Mine is with Wamu as well. Sorry to display my stupidity to all here but a contract is a binding agreement , no? Whoever takes over that mortgage has to honor the terms.

How does this affect our mortgages other than they might be held by Chase? I know I am no financial brain trust here but I don't understand how this changes our mortgages.

On the other hand I have 700 shares of this sucker. I'm screwed there.

There are a lot of people who post here that I like. There are a lot that I respect for their knowledge in a variety of areas from Mac to everything else. We do tend to go off subject from time to time and I love the bits I glean from our core group on those occasions. There are some here that make me wonder about the wisdom of letting all living things breath air.

Clearly Bootz and I do not agree and I'm sure there are many others on this board that will make me shake my head in disbelief as I hear their viewpoints. I hate being called stupid but I like Bootz.

After roni's birthday I hope we will still have a bit of the glue that got us here in the first place still intact. Or is that In tacked? Whatever.

This might be the most important election of my lifetime. I want it to be right because if it's not I'm afraid we won't get another chance.

Bought the refurbed iMac.

I also ordered more memory from OWC. I hope that wasn't a mistake. It never occurred to me that the computer that they send may have more than what the specs indicate.

Is memory cheap or what? 4 GBs for under $100.00. I remember when 20 MBs cost almost that much.

Question on refurbs.

Has anyone here bought a refurbished computer from Apple? I'm thinking of getting an Imac for my husband, a 20" 2.4 GHz, core duo, 350 HD for $1,049.00.

Does that sound reasonable and what experiences has anyone had with these returned puppies?

I have 407.7 GB of 463.8 GB left to use so it can't be a capacity issue.

The last successful backup was yesterday. Every one today has failed.

Not terribly concerned at the moment as I have nothing new to backup anyway but I would like it to function as promised.

Time Machine again.

I found another thread on the same subject started just today so I guess I'm not alone. The one responder thinks we just have to wait for a fix from Apple. Why he thinks that I have no idea.

Time Machine issue.

As of today Time Machine has quit working. I get an error message : Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup directory.

I went to Apple support and found a discussion on the topic with no fix and the topic has been archived allowing no responses.

Anyone have a clue what I can do to fix this?

I know the town is nothing like it was 50+ years ago when I spent summers on the beach at my grandparents house but where in relation to the ocean? Miles inland?

Totally OT. You know the funny little Alt Carlsbad place? I think it's a spa or something now. My aunt and uncle built it and then when my aunt became somewhat senile some con man stole it from her. Probably more info than you wanted, huh?

When I was little there was only one street of business, one movie theater a really cool old train depot and a boys military academy about a block from my grandparent's. ( There were a few other businesses but you get my point I hope. It was tiny.) Needless to say I had to walk into town quite often right past the academy. Ah, fond memories, lol.

The only problem I've encountered was the loss of some of my contacts. I have no idea how they disappeared but they are no longer in my address book. I had some different ones on different computers and what it seems to have done is keep only the ones the 2 computers and my phone had in common and toss everyone else. Now I have to reenter a bunch of people. Arghhhhhh.......

I had a one-on-one session this AM at nine, before the store opens, or so I thought. When I arrived there was a line to the end of the block of people waiting to buy iPhones. There were some folks already inside at about 8:50. I don't know when they started letting them in. You would have thought it was launch day almost. They had a separate line for people wanting anything but a phone.

The person I was working with said it has been like that all day, every day since launch.

When I left at 10:00 the line was about half as long.

I played with the new iPhone for a few minutes and was very impressed with the speed. Other than that I prefer my old one. The new one feels slimmer and lots lighter since it's now plastic. It also feels cheap to me. I liked the solid feel of the metal back. This one was more like a toy.

If it weren't for the fact that it takes quite a bit of time to activate the suckers you could say they are flying off the shelves. As it is it's more like strolling off the shelves, yawn.........
