Hot Topic: What A Show – WAEA ’06!
If there ever was a transition year in in-flight entertainment or passenger connectivity, this was it. The demise of Connexion, the rise of AirCell, OnAir, AeroMobile and ASI will undoubtedly change the way we fly in the next few years. The IFE experience is also in for a few improvements as well. Panasonic and Thales and a whole host of new hardware vendors, specifically in the area of onboard portable entertainment, will deliver new levels of choice and quality. We cannot go into all the stories here: there is not enough room in our Hot Topic so lets see if we can hit the highlights now and cover each individual story in upcoming issues. Here’s a quick peek on what we perceive to be the “hot” trends:
Portables, portables and more portables: we saw over eight new portable products and there are probably more in development. Companies like Panasonic, eDigital and IMS showed impressive new hardware.
Connectivity is larger than life with AirCell gearing up for cell-based SMS/email offering in the US next year and a similar onboard cell offering from AeroMobile and OnAir soon internationally via Inmarsat/Irridium. Panasonic is on the verge of a worldwide TV and Internet service that promises to fill the Connexion void. Bluetooth is coming of age with the first Bluetooth picocell from ASI.
There is a lot of next generation noise canceling hardware with prices and capability varying all over the map. Long Prosper, Sennheiser, and Bose are bringing interesting products to market and the focus is on ear buds and on the ear designs. You need this technology if you travel long distances.
At least four new, small foot-print, satcom antennas were displayed with great new technology driving them. EMS, Chelton, ITAN and Starling are names you will hear more about from us.
So much for the big dogs, now what about the buzz? Here are tidbits from the many stories we heard about:
Laptop batteries were a big issue and we must have heard from ten sources with differing opinions. The keynote speaker even had an opinion: “There is a 50/50 chance the airlines will ban all carry-on devices”. The latest exploding battery scenario may fuel the discourse. Check this out this web link.
Wiring and unwiring the new airplanes from Boeing and Airbus was another topic of great interest. It seems that with all the issues surrounding international governmental frequency approval and the vagaries of the technology, wiring may be a backup proposition
It sure is difficult to interview the movie content suppliers (excluding a couple). We tried to get a reading of “Snakes On A Plane”, and they were too busy to see us – sorry.
Thanks to Astronics for the best barge party and shoeshine, OnAir for the upscale event of the show, and the WAEA for their hospitality and our new ability to salsa dance.
Hyper buzz - Thales showed a really incredible, small satcom. ITAN had a sweet moving map display. VT Miltope's new Visionary IFE system that uses ''lossy coax technology.'' AeroMobile is testing the slickest, 2-box GSM telephony hardware. Strangely no iPod-based hardware was shown at the conference. The eDigital folks had a nifty new portable player with a built in game controller. We really liked the diagnostic screen that, among other things, tells the interrogator the condition of the battery. Avionica’s simple and small gatelink product was light and sophisticated. Lumexis with their fiber-to-the-seat design offering HDTV and captioning. DTI has signed Electronic Arts, which adds games like The Sims 2 to their huge gaming coffering. IMS has a trendy new colored “skin” to their portable. And last but not least, the incredible technology demonstration room at the Panasonic booth.
Note: WAEA reports that as mid-day on Thursday, there were 220 delegates from 68 airlines and 859 vendor delegates from 177 companies.
He returned mine...... eom
What BOOTH number was that again?
LOL
Dude Quit making up BS and then try to cover your rear when caught. There is plenty to critique without making up crud.
You are the one that needs to "get a grip" in more ways than one. How far are you going back on your next drive by? LOL
The scenario you are talking about was more involved than your recollection (being kind to you) There were all sorts of things happening by many companies as well as content providers.
Cut/paste/delete away. This quote says all that needs to be said about you and your intentions. LOL
"the only thing here BUSTED is the Stock $$$"
And that has what to do with the "email" you sent? Also, what "manufacturer" were they referring too? I thought they had the manufacturing capabilities In Turkey or some other God forsaken place LOLOLOL
"Fusion Digital Technology Ltd design, manufacture and supply a vast range of digital consumer electronics products for the international marketplace. The range includes 'free-to-air' digital receivers for satellite and terrestrial platforms alongside integrated LCD and plasma televisions".

$21,000?
Not bashing, but I make at least that in a month...let alone one quarter. LOL
Not debating whether or not what one perceives as the truth. What I am responding to is constant references to people who own shares in e.Digital and their wanting to stay engaged in what maybe going on..hype included. References by people who spend so much time posting on a stock that they do not own....then professing moral superiorly in doing so while they belittle those that still own the stock. Total BS IMO
It is crystal clear the agenda of most bashers, naysayers and haranguers no matter what they claim their motives. Most are sick, obsessed individuals who got a good spanking in the OTC market and can't get over it.
That is the real truth.
Sad is former or disgruntled alleged shareholders who spend 24/7 on this and other boards whining, harping, complaining, demeaning etc....all under the guise of enlightened posting. Bwahaaaa
Now THAT is SAD
MacIsle
Not debating about whether the company or some posters "deserve" it.....I was only commenting on the hypocrisy of a comment.
.
"I wish sincerely that they find peace with their investment issues".
That should also apply to the ones who lost their shirt and have not gotten over it. They still hang out on e.Digital boards, harass and harangue the company and some of it's shareholders all the while pretending to be above the fray.
Agreed?
Gotcha....Bwahaaaaaa
Some made fortunes. Many have done very well. Some have not. That is why you cannot/should not generalize.
Again, speak for yourself!

(SAN DIEGO, CA, – August 15, 2005) – e.Digital Corporation (OTC: EDIG), a leading innovator of proprietary digital technology platforms, today reported revenues for its first fiscal quarter of 2006 ended June 30, 2005 totaled $998,000 compared to $93,000 for first quarter of fiscal 2005 revenues, an increase of 971 percent.
Gross profit for the first three months of fiscal 2006 was $171,000 compared to $69,000 for the first three months of fiscal 2005. While gross margins for the company’s products have averaged approximately 20%, the decrease in gross margin in the first fiscal quarter occurred due to additional costs incurred for the development of platform and product enhancements. The company reported an operating loss of $530,000 for its first fiscal quarter 2006, compared to an operating loss of $705,000 for the same period last year.
Net loss available to common stockholders for the first fiscal quarter of 2006 was $(0.00) per basic diluted share, compared to $(0.00) per basic diluted share for the same period last year.
Also, the company reported it has received purchase orders for approximately $1.6 million, which it expects to ship in the second quarter of fiscal 2006.
“As we outlined in our presentation following our recent annual meeting of shareholders, we are making progress growing revenues and reducing losses,” said Atul Anandpura, president and chief executive officer of e.Digital Corporation. “We see a growing market for versions of secure, closed system video products which we are moving to exploit by developing a new digital video/audio technology platform (DVAP) based on further augmentation of our MicroOS™ and a powerful new processor.”
The new DVAP will come in the form of a finished product with the following planned features:
• High resolution digital LCD
• Embedded magnetic card reader
• Touch screen capabilities
• Internet access
• Voice over IP (VOIP)
• Full featured graphical user interface
• Content security
• RFID for tracking and theft control
• Access to e.Digital-supplied content
Concluded Anandpura, “Based on current and emerging DVAP business from the in-flight entertainment, healthcare, cruise line, and car rental markets as well as from kiosk-based businesses desiring to utilize our smaller screen Kino™, in fiscal 2006, we expect increased annual revenues and business over fiscal 2005. Most of the anticipated increase in revenues is expected through sales of secure closed system video products based on both new and current versions of our proprietary DVAP to branding customers.”

Psychosis
From silversurfer

Cassandra is psychotic, suffering from a severe mental disorder which is evidenced by “degeneration of normal intellectual and social functioning and by complete or partial withdrawl from reality”. She only posts to give her life daily meaning and to bash our company. What normal, non-investor would spend such time on a post trying to dissuade investors?
Not being satisfied with responses/attention on I-Fred, she’s decided to invade our board. I’m sure Agora will terminate her membership soon to maintain order on this thread.
