It would make sense, although I feel there will also be a connection to Addax as well.
Umbra, is that only your opinion? Thanks.eom
Red Jerseys? EOM
YOU go girl!! eom
FTC-anything is possible, but w/respect to only taking erhc's rights, very unlikely given the Nigerian influence in the area. It is a thought I have also had; however, I'm just not sure that there is any legitimate linkage b/w the actions of the US DOJ and the recognized treaty b/w stp and erhc. If this were a sports contract I might be looking for some type of morals clause but obviously thats not the case. I would also think that the doctrine of "unclean hands" would come into play as , after all, it was the Sao Tomeans who were on the receiving end of any alleged bribes.
Good point alwright; however, we always seem to have a monkey on our back whenever something good happens. I would expect an upward adjustment in the pps w/announcements of drilling schedules, and actual drilling, and leaks and so forth, but no meteoric rise w/o the legal crap gone.
No possibility, imo, of buy-ins, buy-outs, mergers, reverse mergers, roadshows, etc....till this gets handled. Too much uncertainty. I'm betting that the powers that be know this and are working towards resolution.
All the EEZ, Travoda vs menenzes talk is, for now, irrelevant imo. The only thing that matters is that the co gets this DOJ/SEC business under control. There is nothing more important than this issue right now.
Can anyone pls post a link to watch the World Cup Finals online? At work today and would love to watch. Thanks!!
SPEC-2D only. eom
Balance-this from the Siebert report? EOM
Oh, so you want to be logical. lol eom
so then why are you posting it? eom
You be right. eom
Kobi-I agree w/you, but depending on how extensive the involvment of the involved co, ie, Anandarko, I suppose a future case for "interference w/contract" or "prospective economic advantage" might be made. Remember the Penzoil case-that was what the allegations were. Ultimately, erhc might just have to bite the bullet rather then getting involved in protracted litigation.
Nigerian paper/author--they have mangled numerous stories in the past
Spec-hope yr wrong re rogue judge; but i think you are misinterpreting the language you have high-lighted.
Spec-the law is the law. Precedent was not on our side. eom
I would think that ERHC and their attorneys expected this result. I also feel, however, that the Gov't has been put on notice that ERHC will not roll over and that they are competently represented. Lots of behind the scenes legal stuff to take place.
No more OUCHIES please!! eom
easy $100/share-but I'm still mentally challenged so what do I know.
The bigger and most important issue regarding EEL and Travoda is the fight over the EEZ. Should be a doozy.
Think Canadian markets closed today. eom
or unitization. eom
much appreciated!!
Re: Oliphant post--for those of us mentally challenged investors, could someone please interpret what this means? Gracias from the institution.
Or maybe the PR was in lieu of a shareholders letter. One never knows, now do one?
Doubt it Dadd as imo, APC was very involved in pushing the STP AG's report.
Maestro-nothing has been decided yet. The order you are seeing is just the draft that the gov't sent to the judge w/their response papers. SOP. Will be arguments 1st.
New African E&P JV established
Kalaa Mpinga.
(6/28/2006 - OGI: Cape Town) Mwana Africa and Energy Equity Resources (EER) reported today they have agreed to jointly seek and develop African oil and gas exploration and production assets.
The joint venture is currently pursuing minority interests in five assets, with two of them in Angola, a production operation and an exploration project. They mark an important first step in Mwana's entry into the African oil and gas sector and potentially broaden the geographic spread of Mwana's business to include Angola in addition to its existing activities in DR Congo, Ghana, and Zimbabwe.
Energy Equity Resources has exploration and production interests worldwide with a particular focus in Nigeria, Angola, Gabon, Mauritania, Sudan, Sao Tome and Principe, Equatorial Guinea, and Libya.
Kalaa Mpinga, Mwana's CEO, said, "We encounter significant opportunities in the African oil and gas sector and therefore are pleased to be entering this market with such high quality partners as Energy Equity Resources. Together we believe we have the right technical and management skills to create substantial value for shareholders, and this once again underlines the interest of potential partners in working with Mwana. This move is consistent with our strategy of exploiting opportunities across different countries and resources, and also of being the preferred vehicle for African entrepreneurs. This move both adds significant breadth to our portfolio and enhances our capabilities as we develop into a major resource group on the African continent."
Rheddle--I agree with you that most investors believe that the Gov't case, if you can even call it a case, is weak. If it were otherwise, we would be in the .20's easy. Just to keep it real though, we won't really know about what the gov't has till the affidavit is released. We all know about the $100k, the college scholarships, and some shareholders being in the STP gov't, or atleast were at one time. Lets hope that is the extent of it and there isn't more that we don't know. Personally, I feel that if there was anything truly significant, there would have been alot more selling then we have seen.
And Maestro, w/all due respect, this is, imo, about the STP AG's report.
no. eom
Well done Rocky and thank you Dadd. Keep up the good work both of you.
Not suprised. Makes sense not only due to investors getting involved but just to be able to resume their normal usiness. Would have thought they would seek some type of emergency relief from the ct.
Don't think for a minute that the Chinese don't have some play in them despite our economic relationships. Just think Taiwan. All IMHO of course Mr. K.
Of course not. Hoping it happens on the diplomatic front. Don't need another cold war.
Umbra-I think you brought up a very valid point. Bottom line is we live in a very complex world and policy decisions often have major geo-political implications and ramifications. The Chinese will be pissed if we step up our naval presence in the GOG but I also have to believe it will not come as a suprise to them either.
Confrontation with China, not necessarily military, is and has been inevitable.
Rocky-my take is that a 6/29 hearing date has been set to hear ERHC's motion. If the US isn't ready to proceed on that date, they will ask the court for a continuance, ie, postponement while they are preparing their response. I would be very suprised if the hearing does take place on the 29th.
Rocky-The calender should state "oral arguments" for motion to.... The court clerk can usually answer these questions
Art-Gotta remember though that the STP AG apparently formaly requested an investigation and set the wheels in motion. Just cause the 2 countries later disavowed the report wasn't enough to call off the hounds from doing what they do best.
