Yeah, Genius is sweet! ;oD
If a partnership were to be formed between Image Entertainment and Genius Products, I would expect it to evolve rapidly in a positive direction for both companies, imho.
DISK has a valuable library of media content.
I would love to see a merger between GNPR Genius
Products and DISK, GLTY.

I wonder if Genius Products will release Scratch to global markets? ;oD
Haylie Duff's BackWoods on DVD June 23rd
Haylie Duff (Napoleon Dynamite, TV’s “7th Heaven”) stars as Lee, a strong professional woman, who finds herself in the fight of her life when Backwoods debuts on DVD June 23 from Genius Products and RHI Entertainment.
Ryan Merriman (Final Destination 3, The Ring Two), Danny Nucci (World Trade Center) and Jonathan Chase (Eagle Eye, TV’s “Ring of Death”) also star as coworkers who test more than just their camping skills when a company retreat goes terribly wrong. In the gruesome, intensity-filled vein of Deliverance, The Hills Have Eyes and Wrong Turn, Backwoods is a riveting and visceral ride into danger and fear – an experience you won’t forget! Backwoodswill be available on DVD for $14.95 SRP.

May the force be with Genius, and any future scratch DJ sequels!
Cheers, I dated CHTRq quite a few times around, may the tide of fortune go your way as well! GLTY ;oD
Correct, however, CHTRq has VOLUME!
That too! ;oD Life is Good!
Genius has already won, whatever happens next is just icing on the cake, imho.
Thanks! :oD

As Sticky! ;oD
Not exactly, Activision had prior legal issues with Konomi, the maker of Beat Mania on an unrelated issue.
"I'm going to arbitrarily pick a bond amount," said the judge of the $2 million, according to today's 34-page court transcript. It (The Bond Amount) may go down -- it may NEVER go up."
Thanks for being on point, Mike_t ;oD
Maybe I should post a link to the Activision complaint in the ibox?
They are attempting to win, just as Genius is. It is a bond, it is just that, nothing more. In the end, Genius will win hands down, imho.
My best guess is 7 Studios / Activision knows the true value of, and was very reluctant to, hand over the source code and proprietary game development tools. 2 million is chicken feed compared to the real cost for Genius to acquire this Game Development tools and technology. Genius is in a great position, imho.
The game source code, and proprietary game development tools alone are worth significantly more than 2 million, imho.
Hopefully Genius will leverage these assets and form an in-house game development department.

05/12/2009 Order, Preliminary Injunction
Filed by Attorney for Pltf/Petnr
is what you seek?
The key is to provide an experience, true to hip hop roots, yet at the same time make something everyone enjoys!
It was probably something the Judge ordered towards the tail-end of deliberations. Obviously, Genius more than likely expressed interest, and intends to challenge the bond at a future time / place.
*YAWNS*
glty! ;oD
I agree! Activision is the "big bully" and such behavior is no longer tolerated.
For the lineup, something old + new school that everyone loves would be awesome!
I see Sony Playstation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360, Apple Itunes and Facebook / Myspace etc... as effective mechanisms to enable Genius Products to connect with the target market demographic.
Genius needs to start releasing new advertisements to the target market for Scratch The Ultimate DJ, ASAP! This time around, hopefully they will use Eric B and Rakim, "Dont Sweat The Technique", as part of the lineup! ;oD
"I think these guys have a lot more going for them than most people realize. There are a lot of new technologies out there."
I agree, new technology is is a driving force and the resulting innovations are revolutionizing the marketplace. Take a look at Genius Products, GPNR. The company is developing a new video game called Scratch The Ultimate DJ. Looking beyond that, I see potential in Scratch The Ultimate VJ (Video DJ) and handheld devices as the future driving forces in the entertainment industry for the delivery and distribution of media (Audio and Video) content to the consumer.
I see the potential, hopefully Young can effectively unload KRON, GLTY :OD
I envision a resurgence of independent DTV content, merger for Young is a possibility, imo.
Delay tactics and undue influence by Activision, and will ultimately stand to benefit Genius Products during final stages of the ongoing litigation, imho.
The debt load is scary.
Scratch Source Code Handover Imminent, Legal Bills Mount
The complex legal battle surrounding Scratch: Ultimate DJ continues with today's revelation that the game's source code will see a court-ordered handover in exchange for up to a $2 million bond.
A new LLC formed by Scratch publisher Genius Products and turntable peripheral maker Numark must put up the bond money in order to have the game's code returned to them by developer and Activision subsidiary 7 Studios.
Activision, which is developing its own rival product, DJ Hero, has used its mounting legal costs as a basis to ask the court to raise the bond amount -- the publisher has spent $350,000 on the lawsuit to date, and claims its legal costs will reach $4 to $5 million by the end of the process. Activision's willingness to commit this volume of expense is illustrative of the importance of the music genre to the publisher.
But Scratch LLC argues that Activision merely wishes to keep the game's source code out of Genius' hands for as long as possible, hoping to prevent the release of Scratch from competing with the launch of DJ Hero.
"You asked why [Activision's lawyers] are fighting so hard?" Asked attorneys for Genius/Numark in court, according to today's 34-page court transcript (). "Just today it was announced that Activision was going to be releasing its competing game [DJ Hero] this Fall. They are holding us up to get out in front of us. That is exactly what is going on."
"We sent every member of 7 Studios home, your honor," complained Activision's attorneys in response. "They have [been] sitting at home because we wanted to make sure [Genius/Numark] didn't have the basis for an argument that some trade secrets went to Activision."
"I'm going to arbitrarily pick a bond amount," said the judge of the $2 million, according to today's 34-page court transcript. It may go down -- it may NEVER go up."
Genius Products and Numark are still currently planning to show Scratch at E3 -- and Activision is also presumably planning to showcase DJ Hero there.

It definitely supports my theory!

Inching lower.
GNPR is a similar name to GTCR...
Genius is also a leader in reinventing the classics of yesterday and creating the entertainment classics of tomorrow (Scratch: The Ultimate DJ).
Is the $200 Million investment an example of the start of industry-wide organizational streamlining and corporate strategy realignment and refocusing activities?
The Video Gaming and the Movie distribution industries share similar parallels.

ER becomes Classic Media
The former UK and US arms of Entertainment Rights are to operate under the name Classic Media, the company confirmed today.
The news follows the acquisition of the subsidiaries, Classic Media and Big Idea, by US IP firm Boomerang Media and private equity group GTCR last month. Veggie Tales producer Big Idea will operate under its own name.
Boomerang Media is managed by Eric Ellenbogen and John Engelman, founders of Classic Media.
The acquisition of ER's properties last month, including He-Man, Casper The Friendly Ghost and Postman Pat, is the first major transaction for Boomerang. In partnership with GTCR, it plans to invest US $200 Million in equity capital in ER's franchises.
"Classic Media is a leader in reinventing the classics of yesterday and creating the entertainment classics of tomorrow. As one entity, the company will benefit from the combined resources of proven creative talent and business expertise," Boomerang said in a statement today.
Classic Media said it will be at Licensing International Expo in Las Vegas this June showcasing new properties Tinga Tinga Tales and Guess with Jess.
