I of course think there is some credibility the conspiracy theory....whatever that is? I guess what I'm saying is....to what degree & how far 'n deep it goes is the big ?.
& it will always be speculation....as long as there's the need to keep things covered up...that much I can guarantee you.
Keep shackin up at home as long as ya can...doin the all the choirs is a very small price to pay..& yes, you're reading a hint of jealousy there...tho if it weren't for my step monster, it'd really be an easy call to have never of left the nest...lol
It is what it is indeed...tho that's no excuse for always wanting to seek & find out the truth.....guess that's where voter apathy comes from....the willingness to accept it all b/c there's lil we can do about it....which is exactly right where 'they' want us.
Where's UB when I need him? lol

We're all Lemmings.....some are more trusting than others tho...& that's what scares me.
Who ever said BofA was closing?
If u r referrin to the inter office memo that was rumored to be goin around approx 2 weeks ago...nope....that info was from someone else who also said to keep snoopon it just in case it was a hoax....which it seems to have been....think I also said it wasn't confirmend at the time so "who really knows?"
Anyhow....as I said, even if it is (& I aint sayin it is) a global backstop of sorts.....ya can sure see where this can easily lead to.
So go ahead & keep trusting the collective govts of the world to do good by us all.....but dont start whining as they continue to nab more & more control. & lately, it has not been a slow process at all....they've def ramped it all up...& it does not bode well for anyone (except the powers that be of course) in the long run.
Careful what ya wish for.

Haven't looked into the validity of this yet but...
was jus talkin to a neighbor who just got off the fone w/his bros in N. Carolina who said the G8 meeting that's taking place right now in Europe is proposing a 1 world banking system. To that I asked....r u sure it's not perhaps a 1 world banking system BACKSTOP? Not sure if he's sure of that....but I'll say this.....even if it's just a backstop..we can sure see where all this is going.
Like I was sayin ystrdy.....I dont even wanna think about what they'll be conjuring up this wknd across the pond. Eeessh!!

Naw....I like ta hold long..+
I got my 10% insurance already baked in...thinken I'll bail on it once it's up 50% or thereabouts....well before it doubles or triples...no need to be greedy....lol
Indeed....yapin like this is good as long as everyone keeps it all in perspective....which seems to be the status quo 'round here...good stuff.
Defending your position is most certainly appreciated for if not we'd never know the reasoning behind one's opinions & belief's.
I hear ya w/re to the rest of the major currencies being re-handicapped right along w/the greenback & I also hear ya w/re to the troubles that the other major nations are having.
I just happen to feel that all thnigs considered, I do not think the major currencies have finished finding their new ranges....& when they finally do, imo the greenback wont be quite the bmoc it once was...not even close. Sure the dow will be back....along w/all the other broader indeces around the globe...however I do feel the playing field has been in the porcess of being leveled for at least a few mos now.
When we see bear or bull moves like this, odds are we see a double top or bottom...wether it be currencies or equities....& this is why I'm sayin the greenback should at a minimum, revist the recent lows....& considering all that's goin on stateside (even handicapping for what's going on everywhere else) bailout wise....I'm thining once the majority of the new $$$ are off the presses & dry, the greenback will most likely see new lows....maybe not til a mos or 2 into the Obama's reign (yes, I think he's a slam dunk..at least more than the polls are showing) or maybe sooner...all depends on how the bailout proceeds & its' timeline which is still a pretty big unknown...these are def uncharted waters.
Enjoy your wknd...sounds like you'll be taking it easy right along w/myself....
Cheers!!

what...the conspiracy "stuff" aint in depth enuff 4 u?
you have seen Zetigeist by now, right?
dollar still tends to at least retest the bottom...& quite possibly take it out.
Not sure what is exactly meant by his timber comment however? But I will agree in that fundimentally speaking, the dollar needs to go south....I assume u r aware of the bailout & the effects that will have on everything....lol

Well if so...this would be the very 1st time that when someone like Paulson, Bush, etc spoke...it actually helped....to the contrary....& I think we're now seeing more weakness post Paulson yak....albeit my quote is a 15 min delayed....too lazy ta log in as I'm gettin ready to go out the door.

Just heard an interesting take.....
folks are gonna continue receiving thier qtrly statements over the next few days....then they'll see what's been goin on & do the bonehead thing...panic & sell...& I do find that a very possible course of action over the next 2-3 trading days.
Having said that....we jus may see a bottom by next Wed or Thurs....now thinken 7-7250....also depends on what goes on over the wknd of course....they're meetin across the pond on Sun I hear to discuss more coordinated strats so who knows what "brainiac" fixes they'll conjure up for us next?
As for today.....I think the safe call is to say that we see some selling going into the close...perhaps not quite as dramatic as we've been seein the last few days....I still think we close down over 500 tho...but it does appear here as if some of the big players are finally steepin in & nibbl'n....otherwise we'd surely be down 550-600+ imo at this stage in the day.
I'll throw my dart & say after the final trade settles we'll be in the 7950-8050K neighborhood.....but if we see sub 7950 that sure wouldn't surprise me in the least.
& I'm still thinken a 7K - 7250 bottom come middle to late next week. Looks like the very beg stages of the long awaited capitulation process has finally begun...earlier this AM when we saw sub 8k right off the bat.
& w/re to the bottom....if past performance is any indicator...we should see a double bottom...so if ya miss the 1st bottom you'll most likely getta another shot after the 1st bounce...usually w/in a month or 2 of the 1st bounce.
Off to go load the fridge up for the wknd....ck back a lil later...right around or just post US close.
Cheers!!

it's all political fodder....
gonna really make no diff whose in @ this pt....quite frankly...I'm beg ta get worried of our vulnerability now...we're so pre-occupied w/the financial crisis that would this not be an opportune time to hit us somewhere else where it really hurts? If not on U.S. soil....perhaps on U.S. interest soil abroad somewhere...don't rule it out. the govt is so cash strapped now....can ya imagine what it would do if we got pulled into yet another "conflict"
Fasten your seatbelts folks & stay warm under those covers......ok Chick'n lil punchin out....gonna go take my mind off all this & go watch a few mins of a Hispanic Soap ;)~

Hey UB...ya see the Zeitgeist addendum yet?
if so...curious as ta what ya think? I've yet to have a chance to look at it....maybe this wknd.
wondering if their demo spreads truly reflect the real McCoy?
& who here wouldn't.....
or doesn't for that matter? :0
(enter a pic ala Jester)
eur/aud 'only' down to a 20 spread now...lol
yeah....that's it....
& indeed.....PCS is def what I have....I'll most likely need to go thru the 12 step process after the lil is in 1st grade...& even at that I may have a relapse or 2 ;)~
W/re to the art gig...def a great way ta meet & hob-nob w/those who have contacts & can get ya places you'd otherwise have no chance at gettin in the door.
Work it girl!! ;))
best description I've heard yet....& the sad thing...
we can add the word 'domestic' after the word 'organized'
:(
Just got emailed a pic (maybe I'll try & take the time to post it here)....someone made a sign in front of the NYSE that read....
JUMP......you fuckers!
lol
So how's this for a brain fart....I rush'em oudda the house to get the 1st grader off to school this AM @ 8....only to get there to realize that on Weds school begins @ 9....so it was off to Sbux for a tall.....tho I did add an extra shot.......ziiinnnnggggg!!!!
Back out for the drop off....then back to try & post the pic......& I see where the dow has been all over the place this AM.....wadda messed up mrkt they've created for us.
did I see that right?.....a 30 spread @ Oanda jus now on the eur/aud? So what's it gonna be over the wknd....300 :0
Well there's the coordinated effort I was hearin about on Mon....& agreed, I was thinken a 2 x 25 cut myself....perhaps the plan is to go to 0% like Japan? J/k of course.....but man alive....this is gonna get real ugly. Agreed Nettles, I too have got that feeling that what they are now doing could put us in a depression (albeit a mild one as long as unemployment remains under 8-9%) if not handled properly....& thus far, they've given us absolutely no confidence whatsoever in the belief that they know what they are doing....scary.
cAt....really nice ta have your commentary...especially during all of this turmoil....if ya happen ta have anytime manana from approx 9a-10:45 pst....give me a holler...Tues & Thurs at that time is my kidless hr each week.
I'm thinken the dow jus may actually close down today as everyone sells into this short term flasehood of strength....wouldn't surprise me in the least. In fact that I think I'd be more shocked if we closed up or even on the day.
We're bein messed with big time....Zeitgeist didn't even think they'd be stealing it all out from underneath us this fast :0 I feel as if we're gettin mugged & then being forced ta say thank you....did anyone hear bush ystrdy? Speaking to some factory workers (dont recall exactly where or who?) tellin'em, be patient, it's gonna take some time & then tellin'em he's trying to do all that he can for them.....wadda crock....that man & his admin stole our country from us right out from underneath us all. I feel it was a very concerted effort all along....how ironic this all begins to unravel itself a few mos b4 he leaves office. He could care less if the gop's get back in (not lookin like that now)...really makes no diff anyhow whose in there at this point...the damage is done so why not let the dems try & sweep up all the road kill :0 Funny....the gop's create the mess & the dems gotta deal with it....tphhhfffttt!!!
OK....I'm gettin too riled up over BS I have no control over...at least until folks begin to see the light & get a 3rd party w/a voice in there to take out this republocrat regime that continues to screw us all right into the ground. Time to go foucs instilling some redeemable human qualities..hopefully the next generatin we're now raising will be smarter & able to see thru all the BS that we've allowed to run us into the ground for the past decade or so.
OK....so now the ? is...
here we are pretty much 30% off the Dow ath.....call it 14K. So old school says (not saying we're old school anymore as the books seem to be in the midst of bein re-written...have been for some time now) we should be at the bottom of the Bear Mrkt.
BUT....who here truly thinks we're at the bottom....or even close to it for that matter?
So where's the bottom gonna be? I've already revised my 9250-9500 call to 9k but now I'm thinken more along the lines of 8250-8500....hopefully there'll be no more revisions after that....but quite honestly I see no fundimental reason of support for this mrkt....other than value of course as there's now a ton of decent value plays out there...albeit long term.
I guess confidence needs 2 b resotred b4 we even begin discussing any kind of steady recovery....& just how on earth are they gonna do that?
If it weren't for fairly low unemployment we'd surely be in a much tighter spot.....& I guess my big fear now is (other than lowering rates) that unemployment will continue to go up.....& if that happens & gets any steam behind it......well let's just say...someone best pass me the Jack & pronto! :0
cocka-doodle-don't :0
While tryin ta get thru Sept's Currency Trader (tryin ta make room for the October rag which is out) I ran across a good article...by barbara Rockefeller...I tend ta like her pieces....anyway.....Nettles, you might enjoy it as well....about oil & how that plays into it all.
The title is "The Dollar-Oil Connection"
It begins on page 16 & finishes up on 23....but it aint really that long....there's a coupla full page ad's mixed-in there.....but the last paragraph reads....
"Because so many countries manage their exchange rates to the dollar, and because there are few enlightened and courageous centrl banks like the Bank of Korea, realistically, we should expect global inflation to stop only when the U.S. takes on the commodity price problem in the form of RAISING interest rates & other policy measures that support the dollar (such as cleaning up Fannie & Freddie & encouraging less fiscal recklessness). Be careful whom you vote for come next November."
Raising rates....not lowering them...gidde-up!!! Of course this was no doubt writen pre-bailout so I'm not sure how the author feels about that statement now....but as for me, I still think we gotta raise (as much as I would personally hate it) rates...especailly now....lowering them will only make this slope even slipperier imo.
& here's the link to the Sept issue in case ya need it...

Gotta run.....lil 1 awoke from her nap & is pissed :0
what....their Uncle (Ben) aint good enuff?
yeah...seems the current "think" tank is missing at least another chromosome or 2 :0
Gotcha.....maybe then that's their plan to muddle through the following that could be looming if not handled correctly. :0
"Preventing the Great Depression II"
http://www.thestreet.com/story/10440798/1/cramer-preventing-great-depression-ii.html?puc=_htmlttt
As long as unemployment doesn't get too oudda control we should be OK....the last depression it was around 25% so we're at least 4 x's under that mark...however I don't think it would need to necessarilly get that high to send us into one...maybe a 15% # could that? & we do have to go through many more layoffs...especially in the finance world....& if we begin to see a domino effect.....who knows where the unemployment # (aheeem, the REAL unemployment # not the one they've been tryin to sell us) will go?
I still think it's a 1/5 shot right now....but even at that, a 20% chance is scary.....& that # is nudging up bit by bit every day.
I'm not sure the bailout funds have even been appropriated yet? Aren't they now just beginning to look at resume's & assembling a team? At least that's what I think I heard last night....the Fed has requested resume's for anyone whose interested....I think they said the cutoff date for apps was this Thurs?
I believe that if we are to see any immediate relief from the bailout....it will only be psychological....& frankly, it looks as if the mrkt is too smart thus far to be conned into the belief that this bailout is a good thing...as we've been seeing.
OK...the clock is now running....for a lil less than 2 hrs I am kidless.....hehe
But to be aware of this w/re to global rates.....
even tho the US will most likely cut.....I'm hearin that it will be a concerted cut all around. I heard ystrdy that an emergency G8 was called & to take place either overnight or sometime w/in the next 24-36 hrs....the purpose of the meeting is to get everyone on the same page & do a global cut all at once. So pretty much all the major pairs will still be handicapped (rise or fall) equally. So even tho the dollar still deserves to fall & fall hard...w/everyone else cutting at the same time I'm not so sure how hard & fast it will actually fall?
Only real ? is....how much will each country be cutting? Maybe 1/2 in the US & then 3/4 in the eurozone? Who knows what they'll do?....but this is another reason for the crazy spreads I guess....no one really knows what's up & when it'll take place...so until then, ya gotta pay the piper if ya wanna play.
Still should generate some trading opps just the same...just don't walk too far away from your screen :0
Inflation sure do sound like it's gonna be gettin oudda control. Indeed these short term (at best) fixes aint gonna amt to much....'cept allow the fat cats to get out w/a few buttons left on their Pierre Cardin's.
Scalpin sure seems like the only way to go in this mrkt enviornment...but yes the spreads are a complete joke....even @ Oanda the Aus/Us is sitten at 12 right now...usually 1.8...so they are up by a lil over 6 fold...crazyness!!!
Me thinks that this is most likely for more than the usual 2 reasons (volitility & liquidity)...I would add that perhaps the retail 4x brokers are gettin a lil nervous w/re to their collective capitalizations. Tryin to beef it up a bit while the mrkts are all whacked out. Makin the few who are playin all this crazyness pay up da waaazoo.
Just a hunch....hard to imagine these spreads are solely b/c of volitility & low liquidity....usually they aren't nearly this high when the mrkt trades like this...there's gotta be somethin else to it even if I am wrong w/my hunch here.
& ya gotta expect the greenback to continue tanking....
how low will she go? Guess that's up to the big boys?
in less than 3 mos it's gone from 9800 & change to 7100 & change....yeah....I'd call that a fall.....wow!!
Anyone to my knowledge will let ya open or close over the wknd....at least MG Financial did a few yrs ago...& I know Oanda lets ya....ya just gotta pay a huge price so it's not worth it....which is why I was surprised to hear it when dpc chose to close out a position while the mrkt was closed.
If he woulda waited awhile longer the spreads woulda've come back down into favor...or at least not be wknd wide.
I know u can open & close over the wknd....
what was the spread is what I was gettin at?
Really....
not sure what u r lol'n at?
guess I better go 'lighten-up'....I musta've missed that day in class where they covered learning how to accept racial slurs & additonally finding no problems w/em.
I wasn't lol'n.....
not sure ya got my drift there...was w/re to your prejudicial comment....many other ways ya coulda gotten your pt across there....the one you chose was offensive...at least to me it was.
