Gay/Lesbian Nets Cast for Talent
By Simon Applebaum
The launch of MTV Networks' Logo on June 30 means there are now three networks that need to be sure gays and lesbians are well represented in their workforces--the others being here! TV and Q Television Network.
"We have to grow a culture where what we do at work reflects the diversity we put on the screen," says here! TV general manager Karen Flischel. Of the 25 staffers at here!, 45% are gay or lesbian, Flischel says. Search firms, job banks and specialty newspaper ads are used to attract gay and lesbian talent. The network also offers same-sex partner insurance.
At Q, 50 of its 73 employees are gay or lesbian. Q relies on gay/lesbian news organizations and websites to recruit talent, and consults with GLAAD, the advocacy organization representing gays and lesbians. Workplace benefits include partner insurance and an on-site doctor. "That's healthy for a good workplace relationship," says Q CEO Frank Olsen.
MTV Networks e-mailed a statement that noted that it recruits "without regard to...sex, gender expression."

Ah! I guess I was thinking more about the capability than the content, tho Im sure Katuko(sp) who posted it on the market watch board meant no harm....I haven't seen a huge amount of his post but for the most part, he seems pretty positive. And if I ever obtain a didgital camera, I might just try some signature thing on my post.
Butas I said before, Im not all that computer oriented....though I sure can type a mean email...
Diamond..thanks for the kudos..but I really didnt create that! However, I did put it in my favorites so I could try my own hand at it...its a website called DFilm...I paint, oils, and I have an appreciation of fine art as well...but I am more adept on a canvas than I a on a computer...but give me time, I will do one for Ihub...(I actually already created one, but I accidently erased it..hee hee what did I tell you)... Qbid rules and Frank will succeed with or without us! And once more I have spent more time playing on the pc then I should have.... cookouts await! Oh yes, Im not a young man...female persuasion and unfortunately not very young either.....have a great holiday!
Well if spelling is an issue, then a good deal of you are pretty "poor".... what the hey? You continuously undermine each other and call each other names and then criticize when someone is trying to lighten up, poor taste or not.... I didn't create it but apparently whoever did has alot of time on their hands like a good percentage of those who post on this board...sorry if it offended you, but I think you should take it in the context that it was posted.... not in intent6 to be a basher as you call it but the fact that someone could even create such on their pc...like I said, Im not an expert....
so it may be...but I am impressed that you can do it at all...but then Im not an animation expert or a techi so what do I know..... maybe it just doesn't take much to entertain me which is why I read this things in the first place...lol
OH YEAH...from market watch message board....
Uh...anyone seen THIS?

Mona...arent you in Germany? Have you seen anything of the Q their? Advertisements or any snippet of info? They had a pride parade that was filmed, right? Just curious if there has been any indicators....
This is old...from 2003.. Q is mentioned somewhere down the list, but the whole thread is reaction to a "new gay network" ...and some of it is hilarious, some of it thoughtful, but all of it is from a point of view other than investors. Thought it might be an interesting read.....
Q Television is client as well as global Television and Fox...note that it says worldwide on the Q info.....
http://www.featurestorynews.com/pages/7/
Jacques...I dont really remember except that I think I put in the search engine "Q Television Network airs in Hawaii"... I think... and you are right, it came thru as text message. I need to find out how to get around that....
jacques.... Union bank had this pr listed under its commercial segment.... it showed up on their website, but didnt print heading and sidebar..... I am assuming that since it was listed on their website under "commercial" that Q television is their client... nothing earthshaking as I am sure that they do have a bank (Q) but it may something to spot check in the future......
could this be the Q banK?

adding sentence to quote in third graf, should read "Q Television is the only linear GLBT network in the country offering live programming, 24/7 shows and it is gay television for the gay community by the gay community," added Olsen. (sted "at least that," added Olsen)
The corrected release reads:
TRIANGLE MULTI-MEDIA BUYS BACK 3% OF ITS OUTSTANDING SHARES
Triangle Multi-Media, (Pink Sheets:QBID) announced today that the network will buy back 3% of its total outstanding shares. This buy back will begin immediately.
"Our financial consultants feel this buyback is the right move based upon the undervalued price per share," says Frank Olsen, President and CEO of Q Television Network.
"Market analysts have been quoted as saying the GLBT television market is worth 3 to 5 billion dollars, and we feel our current capitalization should be at least that. Q Television is the only linear GLBT network in the country offering live programming, 24/7 shows and it is gay television for the gay community by the gay community," added Olsen.
About Q Television Network

The company's programming will be available on a subscription basis to those desiring its programming. The network will broadcast 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Providing distribution via satellite ensures availability of the network across the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Q Television Network is the Network for the Gay Games VII. Goodnight all and may tomorrow bring the news we have been waiting for....
I would love to go to gay days in Orlando just to see whats up with Q... but the one time I go out of state is during that time frame....
Not complaining, just wondering....
If they were strictly a gay movie channel or something of the sort, I would still expect to see a mention of attendance ...just think its rather odd....
Have you ever seen Logo mentioned as covering any of these events? Dont you think it a little odd for a network who is supposed to launch by the end of this month not to appear at any of these functions? Am I right or have I just missed those......
June 1st..oh I could so love that....
Thats true.......
Of course not, but I wonder from past accomplishments if he would not be thinking of the "next" venture when he is satisfied with the outcome of the current task...
Well good day all, heres hoping Frank proves us right soon.... Id like to see Boston and Salem and that part of the world myself some day....
Do you think when al is said and done, which will be a while Im sure, that Frank will sell and start another venture? I know the indian network was mentioned in the past, but this would seem to be such a major for him personally that I would think it would be hard to let go....
Absolutely... I think success may come to the Q because unlike Viacom, they don't have anyone to answer to other than themselves and the shareholders.... its unlikely that Frank is going to be swayed by any coalition, christain or otherwise...the advertisers are coming TO them...not threatening to drop out....
Yeah..you have to wonder just whos money is behind it...that Logo rumor may not be true, but someone sure has an open wallet...
hmmmm...... was that BEFORE the mushroom harvesting or after...hee hee.....
Im kind of slow Skunks... I passed by my neigbors house six times one day and never realized that it was being burglarized...I even saw the big screen TV sitting in front of their house and thot that it was being sent to be repaired or something....it was rather hard to explain why I couldnt tell them what kind of vehicle it was they were cramming stuff into.....
You got it....I do not have the experience that you have had but I think in my case I just realize that Rome wasnt built in a day.... in some ways we are luckey Skunks because we have gotten to "watch" from the beginning... or almost the beginning for me.... weird thing is, when I first saw this stock at .0001, I was so sure it was going to fly...I had no thots otherwise...
Ha! Florida is 2nd in the nation I believe in cows... with Wisconsin coming in first? Is that right DK? I know we are the horse capitol of the world..... and it beats dodging bullets... hee hee...
Okay DK..the mushroom harvesting in cow pastures is understood, but where does the cow tipping come in and just how do you do that????
yep...I just knew then the very next month that it would take off like a rocket.. (pps) and I would be rich, but that also shows my ignorance in what it actually took to make this work...I guess thats why I have absolutely nothing "bad" to say about Frank... I just get amazed everytime a new brick is added....
Charlt....thats true of most things, but you have to admit that what has taken place in the last year is impressive...and you have to admit that Frank has been tenacious... not many would keep trying after so many dead ends... you know he has had to have some rough times himself...I am not as long as Skunks and probably you but Ive been in for a couple of years and remmember jumping for joy that something appeared in the news in a 3 month time frame....
Hello all....Nss... I think that says more about the future of Q in a nutshell...if a university sees Frank as a role model for diversity and as a businessman worthy of recognition ...who are we to say otherwise? It just makes me realize even more that we are a part of something special...in my opinion of course....
