I'll go out on a limb and predict that by the November meeting, nothing will have changed and we will be just as much in the dark. There will be some veiled implication of a deal if the shares are approved, and the veiled threat of imminent dissolution without it. In the end, they will get the shares and the Chinese water torture will continue for a few more years.
I'd love to eat crow on this.
MF4
GFP,
I don't have the memory, but you've taken meticulous notes. Didn't we vote for the last increase in shares (was that even a year ago?) under heavy speculation that someone wanted an equity stake? I think so.
And yet, nobody got an equity stake except BAM. They made money at our expense. The management continues to get paid. And the shareholders get screwed. I'm not giving them another nickel until they show me some progress.
MF4
My bet is Cortex does as Bigworld suggests. They will PIPE away the new shares with promising new indications. More of the same.
And just as likely, Neuro, GFP, and Jerry will speculate on the sucess of each new endeavor Cortex embarks on with promising projections.
But in the end, it will be business as usual. No partner (other than maybe a competitor that will just keep us on ice till patents expire) will emerge. More suspect clinical trials with ambiguous results.
The jig is up. We've seen this movie before and we're not buying it. The shills can try to pump it up all they want, but after 15 years, the carrot has turned brown.
MF4
GFP,
No way am I voting for this proposal. The prospect of an equity partner wanting a stake is just more carrot at the end of the stick. If enough of us vote against the proposal, they won't be able to PIPE and will be forced to sell/deal. With managements track record, I don't want them running the show anymore.
Show me the GD money already! They have sqandered everything good about the IP. Endless delays, incompetence. No communication except the R & R pony show. Now they want to double the share count, which is a double from a few years ago.
If they have a deal that is decent to existing bag-holders, then consumate the deal already. I'm sure they can do a deal without more dilution.
Give me some warrants. Let me buy some at .10 with warrants. But no, that's never an option. Always some insider gets the sweet deal, while we get screwed.
Off with their heads (kidding),
MF4
GFP,
For all of the lurkers out there, am I the only one that considers the possibility that GFP and Nuero are the paid shills and iggs is just a frustrated long like most of us?
I'm not fully committed to this, but over the years of reading the comments from the involved parties, I have to wonder some times.
MF4
Jerry,
Jesus man! Be patient for your submit to go through. 4th print of this message so far. Do you use a 2400 baud modem or something?
MF4
Didn't Neuro say that if SA results weren't announced by late Feb, he'd be surprised? If not, what was the "event" expected then?
MF4
Jerry,
If COR was willing to sell the whole thing, I bet they wouldn't settle for anything less than $3. Aquiring company might be OK with that, but they can't justify greater than a 100% premium.
If a buyout is the desired deal, my guess is aquiring company will buy COR in the open market in enough quantity to raise the sp to $1.50-$2, then publicly announce the deal with a 100% premium. It could happen in a week after both parties agree in principal.
MF4
Food4,
I don't think the share price can go much lower. It's already priced for liquidation and no good news.
If COR goes on the pink sheets, it's actually a good thing because it will be rife for manipulation and from this level, the obvious manipulation is up.
MF4
Bigworld,
Are you still sticking to your plan? at least GLD appears to be headed higher.
MF4
GFP,
You seem to be in full regalia today. Hate to burst your bubble, but my level 2 is showing large buys at the ask today. They don't even show up on the size. Looks like the MM has a standing order to soak up hundreds of thousands of shares. They're trying to be stealthy.
You might ask yourself "why"?
MF4
corwatcher,
I put in an order for 4,000. Got a partial fill on 3,000 at .263.
MF4
GFP,
I have horrible timing. That said, you can see what happens to COR-like companies when something good pops. DNDN, JAZZ. If COR does a deal with someone like SGP and SGP announces what they expect from compound X in indication Y. That's the validation I'm looking for and I think maybe the market will see that too. All it takes is one event like a partnership, or buyout with SGP actually materializing and COR could be at $10 overnight.
It doesn't matter if it's rational or not. the thing that's kept me pessimistic is nothing ever materializes. And it still might not. But, when MV says 30-45 days. That sounds like a concrete statement like I've never heard. I'm willing to risk another grand. Don't be so angry, just buy some yourself. I know you wanted to buy at .10 me too, but I'll take .26 and a good pop by Halloween. It's better than buying options.
MF4
Well, I'm a dolt because based on this statement, I bought back the 10% I sold a few months ago. As luck would have it, I paid .003 cents more per share to buy it back, in after hours. That's certainly a bad sign.
MF4
I did a sleep study for my apnea years ago. I don't relish the thought of doing it again. Some 20 odd wires were strapped to my body, mostly my head. There was a harness hanging off of me and I was in a clinical setting. It took forever to get a few hours of sleep thoughout the entire night.
But, supposedly I did fall asleep briefly and "woke up" some 120 times. That's apnea for you. I can imagine that most people just figured it wasn't worth the trouble to do it two more times. I wouldn't. Unless i knew it was to try ampakines.
MF4
probably just the Freto banditos making some quick cash.
In and out before the event.
MF4
I don't know if I can stomach another COR R&R presentation? They're all the same. I could probably write the script. And I'd wager a box of donuts that nothing about a partnership is mentioned other than the predictable "We are in late stage talks with a number of intersted parties doing DD"
Hasn't the stick dried out and broken yet? I saw the carrot on the ground a year ago.
oi vey!
MF4
Let's say SA results are ambiguous and COR doesn't get a deal. What then?
If COR had $50M in cash, what would they do with it? What would be the right strategic move at that point?
What I'm getting at is this scenario: Let's say COR issues ten warrants to buy shares at .20 for every share of record as of today. Then they do a massive dilution and sell 250M shares at .20 in a PIPE. THEN they do a 10:1 reverse split.
The result: 35M new shares. 35M warrants @$2. $50M cash.
Thoughts?
MF4
I have been in ESLR hell for almost 3 years now. I always buy at the top and sell at the bottom. I've been really wanting to sell here around $1.70 since it looks poised to set new lows. I'm holding so far, expecting that elusive profitable quarter and positive further guidance, but the macro environment sucks now too for solar.
Is anybody else confident that ESLR will be a good investment, and why?
MF4
Jerry,
The SA result will be hopelessly delayed and ambiguous, at best. SOS.
MF4
Ombow,
He's blowing smoke. Same old story, same old song and dance, my friend.
MF4
scstocks,
If COR did a reverse split, say a 5:1, their price would go to $1 and slowly drift back down to zero. Until these guys get a real agreement with a BP that will financially and aggressively back one of the compounds, this thing is toast.
Nobody dumber than us is waiting in the wings to buy into the next "story" that management can fabricate. Sadly, they will all need to find a new scam to milk soon.
MF4
enemem,
De-listing will allow Cortex to be less forth-coming with shareholders about company finances and plans. But then again, nothing from nothing leaves nothing.
MF4
Nah, at .20 on the Amex, it's basically a pink sheet anyway. It will actually probably go up over $1 because that market is more manipulated. Just be ready to bail when it rises, because it won't last.
MF4
OT to Bigworld,
I thought on Monday that the pullback had begun. But, it seems that the market's illogic just continues. Granted it's staying in a tight range so far, but it's very resiliant. I've heard some people speculate that the volume is light due to vacationers, but once Labor day is done, the sellers will be back in force. Just wondering if you've changed your position lately or are you still holding tightly? I know VXX is getting close to your bail price of $55. Lord knows, GLD is continually disappointing me. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
MF4
GFP,
The fact remains that when the FDA artifact issue came up, COR management wasted a year, supposedly proved their case, then rolled over when the FDA said "no".
IMHO, they should have fought the FDA, and made it very public. The attention on the FDA would have become a PR nightmare for them and some compromise would have been made. The upside would have been publicity for COR and Ampakines. Someone would have bought them. The public would have wanted them, and dare I say the SP would be much higher today.
Instead, management rolled over to keep the FDA in the superior role, and what good did it do? Nothing. COR is circling the bowl and all of the apologists are too. RBLATCH is spot on in his criticisms. Management was dealt a poor hand, but they couldn't have played it much worse.
MF4
Tregaron,
Ha. Cute.
MF4
Meix,
Did you miss your price? No way. Wait a month and take advantage of the 2 for 1 sale.
MF4
My 3 worst longs: GLD, ESLR and COR
Perpetual heartbreakers all three.
MF4
Haysaw,
I agree on your assessment of Cortex management. PTN has been down to .10 recently, and I believe they are topping short-term at .34 due to the Bremelanotide buzz from the Men's Journal one page story. Hell, it might have been a paid advert?
But, any press is good press. So, if on a pullback, PTN gets cheaper than COR, I will probably do a partial swap. Anything beats sitting here in Cortex waiting for signs of life.
MF4
Anybody know anything about (PTN) Palatin Technologies?
Looks like they have an encouraging ED drug that works on the limbic system. I read about it in this months Men's Journal.
It's a penny stock so it might be another bogus company like Cortex?
MF4
OT:Bigworld,
Scary stuff. I'm still half cash. When the market was bottoming, I targetted SDS for purchase at $50. It's been down to $44 recently. I nibbled. I have been under water for two weeks on an SPY call option I sold short. It finally got back to my entry point today. I don't know but the pullback may have shot its wadd today? There's so much sideline money, I can see it running to 1100 from here before a pullback. I am long some SDS, but still not fully committed to either direction.
And GLD continues to fail below my sell trigger.
I admire the size of your gamble. Good luck with it.
MF4
Bigworld,
That article makes sense of what I've suspected by connecting the dots myself. I don't know if you watch CNBC's Fast Money, but Jeff Macke kept railing on GS that they had control of the market. I've noticed that Jeff is no longer on the show.
If one doesn't at least consider the idea that everything is rigged, one'd have to be a bit naive, n'est pas?
MF4
GFP,
I figure all of the microbiologists that have recently committed suicide (yeah, right), has something to do with killing off the witnesses to an engineered pandemic. Next thing will be forced innocluations against the pandemic. They will use the military to enforce this. The innocluations will not be what they claim to be. Not sure if it will contain an agent that destroys the immune system or contains a tracking chip, or what?
I do think the globalists want to reduce the world population. Perhaps, the innoculation will just weaken immune systems? This would kill off a greater number of people with compromised immune systems such as the elderly or AIDS patients. The benefit of this would be reduced health care and social security payments, thus helping the budget problems.
Whatever it is, it's NOT the government doing what's best for the public, in general.
MF4
OT: Bigworld,
I was buying into your view all along, but now I'm hit with another idea, and was wondering what you thought? It seems to me that Goldman Sacks, otherwise known as Government Sucks is the insider trading arm of the government Tarp funds. They knew yesterday, as did Obama, that the unemployment numbers would be dropping big time (it could be argued that these numbers are doctored, but if they move the market, you have to consider them).
So my new (conspiracy) thesis is that GS will manipulate the SPY up to 1,200 (with no pullback) in order to catch people with their pants down. The reason? Because all of the recent world manipulation was only designed to get Obama elected, and his multiple agendi passed ASAP. Instead, it went too far and shut the world economy down. That was more than they wanted and now they are doing a full court press to reverse the damage. If the SPY can get to 1,200, the average citizen's wealth effect will improve and they will start spending again and the economy will get back to a reasonable level. If this can be accomplished, people will be less pissed at the government and stop paying attention to the debasement of the Constitution, which is ultimately what the globalists want.
They'd rather accomplish the incremental boil, than the instant ass-whooping we all have endured. So, maybe it takes until 2015 now, instead of 2012?
What do you think of this conspiracy theory? In this scenario, your bet on GDX and VXX would not work out well.
MF4
Jerry,
Good apnea data will be recieved just like good RD data. A big yawn. COR has no cred and no buzz. Boring management that just does what it can to collect a paycheck. Why anybody has any positive expectations from this management at this point is beyond me?
I'm only here because there's only .22 more to fall and the IP does appear to have some value. Why BP hasn't scooped it up by now is another point of bafflement?
MF4
OT:bigworld,
Futures up big this morning. Now I'm hearing talk of SPY 1,300 soon. OK. This usually happens at tops, but as I recall SPY dropped from 1200 to 800 in no time at all 18 months ago, couldn't it reverse just as fast?
It would be just like corrupt Mr. Market to engineer a two year huge dip and return from 1,500 to 666 then back up again. Are you still expecting a pullback in the market? Seems like your gold call is developing.
MF4
Medarex was one of those companies highlighted in the Barron's article I read in the early 90's that also clued me in to Cortex. I remember both CORX and MDRX(it had 5 letters) were both around $2. But, I thought Alzhiemer's was a better indication than baldness, so I went with CORX. D'OH!
My bad.
MF4
OT: Bigworld,
Thanks for your perspective. VXX is an interesting way to play a market pullback. It makes sense if you're right. I prefer SDS call spreads. I bought some September 51 and sold the 60 calls for $2 net. If the move you suggest happens, this spread will be $9 in the money. I can probably cash out before expiration for at least $6, while only risking the $2.
As usual, the problem with options is timing. That's why September gives me enough time to profit from a short pullback. Do you play with options?
MF4
OT: Bigworld:
The market seems to be wanting to set new highs. There are more yearly new highs than lows on both the NYSE and NAZ. These both seem to be bullish. You said you see a 10% correction as imminent. Are you still thinking this way?
MF4
