Dear Johnny,
The stock is doing a forward split tomorrow night. 9 to one if I recall correctly. The stock will surge a bit more tomorrow and I imagine it's a great time to unload your shares finally. Thanks for all the emails though. Good luck on the dump.
Thanks for the tip.

UA: Serf, when you can- I could use some help on UA. I'm considering building a position for the long haul and don't know if I should expect some large dips and swings anytime soon. Company seems to be amazing, as per my experience this summer. They were everywhere. All entries are great (imho) in this company- I'd just like to save a few bucks here and there if they're going on sale soon. :)
Can you check the bollie alley for me?

I'm always Nice ... I just don't ...
Think people who have an organized, premeditated
Bash Jam Fest while holding the same Stock in a
different light on their Website is Kosher.
Way too "Over The Top" in my Book.
It's got nothing to do with FCCN
specifically, or Peacock or whatever.
It's got to do with Bashing one place while on
a Public Website Posting something different.
Irrational Exuberance, either Pro or Con,
in the Penny Stocks is forgiven ...
Organized, Premeditated Manipulation IS NOT!
And, yes ... a Complaint WAS SENT IN.
I warned people here the other night about
their "IRONIC, VERY INTERESTING WEBSITE"
in a subtle way. They just kept at it.
So ...
Did you edit your very long post or am I seeing things???
Oh sure Tiki. I say bring it on. Folks love to have their stocks under investigation. I hear it does wonder for the price.
PS- See why I play big boards?
Actually Tina, all of the stocks listed under "chart plays"
are strictly for technical value and created by a very
well known ihub chartist.
The stocks-to-watch section values fundies and tech,
and well the daily news plays are simply bullish news that
we've noted from the thousands of press pieces each morning.
During the jam we said that the ticker had some t/a strength
and f/a weakness. The truth hurts sometimes though.
It's hard to find a perfect combo. I try, as we all do-
and if they were all perfect- none of us would have time for ihub. :)
You're definition of bashing is "very interesting" as well.
Sorry you don't approve of discussions on non-stock specific boards. We supported our discussion with direct links and files.
Your complaint was a safeguard. Heck, if any stock site was
intentionally manipulating a stock I would suggest the same route.
Good luck with your complaint. I guess I'll be hearing your real name around the water cooler very soon. :)

"paid promoters should not be mods of "stock specific boards" cause there is no way you can determine if there is a conflict of interest cause you have no clue what the company has asked the promotor to do and how he should do it."
To be perfectly honest- you can use the pumpers to your advantage in the pink/otcbb. The more they pump or run the stock- the more chance you have of selling. Go with the flow.
If a mod is lying about a material fact, you have the SEC and pinksheets.com as well as many other resources for your due diligence.
There are a lot of non-stock-specific boards at ihub to discuss companies openly and with links for documentation or research.
The bottom line is that these boards are "for entertainment purposes only" and although a disclaimer on paid promoters would be helpful (and legal) it's not easily enforced.
Since the mods are usually shareholders anyhow, is it a conflict of interest or a shared interest? Paid promoter or not, there are some that don't want to hear anything negative about the future of their money. On the other hand, there
are some very good and fair mods out there as well.
Perhaps start a board where you are the mod by yourself?
Just a thought,

Honestly, SUNW has always been a great swinger,
and until you brought it up tonight (I've been somewhat absent the past few months) I hadn't any idea about the
JAVA and ticker change. *(thanks by the way)
It sounds exciting and appealing and fwiw, pretty big. It's up a bit a/hours and had a steady little day today. I see it picking up steam again tomorrow (if you're going for a short play) as it hit at the end of the day.
Longer hold? Let's see the deals. A great company doesn't have a great entry.........every entry will be considered great.
My two cents and GLTY

The Rise of JAVA - The Retirement of SUNW
Thursday August 23, 12:00 pm ET
By Jonathan Schwartz
I've spoken before about the value of brand - this post is a good example. And I wanted to follow up with a few more thoughts, and an important shift in how Sun (NasdaqGS: SUNW - News) presents itself to the world - and more importantly, how the world now presents itself to Sun.
Sun is blessed to have built two of the best known brands on the internet. The Java brand, and OpenOffice (and its cousin, StarOffice).
Presumably, you saw the relationship we just announced with Google (NasdaqGS: GOOG - News), in which they'll be distributing StarOffice for free as a part of their Google Pack offerings - to put this in context, we're now distributing multiple millions of copies of OpenOffice every week (and that's before you count mirror distribution sites). The combined volumes of StarOffice and OpenOffice generate a user and developer community now accelerating well past a hundred million users - across developing economies, developing companies, and across Windows, Solaris, Linux and the Mac OS. As a software product and a brand (all end user software is ultimately both, after all), growing distribution drives opportunity and awareness for everyone involved - for the OpenOffice/StarOffice user and developer community, and as its shepherd on the network, for Sun.
Wherever OpenOffice and StarOffice travel, more users know and trust Sun - what's that brand or awareness worth, especially among tomorrow's decision makers? It's hard to know exactly, but I'd bet more people know Sun via OpenOffice than know us through datatcenters. That's an astonishing assertion, but with the internet now reaching billions of end users, the number of consumers on the internet dwarfs the number of IT professionals. The numbers are staggering.
But with that said, compared to the Java platform, office productivity is relatively esoteric stuff.
Because Java touches nearly everyone - everyone - who touches the internet. Hundreds of millions of users see Java, and its ubiquitous logo, every day. On PC's, mobile phones, game consoles - you name it, wherever the network travels, the odds are good Java's powering a portion of the experience.
What's that distribution and awareness worth to us? It's hard to say - brands, like employees, aren't expenses, they're investments. Measuring their value is more art than science. But there's no doubt in my mind more people know Java than Sun Microsystems. There's similarly no doubt they know Java more than nearly any other brand on the internet.
I know that sounds audacious, but wherever I travel in the world, I'm reminded of just how broad the opportunity has become, and how pervasively the technology and brand have been deployed. Java truly is everywhere.
Ask a teenager if they know Java, and they'll point to their favorite mobile applications, the video uploader for their social network, or their game console. As for working professionals, I had dinner with a financial analyst a few months ago who said he saw the Java launch experience "a few times a day" when accessing intranet applications - as did tens of thousands of his fellow employees. Daily. Global companies like Google and eBay (and Vodafone and Citigroup) are built on Java, every major PC manufacturer bundles Java upon shipment, as does every mobile phone manufacturer, and tens of millions of developers touch it every day in the world's IT shops. Students learn it to get college credits for computer science, and there are more Java courses on university campuses than we ever imagined. Wherever it goes, Java brings limitless opportunity - to Sun, and to our partners that develop, use or deploy it.
So what's that awareness worth? Ask the question a different way - if we wanted to buy that exposure, to touch tens if not hundreds of millions of consumers every single day of the year, across nearly every continent, industry, geography and demographic - what would it cost us? (If you're in the industry, just do the CPM calculus - the Java launch experience is one of the most pervasively viewed exposures on earth.)
As I said, the number of people who know Java swamps the number of people who know Sun. Or SUNW, the symbol under which Sun Microsystems, Inc. equity is traded on the NASDAQ stock exchange. SUNW certainly has some nostalgic value - it stands for "Stanford University Network Workstation," and heralds back to Sun's cherished roots (in academia). Granted, lots of folks on Wall Street know SUNW, given its status as among the most highly traded stocks in the world (the SUNW symbol shows up daily in the listings of most highly traded securities).
But SUNW represents the past, and its not without a nostalgic nod that we've decided to look ahead.
JAVA is a technology whose value is near infinite to the internet, and a brand that's inseparably a part of Sun (and our profitability). And so next week, we're going to embrace that reality by changing our trading symbol, from SUNW to JAVA. This is a big change for us, capitalizing on the extraordinary affinity our teams have invested to build, introducing Sun to new investors, developers and consumers. Most know Java, few know Sun - we can bring the two one step closer.
To be very clear, this isn't about changing the company name or focus - we are Sun, we are a systems company, and we will always be a derivative of the students that created us, Stanford University Network is here to stay. But we are no longer simply a workstation company, nor a company whose products can be limited by one category - and Java does a better job of capturing exactly that sentiment than any other four letter symbol. Java means limitless opportunity - for our software, systems, storage, service and microelectronics businesses. And for the open source communities we shepherd. What a perfect ticker.
And if you wondered why we picked eight strokes for the Java logo, now you know one reason...

Some of this may be old, but for what it's worth.
Reminders for myself, in no particular order. Some of the lines are mine, many are gleaned from others.
BEFORE buying, use the TGL checklist, or make your own DD checklist, and follow it!
Learn some money management/allocation. The only sure way I know of, for guaranteeing you will be able to trade tomorrow..........is having CASH available to do so. Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
Don't chase it up. Get it, when it drops back, simply because, THEY ALWAYS DROP BACK, they HAVE to, it is just part of the mechanics of the market maker system, and of course, the inevitable profit taking, and if you aren't taking profits relentlessly, then what the hell are you doing here?
In my humble but useless opinion, the open, and the first 1/2 hour or more, are for SELLING, not buying. Be patient. If it's a gapper and you are not in yet, don't be the bozo giving the gifts to those in the day before. WAIT!
Market order?? It just ain't in my vocabulary. Unless you enjoy getting hosed.
If you have not read books on how the MM system works, I suggest that you do so, ASAP. "The Electronic Day Trader" is a decent one.
If you haven't already, learn at least some rudimentary T/A Go to http://www.clearstation.com to the education section also Big Charts. http://www.bigcharts.com and learn to set up the interactive charts.
A great site, with a learning area, simulators, and much more, is http://www.rookiedaytrader.com
Control greed, learn discipline, set reasonable targets, and stick to them. Ya right, if it breaks xxx it's gone, sure Jim, sure...
ALWAYS reduce risk/reward at the first opportunity. That may mean selling 1/3 or 1/2 a long way from the top, but I'd rather protect my investment, and live to play again, than just slowly let the original pile erode.
A profitable trade, is a good trade.
Get out, when you CAN, not when you HAVE to.
Stocks move in the path of least resistance. If it is hard to buy, it is going higher, if it's hard to sell, oooops it may be too late, and you're a STUCKHOLDER
When you have what you want, take it and run, and don't look back. Don't wait, for the market to take it back.
NEVER let a winner, turn into a loser. But we all do, why? Think about it, one answer, always....GREED!
NOBODY wins all the time. Learn to take your losses, EARLY, don't let them grow, until it's too late.
A big gap up, in the morning, is a gift, ACCEPT ALL GIFTS. Sell into strength. Then buy it back later, on a shake or walkdown if you wish.
MM's biggest trick - making stocks look their best, before they make them move.... in the opposite direction.
Over time, there is only one thing that always works, and that is, dance with what the market likes and make sure you are dancing close to the door.
Volume precedes price.
As long as there is volume, and volatility, $$ can be made, bear or bull.
Timing - all stocks go up eventually, but all stocks also go down, eventually. If you are jumping on those with news, playing the momo's, etc.

Before you buy an OTC penny stock:
Posted by: lady*b
In reply to: None Date:12/4/2005 11:33:57 PM
Post #of 249
Found this on another board, and thought it would suit the strategies here...
BEFORE YOU BUY AN OTC PENNY STOCK
There are several key areas to look at when doing DD on an Over-the-counter pennystock. And it doesn't even include looking at the financial information.. . that is the least important thing to look at.
Share structure and distribution is the FIRST place our eyes should go when looking at an OTC stock. Don't even READ the news until you know whether or not 5 million shares were sold at .005 to a company in the Cayman Islands.
If so, you can rest assured that there will be heavy selling on any run up, as each new buy is met with an insider sell. And the stock will probably then get heavily shorted near the top. . and driven down to nothing. . and I do mean NOTHING.
And if the company does not report their financials to the SEC. . .RUN AWAY. Don't even consider them, because they will surely rip you off any way that they can. And if they SAY that they will soon be reporting their "audited" financials. . .run even faster. . .this means they have NO INTENTION of filing with the SEC. And even if they say "we will be filing with the SEC" or even "we HAVE submitted our financials to the SEC." DON'T BELIEVE THEM.
MDCE put out a half dozen press releases telling shareholders that they filed their financials with the SEC. . .but somehow. . .as if by magic. . .they have never appeared on the Edgars.
This stuff is the BASICS of penny trading.
SECOND, look at the HISTORY of the stock. . .was there a reverse split or reverse merger in its past? If so, there will probably be more problems or more reverse splits in the future. How long has the company been in business? It is one thing for a company to come up with an idea. . .it is CLEARLY another for same company to figure out a way to successfully market that product or service. . . and it is another thing yet, for the company to properly manage their money.
Take down the names of the officers of the companies, the investor relations people or firm and any other important parties. . .and do a "entire website" search at the SEC. This is not an Edgar search. . and can be found on the main page of the SEC, which EVERY penny trader should know very well. If your party comes up in the search, you can know their history. . if not, it does not mean they are "clear". . .they still could be under investigation or have played a smaller role in other scams, etc. . . .or just have never been caught. Be UN-trusting as a defense to loss and you will increase your chance at gains.
The easy way to do searches on SEC is to use "adj" between names like
John Smith. . ."john adj smith" . . if it is an odd last name, it should be fine by itself. . "stephanapolous" or "gianapolitana" or "santodominguez" etc. . .otherwise use adj on firm names like "La Jolla adj Capital" or "La adj Jolla adj Capital" . . this will keep the thousands of uses of "capital" or the city "La Jolla" from coming up in the search. It means literally adjacent" words.
THIRD, read the press releases with a cynical eye. . . if they say that the industry is reported to generate 14 billion in revenues each year and we estimate that our revenues in the coming year will be between 40 million and 60 million dollars. . .. RUN away.
If there is no LOGICAL and detailed explanation of HOW the company plans to make ANY money. . .then they don't. . . they just plan to sell shares. . to you? . . hopefully NO. . to the suckers that don't have a clue what they are doing. ANY reports of "projected" revenues should be based on PRIOR performance. . .if not, it is just a pie-in-the-sky arbitrary number picked out to make them look good to prospective penny traders.
If the company headquarters is in Vancouver, Boca Raton, La Jolla, Denver or Las Vegas. . . . RUN AWAY. There is an old saying in the record biz, where thousands of demo tapes are sent every week. . . "if we reject 100 percent of those wanting a record deal, we will be correct in our decision 99 percent of the time. . .and that ain't bad"
By catagorically denying ANY company hailing from these cities, thus rejecting 100 percent of them. . .we will be correct in our decision 99 percent of the time. And that is not bad.
Other suspect cities, which would require EXTENSIVE DD to justify, include New York City, Dallas, Houston, Palm Springs or other cities of the Coachella Valley, Ft. Lauderdale or other cities in South Florida, any city in Nevada, ANY city in Canada where everyone can short-sell penny stocks, any other "resort" city. . .
If Gucci has a store there. . .then chances are your company does not operate a 50,000 square foot building in the same town. . but rather is just one of many operations out of a small office there.
FOURTH. .INVESTIGATE. . . A good way to find out about the company? CALL THEM. NO, I don't mean to call the number they provide you. . .I mean call the local area directory assistance and ask for the company name. . . I have even gone as far as asked for the numbers of each of the officers of suspect companies, only to find that NOBODY had a listed number. . not even the company.
If the company has an unlisted number. . .think about it. . their customers or clients will not be able to find them. . they are absolutely bogus. If the CEO or his wife answers. .or there is a baby crying in the background. . .guess what? The company is being run out of the kitchen table of a house, and they want your money. . .why?
There are bills that need paid, that's why.
Another good trick, is to offer to visit the company headquarters on
short notice. . .say something like I will be in town first thing in the morning and would like directions to the company headquarters, so you can report back to your thread on Silicon Investor. . .yes they all read our threads.
If they say the company is moving, under construction or give ANY reason whatsoever for not allowing you there. . . you have your answer. . they are bogus. .don't believe them. . .if they offer to meet you elsewhere or to guide you in. . . decline and say, you may be late and insist on getting precise directions to the company headquarters. You will be amazed at the number of companies that will refuse to tell you.
If you are still interested in the company at this point. . .then you must ask yourself how much you are willing to lose. . . if you are "investing" 2,000 or more dollars, then go to Southwest Airlines website on a Tuesday thru Thursday and book a 33 to 99 dollar "internet special" flight there and go and see them for yourself. For just a same day trip. . or overnight if you feel adventurous. . .for just a few hundred bucks. . you can get a first hand account of where your money is going.
If they sell goods. . .you want to see the warehouse, shipping, receiving department. . .it should be impressive. . even if it is tiny. . if they sell services. . you want to see the laborers performing these services. . .if the company is nothing more than a small office with no laborers, because they "farm out" or their workers work "out of their homes" . . .RUN away. That is a lie. . the company is in business just to sell shares. In which case, be sure to note the leather interior of the CEO's car. . because that is what your 2,000 bucks bought.
Note the name or names on the door. Instead of the company name, does it say "capital.. .equity. . .investor. . .relations. . .financial". . etc??? Do
you know why? Because they operate NUMEROUS companies from the same office. . . in which case, your presence is not only NOT WANTED. . .it is threatening to their livelyhood.
If that is the case, I would not bother to even enter, as it may be a potentially dangerous or threatening situation. . . I would turn around and never look back.
But here is the part of penny trading that is the most important of all.. .and what I expect from each of us here on the fishing thread. . . when you have information about these companies like that described above. . and someone else is getting suckered into the same company. . . have the decency to tell them.
You don't need to go on the thread and tell eveyone they are invested in a bogus company. . .chances are good that they have already figured that out. . . but in the course of daily discussion, when the name pops up. . and you can shed some light. . do not hold back.
If they were unlisted. . say so. . if they have convertible debentures from an offshore placement. . say so. . .if there was a 1 for 100 reverse split a year ago. . .say so . . etc etc etc.
Not every company on the OTC or the Nasdaq is bogus.. . . but as I said on the Scammy Awards:
Welcome to the Over-The-Counter market of Electronic Bulletin Board and Pink Sheet stocks.
Out of 100,000 issues,
90,000 are scammys
9,000 are clueless
900 are really trying
Leaving 100 that are worth buying.
