Ex-Dividend Dates:
When Are You Entitled to Stock and Cash Dividends
Have you ever bought a stock only to find out later that you were not entitled to the next cash or stock dividend paid by the company? To determine whether you should get cash and most stock dividends, you need to look at two important dates. They are the "record date" or "date of record" and the "ex-dividend date" or "ex-date."
When a company declares a dividend, it sets a record date when you must be on the company's books as a shareholder to receive the dividend. Companies also use this date to determine who is sent proxy statements, financial reports, and other information.
Once the company sets the record date, the stock exchanges or the National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. fix the ex-dividend date. The ex-dividend date is normally set for stocks two business days before the record date. If you purchase a stock on its ex-dividend date or after, you will not receive the next dividend payment. Instead, the seller gets the dividend. If you purchase before the ex-dividend date, you get the dividend.
Here is an example:
Declaration Date Ex-Dividend Date Record Date Payable Date
7/27/2004 8/6/2004 8/10/2004 9/10/2004
On July 27, 2004, Company XYZ declares a dividend payable on September 10, 2004 to its shareholders. XYZ also announces that shareholders of record on the company's books on or before August 10, 2004 are entitled to the dividend. The stock would then go ex-dividend two business days before the record date.
In this example, the record date falls on a Tuesday. Excluding weekends and holidays, the ex-dividend is set two business days before the record date or the opening of the market – in this case on the preceding Friday. This means anyone who bought the stock on Friday or after would not get the dividend. At the same time, those who purchase before the ex-dividend date receive the dividend.
With a significant dividend, the price of a stock may move up by the dollar amount of the dividend as the ex-dividend date approaches and then fall by that amount after the ex-dividend date. A stock that has gone ex-dividend is marked with an "x" in newspapers on that day.
Sometimes a company pays a dividend in the form of stock rather than cash. The stock dividend may be additional shares in the company or in a subsidiary being spun off. The procedures for stock dividends may be different from cash dividends. The ex-dividend date is set the first business day after the stock dividend is paid (and is also after the record date).
If you sell your stock before the ex-dividend date, you also are selling away your right to the stock dividend. Your sale includes an obligation to deliver any shares acquired as a result of the dividend to the buyer of your shares, since the seller will receive an I.O.U. or "due bill" from his or her broker for the additional shares. Thus, it is important to remember that the day you can sell your shares without being obligated to deliver the additional shares is not the first business day after the record date, but usually is the first business day after the stock dividend is paid.
If you have questions about specific dividends, you should consult with your financial advisor. You can also get information by going to your library and reading Standard and Poor's Dividend Record Binder.
RedCloudPaint - I just called again to Ameritrade, and spoke to someone else. He said that they do not have official word yet, but there is still time to get it before the 13th. My thoughts were that they should have had it already. That other guy I spoke to last time is an Idiot, I think he let me believe that it should have been posted already. This guy other guy I spoke to said, not it could be Officialy recorded on the 13th.
He also said that HISC could still move it forward, if they chose to. I don't think they will.
That one scared the cr$pp out of me.
whocares19067 - BUT Today would be the ex-date
RedCloudPaint - I just got off the phone with Ameritrade
They told me that there has NOT be an official ExRecord date set by the SEC by way of the Bloomburg Terminal. This Record date is only a Paliminary Date According To Ameritrade. According to Ameritrade there has to be an ExDividend Date, Its is NOT Officialy set by the sec.
Do you know something. THIS IS NOT A JOKE, This what the gye said
Board Call your Broaker to help conferm
starsshines4us - Oh I see, sorry.
I have said this before on this board, I am seeing that they are in Very Big Stelth Mode. They are setting up a large marketing engine. So my speculation is NOT to draw any attention to them at this point. Of course they got hit with BA's problems, and Moody's Problems, that they also had a hand in to a point.
But when they started into this uplist reversal back in January of 2005, I remember them saying that they had run into a few very big oppertunities that was significant. My speculation say's that as they went deeper into this thay saw a few avenues to go with, and tried to make their mind up, but was redirected a few times. The final deal is this massive Shell that they want to keep in Stelth Mode with.
I know that the Nextell.com is not a big issue other than it cost a good amount of money to put out a report, so stretching their dollars is an Issue. Because of BA and Moody.
starsshines4us - Hate to burst your bubble, but If I remember correctly, that has been up for approx 1.5 - 2 months

Can u send me that ither pic WayneC777@aol.com
kolchakil0 - I hear you. But What I see i this. I believe that people are forgetting a number of things.
In order to pay for things and to get this puppy off the ground, money has to flow. If you don't have money, shares come into play. Only two ways to pay for thinks. So yes we are deluted. BUT
1 - We have 15 other Catagories over Netflex.
2 - We are in London, Canada, with these Catagories, Forget the USA, we are just getting started. The Revenue from those countries can pay down the delution in itself, leaving the US det-free. I am sure that is not how the books will be kept, but the point is still Valid. When People find out GZFX is a one stop shop, ... well I am wondering why Netflix CEO Reed Hasting has sold all of his Direct shares, and is selling his Indirect shares. I think he is going to sell Netflix in approx a Year. My Speculation.
3 - Look at what JF has done so far. It takes 3 years to launch any business. We are at our 3 year mark NOW. And wew are already over a million in Rev. (My speculation on the Q3 report)...
4 - The business model in itself is the reason why we are here. Because we know that this is an awsome Modle.
5 - JF has been in Stelth Mode, he is ready to make his appearance. And If you really Look, What an Interence he is making.
kolchakil0 - Take a breather. You want it NOW! Its Not comming now. Look at business like a long train. Its very heavy and takes a long time to get it up to spead.
What r u talking about, BBI and NFLX are not partners.
kolchakil0 - You are holding on to tight bud. I understand this frustration, BUT It doesn't come when we want. It comes when ITS ready. Something this Big Will take time.
I am down 70K, I do not know what your down, But we are ALL hearting.
