d-k, thanks, was about to go poking around.
Pays to peek at the FA and not just the TA, eh?
;)
Was going to wait anyway, W%R certainly not up to muster yet and volume today pretty low.
Thanks again.

Daily chart on DNE
Possibly setting up nicely.

DNE
Possible beginning's of Magic Box, high volume red candle yesterday, have no idea why.
OT: Has anyone here been keeping track of the CAFE debacle?
I just noticed yesterday that CAFE had started trading again the other day, after that long SEC halt.
Ugleeeeee.
I wonder if there's a chance Wal*Mart will actually give them an order now. Probably one to keep an eye on, just on that remote possibility, it would cause a HUGE pop IMO.
Sorry for the OT, just had to comment on it, such a huge drop after that long wait.
jonesie
Wow, just noticed CAFE started trading the other day ...
after that long SEC halt.
Back down to pre-WalMart news release levels.
That's ugly.
Love this weekly chart
NEOM
Let 'em shake it a little more so ...
when it pops the pop will be more dramatic.

Making a move? Coming off a prelim. Magic Box setup?

Maybe getting ready for a move. Keeps trying to get W%R past 50. I'm reminded of something nlightn said on his "OTHER" board, about a man who falls down a flight of stairs can get up, dust himself off, no harm done, versus a man who falls out of a 3rd story window. Did CHID fall out the window a while back?
Disclosure: I'm in CHID.

10:32 a.m. 09/07/2005
MIAMI, Sep 07, 2005 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- We like stocks trading big dollar value volume! A very interesting indicator to look for, is where is the money is flowing into. We have a filter that we watch every morning that shows us "Dollar Volume". As of 10:00AM, a couple of the big dollar earners are: (DYMTF), (NEOM), (ADTN), (ALNY)
<snip>
NeoMedia Technologies seeks to invent, develop and commercialize technologies & products that link the physical world to the Internet. For the six months ended 06/30/05, revenues rose 61% to $1.3M. Net loss fell 13% to $3.5M. Revenues reflect increased an increase in income from internet switching & micro paint repair segments. Lower loss reflects improved operating margins and the absence of amortization of debt discount.

As a trader, a very intelligent place to put your money, is where the money is flowing into. When you get into stocks that are trading millions of dollars within the first 30 minutes of the market being open, chances are you will be able to get out of your position without hurting the stock. These are the kind of trades that you want to get into.
As the saying goes...follow the money."
quite the move.
Finally got the chart signal I like, at least intraday, added about 25% to my stake. Shoulda added more the way it looks right now LOL.
Got a few questions still but it's hard to argue with a 42% pop.

tradermask, you're very welcome.
Now that's just MHO and just one setup I like, so it was just an explanation of how I'm looking at it and what W%R is.
My methods don't necessarily catch stocks at the very bottom, in fact I hardly ever try to guess a bottom unless there is huge support at a point that I am very familiar with in a stock I have been in and out of over a long time. Mostly bottoms are only bottoms in hindsight ;) What I do try to do is catch most of a run after various confirmations of an upmove. Everybody has a diff. way of going about that.
Definitely not a Wild West shoot from the hip guy here LOL.
jonesie
zacked, hangdog
LOL, geez, hard to get a joke through around here isn't it. Did you guys seriously think I was seriously talking about a market crash?
Probably not. Right?
jonesie
Might have gotten the signal I've been waiting for ...
W%R(9) crossing 50.
After the red candle on the lower Bollinger Band(20,2), then the white candle the next day ...
With Aroon Down moving from 100 to 87.50 in the same time frame ...
Now the W%R move ... it's a setup I increasingly like.
Less reliable on thinly traded stocks, but I may start buying.
jonesie
Therapist?
IS there a good therapist on board?
Discount rates available for online therapy?
I've got 15 stocks going, 100 more queued up, and a friend just told me Bob Prechter is still predicting a market crash, I constantly need therapy.

W%R, also abbreviated as Wm%R, or even %R, is actually Williams%R, an indicator I use a lot.
In this case on my CHID chart I have set periods for the indicator at 9, thus W%R(9). In other situations, depending on the timeframe I am looking at, I may set periods at 14, or 28.
Description of W%R
http://www.stockcharts.com/education/IndicatorAnalysis/indic_williamsR.html
In the following chart W%R is still showing weakness and a bit of indecision. The red candle touching the lower BB the other day, then the white candle printing the next day, is, IMO, a good spot to start watching closely, especially since Aroon Down moved from 100 to 87.50 at the same time. W%R(9) crossing 50 (with direction being towards 0) is a good confirmation sign that momentum has possibly changed in the upward direction. It can take one or a few days for W%R to confirm this move. The longer it takes, the less I rely on the overall setup.
All IMHO and FWIW. -jonesie (seems IHUB is doing maintenance, not sure this chart will come thru, if not I'll re-post later)
I'm getting close to loading up.
All the bigger moves in the past have been presaged by that W%R(9) crossing 50. I've bought a few down here but I'm waiting for the chart to come together better. JMHO

p.s. Some sub-$20's from new datasources I screened in.
Strange chart, Aroon down did not make the move down but .. well, strange chart, worth a peek:
marty, you do the same, everybody here have a great weekend.
jonesie
p.s. 'preciate the comments, I appreciate your input as well. Working on getting more good stocks into the datasources to scan for the "moves". Especially some based on goose's request ;) More later.
OT: marty, so it's not just me?
sheesh.
I'm serious about the "basher" part. Subtle, but there nonetheless. On top of what I just mentioned in my "farewell" post to penny, there was the way he/she twisted my initial OT comment about CYBR when I was renewing an old acquaintance with personalizit. penny made the totally outrageous non sequitur statement that "parallels had been drawn" between NEOM and CYBR and wanted more info. IMHO nothing more than a patient basher. My last comment on the subject. Apologies for wasting board space with any of it.
jonesie
Penny:
You make assumptions about what I'm doing so you can say silly things.
What do you mean .03-.05?
The stock went from under .30 to over .43 in a week, that's +50% actually. Those who know how to read a chart made 50% in a week. That's not ".02 gains".
Yes, we are all looking for the big gains down the road, I sure am.
You want it today. Or yesterday. Or tomorrow. Maybe, but since I'm not in your head I can't know, just like you can't know.
I'm putting you on ignore, you are the most frustratingly idiotic poster I have seen on this board. I truly think you are some sort of basher "plant". You cry at every drop, and you complain when the stock rebounds. You look for things to complain about. You say you sold, you say you bought back. You ARE a trader by your own words and now you say "we are not". Good luck to you. By ignoring you I will never be tempted again to reply to you and waste board space like you do with nearly every one of your posts.
Sheesh.
jonesie
Penny, from low to high last week
NEOM "popped" +40%.
The charts predicted that. You saw it here many times.
We are closing higher today than we opened on Monday of last week, by around 10%.
That is UP.
Like you and others have been saying, stocks go up and down.
Traders make profit on every swing.
+40% in a week last week, nothing to sneeze at.
Longs are enjoying a nice long slow overall rise over the last 12 months or 6 months, while NEOM builds its future.
Where do you get your "oh yeah it went down"?
I haven't seen anyone more negative than you lately, on any stock, short of someone who is a basher. JMO
jonesie
Penny, proven wrong where?
Please cite instances since you are keeping track.
Charts predicted drops and buy points, sell points, support, resistance. What more would you want?

It didn't work that time but thanks for trying, I'll check it again in the morning, I'd love to see that.
Just to see how quickly I could do it, I scanned for some stocks in the $1-$20 range a few min's ago. Came up with 80, scan criteria was PPS between $1 and $20, 10% or better price appreciation in the last 52 weeks, PEG < or = 1.0, just for the heck of it.
Scanned those 80 for W%R(9) crossing 50 today, came up with two, HWK & AKS.
goosemeister, same here.
I prefer the leverage with the $1-$20 stocks myself, although I suppose a % gain is a % gain whether it's on 5000 or 50 shares. I would find it hard to average in with 3 buys if I was having to split up 50 shares though lol.
I need to get more stocks into my watch lists/data sources I suppose. I've got about 600 in there now which have all been manually entered over time, and a big chunk of them are IBD 100-, WealthLab 100-, Naz 100-types and a bunch of oil and gas stocks, all of which have tended to get pricey lately.
Perhaps I should do a scan in Fidelity to find a group of stocks between $1 and $20 that meet some basic criteria, then see if I can output that as a text file with no delimiting so I could just copy/paste it into a WealthLabPro datasource.
If you have a list of stocks that you would like me to include in any scanning I would be glad to add them, especially if they were in the text format of ABC DEFG XYZ with one space and no commas between them.
Until I can get this chartscript to do more things for me, all I'm doing now is scanning for the W%R (9) move above 50 (that's been giving me ~ 15 stocks a day) then manually checking the charts to see if steps 1 and 2 of the Magic Box setup have taken place beforehand. Obviously those "also-rans" did not quite meet that criteria, there were just interesting.
I also wrote a Bollinger Band scan that tells me if any of the stocks in my data sources have touched the lower Bollinger Band (20,2) that day. So I'm trying to work forwards from there and backwards from the W%R chartscript and create one chartscript that looks for the entire sequence of events including the Aroon down moves and the white candle on the day after piercing the BB.
Did you notice how the list of stocks I found after the close yesterday fared today? Not much excitement. One oil/gas stock I found did okay, PQUE, but duh. AEOS absolutely tanked on what must have been a sell the news scenario.
Let me know if you have a list, or what a bulk stockscanning basic criteria should be for adding some $1-$20 stocks to the scan. Meanwhile I'll poke around in Fidelity's stock scans.
jonesie
goosemeister, that's cool, I'll watch for that too.
I'd love to see that linear regression channel (of course I'd have to know what I was looking at, new to me), I've seen you talking about that. Won't post huh? Is that like the channels I manually plot in between upper and lower uptrend or downtrend lines?
I wonder where WYNN fits in, in the Seasonality scheme of things?
regards,
jonesie
Interesting "also-rans" found during scan:
