Cassandra, I've trying to accomplish more since
1999 too - Have you?
RR do you care if I add to my position?
It would be alright wouldn't it?
LOL - was this something Edigital did?
"One of the main reasons that I am inclined to believe that the Ody 1000 is not DRM compliant is a previous claim of a supposed EDIG long poster on Agora who claimed "
you also said in one of your posts we shouldn't believe
what a BB poster said - why do you like to believe that
poster - yes I did see the post - so what do you like
about it?
could you repeat that?
Yow, Cassandra should love that site !
I will probably own a portable consumer electronic device using DivX produced by edigital before you can prove that they don't have one on the way. 2002? every CE mfg has delays
in project completion before you see the real thingy.
cass, tell me EDIG can't call it an operating system ...
from their WEB SITE ... go get em girl
MicroOSTM - Micro Operating System - e.Digital's proprietary MicroOS is extremely compact, full-featured and highly customizable embedded operating system designed specifically for portable digital devices. MicroOS manages data files as well as codecs, integrates security systems for content protection and handles uploading and downloading files to PCs. Important features include:
"Most devices don't make any big deal out of whatever file management technology is used."
This may become a problem for them - no glue, no washy
almost forgot thanks emit,
Cass, it's thE GLUE that is IMPORTANT!
and underlining ...
"and by working closely with e.Digital we will be able to meet that demand for the first time.
I like bold -
"This partnership is a key step in our hardware strategy to integrate DivX technology across a range of next-generation convergence devices," said Jordan Greenhall, CEO and co-founder of DivXNetworks. "Our enthusiastic user base has been clamoring for hardware solutions that leverage the power of DivX video, and by working closely with e.Digital we will be able to meet that demand for the first time. e.Digital's demonstrated capabilities in product development, manufacturing and supply chain management, life cycle support and growing retail presence provides us with an opportunity to bring state-of-the-art technologies to market in a series of absolutely cutting-edge products.
cass - has that 7-1/2 year old file management
system been duplicated by someone else?

owd3, you are nagging - your words "If only they did work with EDIG?? Why do you suppose they do not do that? They clearly sell HDD players from Apple and Creative right now, they are about to re-badge a Creative, yet no EDIG in sight!!!"
-- you are so sure that they are about rebadge a Creative
player ... you have no proof that they are ...
Corporate Profile
e.Digital Corporation, based in San Diego, California, licenses its line of patented hardware and software technologies for use in a wide variety of digital audio devices, and offers custom product design, manufacturing services, and other related services to its OEM customers. e.Digital's specialty is developing computer-compatible portable products utilizing its patented MicroOSTM. Applications for this technology include personal MP3 players, digital video products, voice recorders, dictation devices, automotive infotainment/telematics systems, and home audio components and accessories. The company provides custom product development solutions for major OEMs connecting portable devices to the Internet and local networks, and integrates new technologies and new storage media into products for its OEM customers.
In addition to its OEM business, e.Digital includes a Consumer Electronics Business Unit that launched a line of e.Digital-branded, portable digital audio products in November 2001. Its MXP 100 Classic, MXP 100 Sport, and TREÓ digital audio players are sold through the e.Digital online store at www.edigital-store.com and/or at consumer electronics retailers throughout the United States.
The company created the first portable product to include a user-independent speech recognition interface. Developed with technology from Lucent, e.Digital’s VoiceNavTM technology has an extensive English language dictionary and can recognize spoken words, names, and sounds not in the dictionary through the use of phonetics. VoiceNav technology has application in a variety of portable products and is also being designed into automotive infotainment/telematics systems.
The company’s technology, including its MicroOSTM and VoiceNavTM user-independent speech recognition interface, enables automotive OEMs and ODMs to incorporate additional features and successfully meet safety objectives in automotive telematics and infotainment solutions. Automotive telematics is the wireless exchange or delivery of communication, information, and other content between the auto and/or occupants and external sources. The Strategis Group, a research firm, predicts that 84 percent of new cars sold in 2004 will feature some form of telematics equipment, and Forrester Research estimates that telematics will become a $20 billion industry worldwide by 2006.
The company is an innovator in utilizing flash memory for digital voice, audio, image, video and data recording, storage, computer interface and playback. Commencing in 1993, its engineering group has led the conversion of audio signals from analog to digital, created a new class of digital-memory-based consumer products, and completed successful projects linking handheld audio recorders to the PC and the Internet.
Based on its experience implementing flash memory into portable applications, the company expanded its OEM designs and branded products to incorporate the latest storage media such as IBM’s Microdrive, SanDisk’s CompactFlash, Secure Digital Card, embedded miniature hard disk drives, and DataPlay digital storage media.
e.Digital is a member of the SD Association and an inaugural member of the IBM VoiceTIMES alliance which was established to develop standards for voice technologies in handheld mobile devices.

"Furthermore, I believe that many of the PRs and statements made by management have been more speculative than factual as most of the schedules and expectations failed to be actualized."
How about your statements (what you believe) about the lack of liquidity in the trading of EDIG shares surely 6-700 thousand shares daily demonstrates how accurate you are ...
It will play them if you say the right thing.
the next generation will be able to read lips so
be careful what you say.
I heard the O1000 can hold 30 months of songs with the
new 100 gig hard drive ... LOL
he wishes he was ...
Is that the entire document describing the patent?
And FOX can afford to pursue the thieves.
Can't wait till EDIG has the bucks to go after
those deserving of prosecution.

"Conceivably, these systems could move out and "payback" the cost of the unit pretty fast...assuming the cost of the movies is not too high (or other content)..
and if it "takes off" - excuse the pun, then the ad revenue can support the maintenance..etc. and provide greater profits down the road."
assuming everything moves rather quickly, wouldn't the cost
per unit eventually be lowered enough to market the device to
the individual consumer?
