Bid .14 Ask .25 I told ya!
MF4
It may be that this week is the final capitulation lows for CORX. This is the same symbol I got into this little gem with some 13 years ago, by the way.
Perhaps this is how it works? Endless dilution, a new story, a new hero (CEO) comes in to (hype) save the day. Certainly, MV is proving to be even more disappointing than Stoll and Simmon.
But, the OTC may be our best friend. Why? precisely because it is manipulatable. One of Cortex's main problem has been the inability to get excited about their product. In an effort to be rational and sobor, they have undersold the story. What else can a company with COR's financial resources do, BUT hype the story?
Back to the OTC. R & R will absorb the supply from disgruntled sellers until it dries up. Then, something will leak, MM will slowly raise the ask. Two months from now, I think we'll be closer to a buck than not. Speculation about "somebody knows something" will feed upon itself. I'm holding on for that.
Yes, this company's performance has been the opposite of heroic since the FDA torpedoed it years ago. Congrats to the few that sold in the high $5's back then. Let's not forget that CX-717 did show effacasy. Some, like myself, have been so disgruntled with management that we've lost sight of that.
Hanging tight,
MF4
Apparently, I'm blacklisted.
MF4
GFP,
The incomps running COR wouldn't recognize opportunity if it knocked on the door, told them as much and handed them a business card and a sack of millions of dollars.
MF4
Look for the MEMY model on COR share price.
I believe they were .10 - .15 when they got delisted, then popped to .58 on a takeover.
MF4
Blade - Another one comes to the dark side.
I can't wait until Stoll et al. are out of the picture. Urko could have done better.
Neuro nevermind - I know you think I'm completely misinformed. I have been, however, correct.
MF4
Senderos,
The only way to prove it is with the test I suggested. Other than that, all experts are just guessing also.
You go Haysaw,
I appreciate your debates with "the expert". How can a so-called expert ignore management foibles?
MF4
Corwatcher,
I know that there are some long time holders here and they are disappointed and hold on for many reasons.
This would be my status. To further clarify: I hold on because deep down inside, I still want to believe that human nature doesn't suck. That these guys have just had incredibly bad luck that will turn. That they have learned from their seeming incompetence and will pull a rabbit out of the hat.
Though I seriously doubt they will ever do anything that gets me close to break-even, if I sell now, I completely remove the possibility of ever riding something positive, should that happen.
And has been the case too often to think about, in the past, I have a history of buying tops and selling bottoms. It's a Market Joy-Fest! But after 13 years of riding the Cortex-nightmare-E-go-round, I would rather look back on my life as having stuck with the ship as it went down, then say "after 13 years, I got out at the absolute bottom, just before the meteoric rise".
I can survive losing a few grand more, but my rear-end wouldn't survive the endless kicking I would supply should the other scenario ever unfold.
MF4
Senderos,
Nobody's agruing that the climate doesn't change. On that we agree. But what you don't seem to get is WHY the climate changes.
Seriously. Don't be so dense. When you see evidence that contradicts your beliefs, open your mind and question your assumptions. This country can no longer afford an army of ignorant, stubborn dolts voting for the globalist puppets that are stealing America.
I gave you a solid test of your man-made warming thesis: If the same relative rise in temperature in recent years correlates to changes on other planets, then I am right and we are being scammed. If the temperature change is only on the Earth and not on other planets, then you are right.
It's a black and white, scientifically provable argument. What you should be asking is: Why are they lying to us? Why doesn't the media ever ask this question? What's the end-game?
Any intelligent, rational person must have a huge distrust of the American government at this point. And by the way, THAT'S PATRIOTISM!!! LONG LIVE THE CONSTITUTION!
Neuro,
Some have accused you of being a management apologist. I prefer to ask you a simple question: They have had 12 months to complete a deal. Why should we believe that an extra 3 months will make a difference? Why do you always give management the benefit of the doubt? Have they not proven their incompetance to you yet?
MF4
Senderos,
There is little doubt that the climate is changing, but what is the cause? You, obviously believe the explanation put out in the media (which is controlled by a select few), that it's man-made carbon creating a greenhouse effect.
The truth is that man's effect is very small compared to the sun itself. The sun has cycles too. If it is waxing, all planets, including Earth, will exhibit signs of global warming. That's your tell. If there's warming on Mars and Venus also, and there is, then climate warming is NOT a man-caused phenomenon. That's what's happening. Man can't do a thing about it, and shouldn't try, though no doubt we will. The result is simple: The sun wins.
The reason we are being conditioned to think that we are solely responsible for global warming is because shallow thinking dummies will scream for the government to save us. That is just what they are wanting to do. Get ready for another tax. This one will be paid to the globalists themselves under the guise of the IMF. Have you heard of cap and trade?
You people need to understand that everything the government does, and I mean EVERYTHING, is all about getting you and I to give up our freedoms and wealth and move ourselves towards slavery. Not with chains and whips, like we are accustomed to think, but economic slavery.
I hope this helps.
Davidal,
What was your "big neaws" that you were going to reveal after the vote? Nothing new seems to be happening. Any hints?
MF4
enemem,
If I had the money, I would appraoch R & R and offer $5M for 100M shares of COR. Then, I would buy 1% more in the open market and force the BOD to liquidate the company.
That way I would own 100% of COR IP for a measly $10M and not have to deal with the lackluster management team. This assumes of course that the drugs actually work.
If I was a BP, this would be my play. Actually, a BP could probably get the FDA to reconsider CX-717. They are the ones with the influence to make things happen, not this management team.
MF4
Look for a PIPE announcement Friday after the close.
This group has shown no ability to do anything positive for shareholders. But a PIPE pays their salaries for a few more months, and that beats getting a real job.
MF4
GFP,
A year ago, COR doubled the number of shares. People like you made the same arguments for "buying time". The stock price has been decimated since then. What thinking human being would take the same approach for another year?
MF4
Very strange trading in COR today. Low volume and declining price. Looks like MV didn't pull a rabbit out of his hat. I'm shocked!
Any feedback yet from the meeting? Are the shares halted? Last trade 20 minutes ago. i tried to sell some at the bid and it didn't go through.
Typically, after the new shares are approved and before the next PIPE, they will issue a positive PR. That might be a good time to dump.
MF4
There will be no webcast or audio link. Expect an 8K announcement about the vote late today or tomorrow.
Is anybody that lives nearby planning to attend? probably already en route, if so?
MF4
D-Day has arrived.
No posters. No volume. Has the ship sunk yet? Been delisted? Halted? Is a deal happening in some alternative universe?
Where is the usual cadre of pumpers and optimists?
What time is the meeting? Is it going to be simulcast? Anybody have any links?
HELLO???????? ECHO.....ECHO...... ANYBODY HOME? IS THIS THING ON?
MF4
Neuro,
that may be the most brain-dead comment ever posted here
My comment may be dumb. But what conclusions should one draw from your brilliant $5 price target (or was it $12)?
........glass houses baby :)
MF4
Friday morning and no deal. looks like I was right on my prediction. It looks like the plan all along was to fail to deliver anything positive.
Monday will bring the new shares coming online. propbably a PIPE announcement a few weeks or days later. I wonder if MV will bother to explain why a deal didn't get done? Probably not.
MF4
For 13 years my money and this science has languished with Cortex, the company. Please, dear God, if you exist, take ampakines out of their incompetent hands and let somebody with money, smarts and savvy give it a go. If just for future generations.
Lord hear my prayer!
MF4
Haysaw et al,
Sounds like we're winding down an adventure. Melancholy from the realization that a decade of work didn't yield results. Coming to terms with our wasted fortunes and the tattered remains of our reputations in the field.
In the early years, my hope could barely be contained. Enjoyed sharing it with like-minded posters. In the last few years, this has been a vent-fest for me. I appreciated the debates and comfort from similarly wounded soldiers.
Though I have disagreed with many, I tried (and sometimes failed) to maintain respect for all. In my own way, I will miss the comraderie of you all when COR dissolves.
I hope the science gets into some strong hands that will bring it forward. Never mind the money I gave to the mafia in this painful lesson learned. To all that intentionally burned us, including the FDA, I do not wish mercy on your souls.
I hope to someday understand the true machinations behind the Cortex story. I hope GFP finds his muse in writing the book he was born to write. Despite his Jekyl/Hyde investing record, he takes meticulous notes and would be a natural for the task.
MF4
Jerry,
It looks like you're the last man standing. I can't believe you're still willing to trust these bozos. I can't believe you are still optimistic something gets done.
Varney, hurry the F up!
I'm just disgusted that everything that's happened since the FDA derailment amounts to nothing but a death spiral. What did we get when Stoll handed over the riegns to Varney? I guess Stoll's soul had become too black. Looks like Varney's right there with him.
I can't believe these guys think they're fine doing nothing until the dilution vote. Just pathetic. I wish I would have sold at .30 now. No point trying to save my remaining $3K. If I did, it would go up to $10K a minute later. Sorry guys, I'm going down with the ship.
MF4
GFP,
Save it.
What Cortex needs right this very day is for the CEO, Varney, to be heroic. No more hiding behind emails and R & R, and nothing delivered but their empty promises. I promise you that if he would act heroicly and even just communicate something we could believe, the sp would triple immediately.
But, despite the desperate circumstances, the only thing they can do is talk about someday having SA results, which are already months overdue and fairly irrelevant. And then using the tired carrot on the end of the stick of several interested parties, etc......
HELLO?! VARNEY? YOU IN THERE? HELLO? DO YOU GET IT YET? HELLO? IS THIS THING ON? HEY VARNEY! DO SOMETHING!
MF4
Davidal,
It's Tuesday afternoon before the dreaded new share vote. And many weeks past his deal prediction worst case. If Varney plans to do anything heroic, I suggest he hurry the F up!!!
MF4
I have my COR shares in 3 seperate accounts. I voted against their proposal in 2 already. I just did the same on the 3rd set of shares. While I am resigned to never getting what was promised from the clowns in management, I did gain some minor satisfaction by voting my piddly shares against the mute chimps.
However, I would gladly trade that satisfaction for the $50K I wasted on this scam over a decade ago.
MF4
Dear Mr. Saw,
You are forgiven,
MF4
haysaw,
Hey, good buddy. I know we sparred in the past, but I thought we had moved forward. You didn't mention me. I feel hurt now. :(
MF4
Aiming,
I'm convinced that if they opt for another horrendous financing, that will prove that this company is and has always been nothing more than a mafia scam.
MF4
Ombow,
Welcome back.
If anyone wants out at these low prices, you're welcome to it.
Though I don't expect anything special from management, this stock is setup right now for a huge up day. It's been accumulated for months at this level. If there is a rumor, or inkiling, or an actual PR about a deal, much less a "good deal", COR could easily rally up over a dollar.
The only think lacking here is credibility. If management should actually surprise us all and show some moxie, a rabbit, or a viable future plan (not just some speculated new indication), the stock price could even pop above $2 in a few days. Then, with momo, who knows?
DNDN was around $2 before tearing up into the $20s in a few days when the relevant news hit. It could happen here. Though past experience implies that getting out now is the more logical approach.
MF4
GFP,
Creativity is something that has never been on display by this management.
MF4
GFP,
so far I'm right. No deal has materialized. Past is prologue.
MF4
HAHAHAHAHAHA. good one mttocs
Davidal,
So lame that I'm right about those losers (mngmnt). I predict there will be no deal. The PIPE will pass at about 66%. They will offer all 100M new shares at .15 - 60M/ w 30M warrants and 10M to R&R. That raises about $9M. They will waste it on an expanded SA trial that will suffer from the usual ills, and at the end of the day, they still won't get a deal.
They are stupid and stubborn, just like the Green Bay Packers coach, Mike McCarthy. He's convinced that better practices will result in wins. When the problem is Aaron Rodgers holds the ball too long and the zone blocking scheme sucks.
With Cortex, it's the scheme that sucks. Run small poorly designed and run trials, then hope BP comes knocking at their doors.
Lather, rinse, repeat. I don't care who gets the IP, I just hope they run with it and are well-capitalized. I'd rather buy 500 shares of that entity than buy one more share of a company run by MV/Stoll.
MF4
davidal,
Your firsthand knowledge of the man gives him more credibility. Although, you and I are both fairly anonymous posters. I wasn't saying that I'm convinced, it's just that Cortex's bad luck is hard to believe if what they say about the science is true. I know I was influenced to buy by reading his "expert" commentary.
When things are this hard to understand (inability to get a deal), my mind just looks for reasons. I was more trusting back in the days I found Cortex. It's possible to setup an elaborate scheme with multiple complicit parties engineering reasons to do something bad. I still think that's a possibility. Probably the newsletter I was referring to is not part of the cabal.
MF4
GFP,
Sorry, smoked it all last night.
Yeah, I didn't realize that $20M was 200% of the market cap. Sad and pathetic a deal wasn't done before as the trial proved it works in RD. I just don't understand what the problem here is?
MF4
GFP,
If COR could raise the paltry amounts you describe to get to a (another carrot) deal in Spring 2011, wouldn't they again be running on fumes and have no leverage at that point in time?
How will that benefit shareholders?
MF4
haysaw,
Another possibility could be that the interested party was actually a competitor with an AMPA program. In posing as an interested party, they were allowed access to trial results, and proprietary details.
Perhaps, it was only a ploy to save themselves the time and expense of running their own trials, or for confirming a class effect? When they got their info, they walked, as had might have been the plan all along?
MF4
I think an RD deal that would provide $20M upfront and $10M/year royalties might be about the only reasonable deal they could hope for. That way they can stay independent and develop like they want.
MV probably wants a better deal and is playing hardball. I know I said I wanted him to play hardball in the past, but assessing the current state of affairs, I'd say "get what you can get", and move forward.
Like I said, any decent deal would cause COR sp to go higher. If the above deal got done, $1 a share in a few days is reasonable. THEN, maybe a PIPE would be in order? I wish MV could come up with a good one-two punch. Maybe he can? So far, not.
MF4
