Fed Beaten: Bill to Audit Federal Reserve Passes Key Hurdle
Fed Beaten: Bill to Audit Federal Reserve Passes Key Hurdle
by Ryan Grim
In an unprecedented defeat for the Federal Reserve, an amendment to audit the multi-trillion dollar institution was approved by the House Finance Committee with an overwhelming and bipartisan 43-26 vote on Thursday afternoon despite harried last-minute lobbying from top Fed officials and the surprise opposition of Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.), who had previously been a supporter.
The measure, cosponsored by Reps. Ron Paul (R-Texas) and Alan Grayson (D-Fla.), authorizes the Government Accountability Office to conduct a wide-ranging audit of the Fed's opaque deals with foreign central banks and major U.S. financial institutions. The Fed has never had a real audit in its history and little is known of what it does with the trillions of dollars at its disposal.

lol
OT I HEART YOU!
Well opinions are Like Aholes every one has got one, but your so called "friend" is a moron. The book value is fact its not some made up fiction. Yes right now there is a disconnect between the stock price and where it should be trading, but this wont last forever. Even after writing down all the losses last Q all the bad is out these are the facts. No one is falling in love but stop talking out of your both sides or your arse. Very simple you either are long on the stock or your not. When you double speak your motives and credibility come into question.
THESE ARE THE FACTS, BOOK VALUE ISNT MADE UP TELL THAT TO YOUR MORON FREIND,WHY YOU WOULD ASK HIM FOR ADVICE I DONT KNOW. ANYONE WHO WOULD MAKE A STATEMENT LIKE THAT IS NOT OF SOUND MIND.
SELL YOUR SHARES IF YOU WANT.
HIT THE BID LOL-
FSNM CASH $165 mil in cash and cash equivalents
BOOK VALUE $3.76
$2.89 billion in assets - $2.81 billion in liabilities = 80 MILLION!!!
ISEG?
A couple of times now I've seen some very large orders come through
the market maker ISEG. They appear to be placed in order to cap a
stocks price for a period of time so they can purchase shares at a
lower rate. For example they placed this huge sell order yesterday as
ETFC was rising. The size of the sell order was enough to stop the
price from rising. But it also caused any sellers who were sitting on
the fence to immediately place their sell orders at a penny less than
the ISEG order as they figured there was no way that large order was
going to unclog the pipe anytime soon. This then caused others to put
in lower sell orders and it then starts dropping. ISEG did this a
couple of times throughout the day if I remember correctly. Enough
times to make me go hunt down some information on them.
If my quick search is correct ISEG is the International Securities
Exchange. You should read the wikipedia about the people who started
ISEG. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Securities_Exchange.
Anybody else notice this?

Cant wait for the Cockroaches and Bid whackers To leave my other stock.
Then sell and leave-
Are you kidding me? Banks rarely fail that are well capitalized, are you living under a rock? The past 2 years have been tough but if the economy recovers investors look to the future not the past. Yes and fundamental analysis does matter, if you know what something is worth then you know when you see an opportunity.
Whats Big problems does STSA have, the way i see it worst is out and coming Qs should be nothing but gravy.
The Big problem you speak of ???
The holding company losing its Tier 1 Rating, keep in mind that is not the bank. There is no deadline for the holding company to get back to Tier 1, but in my estimation we are talking about 10 mil dollars, they can do this by selling a few OREOS and wahlah back to Tier 1 rating. They won't issue shares here, keep in mind only 20 mil Os.
Assetst 80 million greater then liabilities Plus with this extra 10 mil cash should be well over 160 million now. Yea they had some bad quarters with the economy, but as a investor im looking to the future.
For those of you guys in STSA it might bounce with these other beaten down ones. Im thinking of getting back in for a trade.
It hit 6.50+ I would of shorted it to trade it, didn't want to hold the shares over the weekend because when i bought it the plan was just for a day trade, but it could be fueled by the fact there is no shares to borrow.
Not bad, no shares to borrow NLST dam I hate these brokers.
nearly $10 million in NOL to capital, improving the total risk based capital ratio by 45 basis points.
FSNM CASH $165 mil in cash and cash equivalents
BOOK VALUE $3.76
$2.89 billion in assets - $2.81 billion in liabilities = 80 MILLION!!!
Only 20 mil shares outstanding, all the bad news over priced in, with tremendous upside ahead. It's trading at a fraction of its true worth, through manipulation the stock has been driven down to fractions of its Book Value.
Market disconnects like this can't last long as the stock price will have to play catch up with improving fundamentals. News last week of the 9.8 mil should boost 4q earnings expectations and should be primed for a return to profitability in 2010.

The holding company lawyers seem to indicate in their briefs that the subsidiary savings bank was wholly owned by the seized bank. JPM got the assets of the seized bank, which included 100% of the shares of the subsidiary savings bank. According to the holding company JPM then merged the subsidiary bank into JPM but the date is not known. (This perplexes me because in order to merge into JPM, corporate documents had to be filed in the state of incorporation of the savings bank, and in the state of incorporation of JPM ..which are matters of public record). Merger papers. Why couldn't the holding company lawyers get this information? Is this one of the smoking guns? Done too fast indicating a prearranged deal with the fdic? In any event, it appears the savings bank was worth billions. So whether it was owned or not by the holding company, the holding company is still entitled to damages in the amount of the fair liquidated value of the savings bank. If owned by the seized bank, the bank bondholders get paid with remainder to the holding company. The argument about the savings bank not being in receivership is important, because the fdic has only statutory authority under paragraph 9.5 of the P and A over deposits sold through the receivership. 85% of the money in the summary judgment was in the name of the holding company at the savings bank...so the fdic has no power over it. Those deposits were outside the receivership. Neither does JPM. That is why I laugh at those who are selling me their shares at .121. With the deposit and the tax refunds, commons are in the money !!!. Everything else is gravy. GLTA.
