SI down again ?
Who was that guy? Anyone remember?
Must be the niceguy. HHHHMMMM? But...I thought that he does not post on your fine thread.
The stock is acting as though something may be pending...upgrade...announcement ???
Has anyone on this thread been following AMD call activity the last three trading days for unusual activity ?
Up over $16 in the AH market: http://quotes.nasdaq.com/quote.dll?mode=frameset&kind=&symbol=INTC&symbol=AMD&symbol...
I recall one other time with this kind of sporadic positive behavior. There was an upgraded ANALyst report in preparation that time. We should know within a few days if that is once again the case.

Anyone know what is up over at SI ? I have not been able to get access since late yesterday.
Dan3...BUGGI1000, try to stare at the photo in: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=14926 without breaking down into laughter. Go ahead, I defy you. I really think that it is a scream.
PresQWATT moves towards 120+ QWatts: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=14926
That photo is actually very, very funny.
With the number of AMD shares that I hold, I have no plans to sleep any time soon.
Kind of indirectly supports what you are saying: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=14914
Is not Lehman where DEE Niles used to do his act ?
These clowns can only see so much improvement before finally caving in and acknowledging with upgrades.
Opteron Tapped for Expansion

they may be going up or down or remaining level That is exactly the kind of insight that we have come to depend on.
FWIW, probably nothing, I believe that the last PS call on AMD preceded the move from $7 to $18.
kapkan is apparently correctly. Imagine, that Joe Elliott sales guy at delL was willing to misinform me just to get an order.
I requested specifically a prescotT. I also requested an e-mail followup confirming that it is that processor. So far I have recieved a duplicate confirmation but no e-mail confirming the processor as required.

Correction: it was kapkan4q that said that a delL rep said that. It may well not be the very same thing. I just asked a delL rep for a 3.4 gighurtS presshotT system and was told that it would ship in 1 1/2 weeks.
I do recall some eary mention of this fact. Some items are more important than others and do deserve a remention, especially as the news item evolves. This BSD site item is relatively brand new, if I am not mistaken. It could help to lead to a more general recognition of a fact known to a relatively narrow few, news in itself, even if the basic item is not new.
Intel left out support for the page table NXE bit (No-EXecute) there is no W^X support on the Intel cpus

BUT...Where is the reset button ?
Thought this would make your day Everything´s normal.
Well...actually...there are a few items on the grand list of all things that would make my day more than this does.
You are correct, however, the situation is normal.
delL! michaeL delL hisselF: "We will launch AMD-based servers!" http://www.siliconinvestor.com/stocktalk/msg.gsp?msgid=19860279
Anybody awake here ?
(edit) I hope that you are correct; but, I think that you are dreaming. inteL has two things in great abundance, money and very smart people. About a year ago, it was obvious that AMD had a very competitive product. There is no way that resources were not commited at that time. I suspect that things got a lot more serious a few months ago when inteL clearly felt the heat(various plays on words are possible but none are intended). It is dreaming to think that iT only got started recently.
And here I though that Dirk was down in the Bahamas sipping Pina Coladas and basking in the glow from his past accomplishments
I must not not tell a lie. I got it from pgerassi on the SI thread: http://www.siliconinvestor.com/stocktalk/msg.gsp?msgid=19841302
OKAY Doug. I wait up. Last time was Thursday. It had better be for real this time. I am running out of patience.
Not the same thing. HP needs Opteron. To this day, I believe that AMD was doing a shill job for the Vole. AMD did not want the Microsoft business. It would have caused capacity problems at very low margins.
SAMATTER wid yu ? Nothing good is priced into the stock. Only the bad stuff is priced into the stock.
This might also be of interest: http://www.siliconinvestor.com/stocktalk/msg.gsp?msgid=19838102
I believe that the sluggishness loading may be gone. If it is not let me know and I will post it here.
The pricing is dropping though ASPs may be climbing resulting from a richer mix. I see a lot of 2800+, 3000+ and even 3200+ at all three of the big retailers. Hardly a scientific study; but, I have not seen such a unanimity of offerings in recent history.
Once the 64 bit Genie....
re: "Intel is to license AMD 64 bit technology for its next generation Pentium" ?
Not exactly: http://asia.cnet.com/newstech/systems/0,39001153,39168433,00.htm
It is not as if it was not obvious in advance: http://www.pbs.org/cringely/pulpit/pulpit20021226.html
http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=14038
AMD design will kill competition
...What's more, Intel is stuck with using AMD's design because so much has already been done for it. Microsoft has an AMD64 version of Windows well into beta and it's not likely to take any lip from Intel about slightly different versions - Microsoft needs this version of Windows to be thoroughly beta tested by thousands of users before it is released and they can only do that on AMD processors so Intel will have to toe the line. Then there is all of the AMD64 work done on Linux, Intel wouldn't be too popular if it caused a whole lot of rework. Essentially, Intel has to produce something that is fully AMD64 compatible or it will be making the biggest marketing blunder in its history....
