake of sand. The X´s are mag hits. Most all artifacts were found on the S.E corner of the chart. Some iron spikes and a very small piece of ornamental gold was found near the concentration of mag hits at the top of the chart.
The sand is very deep in the northern portion of our area. Making the air-lifts less effective. What happens when you get so deep the air-lifts are unable to rid the hole of sand. As you dig, the top of the hole widens, your tubes can no longer get the sand away from the hole. By the time you have a dinner plate sized view of the bed rock the top of the hole maybe be up to ten meters across.
Incredible amounts of sand need to be moved. Here is an air-lift in action. As much sand as air-lifts move it isn’t a sufficient method of thoroughly removing the sand.
CAPT BILLY ANALYSIS & THEORIES - PART 6
Hurricane Earl 2010
Hurricane Earl passed several hundred miles north of our site and produced waves over twenty feet high.
To put this photo in perspective look at the iron shipwreck to the right in this photo and again in the bottom photo.
Calm day on the Preciosa site
Look where the iron ship is in this photo. Very easily our wreck could have happened in a much larger storm? The photos of the waves above could have easily sank the little wooden ship. A larger storm and the waves would have been breaking further out and possibly waves twice as high. So it isn’t such a reach to think the ship sank further out and sections of the ship washed ashore?
Had the ship sank further out then it being weighted down with ballast and possible heavy cargo she may have remained there as smaller items and planking broke free and washed ashore. How many more storms passed through this area before the remnants of the hull became concreted together? If you take into account 450 hurricane seasons have passed you would think all items not held down by heavy weight would have eventually found themselves washed up on shore.
On our site we have an enormous amount of ballast stones. But not concentrated like a ships hull, (mostly “ballast stone piles” resemble the shape of a hull). Not here, these stones appear to have been wave driven and washed against some type of barrier. Could have the ballast stones rolled for any distance? They are round. If the ship was carrying heavy cargo ie: boxes of silver coins and silver discs could these items have remained with the hull section of the ship? and may have possibly pinned down ballast stones and even wood timbers? As the rest of the ballast stones were free to be washed to shore?
Cannons are another mystery, where are the cannon? In this era there could have been cannon made of iron or bronze? Finding this area with a magnetometer survey may not be that effective? possibly there was nothing left on the main section of the ship but bronze cannon and silver coins? a magnetometer survey wouldn’t pick it up. Maybe the iron keel bolts would register but in reality what else? Stone cannon balls were found so even these wouldn’t register on the Mag.
CAPT BILLY ANALYSIS & THEORIES - PART 5
So if that was true and we did find the Captains personal items. Then maybe we found what was the remains of the Captains Cabin?
That had me thinking how possible are the chances of the Captains Cabin becoming separated from the main hull structure of the ship?
I started looking on line for similar ships from that same time period. One ship model I found was built using the original plans of a ship named the Sao Miguel. This ship is what they used in the tropics and was designed to have plenty of shade. My guess is this ship would have been very similar to the one we discovered.
Look at the stern section of the ship. That would have been the Captains Cabin. I think very easily this box shaped cabin could have been separated from the ship. Look closely on the bow of the ship and you will see a rail gun. (A small breach loaded cannon.) Then look closely at that bow section of the ship. This section also looks like it could easily have become separated from the main hull.
What is interesting is we found one of these rail guns a few hundred meters west from the coins and artifacts.
Above, Breach loaded rail gun
Is it possible when the ship struck the hard bottom that certain sections of the ship became separated? It would have been hammered by heavy seas for many hours. In a tropical revolving storm wind directions could have changed by the hour. Likely the timing of the separation would have been met with different wind directions?
From observing different weather phenomenon on top of the cliff it doesn’t appear wind direction change the wave directions and in most all cases the wave action comes from due north. If something was floating on the surface it may have been more wind driven? but heavier object would have been wave driven. The heavier objects would have traveled the north to south direction.
CAPT BILLY ANALYSIS AND THEORIES - PART 4
So we have discovered no cooking utensils, no fire bricks. Only the two rudder hinges, also there would have been keel bolts, and many more iron fasteners, many things that are missing that would have normally been associated with the remains of the hull section.
What we have found. We have found, dividers used for navigation, an ink well for ink pens, a very ornate section of a medieval dagger. Nearly a thousand coins splash discs and some Mayan artifacts.
The coins were found in three concentrated area. some were scattered but the concentrated areas of coins came with same denominations. I have often wondered why that is? If the ship had broke apart and spilled its contents then why would there be concentrations of same denominations? My thought would possibly be wooden boxes or bags of coins washed ashore and over time broke up and that’s why we have these concentrated areas of same denominations?
When I think there possibly may have been a section of the ship that broke off the main hull and drifted ashore I often wonder what section that would have been?
We have the dividers, (used for navigation.) We had the ink well. It appears we have found the Captains possessions?
Above, The dividers and ink well found on our site
CAPT BILLY ANALYSIS & THEORIES - PART 3
These forks and spoons were recovered from the Spanish galleon “Atocha”
My conclusion is that we have not yet excavated near the center of the ship. What I am trying to do is come up with clear evidence that what we have found so far is only a section of the ship, a section that broke off the main section and washed ashore? Some more of the mystery would be the rudder hinges called Gudgeons and Pintles. We have found one matching set. On a ship of this size I believe there should be five sets.
If the rudder broke free from the ship then the “rudder side” hinges would have drifted away with the rudder and who knows where they could have ended up? However the ship side hinges most likely would have remained with the ship? Why haven’t we found more of these? I have a theory that the top half of the rudder could have broken free from the rest and drifted with the section of the ship that washed ashore. The rest of the hull-side Gudgions would have remained with the hull. Same with the fire bricks?
This is a galleon from the same era. Notice the hinges on the rudder. I believe five sets would have been normal for just about any wooden ship of that era?.
The Gudgeon and Pintle from our site. Just the one set. Notice the arms that fastened to the ship and the rudder appear rather short. Making me believe this was the top hinge. (The rudder was much more narrower towards the top.)
CAPT BILLY ANALYSIS & THEORIES - PART 2
I have reference book to the Padre Island shipwrecks by Robert Weddle There were three same period shipwrecks off of the coast of Texas. They were believed to be Spanish and after much research, the disaster of the fleet was found. These ships wrecked in a storm in the year of 1554. I have read through this book many times knowing how helpful it could be as our wreck seems to fit the exact same era. Hoping to find in this book anything to try and put the puzzle together. Just the other day I picked up the book and was reading through the recovered artifacts which documentation (even gives info about how many cockroach wings were discovered).
But what caught my eye was fragments of a fire brick. In every wooden ship there would have been cooking stoves and stoves used by the on-board black smith. Think about that? how could you start a fire on a wooden ship without some sort of protection from burning the whole ship down. I started thinking that we had not recovered any fire brick or fragments? We have recovered artifacts from as small as a needle to large fragments of pottery. But not one piece of a fire brick?
I started to pour over information on where in a ship from Spain and in the same era, cooked? If this ship had been salvaged soon after the sinking then why would they leave silver coins and splash discs behind to recover stove fire bricks? I doesn’t make sense? So where are the bricks? This started me thinking maybe what we have is just a section of the ship that had washed inshore? but the remainder of the hull could still be in the deeper sands further off-shore?
This is a cross section of a Spanish galleon. Notice the stove is at the lowest point of the ship and dead center.
Somewhere on our site there should be enough fire bricks piled up to kind of get an idea where the center of our ship lies. But to date not one fire brick has been recovered?
I would imagine in this same area we would find cooking utensils, pots pans, plates, knifes and forks. A ship of this era would have had 65 crew. Depending on how many common folks were returning to Spain there could have been up to 100 people on this ship. Certainly there should have been utensils?
CAPT BILLY ANALYSIS & THEORIES - PART 1
I have so many theories about this wreck site, and of course all is speculation until proven otherwise, but would like to share at the least, my personal view. And in some cases these views keep me up at night. And all views as always, subject to change, as each new clue surfaces? Mostly I am trying to make a case for why I don’t think we have found the main area of wreckage of this ship.
I cant imagine how many times I have been on top of that cliff that overlooks the wreck site and sat and wondered what had happened here 450yrs ago?
I have over a thousand dives on this site, my external computer hard drive has over 17,000 pictures and data of underwater recovery, and having 35yrs of sea experience, I feel I have enough information to piece together this puzzle. So I would have to admit with this amount of information pertaining to this wreck, it is very frustrating that I still haven’t been able to put all the pieces together.
CAPT BILLY SPEAKS!!!!
Capt Billy has provided a detailed analysis and theories of His and Deep Blue's work on the Presciosa site. It is quite long, so I will split it into parts. It is his honor to share this with the people who have backed and supported him and Deep Blue these years. There is a lot here, but hopefully everyone will get a better idea of the work and planning involved in diving on a treasure wreck.
Enjoy while we all await what is sure to be an amazing and historic division from the DR.
