I don't think Petty is part of it. It's not like they don't have other investments. Hedging is a smart move.
If you were around during the dotcom boom... remember ePets? CEO used to brag he never sold a share. That was good for a while then his shares were worth nothing. Locking in a gain is always smart.
Hindsight after doing the opposite of how it plays out... that's when it hurts.
Most people, if given 8 Million shares before an event that could drag out causing share price to drop, would sell 30-50%, Perhaps looking to re-enter a little lower if the opportunity presents itself.
Those who are more risk adverse, might sell more than that. Better to take something now and leave something for later. Selling all doesn't make much sense. Selling some is 'Hedging'.
Now, mix in Hudson who is pissed at WDDDs for canceling their financing deal. They want to hurt them and are doing so.... short term. Like most bullies with their eye on the short term... they are giving away their future. WDDDs current share price is a gift.
Think of them in terms as being Long Term Option Contracts. Pennies now, if/when successful, dollars returned to you later.
Rarely have I seen such a potential return with such little cost by the company to keep moving forward. Susman is footing the bill.
Kidrin (CEO) has created the most exciting scenario I've seen in more than 20 years of investing. Will it be 100% successful? What venture can promise that? If it could, it wouldn't be trading at these prices. But for those who are brave, there is a great potential for success and with amazing returns but don't take my word for it, look at Susman. They believe so much they are paying the legal bills for a cut of the profits and Patent Litigation is what they do... and very well. Just Google them.
Art,
I don't know your experience with settlements but I have plenty. Who said anything about letting them off easy? Going to trial is one of the best threats that Susman has to use to get a very nice settlement out of ATVI. ATVI I'm certain, will try it's best to settle to avoid the nasty display of their actions over the years towards WDDDs. If they are smart, they may overpay to keep details private. Afterall, they are in the media/show business arena and this will look bad for them.
And Susman? Well... they have more fish to fry after this settles.
Art,
of course I meant after the Markman... that's what we've all been waiting for.
ATVI has a history of settling at the courthouse steps and with Treble damages at stake... it would be wise for them to do so... so I stand my ground but thanks for your input.
A reverse split would cost money to do. This won't happen until there is money to spend. Kidrin has been very good about that.
Also, I doubt they want to shrink the float as much as it would take at these levels.
Remember, your % ownership of the company does not change with a reverse split. The purpose of doing this would be to attract investors who can't/won't buy at these prices or on this low of an exchange. Increased pool of investors, more liquidity mean higher share price. These are all positive.
Friday Oct 3rd, 2014 was Markman.
This Friday April 3rd, 2015 is 6 months.
I think we may have News this Friday... but then I've been wrong so far.
GLTALs
They could Settle at any time. I put a window of time that I believe the parties will come together and accept a Settlement. It could be tomorrow or any day. I just see it happening within the 18 months.
As I see it... VRNG will have a Settlement by April 6th with DLINK, then we will see some purchases by Management and the Stock will rally.
Then of course... we have all the other events forthcoming.
GLTALs
Lao5023,
Thanks.
Kidrin has big plans... last time he got ahead of himself and that is how we ended up with Hudson...trying to ready the ship, he moved forward thinking Markman was in sight which got pushed out by the MSJ which killed everything... but Kidrin did move quickly to repay Hudson and limit the damage.
Hudson did look better back then... they had still been doing some good. I believe VRNG recommended them. seekingalpha.com/article/1430611-hudson-bays-inflection-point-trading-system
This time around... I think Kidrin has the experience to get this done right. He wants (or at least wanted to) upgrade to a better exchange and get some financing done (properly).
I would expect he has been using this time getting things lined up with a successful Markman being the catalyst. I believe this was why he wanted to settle with Hudson quickly to allow another finance co to step in which Hudson was preventing. Kidrin has always been a good steward for the co. Keeping costs low and respecting shareholders.
I think we pop up to a min .65 on a successful Markman... we may even run to a $1.00+/share. One draw back may be 'over-committed' Longs lightening positions but Hot Money could take this up quickly just on momentum. The money at stake here and the low valuation make this very attractive. A successful Markman is the last 'big' hurdle for Kidrin's plans... after that is cleared... it's all Susman.
I would be shocked if after we ever see below .45/share again. Actually, I think Sub .55 would be rare but then... in life whenever we expect something... :)
I realize we are all focusing on Hudson Bay selling a good amount of their position because with the lack of news... there isn't much else to talk about except the 'depressed' share price.
In the end... it really doesn't mean anything to any of us and here's why.
1) We have no idea why they are selling... really we don't. We can only speculate. They may have set up a deal with another company to mimic the warrants they gave up to get these shares. Yes, just like Vegas, there are many groups who would take these odds. Why would they do this? Private Options; Puts and Calls.
Hudson will most likely keep 30-50% of the 8 Million ( I think that was the number) of shares they got so they have a good long position then they sell the rest, now they have cash but depending on what they've negotiated, they may have private options to buy at predetermined prices if they hit at specified time frames and they have some cash out of the stock as a prudent move of risk mitigation.
My point... there are many more ways to play stocks than the average retail knows about or has access to. Trying to figure out why someone else is doing what they are... is a waste of time. You'll never really know.
2) DGLY is a great example of why following the movements of a financing co is meaningless. Last Summer (go back and read PRs if you want more insight or just want to kill time ;) ). This guy sold his whole position because the co didn't want to pursue the financing he was pushing... All kinds of trash talk was bantered about.. he pumped the stock and sold out (over a million shares) around $6-7. Then the stock tanked down to the mid- $3s.... Sad story for Longs, right? Wrong. Ferguson, MO happened. If you believed and stayed Long... a Short squeeze then took it over $30s a share... and fast! Maybe this guy tried to punish the share price then bought options... so he could win both ways. Only he knows.
I believe in Susman.
I believe in 55+ Claims being valid and enforceable.
I believe ATVI will settle... When? within 18 months but once Markman comes back... and the rules (and language) of engagement are defined they would be wise to rethink their stance. Treble damages for willful infringement alone is good reason. Susman has more fish to fry... they can lever that and pay a little less and let someone else become Susman's target.
Casper had some rough weather (which slowed the Courts greatly this past Winter.
Also, there are many claims here. The Patent Arena had an eventful year. I believe Casper has been gathering information in her fact finding mission to help her make the best decision... Who know how long that is taking or how many Experts she engaged. My experience with the Courts has taught me that quick is usually bad for the Plaintiff. Everyday this goes longer... the more my confidence grows.
So... if you see what I see... then Hudson has been a good friend to you. They have given us shares at prices I thought we'd never see again. I have used their actions to slowly build my position.
Time will tell if I am right but one man's trash is another man's treasure. None of us always see the treasure or the trash for what it is. I believe Hudson's trashing WDDD has allowed me greater treasure.

Interesting read: www.engadget.com/2015/03/26/motorola-intellectual-ventures/
This stood out for me:
the last part of that statement describes in a nutshell how Intellectual Ventures' founder and CEO Nathan Myhrvold views his company. He doesn't see the lawsuits as patent trolling at all, instead he considers going after potential patent infringers as just another mechanism of capitalism at work. And, unfortunately for the tech companies IV typically targets, US patent law still has far to go before it can stop all patent trolls.
There is some hope, though. The America Invents Act, which President Obama signed into law back in 2011, shifted the US to a "first-to-file" patent system that removes some of the loopholes trolls previously used. And last year, the Supreme Court struck down an abstract software patent, which set a precedent against weak patents that merely captured the idea behind a piece of software.
We're also expecting some big changes over at the US Patent and Trademark office, now that former Google lawyer Michelle Lee is running the joint (after serving as acting director for a few years). She's been outspoken over the need for serious patent reform when she was at Google -- now Lee has a shot at actually making that happen.

No one is surprised.... and the justice system is looking very poorly at the moment. The 'favor' which was given was too much of any fascist organization to ask for from any government... including a social-leaning one like the one we have. The integrity of any government must stand at least in perception if not in practice.
VRNG will win. This is greater than two companies... it is the validity of the entire IP system. Like a Fiat currency, IP is only backed by the belief that it works... not by any physical measure of value ( IE: Gold). To shatter that image is to throw it away... and it is too valuable to the Government coffers to do so.
Dead to Rights... this will be beautiful for VRNG Longs!
Thanks.
ZTE`s Latest Attempt to Lift Injunction is Denied
NEW YORK - March 23, 2015 - Vringo, Inc. (VRNG) today announced it has received a favorable ruling in Brazil.
On Thursday, March 19, 2015, the Court denied ZTE`s fifth attempt to lift an injunction that has been in place since April 15, 2014. The Court rejected ZTE`s renewed offer to post a bond in exchange for the lifting of the injunction, holding that such an offer was previously rejected on appeal and stating that ZTE was improperly attempting to revisit the merits of an injunction that had already been confirmed on appeal.
I would expect a steady climb up from here. April 6th is the deadline... If DLink is serious, they will have this completed by end of March unless they are playing games which at this point will only result in penalties from the Court... so that would be unwise with no material gain for them for stalling.
Once the DLink settlement is done, confidence will return to shareholders of VRNG resulting in Longs adding to their positions and Shorts removing exposure... NET BUYING
Speculators will also be adding in advance of the GOOG WoC (May 14). Which again is a deadline...
ZTE may finally come to their senses and realize they are jeopardizing their global marketplace & brand... so unless they enjoy being downsized back to just China... time to settle.
I believe it's a good time to be adding... or have already bought(from the Clearance Bin).
GLTALs
I doubt they factored, if anything they may have borrowed against these streams but I doubt that is the reason for the delay. I expect the delay is due to VRNG expecting to announce a settlement with DLink any day. Makes more sense.
Securit,
So you're Short, no problem.
I am very well versed on VRNG for several years now and I work in the Legal Finance arena. I have a very good handle on VRNGs position.
Sometimes you need to ask why you hold the position you do on a stock. I am always taking stock... you might want to as well... It seems you are misinformed but then your position is your money.
So far so good. :)
WDDD is like marriage... patience, faith, and some good fortune... makes it worth holding on to.
Looking forward to GREAT news after the Bell today.
It is Friday and in the same time frame as previous rulings by Casper... GLTALs
Works for me. My Wife was born on a Friday the 13th and so far that's been lucky... for me. :)
Actually... ask why would they say this now?
Because they are posturing... why would they be posturing? To try and negotiate a better settlement. Invalidating a Patent in China? Has no impact on Western Patents. It is a cheap stunt with no value. China has the worst IP protection in the whole WORLD!
I take this as Bullish for VRNG.
WhiteOwl,
I believe there is buying by the Longs... just not in the volumes we have been seeing. Most Longs I know are 'Full Boat' on this one and with no news to bring in new Investors, I just don't see this as purely Longs. You might be right, I've bought on many dips myself.
Soon this to shall pass ;)
On to the Markman!
GLTALs
No, it wasn't proved... and even if there was/were a limit(s), there are many ways to get around them and Hudson has a track record of playing dirty.
It's only short term, news could come at any moment that should shut this selling down.
Hudson is acting like a spoiled child. They didn't get what they wanted so they are trying to hurt WDDD.
It isn't about the money for them at the moment, or so it would seem it isn't. However, they are shaking out loose shares and testing the limits of Longs.
This is how Stock Bullies work... just part of the game.
Look at the volume, is that not impressive? Do you think there has been that much new interest in WDDD? I don't.
Do you think there has been that much repeat buying by the Longs? I don't... unless of course WDDDs has someone supporting the shareprice which I doubt.
So, Hudson is selling... to themselves and shaking out loose shares in the process while showing WDDDs it's power. This kind of thing happens all the time in the absence of news...
If you believe in Susman, if you remember why you bought this stock, if you think 55+ claims is enough to get the Markman done, if you can see that current share price means little other than an opportunity to add, then stay Long... I believe Susman will get WDDDs to the endzone and win big... So Hudson or any other bully trying to game the shareprice pre-news is unimportant. I refuse to let them take my shares by trying to play the fear card.
GLTALs
Almost 1,500,000 shares have traded in the last 5 sessions (for March settlement).
Today: 260,000 + https://finance.yahoo.com/q/hp?s=WDDD+Historical+Prices
If Hudson could only sell 1,000,000/month... I would think they are done for March.
Or, someone has been knocking out stops and picking up cheap shares.
I tend to think it's this. Any experienced penny trader knows not to put on stops. Pennies are a different beast subject to wild swings.
Whatever the reason for selling, it's the quiet that has the volume directed downwards. Soon, news will drive it North and all those worried will be buying again.
There are ways to get around lock ups. They could be selling borrowed shares (from a Market Maker, etc) that will be replaced with the ones they got from WDDD. It doesn't really matter... What matters is a succesful Markman to keep this moving upwards and onwards! :)
Dam78,
Of course everyone cares about REV but if you are looking for REV now it means you don't understand what is happening here.
VRNG is like a gold exploration co., It has proven reserves, it owns the land and soon will be extracting the gold. How can you have REV before you extract the gold? You may be able to pre-sell but that would be a settlement here... and that is what is currently being waited on.
If this isn't clear to you, you should not be long or short here. As Buffet says: 'You should only invest in things you use and understand'. Or, you're just gambling.
Good one!
5 Months today.... since Markman (Oct 3rd, 2014)
seekingalpha.com/article/2538385-with-cameras-rolling-worlds-inc-battles-activision-blizzard-october-3
Already 168,000 shares have traded... in approx the first hour of trading. At first blush, it looks weak but in the 25+ years I've been trading, this usually is a good sign for NEWS driven stocks.
Why? Fear. Most traders/penny stock buyers don't like to wait and they hate delayed NEWS events even more. 5 months is a lifetime to most. Patience wins the Patent Play game.
You know the score, 55+ claims, etc... although no win is guaranteed, these are the best odds for success I've personally seen in a very long time.
WDDD is 3 feet from gold
Three Feet From Gold
by Napoleon Hill
One of the most common causes of failure is the habit of quitting when one is overtaken by temporary defeat. Every person is guilty of this mistake at one time or another.
What we could all use about now is a refresh with the new claims from MarkmanRunup on the intrinsic value of WDDD/ share! :)
Jetta09, I agree. My background is legal & financial. I don't usually play OTC stocks as they are usually too risky. Susman's agreement to work this on contingency was a big factor in my putting any money into WDDDs. I have worked with too many firms that love to bill hours. Susman has skin in the game and that means a lot.
We should be in the final stretch of the Markman... any day now. As Whitey Bulger slowed the MSJ, Mother Nature has slowed the Markman.
I think all longs should do very well with WDDDs. Once Markman gets locked in, Kidrin plans to move to a bigger exchange. That will be very nice :)
GL
A good test would be to see if you can actually buy today. If so...
then someone is truly selling (and not to themselves). If it's Hudson, my guess is they are taking some money off the table. Remember the sell off last year when 'Worlds' patents died briefly, but were resurrected! Post 16514?
There was a huge selloff. Did Hudson buy then on the weakness?
I think of the large amount sold at very low levels then had the buyers thinking this was going to run up past .30/share before Markman and since that didn't happen they are now just reducing exposure pre-news. Defense is part of the game.
I like this story too much. Over 55 claims on games measured in the billions (sales), Susman seeing the value of doing this on contingency and continuing to add claims against new titles, it goes on and on.... heck, I may talk myself into buying more!
It's a game. Did you sell? I didn't and I bet most didn't either.
Sure, it's been a test on the patience of everyone who holds shares but selling now makes no sense. So, a Market Maker (maybe Hudson, maybe not) has several accounts. He sells from one (to himself) that shows sales to the others. Reasons to do this? 1) shake out nervous shares (free money) 2) Use the tax loss in one account where trader has gains and get a lower cost basis in another Account 3) keep volume up on an otherwise illiquid stock (attracts more investors).
This stock in in a holding pattern until a news event occurs. Watching the ups and downs will only pull at your heart strings... and they don't mean anything.
Susman continuing to file claims... that's great news! So, next step should be very good for longs.
They can be factored, confidential information just can't be made public. Any buyer would have to sign a NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement.
I doubt VRNG will dilute when it has assets it can short term pledge as collateral. They are shareholders of the company which means dilution hurts them as well.
Being on the outside means we don't have the 'inside' info. I would expect that VRNG sees big things on the near horizon they just can't disclose at present as it would hurt settlement discussions.
VRNG is in better shape than it has been for awhile and GOOG will be brought back into the fold... Justice is often slowed but when the whole system is under attack as it is currently, large patent portfolio companies like GOOG stand to lose much more if they let it stand as is... so Justice will not be denied (here).
Good news for patent play Longs:
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Apple Inc has been ordered to pay $532.9 million after a federal jury in Texas found that its iTunes software infringed three patents owned by patent licensing firm Smartflash LLC.
Though Smartflash had been asking for $852 million in damages, Tuesday night's verdict was still a blow to Apple.
The jury, which deliberated for eight hours, determined Apple had not only used Smartflash's patents without permission, but did so willfully.
Apple, which said it would appeal, said the outcome was another reason reform was needed in the patent system to curb litigation by companies that don't make products themselves.
"We refused to pay off this company for the ideas our employees spent years innovating and unfortunately we have been left with no choice but to take this fight up through the court system," Apple said in a statement.
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/apple-ordered-pay-533-mln-063152543.html
Courtrooms are battlefields. That is fact.
No one wants to give away profit BUT no one wants to lose business either. The ZTE legal team did what any good defense team would do... slow as much as possible the settlement process.
The facts are that ZTE is running out of options... their latest move was a 'Hail Mary' that blew up in their face. I 'added' to my confidence in VRNG after that because it showed me ZTE is feeling the heat and was willing to go after risky plays to try and win... they are clearly on the ropes.
We may still be months away from an actual settlement but Romania was ZTE's gateway to Europe and the UK is now also blocked... the US is currently getting upset at ZTE... so that Market is at risk as well... decisions need to be made or they risk losing the market share they have managed to build.
When they settle, others become the target of VRNG and ZTE could actually benefit by their competition being blocked from selling. I guarantee you that is being discussed right now at their Co.
Think of Fight Club. Do you remember his job? He had to determine if an issue was serious enough to do a recall... that means human lives were at risk at the sake of dollars. That's a real job. Here it's about managing marketshare vs paying the rightful owner for their contribution to your success. Maintaining Marketshare will win as 100% of nothing usually loses to any % of something.
No one wants to be the next Blackberry and partners don't like drama: http://www.marketwatch.com/story/zte-wins-cosmote-romania-lte-contract-2014-08-25
America was built on protecting IP rights. It's why the best and brightest come to the US and it's that promise as well as the support that allows the US to lead in innovation.
IP rights will be protected... all this current garbage is a hiccup in the process but ultimately it will be corrected.
It's not just the patent holders, the whole economy depends on IP protection as well as the lawyers, courts, public servants, etc who manage and enforce that protection... many, many jobs depend on IP being upheld... So it's about jobs and 'jobs' dictate politics.
If you are trading... this could be a short term concern.
I would not trade at these levels especially with possible news from SCOTUS, and with ZTE on the ropes.
But I hear what you are saying... I am staying long and if SCOTUS accepts.... this rockets UP.
Actually, this is very good. This is exactly how it is done. This will not only provide for a faster trial (and settlement), if ZTE doesn't comply it looks bad for them and the other patents are brought back on stream. It's a win-win for VRNG.
VRNG has become a hangout for Shorts... This is actually good for Longs. Remember that Stock that your Mother told you to buy because her friend at a party said she had bought some and was making 'sure' money? Well, this is where we are in the cycle on shorting VRNG.
This means we will push up fast on good news.
