“but I am more excited to get an update on the performance of the DragonSilk shootpack panels at some point.”
SR - I tend to agree with the factions of this board stating that we will not get any details on performance or actual ballistic test results, Short of perhaps a statement such as “they performed really well or exceeded expectations”.
What we “may” get May only be insight based on issuance of another contract. Short of that, IMO, I can’t see the DoD proving any other details
Sure would be nice to enhance and increase the size of pic #3, then translate it to see the details of that document everyone is intently reviewing.
Thanks for reposting. If the net results render a couple Homozygous strains with the targeted/desired traits, that would be encouraging. Wander what the results were.
Pennies - thx. If that is the case, it makes more sense - essentially 2500 attempts of a strain or two to sift through the best hits/results.
Truth or Lebbe - Opinions on the meaning or breakdown of what “2500 microinjections” means? Multiple injections to same strain or 2500 different targeted strains?
If the later, and very conservatively a 1% success rate, does that translate into 25 separate silk lines?
Yes! Logic at its best.
That is exactly my take as well when reading this. I do give a bit of leeway, as it appears to be a news article and not an official decree from the gov’t. We’ve all seen how these news articles are not fully accurate.
However, I am just as concerned by the fact that we only received the “icing” and weren’t told that there was no cake yet underneath (might look good on the surface....but....). Has happened in this manner many times in the past IMO.
Sounds like a reasonable scenario. I gotta admit that I thought this was all a 1-day play, expecting profit taking in the last 30-60 minutes, but 1 or a couple seeking to fill a target quantity at EOD may be all it took to pop it back up.
May be evidence of a continued play Tuesday IMO, or perhaps evidence of new info ‘bout to show itself.
Ok, didn’t foresee this EOD (last 5 minutes) of action at the 7 vents range. What do you make of this? Mojo?
Nope IMO. We are seeing the 11am lull, then back up in afternoon, then big drop at EOD as traders take what profits they can muster and don’t hold, especially over a weekend (including an extra day to boot with markets closed on Monday).
10K is out
Well, at least this shows willingness to be forthright in communication of what, IMO, I see as both the negatives and (potential) positives.
"identified variances in material properties......fall outside of the Company's target ranges"
(-) inconsistencies of product exist (as has been debated here many times over)
(+) at least they recognized a gap and have put in a formal procedure to identify each for remediation
(+) at least we now know inconsistencies are present versus all the guesswork on the board to whether or not they exist
"is expected to identify even more opportunities for material and process improvements over the coming quarters"
(-) 2 or 3 more quarters of waiting before commercialization?
(-) how many more potential deficiencies exist?
(+) at least we now know that we are in for a longer waiting period if one wishes to make investment decisions off that data
"This could cause a delay in commercialization if the other parts of our commercialization plan fall into place earlier"
(-) it will delay (not could IMO)
(-) more waiting
(+) same as previous - at least we now know
Yep, at least 1 1/2 hours after open, I guess it answers whether a continued run was in play. All the .06 - .061's just began to fill.
Yank's depth of knowledge in this space is far greater than most. Adding these inputs to those that others also bring to the table allows readers to consider their own DD and combine to arrive at their own conclusions. Giving the "3rd degree" is unwarranted IMO.
From my standpoint, a Thank You to Yank is more than an adequate for his foresight to bring this important relationship to fruition.
If we take feedback at face value that Yankeeclipper provided in the recent past, and his obvious knowledge of WM operations, I would believe that there is one other significant step where WM is concerned >>> performance testing on the final product / multiple weaves. Yank mentioned that WM has a gov't approved ISO certified testing facility on site and will likely perform some level of initial ballistic testing.
If above is true, it doesn't mean that we get any insight to any such testing short of "preliminary tests meet expectations" or some generalization thereof, but I would expect WM to perform some level of certification testing prior to DoD receiving final product.
And.....another T Trade at 4:11 at .0946 (150k shares)
Nice gains/volume overall
As with Friday, another after hours below avg for the day -- 900K trade at 4:01:55 at $0.0849
.0664 at 15:59:57
.056 at 16:01:55 (300k trade)
What the???
NICE!!! First news story that popped when browsing to Yahoo's Home Page a moment ago >>> "'Dragon Silk' Armor Could Protect US Troops". Good press / visibility!!
Obviously, a little biased toward my browsing preferences, but good article nevertheless....
LINK
I wander what the Ballistic Impact testing involves, what expectations have been set, what degree of protection is being sought, and if we will ever be able to see that data. Initially, I would assume not as this data is not likely for public consumption per DoD.
Stowe....Warned about what exactly?
Nope - both Global NewsWire
Curious to why 2 PR's in the same week for notification of the CC?
I am one of those people. The spools, a cacoon, and a Monster worm itself, albeit I am not an expert, so I could have been handling regar silk, but I think not IMO. Would have liked to take a sample with me, or had a test kit in my back pocket, but maybe next time.
Don't see that happening - the latest out of Castro's 'lil Bro was that relations are a non-starter until the embargo is lifted and Gitmo is handed over. If that is a fully valid statement, then setting up shop there is not happenin
-OR Possibly -
> Threshie selling shares to squeeze out what pittance is available
> one of those 'consultants' who got paid in shares finally throwing in the towel to take what $$'s can be squeezed out, then booking the loss
> Large shareholder dumping to at least get $300 or $400 for each 1M share lot and taking the write-off as you mentioned.
Been waiting for this final "dump action" to take place, not to take any action myself as I have long ago looked upon this as a loss, but to view the final dump and see when it is finally over once it hits 0001. Really surprised this action didn't take it to the final grave (i.e. like so many others that finally hit that level and just sit there with no more action to be seen again)
As done a while ago (i.e. visiting with Kim/Ben at the KBLB booth when TechTexTil was in town), I was thinking about going up to the Cobb County Galleria mall area to get 'either' my MS sample or a copy of the magazine, whichever it is. But.....not doing it for $1000+ (conference fee), in addition to listening to what looks to be a bias towards whatever topics the North Carolina State University College of Textiles professors want to touch on.
Mike - Agree and recognized the same thing. As guarded as we know Kim to be, why would he show those cards and potentially expose margins at some point in the future - doesn't seem to be his style......communicating an inflated cost above actuals, that would be more accurate IMO, while at the same time demonstrating the significant cost-gap between his product and those touting to be competitors or near-competitors in the space.
Agree, but a real one, not a 1K share paint-job.
"Series of positive news items"
Hopefully, one of those "news items" will include test results. We've had numerous pictures showing spools of thread, heck, I even held one and felt the thread a couple years ago. Now, another milestone reached where the spool has been transformed into another material - progress for sure! Would like to see the same material created with native silkworm silk, using the same weave, and a series of testing conducted to outline the differences. I'm sure that is coming at some point, or similar testing to some scale.
yes, I suppose it could have something to do with DNA expression through subsequent breeding cycles. However, based on "Truths" response as well, I would also have to consider that there is more going on then just the desired fiber expression.
I hadn't read the article he posted before, and yes, it gets quite "techy", but it does broaden my line of thinking and factor in other considerations I hadn't really thought of before. Specifically, a new line of thinking that many other considerations/challenges exist throughout what many term as "Production", and it isn't simply limited to what 'spews out' at the end of the cycle, otherwise known as the end product/fiber. Other challenges exist, whether it is disease control or minimizing fatality rates for higher production rates, weather, quality of feed, breeding rates, and many others that all have a play in production cycles. All must be given the appropriate attention, otherwise too many variables can effect capacity and consistent fulfillment of product.
Truth (or ES1) - what is your assessment of the following statement? Does 'genetic variation' = inconsistencies in the breeding line?
Agree Volt. I don't mess around with sub-penny stocks without using an A/O order at a minimum. Either I get the total quantity I am ordering, or I get nothing. No need in getting the blood boiling over a trade that caused you to pay more in commission than the total order value.
Not totally - I still have a few million shares left. Got lucky and was able to balance out a bit once in early 2012 to reduce my overall holdings. Bought on 1/11/12 at .0007 and sold at .0028 (don't have the exact date of the sell - I'd have to go back to other records to get that) - but at the end of the day, it gave me a 300% profit. Used that opportunity to sell previous holdings at a loss to net out to zero. At the end of the day, no profit, but I was happy to reduce my holdings / losses.
"Nice to hear from you again on this board !!! Where are the others : Casper, Howie, Speera, Jim Y., Crowley -- and the other fine people who made this a lively board ?"
Just one of the many bag-holders suckered into "the idea" long ago. Nothing really to see and nothing much to come back to, as my time is spent better elsewhere. Will stop in on occasion to see what recent "pie in the sky" comments are posted, but I essentially wrote this investment off long ago. Positive....at least it will be a tax write-off at some point.
Agreed -WTF x2...sounds like the writer has taken English class through at least 2nd grade
Lance - None here - just the same sound of emptiness in the 'void' known as TXMC
Truth - any idea on what a 'Normal Yield' quantities amount to in the standard silk industry of today? Not sure if I've seen any figures from DD reviewed in the past, except for something I ran across reviewing video of a standard silk production facility - I just don't believe it identified any info related to expected yield quantities.
Thanks Yank - I found a copy in my SPAM folder (not to mention several emails from a class coordinator at my kids school). I should review this folder more often, as I'm sure other email exists 1000's of messages down.
Thanks for clarifying - I can grasp the concept. Simply didn't realize that there was anything that could be done when initiating an error of that type. I had one of those "decimal" errors about 1 1/2 years ago, but if I recall correctly, if filled at a higher price (guessing market price at the time - it simply was lower than I was willing to sell). Really didn't amount to much, so I didn't pursue, but then again, I didn't realize that I had an avenue to remediate. Just called myself a "dmbazz" and moved on.
Thanks for the info - will keep that in mind for the future.
