TRADER - Brand new terminology and analysis..
at least for me.
Still holding.. tentatively.
and nervously.
So you guys are saying, Motherhood, Apple
Pie, and GE is no longer the American
theme? [and I am not referring to
motherhood and pie.. which are already
down the tubes]
3 MORE DAYS.. like this.. and I will be...
back to even.
Here's Culp's report to investors today:
GE Chief Larry Culp Spoke Directly to Stakeholders. Here's What He Said. -- Barrons.com
3:38 pm ET April 17, 2020 (Dow Jones) Print
By Al Root
General Electric CEO Larry Culp published a letter on LinkedIn Friday, touting what the company is doing to battle the Covid-19 pandemic. But he also revealed several tidbits about the company that could help investors make a decision about the beleaguered stock.
On GE's declining power division
"GE is responsible for one-third of the world's electricity," wrote Culp early in his missive. That's an impressive number. GE's (ticker: GE) power division, however, has been struggling lately because the world is moving away from coal-based electricity generation.
Culp restructured the division in 2019 and is focused on cutting costs at GE Power. What's more, the company has a renewable power franchise. Renewable power is a smaller business and power, overall, remains tough. Competition and falling demand doesn't make any portion of the power business easy right now.
GE Power reported $18.6 billion in sales during 2019. Operating profits from the division were $386 million. In 2016, for comparison, Power generated almost $36 billion in sales and $4.2 billion in operating profit.
The decline is substantial. Investors are well aware of the struggles. GE stock averaged about $28 a share in 2016, roughly 300% higher than recent levels.
On GE's profitable aviation division
"GE Aviation powers two-thirds of the military aircraft around the world, " Culp said in his letter. Aviation is GE's largest and most profitable business.
The problem for GE's aviation division is the commercial aerospace downturn resulting from the pandemic. Covid-19 fallout has hammered GE stock and all other shares tied to aerospace. GE shares are down about 40% year to date. Aerospace suppliers Barron's tracks are down about the same, on average. Boeing (BA) shares, the company at the top of the aerospace supply chain, are off about 54% in 2020.
Only 40% of the global commercial aircraft fleet is in service. The rest are parked because no one is flying. That's not good for new orders of the service business.
Defense can't solve all Aviation's Covid-induced problems. Defense sales represent about 13% of the total GE Aviation business. Still, it offers some cushion. The defense business is stable and GE has high market share.
On GE's Covid-19 initiatives
Regarding Covid-19, Culp spelled out a number of initiatives including the production of face shields with the company's 3-D printing technology as well as ventilator production. Both good things.
Investors have a decision to make regarding GE stock when the economy starts back up. The size of the commercial aerospace industry in the future is key. But defense and power still matter and will influence GE stock value in the future.
GE stock was up 8.3% Friday in midday trading against a 2.3% and 2.1% rise in the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500, respectively.
Many aerospace stocks, including Boeing, are up too. Any good news for the overall economy tends to boost the sector more than the overall market because travel related stock have been hit harder by the pandemic than most others.
Why can't NIO stock be like TSLA? The more money
they lose the higher the stock goes.
TSLA stock price currently is basically at infinity.
The 737 Cancellation should erase about $5 billion..
from the loss side of whatever any earnings
report might have been.
Or might be.
THIS should be worth at least a $dollar for the stock:
"GE's aircraft leasing unit cancels almost half its outstanding order for Boeing 737 MAX jets, dropping commitments for 69 undelivered planes. "
NIO 3.33 (up .10) AH
6.62 right now
2018 report.. shows to be quite a prophet..
hopefully for a profit in NIO.
WHO'S SMART? Buyer? OR Seller? PS- Tesla
is now worth 3 GEs. Never made a dime in
15 years.
Tesla puts Tulips to shame. eom
NIO needs to start losing more money faster..
so they can be as valuable as TSLA.
It's a money-losing battle that TSLA is "winning".
With $100,000,000,000 valuation.
COMMIES? What's more communistic than getting
checks for $1200.. and being paid unemployment
by govt of $2400/month? It's too bad taxes are
paying it and not the Bazillionaires. who
made most of their money off govt pork
barrel deals.
THAT explains why Tesla continues to
skyrocket.. while GM, etc drop.
All electric cars by 2040.. or sooner.
BATTERY SWAP? It should be quite easy to
keep up with increased battery technology at
(with) the swap stations.
Almost a no-brainer.
FOR CHINA: It's either China or Tesla. It can't be
both. But Tesla is more valuable (powerful) than all
the China cars added together.
And getting more valuable.
WHY? HOW?
OUCH!!! GE stock price target cut to $7 from $14 at CFRA
So a couple of table spoons of lemon juice and cider..
to ward off bad things.
Maybe with a dab of salt and some tequila.
(do you time lime would suffice for the lemon?)
PS
Moon, you sure do leave us with a lot
to think about!
And Wuhon! Heck, it's like it never
even happened in wink of an eye - split
second.
Spot - Report is a year old. Not saying
NIO's not a good stock. Company.
Moonboy, kudos to your cure!!! Doesn't mean
NIO doesn't make a nice car. Just as nice as TSLA.
Nicer!
If Cramer says that it means...
it does have value.
Yup. Just bought a few more shares. eom
DELIVERIES UP 117%
Shares of Nio Inc - ADR ADR Class A (NYSE: NIO) were advancing Tuesday after the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer released March delivery figures.
Nio said it delivered 1,533 vehicles in March, up about 116.8% from February. The March numbers comprise 1,479 ES6s and 54 ES8s.
The company attributed the strong month-over-month gains to recovering production capacity.
First-quarter deliveries came in at 3,838 vehicles, 9.7% more than the midpoint of the guidance.
In its fourth-quarter earnings release, the company guided to deliveries of 3,400 to 3,600 vehicles in the first quarter.
This compares to deliveries of 8,224 in fourth quarter of 2019.
As of March 31, 2020, cumulative deliveries of ES8s and ES6s totaled 35,751.
"In parallel with our continued online sales efforts, our in-store visits have also witnessed a gradual pickup. With the continuous support from our loyal user community, we have seen increasing order backlog since February," CEO William Li said in a statement.
Nio said it plans to commence deliveries of the all-new ES8 with more than 180 improvements in April.
The company also said it remains committed to rolling out NIO Spaces and integrating online and offline sales channels to further boost order growth.
The EV maker has also embarked on measures to contain costs in a bid to boost the bottom line. Recently, the company announced reorganization at its electric power engineering department.
NEVER IN HISTORY Has Buy on rumor.. sell
on news worked "better". It's like the market HATES
GE getting $20,000,000,000.
What is QE? eom
Great information... pictures show a lot!
I like the NIO logo better. Not a whole lot
different tho.
A lot better than a lot of car logos. IMO.
JPet, excellent response. The theory would be tht
if we don't get a substantial bump in stock price when
DHP Pharm deal is announced, then the deal was built
into the price. If it wasn't/isn't built in we
should get a substantial increase in stock price.
Albeit there are "only" about 22 other factors
we have to be aware of. More.
Let's hope that Pharm sale wasn't already
built into the price. Unlike the Biblical
unemployment Explosion apparently was.
THat doesn't quite look like the NIO logo on
the front??? Close but different.
Gonna buy more at $7 this time. eom
UNEMPLOYMENT? Everybody knows the brutal numbers
are coming tomorrow. Is it built into the market..
or will market take GE down with it.
Even with Danaher dealing pending.
Right now pre market not looking too bad.
But actual market could look like a cliff
when report is officially announced.
The China Province.. the size of most countries.. is
taking them in as a long lost friend.
Loyalty is a big thing in China.
I admire the ambiance of NIO boss way beyond
that antediluvian pipsqueakishness of TSLA boss.
This guy's marketing shows a sophistication that
frumpy TSLA can only dream of having.
For instance - just 1 of MANY:

AND:

Been watching WSTI since about 2014 when
scam artist Musk got his picture involved
on front page of some magazine.
Hard to believe I paid $2/share for some
of this. Then on 2nd scam around I
got hoodwinked again.
Will likely check in here now and then
and see if a 3rd scam shows up.
Not whining... just sayin'...
And could announce completion of sale
for $20 Billion any moment now!!
Or is some of that built into this
horribly dilapidated stock price?
ASTOUNDING!!!! Thanks for sharing. Buying more. eom
DEW - About 2 months and virus problem's over..
in China. Why can't U.S. recover as quickly?
We dropped interest rates to 0%.
China stopped at 3%.
NIO should be okay!!!
DEW, That is an amazing differential between cost
with electricity versus paying for gas. About
10 to 1 improvement!
Malaria pills? I took some when I was in Africa
many nears ago (1993). I did not get malaria.
And the good thing is I did not have any
reactions.
If I had the C-virus right now.. I would be
willing to try.
But not that excited just to try as a preventative..
THAT I WOULD NEVER REALLY KNOW WORKED.
I guess if I got the C-virus, that would mean the
pills did not work. :) :)
In "normal" Times Danaher deal would be
worth at least an extra $1.50 to the stock.
"Normal Times" = When GE was trading at $13.
Back a whole 2 months ago.
