AAPL Speculation
Linda, I think we'll see multiple leaps and pullbacks all the way up to $80.00 a share between now and the first of the year. It's awfully tempting to sell some of my longer term plays to load up on AAPL. My Fuel Cell technology plays are already profitable with the potential of at least a 200 % return in the coming years.
All the R&D money that AAPL invested over the last three years while the competition has been napping is coming home to roost. The iMac G5 is starting to make some inroads .... thanks to the iPod/iTunes market music dominance. A more powerful Powerbook in January would assure additional market growth in the PC market share.
My biggest pet peeve with AAPL is its unwillingness to get aggressive on price. AAPL should introduce a headless G5 iMac at $499.00 or lower as a loss leader to woo even more switchers to the Mac OS X platform.
BR, Altaire4 ..... Happy Thanksgiving to everybody on the AAPL iHub Board !!!!
Linda Your batting a 1000 ..... AAPL above 65.00.eom
Hey Linda, Thanks for your concern.
No need to feel responsible I'm a Big boy and made my own decision out of haste. I've profited from AAPL handsomely over the years so I'm way ahead of this position. I only stated that the purchase was a mistake so that newer investors that may be reading this board understand some of the basics of investing. I have enough confidence that I will profit from this trade in good time.
BR, Altaire4
Thanks for all the great responses on my AAPL dillema.
I've decided to hold the position until the next quarterly results. But, I still believe that you should never chase a stock. If not for AAPL's strong leverage in the music business and the iPod market I would sell for a small loss. 72.00 a share or higher is still a very strong possibility. Interesting to note If I had kept my long position in AAPL I would have realized an additional 20 percent in gains.
BR, Altaire4
AAPL Trading mistake.
I just violated one of the Top Ten rules of investing. NEVER Chase a stock price or you will most likely get burn't. The question now is do get out now or hold for the long term ?
Go AAPL !!!
Linda, Jumped back in at 62.00 .... this is getting Surreal. eom
AAPL 61.13 ...
I cannot believe .... I'm missing this run up from 55.00 on AAPL. I guess I've gotten way to conservative for my own good.
Go AAPL !!!

DENVER — Invesco Funds Group and its sister company will pay more than $450 million in penalties, restitution and lowered fees to settle allegations they allowed wealthy investors to trade their mutual funds improperly.
Under the settlement, Denver-based Invesco will pay $325 million to resolve litigation alleging it permitted excessive market-timing in its funds. Its sister company, AIM Advisors Inc. of Houston, agreed to pay $50 million.

OT: Dubya needs a few new Jesters
Powell decides to leave Dubya's Court.
When Powell realizes that his political career is toast .... do you think he will sing like a canary ?
Both, The "Good Soldier" General Powell and Senator John McCain had an opportunity to run this nation. They blew their reps for the shrub and I don't believe the American people will trust them again.
Out of AAPL's again !!!
Sold AAPL for a short profit. Looking for another re-entry point. I don't see AAPL going much above $55.00 in the short term.
OT: MKTY and Flex starting to move. Mobion Fuel Cell being touted by Scientific American and Popular Science as a break-through in this technology.

iTunes, iPod really about Quicktime
Apple's tactics in music have strengthened the position of the Quicktime media platform in the realm of media consumption. This could be parlayed into a dominant position in video consumption.

How many more need to die for the sake of Haiburton and Becktel in the name of democracy ?
How does the Christian Right get away with the moral justification for this travesty ? They are neither Christian or Right, many of them are morally bankrupt and profit from both the death and misery of our soldiers and the iraqi people.
OT: Blue, I don't want to get into your whole argument on an issue by issue basis, but the methodology of that study that came up with 100,000 Iraqi civilians killed by us is seriously flawed.

Trojan horse spies on Web banking
Security experts say they've discovered a Trojan horse that records e-banking user details and Web surfing habits.
Security researchers at Sophos are warning of a new Trojan horse which helps criminals break into the accounts of British internet banking customers. The Troj/Banker-AJ Trojan targets users of online banks such as Abbey, Barclays, Egg, HSBC, Lloyds TSB, Nationwide and NatWest.
Troj/Banker-AJ lies dormant in the background on infected Windows PCs, waiting for computer users to visit legitimate online banking websites. Once it notices the computer has visited one of a number of banking websites it springs into action, capturing passwords and taking screenshots. This information is then relayed to remote hackers who can use it to break into the bank accounts of innocent users and steal their money.
In the past, Sophos has monitored this technique being used by criminals wanting to break into Brazilian online bank accounts, but now there is growing evidence of the same trick being attempted on UK shores.
"People are increasingly aware of the threat from phishing emails which direct innocent users to fake banking websites in order to capture personal details, but this Trojan is different - it waits until the user visits a real banking website and then surreptitiously monitors the login process. It's like having a mugger looking over your shoulder as you type in your PIN number," said Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at Sophos. "But computer users needn't panic - deploying and updating anti-virus software will provide protection from this latest menace."
Sophos recommends that companies protect their email with a consolidated solution to thwart the virus and spam threats as well as secure their desktop and servers with automatically updated anti-virus protection.

10.3.6 Update ?
Linda, the 10.3.6 update can cause this type of system hang. Usually cutting power from the system and restarting fixes the issue. In some instances zapping the pram will fix this issue as well.

OT: Voting irregularities
Alot of circumstanial evidence of voting irregularities have surfaced across the nation but until enough concerned citizens demand an investigation into this we have to accept the outcome. Personally I believe that a recount in Ohio would reveal much of the truth but I seriously doubt that a recount would be allowed.

OT: ECONOMIC SANCTIONS
If your as disappointed about this presidential election as I am. There are some things you can do about it. I'm analyzing all of the companies I invest in, products I purchase and do business with. Any business that donates only to the Republican party I will sell an boycott their products. Any Sector company that donates to both the Republican and Democratic party I will reduce that investment by half until I can find a like company that supports the Democratic party. If enough people follow this simple set of economic sanctions the corporate backers of the Republican party will get a very clear message. Until some fiscal sanity takes hold of this country I'm going to vote with my pocketbook ..... everyday.
BR, Altaire4
Go AAPL !!!
OT: Bitter Irony: I suspect the Republicans may press their advantage in the popular vote count to declare a victory.
I still believe that Howard Dean had the best shot to defeat Dubya because he was not apart of the Washington establishment. A clear message of changing the direction of this country.
The Republican's did a very effective Job in defining their opponent (Kerry) as a Washington insider that voted for the iraqi war without supporting the funding for it.
But Kerry's biggest mistake was pledging not to raise Taxes on the middleclass when we all know that based on his plans he could not afford to fund his programs without additional revenue.
BR, Altaire4
OT: This election is very suspicious
Republicans began to eat away at the monolithic black vote this day, and the erosion of the Hispanic vote was huge. The specific dimensions will come as the final figures are sorted through, but the broad strokes are well visible already.
That's of course assuming their was no fraud or disenfracnhisement of voters. The Kerry campaign should demand a complete recount of all of the disputed states if necessary.
How many of the disputed states used the new diebold equipment ?
The amount of states that where too close to get early returns is very suspicious.
Maybe we should get the Canadians to monitor the recounts ?
OT: IT gets better ... CNN reporting that the owner of the Red Sox has his jet at the ready to deploy the Democratic legal team too IOWA and OHIO and other states in dispute. Then theirs the absentee and military overseas ballots that haven't been counted. No concession and no winner tonight.
ditto to that ?
MSNBC calls Ohio for DUBYA but CNN has not called Ohio yet ?
MSNBC says Ohio is still in play ?

win but I hope you kept your AAPL's. Everybody needs a retirement nest egg.

P.S. I believe the Bin Laden tape may have swung the election over to Kerry.
OT: Polls all over the place
Many people seem to think that these straw polls are issued to sway the undecided vote.
I don't consider any of these polls truly representative of the American people.
In the 2000 presidential election most Polls indicated that Bush had a very large lead on Gore it didn't work out that way.
I do believe if Kerry wins the presidential election will be challenged.

OT: Responsibility
Doesn't seem to be a word that fits the current administration.
Responsibility \Re*spon`si*bil"i*ty\ (r?*sp?n`s?*b?l"?*t?), n.;
pl. {-ties} (-t?z). [Cf. F. responsabilit['e].]
1. The state of being responsible, accountable, or
answerable, as for a trust, debt, or obligation.
2. That for which anyone is responsible or accountable; as,
the responsibilities of power.
3. Ability to answer in payment; means of paying.
