I am wondering why they would be interviewing and AMerican for a Canadian Queer Show's advertising - lord knows we have enough queer folks here!
Doesn't seem right to me........

They are based out of Canada but have office/ studios in Palm Springs, Las Vegas, Houston and Phoenix as of this time. So, they employ Americans for their behind the camera work and they pay American taxes...So, I'd say it quite fair.

to answer your question
re: International Gay and Lesbian Aquatics Championship
This is going down this week. Is QBID sending a whole crew down to FL to film this? When will it be out? Is it live? Where can it been seen/heard? Who's going to be there to check it out? How do they get paid? etc etc...
Q Television Network Purchases Studio
Thursday September 16, 7:30 am ET
Network Announces It Has Acquired Exclusive Rights to the International Gay and Lesbian Aquatics Championship
PALM SPRINGS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 16, 2004--Q Television Network (Pink Sheets:QBID - News) announced today that it has purchased a Butler Building to be used for its Palm Springs studio.
A Butler Building is a manufactured paneled steel building built by Butler. The studio will be reconstructed in Palm Springs. The 20,000 square foot building is 140' X 142' and 67 feet tall. The space and height will enable the network to "fly" the sets, or raise and lower sets as needed. The doors open the total width of the building and are 42 feet tall. The building is fully insulated and can be used to produce live shows once completed.
"Currently, we rent studios in Las Vegas, Fort Worth, New Orleans and now Palm Springs, California," said Frank Olsen, CEO and President of Q Television Network. "This will enable us to have production control, do pre and post-production work, hold events and have a live studio audience. When completed in January 2005, it will be a showcase studio, fully equipped with digital and uplink capabilities."
Q Television Network also announced it has been awarded exclusive rights to the International Gay and Lesbian Aquatics Championships (IGLA) 2004. The Network will broadcast the IGLA from October 6-11. The competition will be held in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. IGLA competitions include Diving, Swimming, Synchronized Swimming, Water Polo and for the first time a one-mile ocean swim.

I am dying to hear more about it and hope that we get to see it over here.

Chicago Gay Games Signs Multi-Million $
Deal for TV/Radio Broadcast Rights
Letter of Intent Signed with California-based Q Television Network
2004-09-30
CHICAGO, IL – Chicago organizers of Gay Games VII today announced a multi-million dollar cash and barter deal assigning television and radio broadcast rights to the Q Television network. Q Television Network and Chicago Games, Inc. (CGI) signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) marking the final negotiation period for an agreement transferring the media rights to the California-based cable network.
The LOI outlines the broad terms of the proposed deal, including broadcast rights, joint development of Gay Games-related programming, broadcast airtime for advanced Gay Games advertising, and live and taped coverage of Gay Games VII events from 15 to 22 July 2006. As part of the proposed agreement, Q Television, a subscriber-based television network affiliated with RCN Cable and other providers, will unscramble its signal during live coverage of the Gay Games in 2006. Q Television would also serve as the agent for the redistribution of television and radio broadcast rights, allowing for access beyond Q Television’s cable footprint, especially in international markets. The media rights being sold would not prohibit standard news coverage.
“It has been my dream to get television created specifically for the LGBT audience on the air,” said Frank Olsen, CEO and President of Q Television. “With the Gay Games as our landmark network event, we will begin immediately to present the stories of the men and women worldwide that participate in the Games and build anticipation and excitement until the opening ceremonies.”
Steven Grunberg, Executive Vice-President of Programming for the Q Television Network, said “Q Television is all about ‘community’ and showing LGBT life at its best and most uplifting. We are honored to be chosen as the home for the Games and we will work hand-in-hand with Chicago’s organizers to deliver one of the great LGBT events of the new millennium.”
Chicago Outstripping Fundraising Projections
"In the six short months since Chicago was selected as host of Gay Games VII, we’ve made dramatic progress toward our financial goals and achieved fundraising benchmarks months, or in some cases, years ahead of schedule,” said Tracy Baim, CGI Board Co-Vice Chair and Chair of the Fundraising Committee. “Once broadcast rights are assigned, we will have raised more than US$3 million in cash and in-kind resources.” CGI announced a million-dollar sponsorship deal with PlanetOut Inc. on 20 September 2004.
“We believe that these rapid and positive developments are representative of the widespread support for the Gay Games mission and the Gay Games VII business model,” said Dennis Sneyers, CGI Co-Chair. “Our business plan is built upon years of analysis and study by the international Federation of Gay Games (FGG), a return to the core of the Gay Games - an event that is laser-focused on the athletes, artists and fans. A conservative budget, expert community organizers, a true partnership with the FGG, and top-notch vendors hired to implement key components of the plan means we now enjoy the confidence of our community, sports organizers worldwide, and now the corporate world.”
“We are extremely excited to have a broadcast partner this far in advance of the Games,” said Kevin Boyer, CGI Board Co-Vice President and Chair of the Marketing Committee. “Advanced television coverage and programming will let us tell the inspiring Gay Games story to even more people. The Gay Games have never had an opportunity like this and we are excited to be an integral part of the Q Television mission to create a network devoted to providing television programming for the LGBT community.”
Negotiations were spearheaded by Amy Shomer of Plan B, Chicago’s primary corporate sponsorship development firm. With offices in Los Angeles, Montreal and London, Plan B has worked to match corporate sponsors with the Gay Games since being retained by Chicago in early 2004. Corporate sponsorship of Gay Games VII is still available. Companies interested in learning more about Gay Games sponsorship should visit GayGamesChicago.org/sponsors/ or call (773) 907-2006.

Kind of makes me mad that we gay folk have our own special games. Like we're not fast enough or strong enough to be in the *regular* games with all the *normal* athletes.

You're missing the point of the gay games. Its not about who is better or faster or stronger. Its about people of all nations, with a common identity, coming together to celebrate our freedom to be who we are. We could be at war with a nation over freedom..yet, we are at peace when we unite as competitors. The Olympics has the same idea, the same competitive spirit. Yet, when you combine gay athletes from all nations coming together..there is just nothing like it. If you were there you would experience emotions that you had probably never felt before and will never forget. I'll never forget my first gay games experience in Sydney Australia. All the athletes walked together to the opening ceremonies. The walk was like a peaceful march to the stadium which took about 1 hour. It was the most awesome sight and the feeling brought tears to my eyes. All gay, all countries, in all their costumes and flags together in one peaceful nation. Iraq, Israel, Iran, Ireland, South America, North America..and many more.
No, this shouldn't make you mad. This should make you proud. And, yes there are gay athletes in the regular Olympics. And, there are those Olympic Athletes who support the gay games. Melissa Etheridge will be there supporting us in Chicago as well as Amanda S. from Married with Children. Get your tickets now..Opening ceremonies will be one incredible show.

Charltuna..understand, but it still stinks. Im sure there are hundreds of these pinks that are possible scams, but there are just as many that are legit business endeavors... I just think its sad that your own government lends its approval to something that is so costly... if in no other manner than looking the other way....
Okay AZ...I sent my two cents worth in..my comments included: "How can anyone EVER propose that Social Security go public {knowing the illegal activity of mms} unless....." you get the drift...
Thanks Charltuna...I emailed your post to everyone in my address book...not that most will take seriously unfortunately, but thanks for your dd
You know closed CIRCLES....hee hee
Georgeking....I love a mystery...Target dog our newest sponsor? The french would love QTN I think....
Well Skunks, and junk, island, all, Im out of here...Ive got a horse to show, and since Im down to two post anyway I may as well bid you good day! Keep the faith!
I do think I have lived with a few "deaf" persons lol but thanks for setting me straight...hee hee.....actually I do have a two brothers who are partially deaf, for different reasons, one being a engineer on a fire truck (sirens) and the other who was born that way, so please do not think I am making fun of anyone, I am not...
Agree...I have often thot that if I was Frank and I read some of the post here, I would be taking a whole lot personally....when you think how freely he has been called names, and right out called a liar and a fraud and even to his personal hygeine (sp) which has absolutely nothing to do with QTN, I would take this "discussing" things to another level...jmo
That is probably true, but it seems we are actually doing both here... or at least it feels like it... if you do sign language, what does that represent???
I'm not in that one, but I have read enough on both boards to wonder why people hang on every word these companies dish out..or dont dish out.
Ha! You are asking the wrong person for that...I have never responded to anything in my life in a timely manner, but in this case, I think that when you have nothing better to do but sit on this board and wonder why they have or have not done whatever, its impossible to know. Which is why all this supposing is so dangerous... we have no way of knowing. You takes your chances... but let me add, that nothing ever happens the way you think it should, business or no business...
yeah, that sounds like slander to me, wonder what it would sound like to the legal system.....
Big money hands have been in QTN for the last couple of months..so when you think about the credibility of those who are participating in Frank's quest, I would hesitate to think that they would be naive enough to join hands with someone who is making false claims just to deceive the investors....
I think hinting that the pr's are false is just as grave as the news being delayed....it has the same effect but for very different agendas... dont you think?
You can bet the mm's have..as for false Pr's, If I advertise I will have milk for a buck a gallon, and the milkman doesn't show for the supply, why shoot the messanger? And in a start-up, you are going to have lots of advertisements that you end up with rainchecks for...thats why its a start-up, aye?
And I personally think the SEC should be investigated as well, but again, thats my opinion. Marketmakers getting away with what they have in the past and driving thousands of small business in the ground should be their first concern...dont you think?
Island...I agree. I just get tired of the games.....
And who cares if Skunk post more than anyone else...and no I dont think objectivity can be equated with or without jailtime..I seldom post but I read alot, and the tone here today is like 3 dogs on the same bone...
Robg and Smoke...where were you when this board was chatting it up at .0001??? Sure there is always a chance that any stock can fail.. but to issue such dire warnings at this stage of the game smacks of something other than concern...this is a startup and a pinkie so most of us who have watched it for the last couple of years (and longer) are fully aware of what can happen.... but why all of a sudden with the SEC???
Agreed, Skunks! There was limited chatters on this board and a huge amount of digging and looking and waiting just for some hint of movement and a huge amount of excitement over ANY news...what most consider fluff prs now would have made me extremely happy two years ago... they certainly have come a long way!
Skunks; if it makes a difference I will add my welcome back PLEASE! to the pot....as said b4, I dont post often but I am "lurking" 90% of the time, and a huge amount of the info I care to absorb is from your post... have no clue why you were "jailed" and do not care...just try to behave yourself so I can count on learning something from you...hee hee.....
dk gross...areyou still playing with the Malones? I think they have been contracted to play for Leesburg High reunion in 2005...
Skunks!!! Thanks! Yeah, unfortunately I was more involved with Jeanne and Francis than I would have liked... between trees down and my entire elec service having to be rebuilt, I was staying elsewhere for quite a while...the insurance adjuster just came out last week so hopefully I can recoup enough to redo the roof and get another computer and frig... love that power when you don't have it... found out what a whimp Ireally am! Ha! Yes I was on the cc but since I had been out of the loop some of it I didn't comprehend, tho it couldn't have been too exciting since I virtually dozed off... either that or I'm just not with it... no comments there please...hee hee... didn't get the email but my mailbox had over 500 ems so it wouldn't take any more I guess. A native american network aye? Well, I guess thats about the last unchallenged frontier in networking, but I don't think that will be as easy. Considering that a great deal of the indian nations are on a poverty scale that makes me look like Im living a royal life... and the priorities are different as well. I think we assume that all people chase the dollar as we (I)do and thats simply not so. I don't claim to be an expert on all of the nations (or even a few), but I do wonder about venturing into that territory. I do think a pbs type station might be a good thing....who knows what Frank has up his sleeve? I know I about cried when I saw how low the pps was, (qbid) but still am keeping the faith. Hope we begin to see a steady increase soon. Oh well, thank you so much for the info and hopefully by the first of the year I will be able to snatch more than a few moments to keep up with you guys... sorry for the manuscript.... but I gotta get it all in... Im still not living at home and tend to "visit" someone with a computer at least once a week.... later, and thanks again.
DK Gross...Skunks...somebody...I havent been online in over a month...I lost my computer along with roof (and other things) thanks to the last two hurricanes. I'm lost as to what is going on now and would REALLY appreciate an update. Since Im on a borrowed computer, could one of you guys fill me in on new developments? I will pick it up later... thank you thank you thank you in advance!!! P.S....in case you were on the conference call, I was the dork with the very last question.. I fell asleep and when they said next question from barb, I thot, "gee, there is someone else on line with the same name..." hee hee..... what a hoot! Thanks and Im off...(uh, you know what I mean)
But congradulations lobo anyway, I didnt realize you had upcoming nuptials when I wrote that, just good luck anyway!!!!
I don't support marriage period, gay or otherwise; I think they should just give you 5 year contracts and at the end of each contract re-negotiate for the next five years. That keeps the lawyers happy handling the contracts (after all, they've got to eat too) and frees up court time for murders and such. If you got kids you only negotiate after they turn 18 no ifs and s or buts. That gets rid of child support and frees up more court time and ends some social service issues. Lets see.... what else.....
Foxy...for sure....
Foxy...saw your post re your neck: Just wondering if you have tried acupuncture? Doesn't cure it but for relieving the pain it can work wonders.... especially when the nerves are involved. Didn't mean to butt in but I have seen what it can do for people in pain.... Glty
DK I will have to check it out some time...well back to work for me, so you guys have a great afternoon!
Well, we probably have met at some time or the other, considering I spent some time there. Can't do that anymore (not that I want too), you said Rambo so I know for sure I probably did. Yeah hang on to the email, and if they need a look-out, will do. As long as I don't have to swim....hee hee. Lets just hope Qbid goes UP in case I need to build a new house...one with pontoons would probably work...hee hee
Findit: if you havent been thru that area in the last 5-10 years you would not believe it? The Villages has spread to include parts of sumter, lake and marion counties....The Villages bought and expanded where the Orange Blossom mobile park was...when I say expanded, theyve been averaging building over 400 houses a month...lots of money rolling in there. At some point they are supposed to have a theater to have broadway plays, operas and symphonies etc. Any kind of chain dinig you could ask for....all those pastures will be in concrete before its over with. As far as speed trap, they are too busy trying to keep them "in between the lines" if you catch my drift. This is the second largest retirement settlement in the world. But I remember the speed trap, got stopped one time for doing 55 in 45 zone...I was turning a corner which was impossible to be doing at that speed..so the butthole gave me a citation for bad tires. arggggggggg
