HAAAAAAAAA!
Much as I like taxing subject matter, Shrek delighted me.
The acting irritated me all the way 'round in The Hours. Because I'm a junkie for movies of that nature I watched as if it were the last film I'd ever see. But when it was over I never looked back. Woolf's nose sure had me crosseyed after awhile, too.
P.S. I happen to despise Meryl Streep. I am always aware that she's acting and something about the way she talks, the stiffness of her mouth... oh, let me not go on before I display more of the unpleasant aspects of my character.
It'll be good for you, then.
Okay, I'LL tell you. Jean de Florette + Manon of the Spring. I like Florette better but Manon ties it up nicely.
GET OUT OF HERE!!!!!!!! Ask Raz what movie I've been badgering him to see for months and months. Go on.
I wouldn't care about it being depressing if it were better. It was hyped too much, too. One of those movies about which people felt they had to be enthusiastic.
Me too. I could name quite a few if given a few. I love movies about decadence but I hate movies that are contrived to be dark and weird just for the sake of it.
Read all his stuff a few (ha) years ago. Movie was okay. That dark stuff wears thin after awhile, though, I loved Leaving Las Vegas, actually.
Sometimes I don't realize how loud I am.
Morning, Susie. Hope life is treating you well.
And YOU have an even better day than that.
Catch you soon.
If anything interesting happens, I'll let you know.
Well, I guess that covers just about everything - LOL!
Oh baby! Morning. Almost done with grades. A few more hours and I'm free, free, free, for the summer.
How's by you?
COCK-A-DOODLE-DOOOOOO :)
IF ANYONE IS STILL LISTENING
Hi cintrix,
I have to see it now though, Shrek II that is. I hear there's a great new character in it?
Everyone says The Incredibles is great. I think that's the name of it. Here I am watching cartoons. Never liked them before but they've gotten so savvy.
See you around.
Finding Nemo is next on the list. TX Susie. I was nervous writing that, wondering what people would say or not say (which can be worse). But it's such a lovely film. Can't wait to see Nemo now.
Hey, I liked it a lot too.
I'm not going to even look up what anyone said or didn't say about Shrek cause I just watched it - yes, a bit behind the times here - and I don't want to be deterred from saying that I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!! My husband said he wasn't going to let me order any more movies when he saw Shrek show up (he said it affectionately, of course), however I did have to watch it by myself. I don't care, I don't care, I don't care. I LOVED SHREK! It made me happy. Happy is good. For perhaps the first ten minutes I wondered if he wasn't correct but then it grew on me, it's enchanting in such a cool way. By the time it was over I had a smile on my face that wouldn't quite. Such a sucker am I.
Hia Susie.
Did you not gag at that?!!!!!!!! Ugh, can't even think about it!
Happy Mother's Day to you.
You will love it :)
Hi Spillway! It was a shocker, wasn't it? That title throws you. But the story really starts to engage you and that little girl is really something. It's hard not to care about her - she exhibits so much dignity. So happy to hear you liked it also. TX for reply.
You are so very welcome.
Rabbit-Proof Fence was by far the better movie. But I still enjoyed Whale Rider. Glad you both liked them too.
Anybody see Rabbit-Proof Fence? I saw it a long time ago and LOVED it. Loved, loved, loved it. It's a 4 out of 5 for me. Because I gave it such a high rating on Netflix, they recommended a movie from New Zealand called Whale Rider (unfortunate name), which I saw tonight. If you are in the mood for a well made, both infuriating (for most women and some men) and touching experience, I highly recommend you see it. The young girl who plays the lead, Keisha Castle-Hughes, was beautiful in the role. I found her face and expressions alone to be mesmerizing, before she even opens her mouth and that powerful, engaging voice and spirit of hers come out. I give it 3 out of 5, though I enjoyed it more than that. The lack of character development overall won't let me give it more than 3. Probably stupid of me but I can't do it. For you softies out there, it's a good cry, too. How I love a good cry.
:)~
LOL
Oh, to be that quick and funny. I hope it's true.
The evolution of vernacular is a curious thing to live through, particularly in a culture that tears through everything so rapidly. I remember fearing to seem stupid when I was uncertain of how to write computer phrases or words accurately, like e-mail vs. email. Then I just started making up my own way, almost always opting for the simplest way to get the point across, which it seems is how these things wind up being single, unhyphenated words. I'm apparently not the only lazy one!
TX
I think you need to add the word "website" at least half a dozen more times to this post so people know what you are talking about. JK
TX for the recommendations, OU. Will rent them.
Just saw City of God. Brilliant film. A bit of work to follow at times... and dark, but a great story, extremely well made. 4 out of 5 stars.
Bull, that was really special. TX again, as usual.
I feel for you - not. Wish you had a smaller kitchen. Think about what you just wrote!
You are sooooo lucky to have a great cooking space.
It IS you!! My superior friend Susie.
Are you done with the cabinets?
I know someone who winks just like you. Could it be?
And who might this be????????????????????
Me too. Certainly not a waste. My aversion perhaps is a reaction to how much people said I'd love it. Then, if you just don't like it that much it's a huge disappointment.
Blah, blah, blah.
I wasn't following the thread. Sorry. Didn't know you loved it. It was okay.
It's great that you loved it. It's certainly not the norm so you have discerning tastes and that's great.
P.S. What I didn't like was that I related to too many of the characters in an unpleasant way. Like the guy tooling around his mansion. I know one of those and it's too goofy for words. He's an idiot - the one I know that is.
I know a kazillion chicks like her, too. Hohum. So cute and unique.
There are some great coming of age films, but that ain't one of them. Sappy.
Most films have great soundtracks.
Done.
Actually, great soundtrack.
I wasn't crazy about it. A few interesting things but the ending bites.
:)
I very much enjoyed reading this. Thank you.
I would love to say more about the film but will let go before I beat the topic to death. The film, to me, was like a fine wine - corny as that sounds. Not a Pinot (though I could make some comparisons) but a great, great Spatlese.
Me too. My favorite since The Station Agent. I had not one complaint about either one. That's saying something.
