Not much happening today. ESV is basically flat. RIG is the only driller doing well. Oil is down around 1 1/2 percent, the DOW down 60. ESV had bad news today. They are upping their offer for Rowan. I guess Rowan shareholders didn't like the previous deal
MAAFF .0038 +123%, 36,000 traded.
Less trading. As you guys have noticed, I have not been trading as much. Part of that was the situation I was in money wise, but the other is just me needing a good break. I found that I was basically chained to my brokerage account during trading hours. Either by PC or my phone. This started to get old, especially when taking a trip. Instead of enjoying the things around me and my family, I was always checking my phone. I was making decisions based on whether I could watch my stocks or not.
So with just having ESV and MAAFF, I can for the most part feel okay not continually monitoring the situation.
Another subdued day for ESV and the other oil stocks I follow. It was a good day for the DOW and oil again though. The DOW closed up 123, and oil was up .57%.
ESV closed up 4 cents to $4.52.
Good luck! Maybe this time will be different.
Looks like no $5's, no gap up, just the same ole same ole with this piece of crap. Sorry to see more people lost money on another fake out. This was the worst stock of my life.
Basically yesterday's update is today's. Oil and the stock market had good days, the former actually had a great day, but oil stocks did not do much. Hard to understand, as oil jumped almost 5%, and is now solidly over $50. The DOW was up 91.
ESV was up only 4 cents to $4.48. So it didn't even make up for yesterday's 7 cent loss. The other drillers I follow out performed ESV, but still did not react as well as you would have expected with a 5% gain in oil.
Another good day for oil and the stock market, but not so much for oil drilling stocks. At least the four I follow. Oil was up 2.45%, and is just below $50 a barrel now. The DOW was up 256.
Initially the oil stocks I follow were having a very good day, but then after the first hour they started to drop off quite a bit. Most were close to flat on a day when they should have been up decently.
ESV closed down 7 cents to $4.44, but was has high as $4.68 in the first hour. Here are how the four oil stocks I follow did:
ESV: -1.55%
NE: 0%
DO: +0.27%
RIG: +1.69%
Another good day for oil, oil stocks, and the stock market. Oil closed up 1.36%, and the DOW closed up 98.
ESV closed up .33 to $4.51. That was the HOD. The gain was close to 8%, but was still not as good as RIG and NE did (8.66% and 9.51%, respectively). DO lagged way behind at +3.33%.
Back on December 14, I sold out of SAEX at $2.80, and bought ESV at $4.10 and $4.01. Right now that looks like a good move. SAEX closed at $2.15 today.
Nice job!! Great trade.
Another good day for oil and oil stocks. That is 3 in a row now. The stock market had a really great day, with the DOW closing up 746 and the NASDAQ up 275.
ESV closed up .29 to $4.18, which was the HOD. This is the highest the stock has closed since December 13th. Starting on December 4th, ESV did not have a positive day for 14 straight trading sessions. The close on December 3rd was $6.15. So we have a long way to go here. Hopefully, it can generate more than just 3 positive days in a row.
Thanks, my average is around $5.30.
Okay, I guess you just stuck with your original purchase then. Glad you held. You are up nicely now. $RIG
$7.55 in premarket now. Did you ever average down?
Another good day for oil stocks and ESV. Not so good for other stocks. The DOW was down 660 and the NASDAQ was down 202. A lot of that was caused by Apple saying sales will be lower than expected next quarter.
Oil was up about 1.3%. This is the first time in a while I have seen a divergence between oil & oil stocks and the stock market.
ESV closed up .16 to $3.89. HOD was $4.00. It was nice to see that mark again. Here are the percentages increases from the oil stocks I follow:
ESV: +4.29%
RIG: +1.40%
DO: +6.78%
NE: +.73%
Kind of a make up day for ESV, as it closed a penny higher than where it did on Friday the 28th. New Year's Eve day was not a good day for it.
Today, the DOW was up 19, and oil was up around 2.7%. ESV closed up .17 to $3.73. That was a gain of 4.8%.
Yeah, they can.
Thanks Marilyn! Looks like it is not starting on the right foot though Maybe it will turn around some time today.
Which big ones?
Good day today. All the oil stocks I follow were green, and so was oil (up 1.2%). The DOW was down 76 points. That kept those oil stocks away from their HOD, but not from being green.
RIG and ESV led the way, both up around 4 1/2%. The other ones I follow were up around 2%. It was surprising that ESV kept up with RIG, since RIG announced a $830 million contract win from Chevron this morning.
ESV closed up .16 to $3.72. The HOD was $3.78, which was better than it's $3.75 HOD made when it had that big surge on Wednesday. Next resistance is $4.01.
I will not be online on New Years Eve Day (Monday), so I will wish all of you a Happy New Year now. See you all next year
Wild day today on Wall Street. The DOW and oil started off bad and got worse. However, the DOW recovered big in the final hour, and closed up 258 points (it had been down as much as 600). So in the end it did have a little follow through from yesterday. Unfortunately, oil did not recover the same way, and ended down 1.8%. All of the oil stocks I follow also ended down, but did pare their losses quite a bit.
ESV was yesterday's best performer on the upswing, today it was the worst performer. See comparison below:
ESV: Yesterday +14.37%, Today -4.81%
NE: Yesterday +13.92%, Today -1.48%
RIG: Yesterday +10.09%, Today -3.87%
DO: Yesterday +6.14%, Today -.93%
So over two days, NE was the best performer by a decent amount.
ESV closed down .18 to $3.56 on the day.
Merry Christmas! What a nice day. Finally. The DOW closed up a record 1,086 points, and oil jumped 8.6%.
Of course I was not here to report on Monday's action, which was terrible. I added yet another $1,000 to my account that day, since anything below $3.60 meant I stayed in a margin call, and ESV closed at $3.27 that day (another new 52-week low). Despite that $1,000 add, I was still $50 in a margin call on Christmas day.
This morning seemed like it would be the same old same old. ESV, NE, and RIG all made new 52-week lows. ESV's new 52-week low is now $3.19. But then the market and oil rallied big.
ESV closed up .47 to $3.74! Really nice rebound. Would love to see it go over $4 tomorrow. Below are the percentage increases on the oil stocks I follow for today:
ESV: +14.37%
NE: +13.92%
RIG: +10.09%
DO: +6.14%
Well, the reversal did not hold up. After being up almost 300, the DOW closed down 416 points. Oil had been positive, but closed down 1.2%. The oil drillers were mixed:
ESV: +1.81%
DO: +2.45%
NE: -.4%
RIG: -2.26%
As you can see RIG performed the worst, after performing the best yesterday. It also made a new 52-week low today. DO, also made a new 52-week low, but ended up performing the best today.
ESV closed up 6 cents to $3.37. It tested it's 52-week low ($3.28) early in the morning but held. It got as high as $3.59 today.
My margin call now sits at $750. Hopefully, we get a good day on Monday, and that gets erased. Trading ends at 1pm ET that day. I may or may not be online. If not, I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas.
Nice reversal going on now. DOW up almost 300, oil drillers doing well. Hopefully, this can keep up for the rest of the day.
It looks like both ESV and NE received downgrades yesterday morning. Both were from Societe Generale and moved them from a buy to a hold. I don't know how much influence they have, but both ESV and NE were down more percentage wise than DO and RIG yesterday.
I hope this ends up being one of the worst analysts calls ever ESV closed at $3.68 the day before the downgrade.
Initial market read not good at the moment. Stock futures and oil down. Hopefully, we see a rally later in the morning.
Thanks, same to you. I think that’s a good one to get in the sector. It seemed to hold up better than the others today.
Another bad day on Wall Street and for oil. Oil was down over 4%, and the DOW closed down 468 points.
All the oil stocks I followed went even lower than the 52-week lows I mentioned earlier in the day. Most closed near the LOD.
ESV closed down .37 to $3.31. LOD was $3.28.
At the end of yesterday, with my $1,000 deposit, I was out of my call. Tomorrow I will be in another one. At this moment it looks like it will be for $930. Hopefully, we get a rebound tomorrow. All of these oil stocks are way oversold and at 52-week lows. ESV is at an all time low.
Oil down big again today. More than 3%. All of the drillers I follow, including mine, have made new 52-week lows today (ESV, NE, DO, RIG).
Yesterday, may have been capitulation for oil, as it rallied 3.7% today. Unfortunately, after the fed news, stocks took a royal dive, and all the oil drillers decided to follow the stock market instead of the price of oil. The opposite of yesterday. All the drillers I follow were red. The DOW closed down 352 points.
At one point ESV hit $4.01, and for most of the day traded in the $3.90's. I was out of my margin call at that point. After the fed announcement, that went to hell.
ESV closed down .09 to $3.68. It got as low as $3.60, which at least was above it's 52-week low ($3.56). My margin call has grown from $550 to $820. I went ahead and added another $1,000 to hopefully finally take care of this.
Oil capitulation today?? Oil was down over 7% today. That is the most I have ever seen in one day. The DOW was up 83, but oil ruled the day for my interests.
Again, all 4 oil stocks I follow made new 52-week lows today. Here is the percentage run down:
ESV: -4.31%
DO: -3.94%
NE: -3.27%
RIG: -2.19%
As you can see mine was the worst of the bunch
ESV closed down .17 to $3.77. It went as low as $3.57.
As you may have guessed, since below $4 put me in a decent margin call, falling another 17 cents only made that worse. I am moving another $1,000 in, but that will not cover all of it. That still leaves $550 left to cover. ESV has been falling essentially since November 29th. A bounce is way overdue. The RSI is at 20.76. Well below 30.
Another bad day for stocks and oil. The DOW ended down over 500 points, and oil was down over 4%. It closed below $50 a barrel. Not good. As you can expect, all of the drillers that I follow, including my ESV, made new 52-week lows again today.
Here are the closing percentages down:
ESV: -3.19%
NE: -4.97%
RIG: -3.31%
DO: -1.84%
ESV closed down .13 to $3.94. While 13 cents is not a lot, I will be in a deep margin call tomorrow because it closed below $4. Hopefully, it can get back above that in the next 2-3 days.
Added more ESV at $4.01. It hit $4.00, another new 52-week low.
No, no social media. Thanks though
Another rough day, with the DOW down 500, and oil down 3%. All of the oil stocks I follow made new 52-week lows today. That includes SAEX, which I sold, but hit $2.68 today for a new 52-week low. Here is a run down of the drillers I follow today:
ESV: -8.13%
NE: -6.12%
DO: -5.32%
RIG: -6.56%
As you can see ESV performed the worst again. All 4 of those made new 52-week lows today.
ESV closed at $4.07, down .36. The 52-week low and LOD was $4.06.
Hopefully, these 52-week lows on the oil stocks mean we are getting close to a bottom.
That's it, have a good weekend everyone.
Dumped the rest of my SAEX around $2.80. Bought 500 more ESV at $4.105. The 52-week low is $4.10.
Another red day here, despite the DOW up 70, an oil up 3.56%. That is a healthy rise for oil, yet all of the drillers I follow were down. Unfortunately, ESV performed the worst of all of them. Could be due to that downgrade on Tuesday.
ESV closed down .25 to $4.43, and was as low as $4.32. The 52-week low is $4.10. Here are the percentage drops for the oil drillers I follow:
ESV -5.34%
NE -4.99%
DO -3.45%
RIG -1%
SAEX traded in an even more narrow range today than yesterday. The high was $3.0752 and the low was $2.92. No new 52-week low was made today. It closed at $2.97, down 5 cents.
Another one of those days where oil and the stock market were flying high in the morning, but petered out in the afternoon.
Oil was up 4% in the morning, but closed down 1%. The DOW was up 400 at one point, but closed up only 157 points.
ESV followed the price of oil, as it got as high as $4.92, but closed down 7 cents to $4.68.
SAEX traded in a relatively narrow range, and did not really follow the market or oil. It also made a new 52-week low at $2.87. It closed down .10 to $3.02. This has to be the worst trade I have ever made. Unless somehow it rallies back above $10.
The DOW closed down 53 and oil closed up 1.4%. The DOW was all over the place today.
ESV closed unchanged at $4.75, despite the downgrade.
SAEX closed down .23 to $3.12.
Due to my trades today, I am no longer in a margin call.
Sold 1000 out of 2500 shares of SAEX at $3.07 and $3.08. Bought 500 more ESV at $4.65.
