I'm not here to bash. I have been buying shares during the lull because I do believe there is an upside,
But I largely agree with TyroneChilson's fact check as presented.
I do not believe there is a C&A 2 ready to go into production in 2013 (I am a film journalist and know that if things were moving, we would be hearing something).
Platinum's continued ownership of the rights to the C&A comic is not a viable revenue source as it is so loosely connected to the film that, even were the franchise successful, selling the comic-based licenses (a la the online slots) is not likely to do much for the company.
I do believe that "ATLANTIS RISING" continues in active development, but please understand that development is a far, far step from production (which is where the movie is actually being made). The development phase can last indefinitely and sometimes never results in a movie. C & A was in development for about a decade. Even if ATLANTIS goes it may be the same deal as C&A, where PDOS collects a rights fee and no profits from the film. I'm not looking to ATLANTIS to rescue this company any time soon.
I do know that SyFy Channel announced a Platinum project earlier this year. It is called "SEEING THINGS" and is based on the Platinum property "GREY LEGION". This could continue to linger in development, but if the show goes it could move the line on shareholder fortunes.
What's unclear to me, and I would love to learn the definitive answer to, is the status of the IP library that PDOS once held. There's been a lot of talk that PDOS paid extensive amounts of its cash capital to consultancies that are nothing more than shell companies for the owners (RIP Entertainment, etc).
But what I'm wondering if the IP library is still intact and an asset of PDOS?
If so, then they still have properties that could be exploited in entertainment and used to revive the company to the shareholder benefit.
I do hope for a .02 in 2013. That would let me get my money out and still have a considerable number of shares :)
But playing penny stocks like this is a game and I wouldn't be staking serious money on this company for sure.
