Eight dead after earthquake hits Spain
By the CNN Wire Staff
May 11, 2011 7:07 p.m. EDT
Madrid (CNN) -- Thousands of residents of the southeastern Spanish city of Lorca slept outside Wednesday night, hours after the town of about 80,000 residents was struck by an earthquake that killed eight people, state radio reported, citing authorities.
The 5.3-magnitude quake occurred at 4:47 p.m. (10:47 a.m. ET) and was centered about 50 kilometers (31 miles) southwest of Murcia, near the Mediterranean coast, the U.S. Geological Survey said. That is about 350 kilometers (218 miles) south-southeast of Madrid.
It was preceded at 3:05 p.m. by a 4.5-magnitude temblor centered in the same area, the survey said.
At least one of the deaths occurred in a building collapse in the town of Lorca, state-run EFE said.
we may even see a gap up at open with the way MSMY traded today.
very nive MSMY volume and green close. Look for more to come tomorrow. I say we open at .05 at least
MSMY will get to double digits and investors will double investment. IMO
MM's try to take a shake drop the ask to .0499 but not much there. could take it out to close at .05 HOD
.05 just took a hit, WTG everyone, we made .05 today. Need to hold it for closing
not at this level anyway. you are right it is crazy. MSMY has so much to offer and is a long term hold for many
NITE needs to go away, drop the .048 and let the .05 take over for MSMY

Haitian girl travels to Austin for life-saving heart surgery.
A 10-year-old girl from Haiti who has no mother or father is in Austin for life-saving heart surgery under the auspices of the Austin-based HeartGift Foundation.
Leonise Louima arrived in Austin on Sunday night, accompanied by her aunt, Shella Casseus. Leonise’s travel was donated by the American Airlines Miles for Kids program.
After undergoing medical tests, Leonise will have surgery at Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas to repair a heart defect called patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). PDA happens when a blood vessel called the ductus arteriosus fails to close normally in an infant soon after birth. (The word “patent” means open.) The condition leads to abnormal blood flow between the aorta and pulmonary artery – two major vessels that carry blood from the heart.
Leonise, a third-grader, lives with her aunt, her grandmother, her four sisters, her brother and several cousins in the Haitian city of Gonaïves. Leonise’s father died in 2001; her mother died in 2005.
In Central Texas, Leonise and her aunt will be staying with Yvrance Joseph, a native of Haiti who has lived in the United States for 30 years.
HeartGift supporter Lewis Lucke of Austin, a U.S. ambassador from 2004 to 2006, helped secure travel visas for Leonise and her aunt. Lucke was U.S. response coordinator for the Haiti earthquake in 2010.
Lucke served 27 years with the U.S. Agency for International Development, including service as the agency’s first mission director in Iraq as well as in Haiti.
“It is a wonderful thing that HeartGift is doing for Leonise,” Lucke says. “Haitians in general have been through so much hardship and trauma since last January’s earthquake. It is a truly special that such a great difference can be made in the life of one little Haitian girl.”
The HeartGift Foundation, which is based in Austin, brings children from around the world to the United States for surgery to correct life-threatening heart defects. These children come to the United States because their home countries lack adequate health care; they leave with repaired hearts and a new sense of hope for the future.

Austinite helps lead U.S. relief efforts in Haiti
Lewis Lucke had retired from his globetrotting aid work - until earthquake hit.
Just six weeks before an earthquake devastated Haiti, Lewis Lucke was on his old stomping grounds of Port-au-Prince, visiting a friend's church mission that brought medical care and new farming methods to Haitians. Lucke, who had served as the mission director of the U.S. Agency for International Development in the Haitian capital during 2000-01, remembers those weeks before the quake as being filled with optimism.
"It was the most hopeful period I had experienced in Haiti, with new investment, shops and stores opening, streets repaired and people upbeat," he said.
When the quake hit on Jan. 12, Lucke, 58, was in his Austin home, enjoying retirement from a 27-year career with the State Department and USAID — an independent agency that provides economic, development and humanitarian assistance around the world in support of U.S. foreign policy goals — while running a consulting business for companies seeking to operate in the Middle East and Latin America. The next day, as the historic scope of the damage became clear, USAID officials asked him to come to Washington to lend a hand.
Lucke said he thought he'd be advising relief officials. Instead, the father of three found himself on a plane bound for Haiti, tapped to head the U.S. government's massive effort and getting a new title: U.S. response coordinator for Haiti .
He now works feverish 16-hour days trying to solve daunting medical care and shelter shortages, make the relief effort more efficient and transparent, and manage nearly $300 million in USAID funding for Haiti's recovery. In many ways, his job is a race against time: The rainy season begins in May and could make life even more hellish for hundreds of thousands of Haitians if they don't get adequate shelter.
"My instinct was to come back to this place that I know so well and do what I could to help," Lucke wrote in an e-mail to the American-Statesman. "I would have done practically anything to help."
you really called this one. Looks like MSMY is going to be a major player in the Haiti Rebuild

$MSMY from todays news
The new wholly owned subsidiary brings in-house a key element to complete the earthquake protection of MCE’s Lamisteel residential and small commercial buildings. The seismic vibration-dampening systems will be a $10-$15 Billion business by the year 2015 according to the Green Economy Post

Something to think about, This is one good reason to have a home build by MSMY and subsidiaries
Think about why hundreds of those mobile homes and most of the stick and brick
homes disappeared in Tuscaloosa a couple of weeks ago. They just vanished. And the insurance
companies are going to buy the same type mobile homes made with 2”x2” studs as a
replacement for those who were lucky enough to have survived and had tornado insurance.
Why do that? Ecomomics? For almost the same cost they could purchase and build a home
that was constructed differently, with alternative methods and technologies that could stand
225 mph winds or an 8.0 earthquake. We need to educate and we (MCE) need to be the
designer and builder or even better, the master planning firm and the developer. Acceptance of
“change” is our biggest obstacle. The building industry (here in the US) has big lobbyists and big
money and they construct with only the “bottom-line” as a goal. You would think that building
with “safety” is a common goal and an important issue, but it really is not. Using wood for
structural elements and fiberglass insulation for passive temperature protection are bad
practices. Period
$MSMY CEO Tim Algires reiterated that
These economically constructed base isolators will play a key role in the foundation engineering for the reconstruction efforts to rebuild cities and communities within the earthquake ravaged countries of Haiti, Chile, New Zealand, China, and Japan.

GREAT News today for MSMY. see 5's and better..... IMO
$MSMY News!!
The estimate to rebuild these countries now tops $600 Billion and they require new technologies that are both economical and time-sensitive. Homeless survivors need to have their communities rebuilt, but they must have confidence that the new buildings can withstand the aftershocks and future earthquakes.”
This Technology will give the the confidence.

that is a great video, anyone that has lived through an earthquake can relate. The earthquake caused the main island of Japan to shift as much as 13 feet to the east. Towns flood at high tide after shift; Japanese coastal communities moved down into sea by quake.
the only thing left for MSMY is solar and wind, I think.
MSMY builds safe, secure and green houses and projects.
I would love to see that quake guard system work, I have an idea of what it would look like in my head. I am thinking it work like or be similar to what an artificia hip. Where it would roll around ball bearing style
and soon to be added to the list of MSMY Subsidiaries.
