Diversified Ethanol A Subsidiary of Originally New York Inc Nearing Completion of First Plant Ahead of Schedule
Thursday November 9, 8:30 am ET
CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Diversified Ethanol Corporation, a subsidiary of Originally New York, Inc. (OTC BB: ONYI - News) has announced that it is nearing completion of its first plant, which is the original award-winning Butterfield Plant officially called the A70, with numerous updates and improvements.
Even after completion, ethanol plants typically require several weeks of set-up and tuning to operate at capacity, as well as alcohol permits. Typically, permits come before the plant is complete. This plant, however, was assembled ahead of schedule. Company execs are excited to have put together a plant faster than the time it takes to get permits. Because the company is ahead of schedule, it will build a second A70 plant instead of laying-off workers until construction of the A500 begins on January 3, after a real estate closing.
The company will begin assembling the second A70 plant, which it anticipates it will use for research and development for cellulose and fruit waste research and development. The company expects the new A70 to take much less time to build.
CEO Taylor Moffitt said, "The small plants we offer will fill a big need in the industry. California just passed more good legislation, and we have more environmentalists in office now than ever before. Small plants are good for food waste, good for cellulose, good for research and development, and good for remote areas. We are preparing to produce these Henry Ford style, in mass production. Every plant we produce will be built more efficiently than the last. Because it is a reliable, standardized design, we will be able to produce ethanol plants like they have never before been produced."

James Monroe Capital Pursuing $16 Million Stock Dividend
Wednesday November 8, 8:30 am ET
CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--James Monroe Corporation (Pink Sheets:JMCP - News) decided in a meeting of its directors that the company is going to pursue paying a stock dividend to its shareholders. The company has engaged counsel to review state statutory requirements for the issuance of the dividend, whether the company qualifies for an issuance, and other compliance matters. The directors would like to issue 22,886,190 shares of common stock of Originally New York, Inc. ("ONYI") that the Company received earlier this year as consideration for the purchase of some assets. This would translate to approximately 1 share of ONYI for every 2000 shares of JMCP, or for every $100 worth of JMCP a shareholder would get roughly $350 worth of ONYI, based on Tuesday's closing prices.
The stock is unregistered and accordingly would be restricted. Restricted stock cannot be sold for a period of time, such as a year or two. This protects shareholder value. Following the holding period, restricted stock is also subject to selling limits proportionate to the size of the company. This also helps to protect share prices.
James Monroe Capital President Chris McGovern said, "As we have said all along, we are here to serve the interests of our long term shareholders. We are interested in long-term, aggressive growth. We will keep everyone informed of our progress with this new pursuit to the fullest extent possible."
ONYI has a subsidiary, Diversified Ethanol Corporation, with a web site that is www.diversifiedethanol.com. The Company is in the business of constructing and manufacturing ethanol plants for resale and for its own use. ONYI is developing a new web site, which will closely resemble www.jamesmonroecapital.com. McGovern, who is also the President of ONYI, has committed to issuing press releases to keep the public informed of news and events as ONYI steps-up efforts.

Fire official gives Ohio green light for ethanol
Friday, November 03, 2006
John Funk
Plain Dealer Reporter
The Ohio fire marshal has issued a temporary policy allowing filling stations to sell the ethanol-gasoline blend called E85 without violating the state fire code.
Such pumps have technically been illegal since early last month, when Underwriters Laboratories pulled its approval of the dispensers until it develops new standards and tests - a process that could take months or even years. All state fire codes require that gasoline pumps carry UL approval.
Late Thursday, State Fire Marshal Stephen Woltz said his agency will consider applications for a variance on that requirement until July 2009 if:
Manufacturers of pumps certify the dispensers are compatible with ethanol blends and are not public hazards. Other states modifying their fire codes have made the same requirement.
The dispensers comply with National Fire Protection Association standards for pumping E-15, the blend of 15 percent ethanol. UL has not pulled its approval of such pumps.
Pump manufacturers seek approval from UL or other testing agencies for pumps designed to dispense E85 exclusively. UL is already testing such equipment.
Ohio's change follows similar revisions in Michigan, Minnesota and Iowa. It came as UL wrapped up two days of hearings at its headquarters near Chicago to come up with new E85 standards.
Only specially modified cars, called "flex fuel" vehicles, can burn E85.
The Bush administration has urged the use of E85 because the ethanol is distilled from homegrown corn rather than oil and burns cleaner. U.S. carmakers have pledged to produce more flex fuel cars.
Existing E85 pumps at more than 1,000 stations across the nation are modified gasoline pumps.
Over the last decade, UL has approved modifications that manufacturers made to convert those pumps. The upgrades included replacing soft metals like aluminum with stainless steel and replacing ethanol-soluble rubber and some plastics with tougher materials.
But UL pulled its approval of these components after it began testing an all-new pump designed exclusively for E85, because its engineers began to worry that the standards they used to test the parts might not have been stringent enough. UL conceded, though, that it knew of no corrosion problems with pumps that had been modified to handle E85.
Of the 14 stations in Ohio selling E85, three shut down their pumps. The Columbus fire marshal ordered two shut in that city. The department's fire marshal office did not return calls Thursday. Marathon Oil pulled the plug on E85 pumps at a Speedway station in Hilliard. A spokesman said the company would review the fire code modifications.

Iran offers cash to U.S. tourists
POSTED: 5:53 a.m. EST, November 1, 2006
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- Iran will offer cash incentives to travel agencies to encourage Western tourists to visit the country, giving a premium for Americans, the official Islamic Republic News Agency reported.
The Islamic republic's political leadership has been trying to reach out to ordinary Americans to show that a standoff over Iran's nuclear ambitions is with the Bush administration -- not U.S. citizens.
The latest initiative comes as the United Nations Security Council deliberates a draft resolution that would impose sanctions on Iran for its disputed nuclear program.
"Iran's tourism department will pay $20 per person to those who attract European or American tourists to the country," the agency on Tuesday quoted Mohammed Sharif Malakzadeh, deputy head of the department, as saying.
Visitors from other countries would earn travel agents $10 per tourist, Malakzadeh said.
Last week, Iran's fiercely anti-U.S. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad expressed opposition to a bill that would require Americans to be fingerprinted on arrival in Iran.
The bill, which passed a preliminary reading in the Iranian parliament earlier this month, was drafted by conservatives who sought to retaliate for U.S. requirements that Iranian visitors be fingerprinted. It has not been debated yet.
The U.S. measure, which also applies to nationals of some other countries, was implemented in 2002 in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington.
In an earlier attempt to reach out to Americans, Ahmadinejad in January proposed the resumption of direct commercial flights between Iran and the United States, which were halted more than 25 years ago.
The United States and Iran have not had diplomatic relations since Iranian militants stormed the American Embassy in Tehran in 1979.
The atmosphere between the two countries improved marginally under former President Mohammad Khatami, who encouraged sports and cultural exchanges, but it deteriorated after the Sept. 11 attacks, when President Bush declared that Iran belonged to an "axis of evil" with Iraq and North Korea.
Since taking office last year, Ahmadinejad has widened the gap with Washington by taking a hard-line position on Iran's nuclear program and calling for Israel's destruction.

Windows Firewall Can Be Disabled Robert McMillan, IDG News Service
Mon Oct 30, 7:00 PM ET
Hackers have published code that could let an attacker disable the Windows Firewall on certain Windows XP machines.
The code, which was posted on the Internet early Oct, 29, could be used to disable the Windows Firewall on a fully patched Windows XP PC that was running Windows' Internet Connection Service (ICS). This service allows Windows users to essentially turn their PC into a router and share their Internet connection with other computers on the local area network (LAN.) It is typically used by home and small-business users.
The attacker could send a malicious data packet to another PC using ICS that would cause the service to terminate. Because this service is connected to the Windows Firewall, this packet would also cause the firewall to stop working, said Tyler Reguly, a research engineer at nCircle Network Security, who has blogged about the issue.
"Once the firewall is down, where's your line of defense?" he said today in an interview.
Is An Attack Likely?
By knocking off the Windows Firewall, a criminal could open the door to new types of attacks, but there are a number of factors that make such an attack scenario unlikely, Reguly said.
For example, the attacker would have to be within the LAN in order to make the attack work, and, of course, it would only work on systems using ICS, which is disabled by default. Furthermore, the attack would have no effect on any third-party firewall being used by the PC, Reguly said.
Users can avoid the attack by disabling ICS, Reguly said. But this will also kill the shared Internet connection.
A Solution
An easier solution, may be for ICS users to simply move their networks onto a router or NAT (Network Address Translation) device, said Stefano Zanero, chief technology officer with Secure Network SRL. "They are so cheap right now, and in many cases they offer better protection and a easier administration of your LAN," he said via instant message.
Windows XP appears to be the only platform affected by this attack, which has not been successfully reproduced on Windows Server 2003, Reguly said.
Microsoft's initial investigation into the matter "has concluded that the issue only impacts users of Windows XP," the company's public relations agency said Monday in a statement. "Microsoft is not aware of any attacks attempting to use the reported vulnerability or of customer impact at this time."
Lebanon war puts damper on Israeli pot smokers Tue Oct 31, 1:26 PM ET
JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israel's recent war with Lebanese Hezbollah guerrillas has sent cannabis prices sky high in the Jewish state. Boosted security on the Lebanon frontier brought a drastic reduction in drug smuggling, with the cost of cannabis in Israel up eight-fold, the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported on Tuesday.
Smoking and selling cannabis are illegal in Israel. Trafficking from Egypt has also been curbed by Israeli patrols aimed at preventing Palestinians from smuggling in arms.

NASA says will repair Hubble space telescope By Andy Sullivan
58 minutes ago
GREENBELT, Maryland (Reuters) - NASA said on Tuesday it would extend the life of the Hubble Space Telescope until at least 2013 in a decision that involves a potentially risky space shuttle mission.
A space shuttle will make one final maintenance trip, tentatively in 2008, to the orbiting telescope even though astronauts will not be able to take shelter on the International Space Station if something goes wrong, NASA Administrator Michael Griffin told cheering scientists at the Goddard Space Flight Center outside Washington.
"The desire to preserve a truly international asset like the Hubble Space Telescope makes doing this mission the right course of action," Griffin said.
Hubble is considered by some scientists to be the most important astronomical instrument ever, capturing images of star birth and death, detecting planets outside our solar system and snapping eye-catching visions of the Milky Way and other galaxies. It has also examined the atmosphere of an extrasolar planet and helped determine the age of the universe.
Scientists say the 16-year-old orbital observatory would function for only two or three more years without repairs.
The U.S. space agency had planned a fifth servicing call to the telescope to install two new science instruments and to replace spent batteries and faulty steering gyroscopes.
But NASA canceled the trip after the shuttle Columbia was destroyed and its seven crew members killed shortly before landing in 2003.
Safety upgrades put in place since then call for shuttle astronauts to stay aboard the International Space Station if they find their shuttle has been damaged. Crews heading to Hubble's orbit, however, cannot reach the station.
Griffin said a second shuttle would be ready to launch if a Hubble repair crew runs into trouble. There are no guarantees a rescue mission would work, however.
"We all as a nation know now that flying the shuttle carries more risk than we would like," Griffin said.
Cancellation of the Hubble servicing drew harsh public criticism and NASA later vowed to reconsider its decision.
The shuttle fleet will be retired in 2010 and NASA needs at least 14 more flights to finish building the $100 billion space station, a project of the United States, Russia, Europe, Japan and Canada.
Chocolate Candy Helps Get Rid Of Bacteria 2 hours, 40 minutes ago
Most children love candy, so a pediatric dentist says parents should have a strategy to prevent cavities.
Dr. Kaneta Lott said it's important to separate the good stuff from the bad stuff.
"But I would also, after the child goes to sleep, I'd get rid of half of it," she said.
Lott added that gooey, sticky and hard candies are the most damaging.
"What's bad is anything that is going to take a long time to eat or would be very sticky and would stay in the grooves or in between the teeth for a long, long time," she said.
To keep this from happening, Lott recommends they eat chocolate instead because it dissolves more quickly.
"They have tannins in chocolate," she said. ?The tannins are actually anti-bacterial, therefore they kind of get rid of some of the bacteria that's in our mouths."
She added that too much bacteria can lead to cavities. Because of this, dentists recommend flossing and brushing after meals.
