Good afternoon Ken,
---Possibly I should have emailed this to you, but since I wrote it before adding this note, well, too late ;) ----
I've been working hard on internalizing all the concepts you have put forward.
I'm pretty sure I've got the Magic Box down, although I probably need to enhance my understanding of the other MB setups besides those starting with the Lower BB hit. In fact I have 93 stocks on a spreadsheet from the scans I have run over the last few weeks, all "backtested" and documented as to whether or not there was PPS growth after the MB confirmation. A couple are supported median, if I am understanding that correctly.
Now I'm going back and plugging in whether or not there was a Fairy Square setup (which is easy to understand), and then I'll plug in a Yes/No as to whether there was/is a Knights Crossing (which I haven't even looked at yet, I need to study that one next). I'll probably also enter a Yes/No as to whether or not the Ultimate Indicator setup you described was/is present.
Just for fun and since I subscribe to eIBD, I have plugged in the current IBD "Stock Checkup" rating for each stock as well. It is interesting to see how those that are rated in the "A" range have nearly all had immediate growth beyond 5%, in some cases well beyond, while those rated lower don't do as well. Those rated "E" are usually disasters.
The next things I need to study are your Liquidity and Volatility spreadsheets, and I'll add to my spreadsheet whether or not a stock "passes muster" in those respects.
Oops, almost forgot, I'll be adding a cell for whether or not a stock in the list is "seasonally correct" and I need to spend some time figuring out how to use your tools to tell me that answer.
All in all, by the time I complete this it will be the kind of over-analyzed, spreadsheeted-to-death, make-my-girlfriend's-eyes-glaze-over method which I like to bring to bear in areas like this. The results should be interesting.
Question: Can you point me to where I can find your most thorough description of your Liquidity and Volatility tools? I want to begin incorporating those measures asap.
Obviously I appreciate and respect your work in this area, I am certainly incorporating it into my methods.
regards,
jonesie

Going to become all NAUG sooner or later, I have no idea what they're doing, both symbols are trading the last few days.
These numbers look good ... I think.

Here's one: SHRN, maybe heading for a Magic Box setup intraday today?
(I'm sorry I don't have many penny's or even sub-$1 stocks in my scans, I can't really trade pennies very well. Fidelity does a great job on my commissions on >$1 stocks, but on <$1 stocks they have a hefty surchage per-thousand-shares, makes it non-cost-effective except on "sure things". Got any of those? lol)

Confirming Magic Box with W%R(9) crossing 50 intraday today.
OT: Dr. Worm,
2 things.
I like your signoff, I've used that one before too LOL.
I need to find how to imbed the sound file link like you did in this post.

Chart looking better.
Aroon Down in position. W%R(9) moving up, when it crosses 50 it will bear close watching, maybe even a buy.
Some scan finds:
CIB, lower BB hit, just one to watch.
Magic Box W%R(9) confirmations:
"2.06 X 2.50 MM's smell a run!!!!"
And they're playing both ends today with tiny little "trades" LOL.
A few more from the scans:
Lower BB hit: FLOW, just watching.
Magic Boxes confirmed today: (Marty beat me to MOBL, then there's that strange FSGI.)
Maybe a BB median line Magic Box?
Hi Marty,
Was just about to post MOBL lol, popped out in my scan, good catch.
Here's a STRANGE one for you: FSGI
Why is the bid/ask on NAUG so high?
No trades yet I see. Bid/ask on NAUG representative of some sort of reverse split? A friend of mine is in NWAU and has been telling me to keep an eye on it.

Hi Paul, welcome a"board" ;)
re: "wouldn't it stand to reason that the short interest would have an effect as well"
IMO it certainly does, a potentially huge effect. A positive catalyst could get the PPS moving upward at a rate that could trigger a good bit of short covering, accelerating the upward share price move. Not sure how to plot that though :)
So many things we can't know until it happens, that's why I've been relying more on TA than the fundamentals in between news events for most of my posts over the last year. We can't know how "fundamentally smart" the shorts are, how "fundamentally tough" they are with respect to averaging in more shorted shares as the price goes up, whether they'd cover as fast as they could and wait to short at higher levels, how ready to "get out" some soft-core longs might be which could help the shorts, on and on and on, many factors.
If you think of a way to "plot" the short interest as an indicator on a chart let me know. Maybe some service already has that. I assume you're talking about buyins on that daily short interest website?
best regards,
jonesie
Ken, thanks, that would be nice. I've missed some opps in IIP, just wasn't paying attention, then played one right. Want another good trade in it. Where would you see resistance? Around .56 first? Actually I think IIP could see $2 next year, but I'm not going to do a buy/hold on it.

Gotcha. I hadn't replotted my lower trendline with the 7/29 point, just using other indicators since then. That's a good one though. You do it the same way I do pretty much. I tend to use closing prices mostly myself but it varies, like you say, an art form ;)
Draw a trendline from May '03 through Nov '04 on a 3-year chart. On a lot of other stocks I would not discount that one entirely, but wrt TIV OPUS really changed things, can't imagine what would take TIV down to $6 within their current business scenario.
Aroons:
Aroon An indicator system that can be used to determine whether or not a stock is trending and the strength of its trend. The Aroon Oscillator signals an upward trend when it rises above zero and a downward trend when it falls below zero. The farther away the oscillator is from the zero line, the stronger the trend.
Also:

My Fidelity charting tools don't have Aroons either, I put something in their suggestion box though. I had to subscribe to stockcharts.com to get the Aroons and actually I like their charts a lot ... and they are "postable".
IIP again.
Interesting study in watching Ken's "Ultimate Indicator" setup play out.
IIP
Might be starting to look interesting. Thoughts anyone? (Company supposed to be turning the corner into profitability in the second half of '05.)

I suppose there was a median line Magic Box on this one a while back? Wow.

You can all blame the close on me, I put in for another 7000 shares at .58 with only 10 minutes left on the trading day and I'll be darned if the MM's didn't walk it right down to me.
Sorry, but if your long you know it's going up from here.

LOL, I'm guilty of the same thing sometimes though, just having fun wit' ya :)
jonesie
CHID just can't get over W%R(9) at 50.
Could be doing the same thing it did the week of 8/15, before dropping.
Still watching and waiting for some confirmation of direction. For now the direction looks flat to down, although I see some of your positive indicators, for all I know it's a good "guess" at a buy at this level.
jonesie
LOL jagman,
Top 10 reasons:
10. I haven't figured out the sell indicators yet LOL.
9. It's only recently that I got serious about TA.
8. Had to have somebody to buy my shares much higher.
(jut kidding about #8)
Ran out of reasons.
Actually I was buying much earlier too. Been waiting for what is hopefully the right time to buy more.
Think this is the time?
jonesie
"averaging up"
Certainly there is such a thing, it's my favorite thing to do and something I have the hardest time remembering TO do.
Good luck!
jonesie
LOL Snap Hook, you got it.
Pretty, eh?
Hi Bob, I agree ...
... good support in this area. I was frankly surprised as well at TIV holding up here, someone(s) has tried, and succeeded so far, at drawing a line in the sand. The theories about the float being soaked up a little at a time have as much validity as anything else IMO.
I'd like to see your lower trendline, I don't have one in this area. The psychological support at $10 of course, and the support generated by past support AND resistance in this area.
There's a chart setup that I wouldn't be surprised to see and in fact it could be a very good thing. I've got the lower Bollinger Band (20,2) at ~ $9.59 and I'd love to see a red candle formed there one day, with Aroon Down sitting at 100. Get a white candle the next day, with Aroon Down moving to 87.50, then wait on W%R(9) to cross 50 moving in the direction towards 0 while Aroon Down moves to 75.. That is a really sweet setup presaging strong upward moves on many occasions.
Anyway, that's my 2 cents, as you say NEWS will render all that totally academic ;)
I expect this will be a pretty quiet board LOL, if anybody posts much at all. Like I said, more of an "experiment" than anything else, and it WILL be civil if it's anything. I was serious about "shorts welcome" too, at least experienced, perhaps technically oriented shorts. Learning comes from all corners.
regards
jonesie
nlightn:
Thanks. And in the subsequent post of mine that I am replying to:
"Meanwhile, my chart made me do it."
I got my fav sequence of indicator moves, HAD to buy.
I think the chart looks good. I just questioned the fact that I was "allowed" to buy shares at $2 lol. I can't see bid/ask on these darn .pk stocks, my Level II doesn't work on them, so I'm ALWAYS having to rely on the chart.
regards,
jonesie
doubloon, I agree.
The NR wasn't so great in and of itself IMO but it was indeed a sign that these guys ARE working AND finally telling us about it, even to the point of telling us about walking away from a project. Thanks for the prodding you and others have done in the area of shareholder communication.
I'm comfy with my position here and still have plenty of "dry powder" to apply here as warranted, I'm nowhere near a full allocation for TDYH.
Meanwhile, my chart made me do it. A sequence of indicator movements occurred that triggered my buy, when I ignore them and don't buy the stock of a company that doesn't appear to have anything wrong with it, I'm as likely to be disappointed as not.
jonesie
Sorry guys, TDYH will probably drop now.
Bought some yesterday early and just bought some more at $2.00.
If the MM let me have some at $2 I'd expect he's going to take it lower. What think?
