Welcome Emerson, it's good to see more longs posting. I hope you averaged down over time to be the one shareholder with nearly a 1000% return. If not, we will still get there and blow past that in the long run, imo.

Excellent response Dave! Well thought out and presented professionally. It's amazing with the amount of information in the I-Box that it is still overlooked by many. Solar has done an exceptional job building on Frees work. If anyone hasn't visited the I-box lately I would recommend you re-visit it. A must see for newbies. Really? Most longs are just that, long/holding. If there are half a dozen trading out of the multiple dozens I know invested in the company I would be very surprised. Why take the chance? The risk to rewards isn't worth it at this junction of the business development. The last person I know that sold is so upset at this time they are beside themselves still. Sold for a small profit and then lost out on the run. " I'm a wreck because I could have literally paid off every cent of debt AND kept my initial amount invested with how much it's run so far." One reason to stay long!

Jamis1 is the man with the answers. These guys are in a class of intelligence all their own. My degree is not in Nuclear Engineering where as his is. The key to this is not generating heat during the energy transfer, thus raising the efficiency as additional reactions take place. No small feat by any means or it would have been accomplished long ago. Glad the gTQD's Hollingsworth designed plays a key role in attaining that elusive quest!
You might have hit on a marketing tool for Solterra with your Solar Fission Cells - SFC## where the # equals the efficiency of the solar cell. On the other side of the solar field as you and Jamis pointed out is the importance that QD batteries could play, another huge potential use. We know the gTQD solar cells will trump all, not sure about a TQD battery vs graphene battery. http://www.kurzweilai.net/new-graphene-based-supercapacitors-rival-lead-acid-batteries

Very sad news this morning, Qureka passed away. He was young, in his early 50's which makes it harder to accept. He had been battling esophageal cancer from late last year and was making progress until about three weeks ago. This was his last communication in writing to us:
"Guys,
Many of you have heard some of the story, but I thought I'd give you an update. I had esophageal cancer that I've gotten treatment for since December. Things appeared to be going very well until recently. All of the sudden, I got fluid buildup in my abdomen for no apparent reason. Well, the reason was the cancer had spread to my abdominal wall without warning signs on the PET scan. The fluid is causing all kinds so complications with my bowels.
The bottom line is I am very malnourished, with little chance of
successfully turning this around. Therefore, this email could be goodbye.
I certainly don't want it to be, now that QTMM is just getting
interesting, but I am not in control at this point.
Lynn"
I was fortunate enough to visit him yesterday before the shocking bad news this morning from TedJ. He will be missed by many, for his intelligence was uncanny and he was a friend I enjoyed sharing our story with.
Rest in peace,
Bill
LOL - Can't tell the wife about it until it's $5. That's our agreement. She has no idea nor does she want to know anything about what's going on with the company and the technology. Boy will she be surprised.

and here's why:
Quantum Dots – What’s it about?
Was playing with numbers again after looking over the last PR on production capacity. The unit we just received has a 250kg per annum output, that equates to 28.5 grams per hour running 365 days a year for 24 hours. The 10Q only referenced the sample/lab scale equipment as capable of 2 grams per hour. If 2 grams per hour can fill small to medium size orders and the output of the current unit is 14+ times the original expectation, they may not need to get the production scale unit by the third quarter. The comment Steve makes in the PR kind of supports that thinking because he says “We plan to quadruple production output by January 15, 2015”, that would have to be for the current unit, because it is NO WHERE CLOSE TO 2kilograms per hour! That’s 20 times more than the January 15, 2015 production number of 1000kg per annum (the quadrupled current production rate). I say the second reactor, the one I thought they were ordering, the 2kg/hr unit is moved further out until they need mega-manufacturing capacity. I think we will see revised numbers and statements in the next 10q or 10K to reflect that. Is that bad? Go back to the post for the numbers http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=103180621 and remember I incorrectly used the tax rate for sales instead of earnings producing an incorrect value and multiply it by four or use BigE’s revised numbers http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=103186527 Not too shabby now is it! Don’t even think of using the production capacity numbers, it’ll blow your mind.
From the 10-Q 1 form10q.htm QUANTUM MATERIALS CORP FORM 10-Q
The Company has negotiated an agreement with the equipment provider for the delivery of a lab scale equipment unit capable of producing 2 grams per hour. This first unit will be used to validate synthesis protocols for customized TQDs developed to meet customer specification and will also be used to produce samples and to fulfill small to medium-size orders. The Company has also negotiated an agreement with the equipment provider for the delivery of a production scale equipment unit capable of producing 2 kilograms per hour. This unit is intended to be used to fulfill additional commercial orders. Subject to the Company obtaining financing for both of these equipment acquisitions, pursuant to a Securities Purchase Agreement described above, the sample size and production size equipment units are expected to be delivered to the Wet Lab during the first and third quarters of 2014, respectively. Each unit will be commissioned and tested upon delivery, with a view towards commencing initial production runs of TQDs within 30-60 days after installation. While the Company plans to work extensively with this provider of equipment units , the Company owns all rights to the designs and intellectual property resulting from the development project, and could contract with one or more other competent suppliers of equipment if that became necessary.
The Company is preparing to enter the next phase of its development – production and supply of commercial scale volumes of TQDs to potential customers and joint ventures in order to develop a platform of initial customers in various industries.
Looking better every day!

Crude, I missed this three in one combo that was previously posted: CEO said, "We offer reliable product and production methods for engineered materials, nanocrystals and quantum dots that can be tailored to fit our client's needs in their pursuit of continually improving product performance for customers."
Steve's not letting anything that can contribute to revenue get past him.
Welcome newbies! You're going to be absolutely dazed, glazed and amazed with this technology and the company bringing it to the commercialization forefront after 34 years being studied, researched and pondered.
Bill
John and to think we really haven't begun. Not sure when we'll meet again but where ever it is, I'm pretty sure it's going to be a joyous atmosphere! Happy trails to you until we meet again!

As you can see finance is not my forte, thus the CPA. I can relate better to the smaller numbers, the larger ones blow me away.
Swamp, don't forget about stock splits! That'll help with the dividends! While we are dreaming how about a spin off of the solar division once it grows?
Think we are getting a little ahead of ourselves here?
No crystal balls on this end. When they have news worthy of them spending the $$ to PR it we'll be among the first to know with everyone watching the PRNewswire releases daily.

Correct: #Quantum Materials Corp $QTMM HIRING 4 now another 7-10 for mass production of Tetrapod Quantum Dots to meet demand http://www.bizjournals.com/austin/blog/techflash/2014/05/quantum-materials-plans-to-hire-more-workers-for.html … …
Ridiculous beyond belief:
1 Gram = 1000 Milligrams
250kg yearly production = 250,000g
So if you gave them away for close to free at $150/g or $.15/mg you’re still talking about $37,500,000 dollars per annum. Using conservative numbers of 40% tax and 50% operating/expansion costs and a multiple EPS of 12 (I’m old and that was normal back then) on 400 Million shares (fully diluted) it comes out to a fair value per share of $.11. I don’t think you can low ball this any more than I did already. Now change the EPS to 20 and the shares to 250 mill, you’re at $.30!
A little more realistic:
http://www.nn-labs.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=94&Itemid=94
Using a conservative $ number from NN for 100 mg @ $900 for their QD and reducing it to100mg at $450 or 50% less than what NN is selling theirs for, equates to 2,500,000mg per annum if manufacturing at 250kg/year. 2.5 mill x $450 = $1,125,000,000 (yes, that’s Billion) minus 40% taxes = $450,000,000, minus another 50% operating costs/expansion $562,500,000, leaves $112,500,000 profit.
If the stock was fully diluted @ 400 mill that would be .28 cents/share. A very conservative EPS of 12, from the old days, that equals $3.38 FMV.
Raise the QD price, EPS or lower the float or operating margins and to say the least, however you slice and dice this, the run up to match revenue in the future is hard to fathom given the current state of the company’s stock price.
Now, who wants to buy that many TQD’s? Somebody must want to or they wouldn’t have ordered a second microreactor that will have quadruple the output. I believe there is a demand and with that demand will come $$$$$$$$$$.
I still like Qureka's numbers better!
Gantor,
I always thought on the solar side that First Solar would come knocking at the door when the time comes but I'm with Demdots. I don't think Steve will sell out any time soon.
It looks like better days ahead!

Impressive! - Tetrapod QD represented in design - clean lines - company name simply stated - a corporate symbol to be proud of!
I'm getting the impression that things are about to really get wild around here and with five years in the making it could be pretty impressive. Looks like Steve beat the odds (60% probability of failure) for startup companies surviving the idea phase to the commercialization phase. OVER ENTHUSIASTIC JUBILANCE courtesy of QMC/Solterra It looks like another step closer to the dream becoming a reality!
Blue:
The color blue has positive affects on the mind and the body. As the color of the spirit, it invokes rest and can cause the body to produce chemicals that are calming and exude feelings of tranquility. Blue helps to slow human metabolism, is cooling in nature, and helps with balance and self-expression.
The blue color communicates significance, importance, and confidence without creating somber or sinister feelings. This is where the corporate blue power suit and the blue uniforms of police officers and firefighter came from. Considered a highly corporate color, blue is associated with intelligence, stability, unity, and conservatism.
Green:
Green, the color of life, renewal, nature, and energy, is associated with meanings of growth, harmony, freshness, safety, fertility, and environment. Green is also traditionally associated with money, finances, banking, ambition and wall street.
The color green has healing power and is understood to be the most restful and relaxing color for the human eye to view. Green can help enhance vision, stability and endurance. Green takes up more space in the spectrum visible to the human eye and it is the dominant color in the natural. It is a natural choice in interior design as an ideal background or backdrop because we as humans are so used to seeing it everywhere.
With the color green’s association with renewal, growth, and hope, often green stands for both a lack of experience and need for growth. Green also stands for new growth and rebirth, common in the spring season when all of the plants are coming back to life with fresh growth and life after the cold winter months.
The color green affects us physically and mentally in several different ways. Green is soothing, relaxing, and youthful. Green is a color that helps alleviate anxiety, depression, and nervousness. Green also brings with it a sense of hope, health, adventure, and renewal, as well as self-control, compassion, and harmony
The green color is often used to indicate safety in the advertising of drugs and medical products. Green is directly related to nature and energy, so it is also commonly used to represent and promote ‘green’ products.

Colloidal synthesis of semiconductor nanocrystals offers high levels of control over both particle size and geometry, leading to the development of novel optoelectronic device architectures (e.g. CdSe/CdS tetrapods). Unfortunately, realization of such devices is forestalled due to the ubiquitous existence of energetic "trap" states which compete with quantum-confined band-edge excitonic states and drive down device efficiencies. Although the existence of such states is readily confirmed via observation of single particle photoluminescence blinking and delayed photoluminescence decay dynamics, little detail is actually known as to the characteristics of these trap states due to difficulties in directly accessing them experimentally. We use pulsed optically detected magnetic resonance spectroscopy in order to begin to probe the chemical and electronic nature of these long-lived states, shedding light on their relation to band-edge states [1, 2]. Ultimately, it is found that spin coherence extends up to T2=328±22ns for shallow traps at 3.5K, allowing for the coherent control of light harvesting in heterostructured nanotetrapods which permits remote readout of spin information [1].
***Picture would not copy - sorry***
Fig.1 A nanotetrapod ensemble is optically excited above the band gap of the CdS arm, where local shallow trapping may occur. Electron spin resonance takes advantage of the long trapping lifetime, allowing a preferentially “bright” or “dark” mutual spin configuration to be chosen. This choice in state determines the eventual CdSe core fluorescence yield for this model light-harvesting system.

Design of photocatalysts based on heterostructure quantum dots Doh C. Semiconductor nanocrystals of size in the strong quantum confinement regime, or quantum dots, exhibit size-dependent energy gap. The size-tunable shift of band-edge states can be a powerful tool in the control of exciton dynamics. For example, heterostructure nanocrystals with mere changes in geometric dimensions can lead to the band alignment from type I to type II, which could dramatically increase the exciton recombination lifetime. [1]
In this presentation, we describe the design of heterostructure nanocrystals based on PbSe and Cd chalcogenides showing ultralong recombination lifetime. For the study, we synthesized PbSe/CdSe core/shell nanocrystals and introduced CdS outer-most shell with varying thickness and morphology. Spectroscopic study revealed that as the outer CdS shell becomes thicker, the quantum confinement in the shell region is relieved and thus the heterostructure has quasi-type-II energy alignment. Furthermore, photoluminescence lifetime of the sample also increased when the CdS shell became thicker: nearly 2-orders-of- magnitude increase was observed. Notably, slight change in CdS deposition condition resulted in varying morphology of the CdS shell. Not only could we design heterostructure nanocrystals with enhanced electron-hole separation, the structure could turn into “open” geometry, such as tetrapods. (Fig. 1)
In the reduction of methylene blue, we observed noticeable increase in photocatalytic activity as the geometry became open.[2] For instance, tetrapod-shaped PbSe/CdSe/CdS core/shell/shell nanocrystals exhibited enhanced photocatalysis compared to pyramid-shaped PbSe/CdSe/CdS nanocrystals, let alone spherical structures. Our study of photocatalysis using PbSe-based heterostructure nanocrystals suggests that the geometric nature of nanocrystals should be considered in the context of the efficient conversion of photon energy into chemical reactions.

$QTMM - it's only a $5 Billion market by 2020 that Quantum Materials Corp is annotated as one of the KEY COMPANIES in the Global QD market competitive analysis section. http://www.alliedmarketresearch.com/quantum-dots-market …
I haven't. If I remember correctly it would have been at the shareholders meeting and the solar side wasn't a priority, Dr. Glass was suppose to be drafting up a new business plan. That's it in a nut shell.
Got a list already of organizations that will benefit and have already updated the will.
And what a story it will be! We're still in the preface.
That's exactly what Dave was saying earlier today, happiness is a state of mind and it's not tied to the money. Look at some of the people that are really rich, some are really messed up or dead now from not being in the right frame of mind. Don't get me wrong, if I have a choice rich & happy or poor & happy, I'm going for the rich and happy! Well on my way to accomplishing both.
He is not alone with that frame of thinking. One guy didn't and still doesn't want to know about it until it is a dollar. Gave him over a dozen opportunities through the years. (That might have been part of the problem - the years part) but it's more power or should I say $$$ for us when his type finally come on board. Many are "No revenue, no interest" , suites me fine too. Gave them more opportunities than they should have really had. If this was one of those penny stock scam jobs they laundered money through, I could see their reasoning. That's where doing your DD pays off, but they were just too lazy to do the research. So let them pay dearly to get in, in the future. I love their type now but it sure was frustrating at the time that I couldn't convince them this was a new renaissance in the semiconductor industry.

Quantum Materials Corp. Initiates Quantum Dot Mass Production Months Ahead of Schedule
SAN MARCOS, Texas, June 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Quantum Materials Corp. (OTCQB:QTMM) announced today that it has received its increased capacity equipment and is launching mass production of advanced materials several months ahead of schedule. As an emerging provider of quantum dots, nanoparticle materials and related platform technologies, Quantum Materials Corp.'s (QMC) production phase equipment is capable of producing 250 kilograms of quantum dots per annum.
The company's proprietary high volume process technology produces quantum dots with superior uniformity to those created via manual processes. Additionally, QMC is executing its strategic plan to broaden the product line to a variety of tetrapod quantum dots including Cadmium and previously announced Cadmium-Free Non-Heavy Metal Quantum Dots and size-optimized nanoscale metallic compounds including metal oxides. QMC recently added thick shell technology to its product offerings that possess many optoelectronic and photovoltaic advantages.
Looking beyond this achievement, Quantum Materials Corp. Chairman and CEO Stephen B. Squires stated that "Quantum Materials' next larger system, expected to be rapidly deployed later this year, will place us far ahead of the competition in the ability to supply reliable industrial quantities of quantum dots. We plan to quadruple production output by January 15, 2015, and have engineered plans in place to deploy short-lead-time parallel systems to meet ever increasing market demand."
David Doderer, Vice President of Research and Development for QMC, further detailed, "mass production affords the ability to quickly negate cost constraints and enable quantum dot penetration into newer applications such as security, defense, filtration, and product-ID packaging as well as our immediate opportunities in the display, lighting and energy sectors."
"With this accomplishment, our team has taken a significant step toward our goal of evolving quantum dots from an esoteric technological novelty to a core component commodity." Explaining his vision of the technology market, Squires continued, "The consumer expects the 'next big thing'. Our quantum dots are a strong part of technological innovations that enable products that can be simply incredible. We are very focused and highly motivated to provide these key building blocks to a wide range of product innovators so that their dreams become reality in superior next-generation products for these markets."
In addition to manufacturing Tetrapod Quantum Dots (TQD) engineered to specific lighting, display and medical applications for leading manufacturers worldwide, QMC is also developing TQD-infused films for medical devices, solid state lighting applications, electronic displays and quantum dot solar cells.

our team was able to push well beyond our initial target production goals --- NICE
These are the reasons as stated by DDHawk as to the possible reasons why:
Quantum Materials Corp's Giant Tetrapod Quantum Dots (GTQD's) are:
[1] 10 to 100X brighter & remain
[2] highly stable (luminescent & non-blinking) for much longer (comparative) metrics (if not indefinitely) at a
[3] higher light output with less heat generation , which
[4] extends product service life. QMC has effectively mitigated the troubling
[5] 'aggregation' problem all other QDot manufacturers have stumbled-on (as Steve basically mapped-out in his LinkedIn comment today). For most intents & purposes, our giant thick-shelled CdSe TQD's could be considered
[6] non-toxic (below ROHS levels) due to having a far lower CdSe (heavy metals) content and needing less with better results while being
[7] heavily encased within the durable 6 to 19-layer thick,
[8] selectivity/uniformity enhanced end-product nano-particle shell....all of which takes place in the
[9] low-cost
[10] automated micro-reactor process on
[11] an industrial scale , which FlowId has already expeditiously adapted to our
[12] newly acquired GTQD tech. And as an added bonus , these GTQD's are able to be made
[13] application-specific & the higher stability allows for a
[14] greater 'on' time , which results in a much higher number of
[15] MEG (multiple exciton generation) reactions , particularly when
[16] interspersed onto sheets of graphene... MEG; the holy grail of renewable energy...producing more energy than is being taken in.
[17] overcoming the 'photobleaching' effect
[18] overcoming the Stokes Shift limitations
[19] overcoming the auger recombination effect
[20] customized arm lengths for specific apps
[21] customized arm chemistry for electro & pharma-chemical reactive apps
[22] multiple arms for a far greater series of effects & apps than spherical QD's
By Daves count, that made 22 unique & formidable characteristics/attributes that put QMC GTQD's head-&-shoulders above the competition.
They also might have looked at some of the patent applications, which are coming in every day and researched the issued patents. That alone is enough to peak ones interest in the technology. The fact, if one is interested in investing in the technology, they really are limited in where they can go to capitalize on the niche market of quantum dots. Having the expectations of the production capacity shortly at the company lab could be another reason. It could be as simple as they figured out it is better to get in early rather than later. It's hard to stop a moving train to get on board once it gets moving. It's not the answer as to why now but it might be some of the reasons why.

Hi Duke,
You never sell, all you’re doing is introducing the people to an opportunity to possibly change their current financial status some. It’s their decision to invest totally. After they investigate the info provided or the direction you pointed them to, all actions after that are in their hands. Now presenting the info that you provide with exuberance/enthusiasm doesn’t hurt in getting their interest peaked. Most, about 80% - 90% won’t act on any of the info that you provide, they are not that venturous or willing to invest in a speculative unknown company. Those with foresight and with a little margin to play with in their finances will take the risk to rewards challenge more seriously and dabble with a few shares. Everyone wants to be in the next Microsoft, Dell, hot IPO that will run past their wildest imagination fantasies, but with those being few and far between most pass on the opportunity, and with good reason, so many hyped stocks and next earth shattering revolutionary products just fizzle. Remember the promotional push the Segway had as the next transportation wonder, fizzle. So the only advice I will give you for family and friends is be honest with what you know about the company, product they are developing and potential applications associated with their product. You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink.

IHub names will be included. Lets see what Art has to say about glowing after the Smart Fabric Conference, which he is currently attending. I'm going to need sizes from you clowns when it's time to get together. Too early now as some of you are going to fatten up from the good life you'll be living! Stretch T-shirts for beer bellies will be optional.
Bill
At the party I'll provide all the shirts!!! By then I believe I will be able to afford it. LOL I have two already, the first was printed without the yellow TQD on the back. They print what you submit and obviously I didn't do such a good job proofing as I had several iterations and sent the wrong one. I picked the gold color for the shirt as it stood out more to get people to look and ask questions what they are. Others may be more fashion oriented and need to color coordinate their wardrobes. Like I said, can't wait to wear it. I thought of putting it up for people to order but they don't ship to individual addresses of the order. It's a bulk delivery to the one address. If I wasn't so lazy and cheap I would have done it already.
Dave, you're on a roll with your ideas. Waiting for this commercial to come into a reality.
Welcome aboard LLH. I can guarantee you that the shirts you bought your grandkids didn't have quantum dots.
Bill
This will have to do for now:
Feel free to create your own TQD Shirt
Waiting for the day I can wear it!

Vajus, in response to the message to me that has since been deleted: “1 PR enough for posting 1000s of posts for another 1 month :) “ is this your post to me as Smithg596 which was also deleted from the other site

If so you need to get off the sauce for a while and clean up.

Quantum Materials Corp. ups the ante again by providing an advanced CUSTOMIZED METALLIC OXIDE for use in innovative battery and energy storage devices, catalytic devices, inks, quantum computing and roll-to-roll printed electronics. This is a separate engineered material from the semiconductor Tetrapod Quantum Dot. This is significant as I see it, "an extension of QMC's main focus: the design, development, production and supply of semiconductor tetrapod quantum dots", because you now have another revenue stream and not just one product!

Not sure where the $1/g value they published came from. Their published filing value is $30/g per their submittal METHODS FOR PRODUCING SEMICONDUCTOR NANOPARTICLES

[0034] In one embodiment, provided are bacterial-based synthesis methods for producing crystalline semiconductor nanoparticles such as quantum dots. Those methods use aqueous, environmentally friendly media and methods, and do not require expensive reagents, solvents or other materials. Nonetheless, the inventive methods are capable of producing large (g/L) quantities of QDs from a continuous process at a cost less than $30/g, thereby enabling the continuous producing of QDs on a scale necessary for their successful use in a number of otherwise cost-prohibitive commercial applications. The inventive activities herein combine the diverse but complementary skills of inventors from two fields. Mr. Berger is an expert in protein and microbial engineering, while Mr. Mcintosh is an expert in structure-function relationships of functional solid materials and electrocatalysis. These skills combined to conceive and create unique methodologies and environmentally benign, in situ semiconductor nanoparticle biosynthesis from live organisms such as gram-negative bacteria.
Interesting that they also have a continuous process, may be worth looking into since they want to license their technology and just filed an international application. You just never know.
