HURC - contrary to my expectation, not a great quarter. Share price has not taken a hit, however, likely as timing of orders should lead to a better following quarter.
If there is a dip, I will buy some more...
http://ih.advfn.com/p.php?pid=nmona&article=56592477&symbol=HURC
"Hurco Companies, Inc., (Nasdaq:HURC) today reported for its first fiscal quarter ended January 31, 2013, net income of $2,254,000, or $0.34 per diluted share, a decrease of $2,379,000, or 51%, when compared to net income of $4,633,000, or $0.71 per diluted share, for the first quarter of fiscal 2012. The decrease in net income was primarily due to a 14% reduction in reported sales, resulting from a shift in the timing of shipments between quarters, particularly in Europe. However, orders during the first quarter of fiscal 2013 were 5% higher than in the corresponding period of fiscal 2012."
HHSE - Is TITA even available at Walmart yet? Any idea what's up there?
CMG - sold for 25% gain in 6 weeks ... nice run for a large-cap. Will look to re-buy on dip...
EXMGF / MIN.V update today ... market does not care... confirms this could be an under-the-radar play.
http://www.excelsiormining.com/index.php/news/news-2013/394-resource-upgrade-enhances-gunnison-in-situ-copper-project
Me too ... I hope I gave them STD.
But seriously, what kind of update is 'nice forward progress'.
Is anyone drawing a line in the sand at March 15th??
You can say that again.
So how are we to interpret the SEC feedback on the form 10 ... are they ready to resubmit today? ... will it take months? I want answers!!
XIN - whew, has recovered significantly from the panic-selling and profit-taking.
Glad I did not sell on the open ... XIN recovering from early panic-selling and profit-taking.
Still extremely low valuation and legitimacy confirmed by growing dividend.
XIN ... taking a hit today b/c of changes to Chinese taxation of real estate gains. The covered calls I sold Friday certainly helped a bit. I'm still up very significantly but hopefully there will not be further bleeding...
XIN increased their dividend last week...
OK Batski ... I got about 40 minutes into Mind Walk ... I'm deeply sympathetic to the underlying thesis. The thesis has been outlined (about perception change, physicalism etc) so I'm very curious if/how it comes to be defended through the rest of the movie ... such is quite similar to the scope of my thinking and writing.
Thanks again...
I had no idea that whole movies were on youtube ... I'll definately have to see it now. It might be a few weeks before I have some time, but this is right up my alley ... thanks for the link!
I've been reading more academic-oriented stuff and its sad the lack of imagination into the deep issues ... my theory is that acadmemic philosphers -- trying to be like their brothers in science -- are pressured to innovate rather than be frank about the limits of knowledge and mysteries of reality/being/existence. It is a big dis-service of philosophy. Also, because they are failing to innovate the field is dis-respected rather than appreciated. Imagine inviting a philosopher to CNN as an expert... it would be considered a joke and I think deservedly. I digress!!
Also have to look into those stocks picks ... I have to catch up on work tonight, so -- unfortunatley -- no time other than to check in.
Woulfe - I started looking into it but quit digging further when I saw South Korea ... not necessarily a bad thing, but not enough time to try to understand the implications. Guess, I should get back to that one...
I heard on Bloomberg radio an analyst saying that mining in general should be a good longer-term investment, especially once the global economy turns around a bit more (not that I always trust those guys). The analyst was especially bullish on copper and I'm still bullish on my wild card EXMGF ... I mentioned it a couple of times on junior mining board but unfortunatley there were no responses ... it seems completely under the radar at the moment but it would have been interesting to have received an opinion or two from the knowledgeable folks from that board.
AMY. Let's see what happens ... it's becoming more of a long-shot but the share price is so depressed there is also even more reward. I still think the tech is valid but they need (1) develop these new higher-purity products and find a market (2) get the costs down (3) improvement in EMM prices ... only one of those three and we could be on our way again.
BTW, did you see the PR a while back differenting lithium-cobalt vs lithium-manganses batteries? I'm admittedly confused but this provided some clarity ... there certainly seems a niche but I'm not sure anyone knows how big.
XIN - up 8%, my second double this year (along with PLSB.)
VRSEF Zacks Article ... nothing new but a good summary/reminder.
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/vrsef-meaningful-progress-several-fronts-180000554.html
Michael/Husky ... thanks for the feedback ... it's sometimes difficult to guage what folks are thinking so I'm glad it's all good ...
Guys, if I'm spamming the board with too many posts, please let me know. It is not to my benefit if I'm posting too much!
I don't expect responses to all these posts, of course, but I enjoy putting out my thoughts... it might be too much clutter?
If so, I could surely cut back to the more important stuff... just let me know and I'm happy to oblige.
HHSE - Crazy that there is no volume following this post ... folks must be getting impatient/cynical (which is understandable) so if this does indeed occur we should see a pretty good jump.
XIN ... sold Oct 19ths $7.50 calls for 30 cents or about 6% of share price ... pretty good premium ... 7.80/5.40 leaves 44% upside.
And we've rocked another 8% today!
HHSE - blog. Form 10 review today with SEC ... crossing fingers!!
http://www.hannoverhousemovies.blogspot.com/
"In response to many shareholder emails about "status," here's the update. A call is set for 2-pm Central Time today with the S.E.C. / Edgar representative that has been assisting Hannover House in the procedural steps to relist as fully-reporting. The Form 10 document has been completed and will be discussed today to determine if it's ready for filing. We will post a follow up this evening. "
EORBF - up 11% today ... looks like we timed that one well!
Yes, VRSEF having started commercialization does seem a safer bet than ADXS (with upside of both being similar??). I have more VRSEF than ADXS.
Just in case, I have a bid for more VRSEF @ .43 ... but I'm thinking (and hoping) it will not fill.
VSEC - Q4 results. I continue to like what I'm seeing here. Despite a sizeable one-time restructuring/divestment hit, earnings are still growing YOY with lower dependence on goverment contracts.
Very low PE should limit downside.
http://ih.advfn.com/p.php?pid=nmona&article=56491785&symbol=VSEC
Since this was annonunced mid-day yesterday, perhaps we won't see any dip today...actually pretty positive that the market took the news very well.
VRS financing ... at least not much below the current shareprice but 70 cents exercise price is pretty generous (I would love to have been involved in the PP!) ... good to get this out of the way and might result in some cheepies today... I might put in a low-ball bid just in case.
Malc, you had mentioned the plan to roll WNDEF money into VRS so this could be good timing.
http://www.verisante.com/news/103/verisante-technology-inc-announces-brokered-private-placements/
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA - Verisante Technology, Inc. (TSX-V: VRS, OTCQX: VRSEF) (the “Company” or “Verisante”), a leader in cancer detection technology, announced today that the Company intends to complete two separate and independent brokered private placements through Raymond James Ltd. (agent for sales in Canada only) and a separate Agent for sales in the US (the “Agents”). The private placement to be conducted by Raymond James Ltd. shall be for a minimum of 4,000,000 to a maximum of 10,000,000 units at $0.50 per unit for total gross proceeds of a minimum of $2,000,000 and a maximum of $5,000,000, and the private placement to be conducted by the Company’s US Agent shall be for a minimum of 4,000,000 to a maximum of 10,000,000 units at $0.50 per unit for total gross proceeds of a minimum of $2,000,000 and a maximum of $5,000,000, (collectively, the “Offerings”).
Each unit will comprise of one common share and one common share purchase warrant (the “Warrants”). Each Warrant will entitle the holder to purchase one common share at a price of $0.70 per share with an expiry date of 24 months from the closing of the Offerings.
Yes, the key to what your saying, I think, is being able to evaluate --- without attachment -- if things have changed. I'd further add we really have to be careful of 'group think' ... the extent to which we feed off each other to reinforce our beliefs.
So I very appreciate you are trying to keep things 'objective'! I'ts critical! This is why I've set a persoal goal of evaluating my approach by Jan 2014 ... given the upcoming catalysts we should have confirmation whether or not the fundentals meet our hypotheses and indeed if the approach works... right now, I don't we have much information to really know if we've been right or wrong about most our picks ... one year is a long time, but I plan to be mindful the rest of my life so it's really not that long from now.
In the case things have not changed, however, and a stock is cheaper, then it is -- by definition -- a good (or at least better) deal ... which is why I bought more EORBF today. Now, the drop could be because the market 'knows something'. Such thinking that the market knows something implies share prices tend to be rational (efficient market hypothesis) which further implies it is not worthwhile even trying to beat the market ... the market is always 'wise' so there is no room to discover value.
In this case, we should be in an index fund.
For ADXS, I'm all about the clinical trial results ... hopefully, once again, the market does not know something we don't as the results look very promising (highly stastically significant vs baseline). If the company is trading on negative trial information that has not yet been publically disclosed, being at such an information disadvantage leaves the bio space pretty uninvestable. I don't know the extent of such unfair trading, but it won't be too long from now before all will be known. (Only 40% of successful phase II trials pass phase III, but I think ADXS has an above average shot as they have pretty objective evaluation criteria ... life or death.)
HHSE I more readily see your point and probably have over-extended myself ... my average down was meant more as a trade, which is why I sold some at 0.019.
I'm open to feedback here, so please fire away!
ADXS I'm beggining to hate the word 'expect'....
FYI...Additional dates for the India trials below ... not sure what they mean by primmary completion.
http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01116245?term=advaxis&rank=1
Estimated Study Completion Date: June 2013
Estimated Primary Completion Date: April 2013 (Final data collection date for primary outcome measure)
Yeah .... not wishing for all those events but at least a couple of successes to demonstrate the value of time spent on analysis of fundmanentals.
If all those things happened, I could probably retire!
Gosh -- no need for appologies. You were following me on those trades and a lof of folks have written off BAFJJ (which I sold a long time ago) and AMY (I'm still holding out) so I was defensive to think -- by mentioning them -- that you were toying with me. I'm soooooo sorry (and embarrassed)!! I should not have made those assumptions, especially since you a friend.
Trust me, I've considered selling ADXS, HHSE, etc... I'm not sure how to distinguish being a gambler vs averaging down as a prudent value investor /contrarian. I'm going on the record to say that this is a pivotal year to evaluate our picks so if no catalysts hit, I'm definately going to re-evaluate and go with a safer approach. But that is a year from now, so I'm certainly far from there yet! On the other hand, WNDEF and ADXS have demonstrated that declining share price does not mean an incorrect evaluation of fundamentals so I'm quite optimistic others will follow.
I've tried to temper my portfolio with a few safer companies like of HURC and VSEC ... no guarantees for those, either, but they are profitable which should offset the volatility (with still some decent upside).
Between PLSB, EORBG and our other progressive stocks, I thinking at least one or two should make out as planned to more than compensate losses on the rest. (I would say 50-bagger, but I undertand that term is now trade-marked.)
Anyway, let me know if you would like to discuss any of these companies in more detail.
Got the sarcasm, I think? ... 03s is a bit extreme! (And I was wondering about AMY, BAJFF)
I'll try to scale back on my posts or at least the more specualtive stuff ... I'm reasonable and if folks aren't interested in seeing all my trades/thoughts, I'm not offended if its cluttering the board or annoying (not to say the bad calls I've made ... AMY and Chinese stocks are my worst performers). If so, my sincere appologies... just let me know so I can accomodate.
ADXS - up 15%! I did not re-enter my swing-trade shares (looking for 9s) but not complaining!
Thanks Malc! It has been a very good year ... still waiting for the big one (a catalyst) to hit... for better or worse, I'll know this year if I have a nack for this... will just take a couple of these. If not, I'll stick to large-caps and swing-trading which has been much more consistent for me.
PLSB - reaching sales targets (either Cabana or Pulse)
VRSEF - (significant) sales, progress with FDA
HHSE - confirmation of profitable TITA sales, audit etc.
ADXS and INO - clinical trial results
EORBF - deal finalized with Russal, revenues from Veolia deal, SGA feasibility, profitable HPA result, 5N HPA purity produced by plant.
EXMGF - complete profitable feasibility study
SAN - be free of delinquent mortgages (as mentioned, probably not happen to 2014).
SPMD - following Glen, so let's see...
XIN - up now 13% and broke past $5!! Not even close to making up for all my China losses, but I'll take it...
EORBF ... Batski, you got a much better price than me... welcome aboard and good luck to us both!
Today's drop seems to have followed a skeptical story on Canada TV BNN. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions or insights to discuss ... with the share-price decline, despite the Veolia deal and opertaions, things look pretty good, IMO.
When I have some time, I will look into the picks you had mentioned.
Harley, I nearly picked this for my wild card, so please include on the board...
EORBF - crashing today despite no negative news ... bought some more @ $1.70 ... we've seen pure panic selling before so hopefully I'm right here (gulp.).
Yes.
AMY awarded patent ... still hope left!?
http://ih.advfn.com/p.php?pid=nmona&article=56479388&symbol=TSXV:AMY
XIN ... growing their dividend! Great Q!!
http://ih.advfn.com/p.php?pid=nmona&article=56477898&symbol=XIN
He bought today (it's just a couple of posts back...).
