<Please, let it go.
I am not defending sinclap. I am objecting to the almost constant Apple bashing taking place here by some. >
There is so little Apple Bashing here it is not worth mentioning.
It is really something, to write the pejorative posts you did re: Dilleet and then to ask Please Let it Go. There wasn't much to hold on to till you started your Apple Boosterism.
I'm happy, I made a bunch of money today....but don't bring the culture of mindless boosterism and mindless basherism here - it is pretty much non-existent - though we do have some boosters and some questioners. I tend to lean toward the booster side of fence myself, but most of us are beyond the level of cognitive development where we view things in such stark dichotomies.
<And since I knew you had similar plans, I was commiserating.>
Thank you, I made up for some of the ouch by jumping into the after-hours fray early :).
<You still plan to buy in high 50s and 60s?>
I am not sure at what level I will buy. Will watch for a bit. I am getting a feeling that CPU sales are going to to be strong, I suspect that there is significant upside over the next 6-9 months anyway, and holding Apple is part of what makes me a little more diversified.
What do you think of Adobe here?
Jim is Jim - ouch??
got shares with a cost basis of 54.73 + I pocketed a little over a couple of bucks a share on some I sold this afternoon. I don't feel pain :).
Woo-hoo, so far
replaced the shares I took the profits on this afternoon with some @55.91 post standard session.
Apple® today announced financial results for its fiscal 2006 third quarter ended July 1, 2006. The Company posted revenue of $4.37 billion and a net quarterly profit of $472 million, or $.54 per diluted share. These results compare to revenue of $3.52 billion and a net profit of $320 million, or $.37 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter. Gross margin was 30.3 percent, up from 29.7 percent in the year-ago quarter. International sales accounted for 39 percent of the quarter's revenue.

Aww - at work and unable to participate today, but plan to take off the afternoons of the next two quarter's reports.
Sold the 1/2 of my shares that I bought at 52.14 on Monday. Going into earnings with a very small position.
I made one buy @ 52.14 on Monday (I think it was), and an equal-sized by today at 53.56. I am planning 4-6 other buys over the next few months - contingent, of course, on many proprietary factors :).
Took a bite of the AAPL just now at $52.9485.
Hope it goes well for you
Think you paid .0085 too much, though :).
<One of you did engage one of our (bashers), >
Did someone respond to ace? He is the only thing approximating a basher here, and he isn't real good at it :).
Yours....ours.....what is up with that
Don't create division where they do not exist.
Thanks Bootz,
Saw it earlier. Looks good :)
Annie, Mazda MPV - an old one :). eom.
What's a rec?
Kathy had one last week, and we bought a different car on Saturday. :) - Kathy was ok, Subaru was not.
AAPL playing time is here mid-week. eom.
Waiting till Wednesday, am I
but the wife insisted I buy some shares in her IRA this morning - I warned it that the share price could dip after the earnings report - she asked how far, I said probably no lower than $45. She said BUY, so she now has a 1/4 position in AAPL.
Seems she remembers buying around this time last year and then selling between MacWorld and earnings in January.
It is more Barron's than Munster, I suspect. Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday will be more influential.
Best Buy
Has anyone run across any mention of how the pilot Mac thing at Best Buy locations is doing?
This board appears to be quite calm and polite. Think it will stay that way??
It would be better if it stayed that way, with the rare exception of the occasional short term spat.
If you have other, less polite plans for it, please go somewhere else, like ragingbull.
Pay Bootz no mind, post away.
Enliven the place, inject new energy into the iHub AAPL board. Worse Bootz will do is post a few photos :)
Well, IAC, I did a bunch of buying in the past 15 minutes :).
We'll see how it looks from next week's vantage point. May have been boredom as much as anything else *g*
If you're going to credit him with getting the heck out of that disaster, it's probably only fair to acknowledge he created the disaster in the first place.
Jobs created the manufacturing snafus at IBM?? With the Cell processor?
I must be misreading you.
In which case presumably you'd lower your assessment of what it's worth as well as what you'd be willing to pay.
Have already done that, though I really think $45 is far more likely than $40 - depending on guidance and what the market thinks of MSFT's entrance into the integrated music/entertainment handheld business. I probably don't need to tell you that the market over-reacts from time to time, and we may be seeing a developing situation where is/may continue to happen. I would view it as a window of opportunity.
OTOH, AAPL may soar Tuesday and Wednesday. Make your determinations and place your bets. My best bet these days has been the old Money Market account while waiting for a couple of those nice hanging curve balls that can be easily knocked past the infield. Trying to stay away from those nasty sliders down and away.
AAPL @ 50?
Looking for $40
Caught a news story on the way out after lunch - about 4:00 Eastern time - that the FBI was involved in investigating several Bay area tech companies re: re-pricing of options for executive level staff.
Anyone hear anything about that and/or who the targets are?
NW 23rd store in Portland
Totally transforms that corner and is a totally inappropriate transformation. Put it in Marfa :).
I took some profits selling partial positions of GG and AUY. Holding GRS, SLW, NG, FRG, GLE and GPXM - along with the GG and AUY I did not sell.
Will look at it again later today and decide whether to take more profits. All in all its been a good week of trading so far, selling off all PMs last week and buying back on Monday and Tuesday.
KCMW - put buying
I have not looked at it closely. I sold my AAPL position and have no position now.
Been making some money, but it has not felt easy.
Bought a bunch of precious metals the last two days, but might be selling tomorrow. Some comish for the brokerage, some profit for me. Sometimes it is just a matter of grinding it out.
Thinking that some puts might do a good job of hedging me AAPL long position. May do that in the next day or so. Never have before. Would love to hear comments about it.
OT bootz, page comes up eom
broken graphic image in Firefox on XP
Right-clicking and selecting view image revealed it, though.
broker is happy
roni is pretty happy too :). Remember when it used to cost real money for a stock transaction :)?
Frankly, some of it was probably boredom
Bought some AAPL @ 55.96
might be gone before earnings
still way heavy cash
hardly any miners
have good weeks.
OT Bootz
Thanks for the photo link
Never been south of Tijuana on the Baja Peninsula. Would love to see La Paz and Todos Santos, and some of the natural landscape around the cabos - but resorts like the one in thwe photo are not my travel style.
Now, little hotels like the one we paid 350 pesos a night for in San Miguel, or the B&B that cost US$45 in Ajijic, or the one in Guanajuato that was around 900 pesos a night - generally fewer than 50 rooms (often fewer than 15). More adventuresome that way *grin*
That was true enough for the 70 years of PRI dominance.
Stopped being true with PAN's victory 6 years ago.
I only wish the US election laws were as good as Mexico's. Won't ever happen, we are stuck with our outdated system for some time, I am afraid.
Dumped the AAPL I bought yesterday. EOM
I changed my mind and bought a small portion at 55.72. eom.
Bootz,
buying Apple. Not yet, and I am 80% cash now. I'm going to watch earnings and the reaction to earnings, very likely with zero AAPL position. Risk averse right now. Having a good year and plan to keep it that way :).
Updated SuperDuper, erased external drive with Disk Utility, repaired permissions on internal drive, SuperDuper almost done with the back up.
Gonna install all those Apple software updates when it gets done, I reckon.
