At least they didn't call ben a "rock star" like they did after the first emergency cut to the discount rates.
Although, if he had hair to grow, he might look a little like dave grohl?

I just came up with the plan to save the economy:
1. Simply declare that we now own Iraq.
2. Sell Iraq to exxon for a trillion dollars.
3. Exxon floods the market with oil, bringing prices down to 40.00 per barrel.
4. The us pays off on trillion of the deficit.

Whoopeee, your redneck compatriots in NC can all get new mudflaps, a nice gun rack, and a "new" beat up old sofa for the front yard.

They're looking for a quick fix and counting on the stupidity of the american public. Oh look, some free money showed up, let's go buy something. Sudden cash injection into the economy by the stupid consumer.
What people SHOULD do is take that "free" money and pay off credit card debt. But the gov is counting on the stupidity of those who will just go buy stuff.
The problem is, so it helps one quarter. The gov is hoping that they help out a weak quarter, and the economy picks up on its own by the next quarter, which it won't.
Because all the stupid americans who spent their "free" money will now be right back in the same spot, just three months later, with credit card debt and no home equity to refi off of to buy stuff.

uh oh eom

If we go into recession, load up on AAPL puts. All those pricey consumer gadgetry products are gonna have to last a few years, and IMO, their sales will plummet. Itunes ain't gonna keep them in the growth phase, and neither will their set top boxes.

AAPL's not having a good day, huh. eom
Watching INTC for a starter, very long term.

On you're preferred phasing, you're counting march '03 as the last 4.5 yr low? 7 weeks out would put us at 5 years for the 4.5 year low? Cycle running 6 months long?
Wouldn't all of the longer cycles within the current 4.5 yr. need to be running long for that length to be valid?

No, definitely not the nas, but apple will save the day for the qqqq by posting spectacular earnings on their crappily made, overpriced, totally unecessary, over marketed to teen products.
Buzz
I'm not so sure. Have you seen their financials?
ES just filled the gap from Friday's close at 1325.eom
But you typically have 3 to 5 days, so you're out of the call the next day (unless you sold intraday)
Buzz
Besides, what makes you thing there's going to be margin calls. I'll bet the dow closes green.
buzz
If there's anyone left on margin in this market, then they're just fuckin stupid.
I clear with alaron for futs and they raised to full margin per contract last week, even for daytrading (2500 per contract instead of 500).
Buzz
As opposed to the margin calls from last week, LOLOLOL?
