I ran across the info below and wonder if anyone could comment on how true this would be: TIA
OTC Penny Stocks
Once you've picked out and analyzed some stocks to buy, be sure to
remember that stocks trading on the New York Stock Exchange and the
American Stock Exchange, are quoted at just one (1) price. That's the
price you'll pay to purchase the stock.
Over The Counter (OTC) stocks have a "bid price" and "ask price".
If you want to buy the stock you pay the ask price. If you want to sell the
stock you pay the bid price. The difference between the bid and the ask
price is called the "spread".
The spread amount can be an indication of how actively the stock trades.
A small $0.03 spread is an indication that the stock trades very actively.
Simply put, this means that if you wanted to sell the stock immediately
after you purchased it, you'd get $0.03 less than you paid for it.
Always avoid buying OTC stocks that have large price spreads. A large
price spread indicates that a stock (is not) traded very actively. This is
easy to remember. Just look at the spread and tell yourself that that's the
amount you'll give away the minute you buy the stock. It works every time.
Here's a good "rule-of-thumb" for acceptable OTC stock spreads.
Stocks costing $0.125 cents to $0.25 cents ......... $0.03 cent spread.
$0.26 ...........to $0.75 cents ......... $0.03 to $0.06 cents.
$0.75 ...........to $2 dollars ......... $0.06 to $0.125 cents.
$2.00 and up ................................ $0.125 to $0.25 cents.
Again! Stay away from stocks with big spreads. Warning bells should go
off the minute you see it. It's your money. Don't throw it away.
We want to buy and sell stocks that trade on the three major exchanges.
We're only gonna buy a low-price stock that makes a profit, has good
sales, great management, trading at or near it's 52 week low, with good
fundamentals.
The exception to this, will be young undiscovered growth stocks, that are
about to announce new technology or new products, that could propel
the stock to new highs. But even these stocks must meet all the basic
fundamental requirements that we would use to scrutinize any stock.
Can you delete a post during the 15 min. edit period or only edit?
Thanx maddogs, I added your post to my notebook. Good read.
Rats. I probably missed do to greed at .26 & .27 buy orders.
Oh well, you were right stevo and I believed you but I got to greedy trying to buy to low. lol
But what do I know, maybe MM wouldn't have taken even a much higher bid for all I know.
Do you expect a bounce back up today, pz?
TIA
No nibbles at .27 either. So, what's up? Are MMs still shaking but not interested in filling? Or am I blaming MMs for something they aren't involved in?
Thanx guys, I've got an order in at .26 but maybe will up to .27 and see what happens.
stevo, do you feel pretty sure this is weak hands being shaken out?
TIA
Question for one of the chart experts here:
Does the price chart and the MFI for NVMG show a positive divergence near the end of December?
I tried to put the StockCharts.com sample but it didn't link over. But as I look at the price chart and the MFI at the end of December it looks like that kind of formation.
TIA
You read my mind. lol
Thanx for the run down on NVMG lowman. Looks like an O&G-plus play we have here.
Will do. lol
If winterization is required for the wells you mentioned then I hope we have the kind of management that would execute the proper
care with equipment. That would be nice. lol
I wouldn't mind being a snow bird during Jan & Feb sometime in the future. Then I can get back to summer tequila and lime. lol
Maybe go to New Mexico and metal-detect for meteorites/gold. lol
I am closing my business and it is incorporated and I was told that sometimes you can sell your corp status to the market.
Two questions:
1) Would this be a shell that I would be trying to sell?
2) Does anyone know about this area of selling a corp. structure
to whomever may be interested?
TIA
I know I guy in eastern Montana who leases his land to an O & G company and I am in the process of trying to call him and see if he knows anything about NVMG or anything else for that matter!
Yo mad, I ski, hike, icefish and drink brandy during the winter in Montana. LMAO
Yo hug, We almost went skiing to Look Out Pass 2 weeks ago but had a change of plans and went to Discovery Basin instead. (bright sunny winter day)
I live in Missoula.
punk
Your right mad, I live in western Montana and have been to eastern Montana many times and it is cold, windy country in the winter.
Great hunting and fishing though. :)
Can some of the experienced folks here comment a little on
bid x ask spreads and what they might mean in different situations?
TIA
Just for my own knowledge, shouldn't Allspew also consider who owns most of the float when he opines?
TIA
In my short time here I have never seen it that bad. The bid shows mid .20s and you couldn't buy at .32.
I guess lowman's point about MMs is true at least some of the time. WOW
Thanx stevo
I'm new at this and have a question about todays bid level.
Is this the MM trying to imply a lack of support? Or what else would hold the bid that low.
it was .24x.40, or thereabouts. Now it is .27x.36
TIA
He has a new job now. Robo-rooter.
Absolutely. It is a cross I will gladly shoulder along with that bag of $$$. You got a good one here lowman. Good job to you and the early finder of this company.
I guess that is a cross we will just have to bare.
TD Ameritrade also shows .24x.40
I see that top. What's that all about? .23 bid on Scottrade?
Oops, now it's .24
Thanx lowman. I'll add this sight to my list.
A call to the chamber of commerce in Calgary might help to find out if and where this company exists huggums.

I know I have seen differences between data sources. I think time and experience can help us decide what data sources we prefer.
I have many web sight data sources, etc. saved on my computer favorites and I sometimes scroll through and look over different data sources to compare accuracy as well as find places that I prefer to use over other sources as the sight feels user friendly to me.
That's the nice thing about the boards here. You can do some DD and then get other points of view from the members on the given stock board to see if your DD is consistant with their research. After a while I think a person will gain confidence in knowing where the good data sources are.
GLTY rocky
I'm sure others can better help you than I. Just wanted to share what little experience I have on the topic.
Let me know what you find out in the future. Thanx
punk
I can't answer your question rocky but I use MSN Money to check on insider activity. Maybe the rest of the sources are good too, I don't know for sure. MSN Money shows the sells or buys from insiders as well as who they are and how many shares they still hold.
Thought the following was interesting and wondered if some others might like to read.

I have been reading the "Investor Help" board where Irishbull has posted many lessons on fundamental analysis. (This tutorial series starts on "post # 894" on the "investor help" board)
The info is taken from StockCharts.com
Between Money 101 and Investor Help boards you can really learn a lot.
So that's my 2 cents for the day.

P. S. I like to study other stuff and sometimes bring the questions here as it gives one exposure to different views. What seems cut and dry when you first study it sometimes takes on a different hew in someone else's mind.
Yeah lak, it's like investing off-shore without investing off-shore. lol I notice EW's client list too.
I saw that. .0028 bid over ask of .0027 too.
Now I'm glad I doubled my share count while it was at .0018.
To the moon Alice!
I'm playing, HMGP, DPDW, and NVMG.
I think HMGP is going to be my best play.
BTW, check out the free, iHUB poker tourney at the Fat Cats board. It's this Sunday and it's free. Info is in Fat Cats ibox

thanx deano
Maybe it WAS the fee that I had in the back of my mind, but I thought there was some other variable out there for calculating the gnat's-azz average share price.
Oh well, life's too short. lol
Up Up and away.
