I see you already got the reasons but my short answer was a history of late filings. The 10 spelled it out in more detail with Gaap compliance also.
I agree with SE that their priority is regaining compliance. That will open other avenues for growth not to mention other exchanges, Canada in particular. Your image and how you portray yourself to prospective clients is part of the game. Don't think for a minute that where you have been won't be looked at some time in the future by a potential client. Becoming compliant and staying there while moving forward from here will open other doors of opportunity for the company. Chris has a lot on his shoulders right now and he will be able to open up many more promising doors for himself in the future when he has a success story to refer too that he played a major roll in. At this point it will be a win win for all.
Bill
Oakie, Nice roast and toast! It will be fun getting to meet everyone at some point in time. Right now that seems like a million miles away. Long hours leaving no time to do anything but sleep and eat. I'll be glad when the outage period is over, can't wait. Speaking of waiting we are still short some 10Q's to become back into compliance. I'm sure the new CFO had and has his work cut out for him and I'm not sure how much got turned over to him to help easy the transition. Might be a reason it's taking so long. The question I have now is I knew we had 2 10Q's to go but with it coming up onto the end of the quarter is it going to be three?
What's a little more pressure.
Bill
So true. On Friday I had a coworker tell me he opened an account with Sharebuilder just so he could start investing. They told him he couldn't place an order for QTMM. Being on the pinks in it's current status didn't meet their criteria for their clients. Getting compliant again will be a nice milestone to achieve on the road to recovery and moving forward. It's a shame Steve can't rescind ex-CFO shares for services not rendered or more like LESS THAN ADEQUATE performance. Water under the bridge now.
Share update at my company - coworkers invested in QTMM is well over 2million shares and growing.
Bill
They would be competitors. The Candots have no relation to QMC. The University of Hamburg developed their version of a Continuous flow synthesis of inorganic nanoparticles. The best I could find for their quantity of production was "Up to one hundred grams per batch can be produced depending on the material." Doesn't sound too continous to me. http://www.can-hamburg.de/en/products/products.php

Bill
I'm not getting my hopes up too high. We have seen a few deadlines come and go. I think we'll get the two 10q's, then they have to get the trading restriction lifted for our CANADIAN friends and then the press releases will probably start. I wouldn't be surprised if press releases aren't after the new office is established in Texas and tied to patent approval. That would be the end of some of the loose ends that are still dangling. I'm sure there are a lot more we don't have a clue about. Hopefully not too much longer , at least we are starting to SEE THE LIGHT at the end of the tunnel!
Bill
Makes one think why.

The report in the Korea Times quoted an unnamed Samsung official as saying, “The solar-cell market is reeling from continued oversupply amid aggressive expansion by Chinese cell manufacturers.” The official continued, “We are evaluating the business on a ‘zero-base.’”
IMO opens the door for us if they are looking again at the business from the ground up. Zero-base is breaking the business down into different decision packages. This way makes it easier for senior managers to make choices among competing claims.
Boy would that be nice.
Bill
Or the deferred revenue could be as simple as office equipment sold prior to the move. Bummer
Bill
Deferred Revenue you asked? This is the definition:
Definition of 'Deferred Revenue'
A liability account used to collect deposits and other cash receipts prior to the completion of the sale.
Investopedia explains 'Deferred Revenue'
Deferred revenue is important because it's the money a company collects before it actually delivers a product. For example, a software company sells and receives payment for a computer program before it gets delivered or installed. This doesn't get recorded as straight revenue because, if something goes wrong with the job, the money is at risk.
Read more: http://www.investopedia.com/terms/d/deferredrevenue.asp#ixzz1mu4PTGP6
Quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In addition, since revenues generated from our existing products have been modest and the products we are developing incorporate new technologies and use new installation methods, we cannot predict whether or not product liability claims will be brought against us in the future or the effect of any resulting adverse publicity on our business.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I guess that's it...
WE'VE GOT REVENUES BABY!!!
Does anyone know what the deferred revenue of $899 in the balance sheet could be for?
If I was to guess I'd say the answer to your question is those funny glowy things they call TQD's.
Every flood starts with a drop of rain, excluding water pipes breaking in your house.
Bill
I don't have a problem with competition being displayed on the board, in fact I kind of like it for this reason. It shows the technology is expanding and every time they promote their business, product or a new use, they are exposing more people to the inevitable in the future. The good thing is we are not spending the advertising dollars they are to educate others to what the technology is about. Every dollar they spend in this early stage of the industry we will be able to compliment in the future to people already familiar and looking for a better way to capitalize on an increased return for their invested money. So as Nanoco and the other 16 companies spend their dollars promoting today, the educated in the future will flock to QMC, not because we advertised but because of the superior advances in technology that they developed. But most importantly it will be spread not by paying exorbitant amounts to the marketing companies but because the news will spread through the industry as real news events, in back rooms and through social media. Every publication likes a scoop and they all jump on the bandwagon when it sells product. Quantum dots will be sold in a lot of products with lots of publications picking up on that. Every company looks to get the most for their money and if you give what will add to their bottom line they are sold. It's all about profits, from Mom and Pop to Wall Street. So, of course getting out front early helps but at what price if you're exhausted and can't finish the race when it counts.
Bill
Very nice job Danny! You picked out all the appropriate items that peak the interest for all.
Steve is pretty close with execution of his plan. Back in on old Def 14C filing 12-28-09 you’ll see:
we need to build a manufacturing plant which could have cost overruns ((not sure where this stands even after the 10K or if it was for TQD’s or Solar cells)) and implement plans to hire sales and marketing personal, ((completed with Toshi, Andrew and Art)) establish distribution relationships and channels and strategic alliances for market penetration and revenue growth ;((completed with NanoAxis alliance and unannounced MOU with Saudi business group, should help with revenue growth and establishing relationships, a good possibility for the continued silence until IP is safely guaranteed between those relationships))
Our initial sales strategy for both quantum dots and solar cells will be to develop and execute a value added reseller’s channel strategy. We are also pursuing strategic alliances with companies that have established sales, marketing and distribution networks.
The size of the endeavor that Steve undertook is not the normal scope of a project with the current staff size. One very positive aspect of the silence for so long is he is not over-promising and under-delivering, a sure death sign. When Steve is ready it will be under promising and over delivering, a much better path to success. Until he pops the cork on this I’m in for the ride, even acquired a few more shares last week. It took two days to fill, This is pretty tightly held and even though Steve unloaded a few shares through the form 5 filing dates I really don't think there are a lot to be had, even if you are at the market price. IMO he did a good job by being hell bent on maximizing the shareholders value, thus he didn't entertain available avenues that would have given the farm away. More power to him!
Regards to all,
Bill
DD Don't get your hopes up too high for the 10Q 4th qtr. Steve was still self funding as of 1-5-12 which tells me there won't be any financials of interest until at least the first qtr of 2012. That's based on everything that is happening now, IMO. What ever TQD's were made during the trial and testing phase last year probably went to research orgs to do their investigation. If that is what they did it was a very smart move for everything developed will come back commercially in the future as products using QMC QD's. It's finally time to unwrap this present!
We're close!
Bill
Swamp,
We have always had an abundance of NG reserves, the United States is the second-largest producer of natural gas (behind Russia). My point after 40 years, being available and not used, it's "dead". We still have no compelling initiative to change over to using it as the primary replacement for oil. Cleaner it is for sure but the focus remains on supporting dirty oil. Look at what it took to get interest in the US for hybrid cars. Why don’t we have NG vehicles? Why do we continue to be reactive instead of pro-active? If we went NG you are absolutely correct the economy would be percolating better with cheaper prices, as lineman points out if they remain cheap. I would like to see every house with NG have a fill port, but we know that will never happen. I think you misunderstood what I said about nukes. Nukes aren’t as profitable with NG low. “The higher the price of NG the larger the profits for nuke power.” We are on the same page, I just state it differently from frustration that it hasn’t happened already. Changing to NG should have been our focus back in the 70’s. I was sitting on tankers full of oil being used as floating storage tanks hearing reports there was an oil shortage, never sat well with me.
Oil
• 44.2% gasoline for use in automobiles
• 27.8% heating oil and diesel fuels
• 22.2% other products, including those derived from petroleum for the manufacturing of chemicals, synthetic rubber, and plastics.
• 9.6% jet fuel
• 2.7% asphalt
Gas
• 34% Industrial
• 29% Electric Power
• 21% Residential
• 13% Commercial
• 3% Transportation
I believe we will see the solar industry have a better impact on the energy industry. That's because of it's broader acceptance being clean but oil and gas will always have their place, hopefully not at my expense.
Bill
Natural Gas is dead. When Obama didn’t address the US energy policy was going to support the most abundant energy supply the US has to get it off of foreign oil, I wrote it off. The profits nukes make are tied to the price of NG. The higher the price of NG the larger the profits for nuke power. There is no expected rise the next couple years and as more supply comes out of the ground the price will remain low. Utility power costs will remain low. If the US was switching the production of cars to run on natural gas I would have said renewables would be challenged. That would be because nothing would stop the exploitation of the resource and all fracking issues would be suppressed. Didn’t happen so NG will play a part of the energy story but a much smaller one than it could have. When was the last time you heard of a natural gas supply line run to a housing development of even a house? Solar is still going to be king in the end for one reason. Energy independence! If you have a choice of installing a system at your house that would power all your electrical needs including recharging your electric car, would you want to pay your utility bill? And when was the last time your utility bill went down? As more of the large institutions supplement their energy needs with renewables where are the utility profits to their shareholders going to come from? Just food for thought.
QTMM - one renewable of several solutions in the future.
Bill
I agree, we haven’t gotten to first base, heck we don’t even know where the game will be played but we are at least in the game. We have some of the players but not the full team and are still trying to figure out the line-up. I posted that outrageous rise to get people to think before they act so they can feel comfortable with their actions having put in the best plan they could. You have to have something in the play book to draw upon when time does come and not react only to regret it later. What play you select is up to you and until that time I’ll have to keep dreaming. HYPE is not what this company is about. If it was they have had numerous opportunities the past couple years to do it. What ever happens I’ll be ready.
Another day closer,
Bill
This is IMO the type of movement we could see with this company. http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/interchart/interchart.asp?symb=lexg&insttype=&time=8&freq=1
Remember IMO this LEXG was a Pump and Dump without any substance to support its value. QMC's performance could be significantly different. I posted this so people can start investigating other similarities associated with news release timing, # of issued shares, size of float from past performers to get an idea what type of volume is involved and the possible time frame. Also what Dockzef posted about shorts would have some bearing on performance too and be helpful making your decision as to when to recover your investment and take some profits. I personally am going very long as I’m of the opinion company(s) growth will be a 6-8 year run. I’m not a chartist or technician so I’m not one to ask for info. Others here can probably help but for links associated with investing you may want to look at the Intro Message board on MOMO’s Breakout Board. It is loaded with informational links on a myriad of topics. http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/board.aspx?board_id=4929

These are two organizations I found interesting that were granted gov money under the DOE SunShot Program:
PLANT PV ($750,000)
Berkeley, California
• Study the feasibility of using cadmium selenide as the top cell and silicon as the bottom cell in a tandem architecture
• Collaborator
• Molecular Foundry (Berkeley, California)
University of Chicago ($1,500,000)
Chicago, Illinois
• Develop new nanocrystal-based materials for next-generation solar cells The nanocrystals will be fabricated by very inexpensive and scalable wet chemistry, which will allow combining the advantages of conventional inorganic semiconductors with inexpensive fabrication
• Collaborator
• National Renewable Energy Laboratory (Golden, Colorado)
Chicago is somehow tied in, that is my speculation with this Prof. Talapin. Too coincidental the similarities discussed above.
http://newenergyandfuel.com/http:/newenergyandfuel/com/2011/09/19/quantum-dots-for-photovoltaic-cells-get-better/
Keep in mind this was back in September right after Solyndra: These are the last 5 paragraphs, funny how he ends with economy slowing development. I’ll wait, too many with too much invested already and this isn’t even a scratch on the surface of where this technology is going.
Professor Dmitri Talapin of The University of Chicago, who is a research leader in the field, considers the results saying, “This finding proves the power of inorganic ligands in building practical devices. This new surface chemistry provides the path toward both efficient and stable quantum dot solar cells. It should also impact other electronic and optoelectronic devices that utilize colloidal nanocrystals. Advantages of the all-inorganic approach include vastly improved electronic transport and a path to long-term stability.”
Professor Aram Amassian of KAUST, a co-author on the work said, “At KAUST we were able to visualize, with incredible resolution on the sub-nanometer lengthscale, the structure and composition of this remarkable new class of materials. We proved that the inorganic passivants were tightly correlated with the location of the quantum dots; and that it was this new approach to chemical passivation, rather than nanocrystal ordering, that led to this record-breaking colloidal quantum dot solar cell performance.”
Solar cells fabricated following the team’s technique show up to 6% solar AM1.5G power-conversion efficiency. The CQD films are deposited at room temperature and under ambient atmosphere, rendering the process amenable to low-cost, roll-by-roll fabrication.
When it comes to the roll to roll or printing processes the CQD material is the current top efficiency choice. Producers and consumers still have to wait to get an ideas on the pricing. One isn’t expecting that CQD is a one time use disposable product – the nirvana of photoelectric solar. But its getting closer.
If the economy could pick up perhaps this level of sophistication would get better legs into the market. For now though the flow to industry and products is going to be slowed up. We don’t need any more massive bankruptcy news from photoelectric.
Can't wait to party!!

I have unequivocal proof 2012 is the year!!!! I opened my Chinese fortune cookie and the document inside said; “Pennies from heaven find their way to your doorstep this year!” Based on that fact I took Mark Twains advise; “Put all your eggs in one basket … and watch that basket!” LOL
Kidding aside 2012 should be a very exciting year! We’ve completed the discovery phase, been in the development phase and have reached the tipping point triggering the commercialization phase! Bring it on!

Another reason it's so quite is we remain unknown in the investment world. Not suprising as many publications and sites won't touch a penny stock as we are categorized as, unless you pay a fee to have it promoted. Pump and Dump See e-mail I recieved below AMWI, started trading Nov. at ~ $.17, $1.39 12-8-11 and then $.25 12-9-11, closed today $.06 OUCH. Most reputable investor publication sites have criteria in hopes of preventing the P&D. As an example I submitted some of my articles to Seeking Alpha for publication. Their response was cordial, they were interested but it doesn't meet their criteria. That criteria is the stock has to be over $1.00 value and the market cap has to be $500 Million. Can't say we haven't tried and can't wait until the criteria is met. I think quite a few will be jumping on the band wagon at that point. Nice to be in early!
Oh, so close, yet so far!
Bill
Today's pick is: AMWI
Hi Everyone,
For our new subscribers, Welcome!
AMWI was unstoppable yesterday on its way to replicating lexg's pattern and soaring towards $12.
Everyone was extremely happy about that right? Wrong. Everyone was happy except the malicious short sellers who were upside down tens of millions of dollars (which they don't even have because they are on credit).
Then the most unexpected and outrageous thing happened. A random Joe Blow releases a news accusing AMWI of doing XYZ... and we say XYZ because it doesn't even matter what the accusation was. It could've been an accusation that the CEO is having extramarital affairs or that his dog died. All they wanted was a controversy, and they created it.
It's unfortunate that in this day and age releasing unverified 'news' through a wire for a company someone isn't even involved with isn't illegal yet.
Joe Jerkoff is in the state of California where he could sue the state if he thinks it's raining too much for his liking.
Bottom line is we think George Sharp was either short himself millions of shares or teamed up with the short sellers to release this bullshit 'news', and smack the company down to almost nothing. What wouldn't people do for tens of millions right?
They are the 1% and we are once again paying for their greed. The 99% needs to stand together.
If you were selling into this craziness you may be as much to blame as these guys. Why would someone panic when faced with unfounded information. These guys just stole so much money from AMWI holders it's not even funny.
If you lost money yesterday you can clearly blame this George Sharp guy, and you may want to go have a chat with him in San Diego.
This guy is a serial manipulator, and if you don't believe us here is the proof.
http://www.globenewswire.com/newsroom/headlines.html?o=12062
He has sued almost half a dozen companies in the past few months hoping to make a few bucks off the whole thing. How can anyone believe anything this guy does?
If you didn't buy AMWI yet, now might be the time to consider? It's trading at dirt cheap right now... 25 cents. It was at $1.50 yesterday which shows it clearly holds the potential to trade that high and even higher.
None of the fundamentals have changed, and it is still as solid as it was before the ridiculous 'news' came out.
The truth is it seems like it was way oversold yesterday, and may bounce dramatically today as people realize that there was no reason to jump ships so quickly on unfounded information.
Look at all the facts:
•AMWI is sitting on cutting edge technologies.
•AMWI is beating sales records
•AMWI is operating in the hottest sectors such as Cloud Computing which Microsoft, Google and many others want a piece of.
•AMWI has applications for the leading manufacturers' devices iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Blackberry, Skype and so on.
Do you really think it should have taken the hit it did yesterday? Don't you think it's oversold?
Do you not think it deserves the trust we had put in it so far? It is clear that Joe Blow and the short sellers have their own agenda, and we have shown you that it is not the first time he does something like that.
The man is a criminal and should be prosecuted for manipulation, but at the end of the day you can't trade a company by listening to him.
AMWI released an official statement yesterday saying that it will defend the action and seek damages. In our opinion it could be a successful defense and AMWI could be awarded millions or tens of millions for this little ordeal.
George Sharp isn't even represented by counsel! How ridiculous is that? It just goes to show that any Joe Blow can say anything, and create any lawsuit he wants, whenever he wants for any reason he wants. Don't you think that he's following the short-sellers' agenda?
These guys make TONS of money when the price crashes. Don't be the victim. Stand up against these guys.
The 99% finally has an edge that the 1% (wallstreet brokers, bankers and other scrupulous people) can fear so use it!
Patience is key in situations like this. Holding the fort solidly could pay off in a big way.
AMWI is as solid as it was 2 days ago.
Don't let outrageous things influence your smart judgement.
Happy Trading!

One characteristic a great CEO has to have is to be resilient. Steve has proven that already. He and the company continue to exist on nothing and they put that up front in the 10Q's and K's. This is not for those with a faint heart. What you say would have been very true in my case December of 2008. It was all about what was going to be done, a vision of what could be accomplished. Funny, JFK had a vision man could go to the moon. That too was a risky endeavor and with anything challenging there is always that possibility of failure. Could still happen, the road isn't built yet but I can see the path that's planned for it and even with the twists and turns it'll have to maneuver around it's one I'll take. If one started at post #1 and read through them all they would start to get the feel that this technology company has taken on. A life of its' own. Is it dysfunctional at times? Absolutely. The past CFO was of grave concern, made for a few bumps along the way but Steve eventually fixed that. Maybe his biggest fault is he believes people will deliver what they say they can, in that case we are all victims. Just don't tell wall street or our world as we know it would come to a catastrophic end instantly. What bothers me the most is many don't want to take the time to do the DD. Your question about infrastructure is valid and unanswered yet but many want instant gratification without doing the work. For me that doesn't cut it but in reality that will wind up making us a ton of money. Just look at all the penny stock and investment advisor web sites that have recommendations for the next big one. People jump on the band wagon without doing a stitch of research. It's like Gremlins at full stride following the one in front and with this media network we have now a day's the swings are exaggerated even more. No one wants to miss the next big one! Greed, will be a lovely term once this package is unwrapped.
Another day closer!

Well if you told me a year ago we would be where we are now in relation to price I would never have believed you. Unfortunately we are where we were last year. WTF? Where’s The Fortune I expected? I personally think it’s in Washington sitting in a stack of papers at the patent office. It will be really interesting to find out what was happening behind the scenes during this ordeal. You know they have not been sitting on their duffs during this time. So once we get over this hurdle it’s onto the next. If there is no news between now and the end of the year I think we will see some end of year tax loss selling. The last 100+k shares over this past week were probably some of that. So we could see some opportunity develop in the coming weeks to pick up more around this price or lower if no news comes. Sounds bad but on the flip side those playing the game will buy back in. Thus as some of us fear, if we sold it would be set in stone that we would have to pay more than what we sold it for. I think that will be the case. Those that sell around this price will pay more after the beginning of the year to get back in. I have been and could be wrong but I’m glad I don’t have to take any chances like that. I’ll sit tight for the ride. This puppy has huge paws to start with and for all we know it could be getting pumped up with steroids while it’s developing and IMO when it comes out it will be one hell-of-a-monster. Too long, too silent means there is TOO much to lose to promote before you can deliver. Steve is doing what NO OTHER company has been able to for the last twenty years, deliver high quality, economical QD’s in quantities that can support commercialization of what appears to becoming a plethora of products. Building the infrastructure for such an endeavor is a massive undertaking of itself. It takes time! Growth of this company will be for many years and I for one plan on taking that 8-10 year ride, in style when it finally lets loose from this undervalued price.
I understand many opportunities to make money have come and gone while we sit but I’ll stay with what I know. Good luck to those that don’t stay around and for those that do I look forward to meeting a few of you on the sunny shores of Hawaii, Bora Bora, etc.
Bill
I think Ted is stuck in the middle. His allegiance is to MIT and was committed to their QD process, thus the large investment in the new manufacturing facility for their QD's. The problem is it is now antiquated technology, much like Solyndra's was and is going to go down the same path. Thanks to Steve, QMC's economical mass production will surpass their short coming by leaps and bounds. Teds technological product advancements will eventually have to go the path of most conservative price structure to stay in business and profitable. That's when they will ask QMC to step in. IMO Steve will let the world come to him instead of him trying to push his product into the market. That saying, If you build it they will come will probably be very true for QMC's manufacturing process for TQD's.
As research develops more potential products and validates theories for use in other applications the demand for these QD's will absolutely explode IMO. Cha-ching ….
And again, IMO the few of us that recognize the potential and have taken on the risk in such an early stage of the companies development stand to do quite well in the future. I can wait.
Bill

Phone Losing Charge? With Photovoltaic Polarizers, Devices Could Be Powered by Sunlight, Own Backlight
ScienceDaily (Aug. 10, 2011) — We've all worried about the charge on our smartphone or laptop running down when we have no access to an electrical outlet. But new technology developed by researchers at the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science could finally help solve the problem.
The UCLA engineers have created a novel concept for harvesting and recycling energy for electronic devices -- one that involves equipping these devices' LCD screens with built-in photovoltaic polarizers, allowing them to convert ambient light, sunlight and their own backlight into electricity.
LCDs, or liquid crystal displays, are used in many of today's electronic devices, including smartphones, TV screens, computer monitors, laptops and tablet computers. They work by using two polarized sheets that let only a certain amount of a device's backlight pass through. Tiny liquid crystal molecules are sandwiched between the two polarizers, and these crystals can be switched by tiny transistors to act as light valves. Manipulating each light valve, or pixel, lets a certain amount of the backlight escape; millions of pixels are combined to create images on LCDs.
The UCLA Engineering team created a new type of energy-harvesting polarizer for LCDs called a polarizing organic photovoltaic, which can potentially boost the function of an LCD by working simultaneously as a polarizer, a photovoltaic device and an ambient light or sunlight photovoltaic panel.
Their research findings are currently available in the online edition of the journal Advanced Materials and will be published in a forthcoming print issue of the journal.
"I believe this is a game-changer invention to improve the efficiency of LCD displays," said Yang Yang, a professor of materials science at UCLA Engineering and principal investigator on the research. "In addition, these polarizers can also be used as regular solar cells to harvest indoor or outdoor light. So next time you are on the beach, you could charge your iPhone via sunlight."
From the point of view of energy use, current LCD polarizers are inefficient, the researchers said. A device's backlight can consume 80 to 90 percent of the device's power. But as much as 75 percent of the light generated is lost through the polarizers. A polarizing organic photovoltaic LCD could recover much of that unused energy.
"In the near future, we would like to increase the efficiency of the polarizing organic photovoltaics, and eventually we hope to work with electronic manufacturers to integrate our technology into real products," Yang said. "We hope this energy-saving LCD will become a mainstream technology in displays."
"Our coating method is simple, and it can be applied in the future in large-area manufacturing processes," said Rui Zhu, a postdoctoral researcher at UCLA Engineering and the paper's lead author.
"The polarizing organic photovoltaic cell demonstrated by Professor Yang's research group can potentially harvest 75 percent of the wasted photons from LCD backlight and turn them back into electricity," said Youssry Boutros, program director for the Intel Labs Academic Research Office, which supported the research. "The strong collaboration between this group at UCLA Engineering and other top groups has led to higher cell efficiencies, increasing the potential for harvesting energy. This approach is interesting in its own right and at the same time synergetic with several other projects we are funding through the Intel Labs Academic Research Office."
Ankit Kumar, a materials science and engineering graduate student at UCLA Engineering was the paper's second author.
Yang, who holds UCLA's Carol and Lawrence E. Tannas Jr. Endowed Chair in Engineering, is also faculty director of the Nano Renewable Energy Center at the California NanoSystems Institute at UCLA.
The research was supported by Intel through a gift to UCLA, and by the Office of Naval Research.
I like the sound of retail products using photon absorbers because there is a good possibility they are quantum dots.
This ties in with the Flexible Solar Chargers only the UCLA team has integrated it into the device, much better.

woof, they applied the primer waiting for the second coat now
With their corporate pockets as deep as they are they won't crash and burn. If anything a change in direction would be in play as the Solterra story unfolds. GE in the drivers seat would probably try a hostile takeover since QTMM is publically traded. Won't happen with Steve in command. Total speculation on my part. I don't know where they are on efficiency of the cells at this point or ability to print. The LUX article stating several years away for flexible print displays shows that they didn't dig deep enough into the current developments for this technology. Everyone will be caught by surprise with Dr. J's advances in the field. That's IMO. How long that takes is the million dollar question.
Thanks Doc.

Sorry - no longer true Budcat. Unfortunately I screwed page position up last night. I updated the title on the page header of my blog to include Quantum Materials Corp and lost my two years of building search engine preference. Boy was I bummed after I realized what I had done. Something said in the back of my head to leave the page header title alone. But in my effort to accurately represent as best I can my thoughts about the company, having Solterra only and not QMC didn't seem right any more, thus I flushed it all away in one stroke of the key without realizing it. On to better news - did anyone notice the two strategically placed letters that are in Art's post from 11-10-11? It's not on the web site, all it says is •Mass-Production of Printed Thin-Film PV Quantum Dot Solar Cells
Twitter post - http://twitter.com/#!/SolterraSolar
Solterra Solar Cells - low cost raw materials, green low cost production, mass production, hi efficiency thin film PV http://www.qmcdots.com

My question is how "hi" is hi? 8%?, 10%?, above 13% I think we would be at parity and in position to put a big dent in FSLR's market share in the future.
Close but no cigar yet.

……remember the co-funding by Solterra/Nitto Denko? Could be worth further digging.
Regardless, think the following link https://webapp4.asu.edu/directory/person/858379
Is worth playing around with for possible connections, (it’s a small world, after all).
Quantum Dot TATTOO INK - now would that be thinking out side the box? Could you imagine with the cadmium free QD’s using that as the ink? People have such a manifestation with changing their bodies with tattoos but they fade, loose their color and eventually melt into a blob of black with time. What could be done to change that? Multiple designs that pop with color under certain light. Think about going to a UV party where the dance floor makes your tattoos come alive. Neon signs of art available for a glimpse of time. A whole other level of tattoos, QDTOOS. It would be an underground cult of QD’ers. How about not so intrusive to the body but to the art canvas. Art work that would change with the interaction of the viewer from their touch based on their temperature. Kind of like the old moon rings. Only interactive moody art, who knows maybe it could be incorporated into the tattoo. If you were to get fired up mad the reds in your tattoo would come alive or if you were to once in a while chill like Free does your aqua blues and greens would radiate that calm to others. Maybe the two can be blended together and have walking bill boards, of course that would only work in the warm climates.
Putt’st around enough, got to go eat before I short circuit my brain. Just having fun waiting.
Bill
PS for the record I don’t have any tattoos, never liked them but the detail of art work of some of them is phenomenal.

The links in the copied article don't work but it still gets the company name in front of new faces. I like that they picked to quote Dave (DDhawk) from the article "it's the same as having 'a diversified portfolio , all in one stock'."

Quantum Materials Corp (USA) is inviting inquiries and proposals about the use of Group II-VI Quantum Dots that can be customized to your product / technology needs for commercialization. Visit http://QMCdots.com/ or contact artlamstein@qmcdots.com
We have a way to spread the word and educate people about this new quantum dot technology and the new qmcdots.com URL but we haven't been using it. Using the tweet and share button at the top of the page would be an excellent way to market ourselves. Retweeting to market and get the word out for familiarity is 1 of the most important things we could do from this site as we do our research and post the findings. Another way is to leave the qmcdots.com URL with a short statement how it relates to the article in the comment section. The reason this is important is Google tracks the number of times a URL shows up. I believe that gives you better page position. Another help would be any of the articles about QMC or Solterra that have Google +plus, you should +plus it. In summory retweet as much as possible, any article you see that has a comment field that's free advertising, by using the company name & URL you are getting people familiar with the company's name and product. Google plus when you can and it won't hurt if you have an email address of an organization that is doing research or product development to leave the company URL link to the QMC site. We can be the voice of many for one cause, OK two, success & prosperity.
Did I tell you I want to retire sooner than later.

And wait we will. I have gotten several of these type responses from investment advisors and managers that recommend specific companies to investors on their subscription and e-mail lists. Many have been to those associated with penny stocks. Penny stocks are stocks which trade for .50 cents to $5 or less per share. QTMM is outside of that criteria but it never hurt to get the name out first and up front for familiarity to those that can make a difference in the future.
morning,
nice chart bill but no volume. we're really only looking at stuff with $500,000 avg daily dollar volume and up, or at least the potential for that
i'll keep it on watch though.
thx,
j
Well that is it in a nut shell. Many recommendations from institutions and advisers to invest in QTMM isn't going to happen in mass until the volume is sustained above a specific price level. Once QTMM hits those minimum criteria's all hell will probably break loose, until that happens it's going to be a grass roots, word of mouth, little guy interest only stock with some days of '0' volume.
Glad I have mine at .075 average.

QTMM - Cash GIANT in waiting?
From: http://www.penny-stock-picks.com/
I highlighted the points of interest to me (call it hype) as I found them appropriate for where we are at this time with QTMM.
Penny Stocks of the Past Are Today's Giants:
You won't believe how much money you can make fast! Huge stock market fortunes are made every day! At one time giant companies like Wal-Mart, Nike, IBM and Microsoft were all penny stocks.
Nike once sold for only $2 a share! Now Nike sells for $49 a share! If you bought $500 worth then, you would have $49,000 now! That's just one example. All big companies like Coca-Cola, Microsoft and Wal-Mart were all penny stocks at one time! They were the stock picks of the time. They became penny stocks and favorite stocks once people learned their value. Now they are worth anywhere from $50 to $100 or more a share.
These stocks will never double in value like a penny stock can. They are tapped out. As big as they can get. So their value is gone. People who bought these as penny stocks years ago when they were cheap are now retired and living the good life of wealth and financial freedom! There are many more of these cash giants in waiting that you can buy today! These are hot penny stocks. Hardly anyone has heard of them just like no one heard of Microsoft when it first started trading. But back then, just like now, someone did the research, looked at their history and management, crunched the numbers and made a decision to buy, buy, buy -- and made a fortune! They were the cheap stock picks of that time.
Now you have a chance to buy company stocks like this, while they are still small and ready to explode. You can have penny stocks as your stock picks. Forbes Magazine, the leading investment magazine in the world, reported this story concerning penny stock investing ...
There are few things more exciting in investing, maybe even in life, than when a penny stock takes off. Once you spot a penny stock from the list of hot stock picks, you can be on your way to making a fortune from this stock pick.
We made the pick, we are currently waiting for the part about "when a penny stock takes off". Ugh, I found another grey hair. But I'm another day closer and that makes me happy because I can See The Light!
Bill
Hi Swamp,
Whether he did or didn't at this point doesn't matter. David beat Goliath and he had to be within all the legal boundaries to have won against the IRS.
Mid week is a dead period for this stock unless there is news. No news unfortunately. Thus I have to wait some more.
Bill
If you followed this stock as long as I have you'll see that on Wednesdays the volume is at a lull for the week. To me it would be a good day to put your order in low, in hopes it would get filled. Competition to up the bid just doesn't exist. Mondays have the most interest after the weekend when people have had time to review and do their DD. The end of the week picks up a little but not much. Still can't figure out the Market Makers and their trading strategy. I like it when I have an open order and they fill it at the low when I was willing to pay more. Baffles the mind.
Good news is the time between "Q" releases has been getting shorter. I guess our CFO Chris (Mr. Rogue) is getting into a flow. Who knows what doors will open up when current but they are working feverishly to get it done. Something has to be up.
Spouses can never get together until this has taken off. They would rile each other into a spouse bashing frenzy of biblical proportions. Names would spew out of their mouths as if they were talking in tongues, intent on degrading the very fiber that is the source of life for us. No, spouses and QTMM are two words that have a distinct life apart from each other for our own piece of mind and safety. Peace will only come when the pocketbook has a very, very, very deep bottom. That's one reason this can't happen soon enough. We also need to be vindicated for having the foresight to see what most didn't, wouldn't or can't. At least when this ship comes in we will have had a little reprieve before they mount their next offensive for our next stupid act in their eyes.
LOL - I may not be rich but I am having fun.
QTMM - MONSTER STOCK? Here are some reasons http://bit.ly/nAidId Do your DD and decide.
Costs savings to numerous industries that lowers their product bottom line is reason enough for me.
Thank you for having added QTMM to your list and having the foresight to "See The Light".
My two cents is QD Vision and QMC is a no go. MIT created their own microreactor and I think they will support their institution even though it is inferior production equipment. To drive down the price they may eventually go to QMC but for the first cut I think it's with MIT. They have to save face, hope I'm wrong.
