Great post!
I for one am trying to learn as much as possible about investing in patent stocks, but still have much to learn; and admittedly, have had some of those irrational expectations based on thinking I have an understanding of what's going on, when I don't.
Thanks Postyle!
I'm assuming it will climb up; but what I'm not sure about is how long after the court date takes place a significant move will take place, maybe same day or a few weeks after?
Klarman closed his position in Enzon, a pharma co...
wonder if he's thinking the same about his AVEO position????
What effect, if any, will have on the sp?
That was a fund read!
Since Google started work on the "New Adwords" before VRNG's lawsuit and eliminated the 3 components in "Old Adwords" relevant to the suit, why would the Judge have awarded such a high punishing royalty rate?
Surely the Judge must have consulted with an expert to find that the "New Adwords" was a waste of the court's time?
I'm sorry, but I didn't get what was so interesting about the article, with regards to VRNG???
I've been investing since 2011, not a long time at all; but whenever a stock of mine has gotten some good-great news, it's always shot up and at least held its gain for a few weeks-months, e.g., IQNT, NOK, and even the dog ALU...
but this stock is just so frustrating...even though I'm up from 3.19...
I mean, it wins a billion dollar award with a low probability of being overturned, and has a potential to keep on winning suits against other companies, as we've seen with ZTE, but it's still below $4!?
Anyway, I'm sure we'll be laughing about this in a few months...
gluck to all those who are invested in VRNG!!!
Exactly...kinda jealous of you...I blew my VRNG investing load when they were awarded the 6.5%, never thought they'd be back at these levels, but you live you learn right.
Congrats!
WILN beat EPS estimates and still lingered around the price it was prior to Q4 earnings.
I don't think mgmt could've done anything to stop the drop, and it really wasn't/isn't that bad.
Patience is key...and for stocks like this, where one day it just pops on unexpected news, you need a lot of patience.
I'd hate to miss the pop on this one, given the amount of shorts, high probability of getting money from both Google and ZTE, and the certainty of future suits arising from VRNG's strong patent portfolio.
Just my opinión of course:)
This is a feather weight going up against heavy weight champions...what do you expect?
But it's getting in some good wins...and should this spec play get the final KO, I'm going to Disneyland!!!
Wish us VRNG lovers luck;)
Yep! The money will come...until then we can all just have fun speculating about it on this and other boards, as well as enjoy the musings of those with an obvious agenda to pump or bash, and the occasional bitter poster who has nothing better to do than post snide remarks that make himself feel superior to others
Any thoughts on earnings?
I think that Q4 2013 EPS will be lower than the prior year and thus cause a bit of a drop; unless VRNG comes out with some fantastic news, e.g., ZTE settles, new lawsuit, etc...
Here's a video for the next drop in sp for VRNG
Haha sorry for the dumbass wording, got overzealous...small chance of appeal being favorable for GOOG. Still, I'd love to hear anyone's price range opinion, even though mine may not be as accurate as other opinions
Can anyone give me a range of where they think the price will be in the next 6 months, for comparisons sake?
I have an approximate low of $12 (given the GOOG case still has a small chance in hell to be appealed) to a high of about $30 (given that GOOG finally has to pay up and news of other settlements/suits come into play); in both cases, I have ZTE settling.
Who wants to guess when ZTE will cave?
I think it'll be sometime within the next 2 weeks; probably, early next week, maybe Monday, hopefully...
So I was reading Irrational Exuberance, and its mention of negative bubbles; I couldn't help but think of VRNG, as with the high probability of eventual monies coming into its hands (via payments from GOOG, ZTE, MSFT, ADT, etc.), the share price is still way undervalued.
In the book, Schiller notes how news does not effect the market immediately, but instead takes time to disseminate and have any effect. Thus, short-term traders may have been disappointed, but those longs will eventually be rewarded (I believe within this year, given victories in GOOG and ZTE cases)
I believe that once the market realizes VRNG's potential, VRNG's 'negative bubble' will burst and the sp will go straight through the roof to be an easy double from current sp.
Just a matter of time...
I hope every investor who looks at this company realizes that it is a high probability bet, i.e., they already won and are just awaiting payment, pending a low probability appeal.
Of course, anything can happen; but if I got out of bed thinking that everyday, I wouldn't go outside of my house because I might get hit by a car or similar risks(which could happen), and I'd lead a very boring and unfruitful life.
Anyway, read the speculative posts for entertainment as I do, and wait until real, relevant news comes out, be it in favor of Google's low probablity appeal, or Viringo's high probability pay days.
Saw that ZTE injunction hearing is on 2/20/2014 on yahoo message board/stocktwit

Apologies, as I'm sure this has been discussed; but, who thinks the warrants (VRNGW) are a better investment than the stock (VRNG)?
I read that too on YF. I usually like to see a statement accompanied by at least some shred of evidence; but as speculation, that presumption is pretty interesting.
Google has very smart people working for them. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but it seems as if the probability of overturning the judge's decision is very small.
Now, with Black Rock increasing their stake, and the USPTO's numerous rejections, the chances seem even smaller.
Why would they be doing this? To make time for a deal with VRNG? Or are their lawyers just milking them?
It just seems so odd that they would take a chance like this and risk losing even more???
I know this may only be rough speculation, but can GOOG appeals be denied; if so, what would the time frame be? Thanks for any response.
I wonder what the chances of someone acquiring VRNG are?
Thanks! Also, I know JJS has said that all appeals will likely be consolidated; but I'd like to know what the rough probability is that they will be heard, and if so, what court? Thanks in advance to whomever responds!
Can someone please explain how laches may benefit VRNG, given that GOOG will be appealing? Thanks!
