Thank you Capt, so I guess it is less inspiring than what i thought
Captain Microturbine..
what do you think this ad wants to communicate?
it looks more retail oriented than business oriented. I mean i don't think it wants to target industrial companies and we are right waiting the C15 and we have two main events in the next days (israelconference and EOY report)
Does anybody know when did Capstone post the ad on its website?
Didn't see these event postings here yet.
I think The Israel Conference is a very important event as well
same date: June 2nd
http://www.theisraelconference.org/index.php
Capstone's attendee: EVP / CFO, Executive VP, Sales and Marketing, CEO / President
HelioFocus' attendee: CEO / Founder
I am waiting for solar application developments
Our enthusiasm is outdone by CPST's three biggest share holders!
interesting to note they have now the same sp: $1.775
ready for the race? i do hope so
have a great we all
Greenvironment receives record order from Russia
with only 20% of free float and main investors locked-in at 0,65€ (IPO) it should be a good thing now.
the main market for Greenvironment is Xetra, then comes Frankfurt bourse. I agree with you GIVZF on the pink market is too short on liquidity.
i was thinking its pontential in the short time is higher than capstone's and i was going to move some money from cpst to giv but i didn't and today with your post about the new C15 (thank you again Bill) I got one more reason why i didn't
you asked "Small enouhg and cheap enough for ...what?"
my answer is mass production: ...homes, cars.... ? fill in the dots
Greenvironment receives record order from Russia ...
Thanks for your opinion on GIV, Bill, as an investor i did my DD and i agree with you.
Greenvironment isn't just a distributor imo. They have a great business model. They sell CCHP solutions to municipalities and get a % of the revenues for the energy that is sold to the grid. It sounds like a continuos revenue stream on top of what they get from just selling and installing microturbines. They also have a proprietary software that virtually pools many small sized plants into one bigger plant letting their solutions compete with the MWs plants.
BPC was involved in the 4-C1000 deal, maybe they are cooperating and the UK branch of Capstone could play as a european business director in the near future
Greenvironment receives record order from Russia for the delivery of a 4 MW-micro gas turbine plant
http://www.irw-press.com/news_12398.html
- Largest Order in Company History
- 4 MW micro-gas turbine plant for a shopping center in the Russian city of Sochi
- Tri-generation project (Combined Heat, Cooling and Power)
Berlin, 10 May 2011 - GGC Energy Ltd., a 50% subsidiary of the listed Greenvironment plc (TSX: A0YEKX / Symbol: GTI), has signed a contract this week to deliver a 4 MW-micro gas turbine plant. The order volume amounts to 6.5 million €.
The client is the R7 Group, a Russian construction company that also owns and operates several hotels in Eagle, a district of the Russian Black Sea city of Sochi, also a shopping center on an area of ??12,000 square meters. Next to the center "Novy Vek" (New Century) are now built on an area of ??30,000 square meters of another shopping center and an office building with 14 floors is expected (10,000 square feet of office space).
The contractor for the energy required for this center is the Enkom as (www.enkom.cz), a Czech engineering company with many years experience in the construction and sale of power plants in Russia. The subsidiary of Greenvironment will deliver the complete power solution for this center. These include, among others, four C1000 Capstone micro gas turbines, heat exchangers, auxiliary boiler and cooling systems. The Czech subsidiary of ABB (www.abb.cz) is the automation of the entire project safely. Installation and commissioning are carried out by the Russian distributor BPC Capstone Group (www.bpcgroup.ru) and other regional companies.
During the two-stage project is scheduled to take the first micro gas turbine in the fourth quarter of 2011. Three other micro gas turbines will be implemented in summer 2012. The project is funded by banks and investors from the Czech Republic and Russia.
Richard Benda, CEO of Enkom as commented: "micro gas turbines have an excellent performance, particularly for complex heat situations. In this case, we not only heat, but cooling requirements. We also look forward to other future projects with Greenvironment. "
Matti Malkamäki, CEO of Greenvironment plc, said: "The recently completed financing growth has put us in a position to handle larger projects too much. This project is also a good demonstration of the possibilities of cooperation with our esteemed partners in Capstone and outside Europe. This is the first project with BPC and I look forward to further develop the business together. Because of the strong European demand with respect to cogeneration plants, we are very confident we can win in the coming weeks, another large orders. "

news coming?
warrant deal
Captn, Bill, my head spins since i have to add accounting concepts to my poor english
what i understand is "Holders agreed to exercise the warrants at the existing exercise price of ..."
so they had a right to buy shares at certain prices and they did exercise their right.
total paid was $14 millions but the fee capstone had to pay was $2,335,938 so it had a net revenue of $11,2 millions
this explains me two things
1. added 12,5 millions shares and $11,2 millions. I did my math and i can say the fair value after diluition could be in the $1,55 - $1,60 range
2. the 2008 Holder paid $1,60 a share to exercise his warrants. with a price below that level the Holder would have bought his shares on the market giving up his right to exercise warrants. This would mean no money for capstone, and you know what happened to the price friday 4th with no news. just broke above $1,60 eh!
that is what i understood, and i am sorry if i wrote just non sense sentences, i'm working hard on my second language

Greenvironment receives first order from municipal utility of Elmshorn
mail received from IR@greenvironment.com
- Advanced talks regarding an extensive cooperation in Northern Germany
- Objective: Development of a virtual power plant with at least 20 MW by 2013
- Innovative solution for the balancing energy market
Berlin, 28th February 2011 - Greenvironment GmbH, a 100% subsidiary of listed Greenvironment plc, has received an initial order for the installation of a 50 kW mini-combined heat and power plant based on a C65 microturbine from Capstone. The plant will be installed in the basement of the main building of municipal utility of Elmshorn. Due to its role as design model, the mini-CHP plant will feature visualization on a 15 inch industrial panel on site.
As undertaking of the city of Elmshorn, the municipal utility of Elmshorn is powering around 60,000 inhabitants. The service area includes not only the urban area but also 13 country communities with about 12,000 inhabitants.
The electricity of the mini-CHP plant generated by burning 197 kW of natural gas will be fed into the grid of the utility. The heat of up to 115 kW is used for heating of the municipal facilities of Elmshorn. The mini-CHP plant is likely to show an overall efficiency of 93 percent and is linked to the maintenance network of Greenvironment.
Mr. Radu Anghel, managing director of Greenvironment GmbH, comments: “We are currently conducting intensive talks with the municipal utility of Elmshorn. After a successful test run of the mini-CHP plant we are planning to enter an extensive cooperation regarding the decentralized power supply of Northern Germany (Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-West Pomerania and Hamburg). In this connection, we are mostly targeting natural gas projects and the integration of decentralized CHP plants with the SCADA technology of Greenvironment to set up a virtual power plant of 20 MW by 2013."
"The consolidation to a virtual power plant has for each operator of a biogas or natural gas plant the advantage that through the bundling of several plants it allows the access to a lucrative market which otherwise would only be reserved for larger power plants. Thanks to our SCADA technology, this virtual bundling of CHP plants enables us to provide negative balancing energy. The balancing energy market is likely to gain immensely in importance in the future. We also plan to offer our SCADA technology to external third parties. SCADA allows easy start-up and shutdown of CHP plants. This should have positive effects on sales and earnings," said Peter Dorner, Chief Operating Officer of Greenvironment plc.

Greenvironment - Outlines 2011 fueling sales in Germany and Eastern Europe
Greenvironment CEO Issues Letter to Shareholders and Outlines 2011 Strategy for Future Growth
Berlin, 3rd February 2011 – Greenvironment plc, a leading technology specialist in the use of innovative microturbine technology in electricity generation from biogas and natural gas, today issued a shareholders letter, which will be posted to its website.
The text of the letter follows:
February 3, 2011
Dear Shareholders,
Greenvironment made great progress in achieving its objectives for 2010. During the past 12 months we focused our attention on strengthening our position in the marketplace by providing state-of-the-art combined heat and power producing plant technology based on microturbines that meets the customers’ demands and by offering innovative solutions that serve the growing decentralized energy field.
Greenvironment's priority for 2010 was to establish the Company as a leading technology specialist in the emerging power generation industry for natural gas and biogas applications - focusing on initiatives to capture market share and expanding into Eastern Europe, thus setting the foundation for long-term growth.
As a result, several key developments and milestones were achieved during 2010, including:
• Completion of listing the company on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange whereby we gained access to the capital markets;
• Formation of a 50/50 Joint Venture in the Czech Republic with strong local partner Gascontrol spolecnost s r.o. (www.gascontrol.cz) for the roll-out of decentralized microturbine power plants in the Czech Republic and Poland – the short-term goal of the JV is to commission 4.5MW of plants in 2011;
• Successful commissioning of the first microturbine plant in the Czech Republic through the Gascontrol JV, a 65kW plant in Havirov, and the first large order for a 800kW plant on the same site;
• Greenvironment GmbH, a 100% subsidiary of Greenvironment plc and the main operational arm of the Company, was ranked as a ‘Top 100’ most innovative medium-sized companies in Germany and was decorated by Lothar Späth;
• Signing of a long-term industrial cooperation agreement with financially strong Finnish defence group Patria (www.patria.fi), owned by the State of Finland (73%) and EADS (27%), for the installation and operation of environmentally friendly microturbine CHP plants in Poland. The goal of the partnership is to install 20 MW of decentralized capacity by 2015;
• Receive of first large order in Poland for a 1000kW microturbine biogas plant in Klepsk;
• Entering into a strategic development contract with WELTEC BIOPOWER (www.weltec-biopower.com), the world market leader in the production of stainless steel biogas plants, and receive of an order for the first installation of a microturbine plant in the field of biomethane upgrading – a 600kW CHP unit at Barsikow. This offers Greenvironment an excellent opportunity to break into the fast-growing market segment of biogas treatment, with up to 5MW of sales with WELTEC alone by 2012;
• Improvements on the Company's balance sheet;
• Greenvironment fleet of plants (in operation and under construction) in 2010: 69 microturbines on 28 sites with a total installed power of 7.14 MW
• The sales pipeline of projects at the end of 2010 stood at 23 million Euro.
The ability to introduce new solutions and significantly grow sales is a testament to our long-held strategy of delivering innovative technology and executing a focused plan to transition the market to microturbine technology. This allowed Greenvironment to further differentiate itself from any other company in the industry.
Moving forward in 2011, we are looking to build on these milestones and execute our plans to be the leading technology specialist in the decentralized energy industry and to thereby improve shareholder value for our investors.
Strategic initiatives for 2011 include:
• Formation of further subsidiaries and JVs in Poland and Romania – our network of industrial partners and customers is growing rapidly in these less developed energy markets;
• Increase sales in both the biogas and the natural gas sector - projected sales of approximately 20 MW for the fiscal year 2011;
• Our clear focus will be the use of 200 kW microturbines utilizing air bearing that means these turbines do not use any oil or cooling water. Depending on the application, these turbines provide 200 kW of electrical power and 345 kW of heat, have an electrical efficiency of 33.0% and a total efficiency of 91.9% and have a lifespan of at least 10 years.
• Intensify our long-term cooperation with WELTEC BIOPOWER - sales potential of up to six 800 kW microturbine systems by 2012;
• Execute new cooperation agreements with strong partners in Germany and Eastern Europe, including further local utilities;
• Accelerate growth plans - targeted expansion into new Eastern European countries based on local partnerships;
• Explore opportunities to exploit mature gas fields in Romania and other countries – the high availability and reliability, and remote monitoring and control capabilities of microturbines make them ideal for this application;
• Introduce and sell our self-developed SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) software for remote monitoring to third parties;
• Launch a 20 million Euro project financing fund offering investors an efficient way to invest in the renewable energy asset class that has historically provided steady cash flows with tax advantages;
• Accelerate our “build, own & operate” business model in joint ventures with local municipal utilities in Germany and Eastern Europe;
• Move from the Open Market of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange to the Entry Standard supported by ICF Kursmakler AG, our Designated Sponsor, which will increase our investor visibility.
We are excited about the opportunities in the year(s) ahead for Greenvironment. Our pathway and optimism is fueled by our understanding that the catalyst behind growth in the biogas and natural gas field is driven by innovation and execution - concepts that have been at the forefront of our efforts since day one. With that in mind, we will continue to take steps towards expanding our market, and, when appropriate, will work with select partners on a broader range of applications.
Looking ahead to 2011 and beyond, we see strong demand for our products and expect to grow revenue and market share to levels indicative of Greenvironment's emerging leadership in the industry. We expect to file our annual audited financial statements for the current fiscal year ending February 2011 by May this year. BDO AG Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft was appointed as our auditing firm.
I would like to offer my sincere thanks to all our employees, customers, and shareholders for their tremendous ongoing support. We look forward to updating you on our progress toward achieving our goals.
Sincerely,
Matti Malkamäki
Chief Executive Officer

WELTEC BIOPOWER orders first Greenvironment plant for large biogas park in Barsikow
email received from IR@greenvironment.com
• 1st installation of a microturbine plant in the field of biomethane upgrading
• Long-term technology cooperation with WELTEC BIOPOWER
Berlin, 17th January 2011 – WELTEC BIOPOWER GmbH, the world market leader in the production of stainless steel biogas plants, has placed an order for the first microturbine combined heat and power plant from Greenvironment GmbH, a 100% subsidiary of Greenvironment plc.
Greenvironment will install a CHP plant with a CR600-microturbine and the SCADA system for remote monitoring in a large biogas park (24,000 square meters) in Barsikow (Brandenburg), about 100 kilometers to the west of Berlin. Based on the input materials corn, whole crop silage and dry chicken manure 8.4 million standard cubic meters of biogas and 3 million standard cubic meters of biomethane will be produced here annually starting in the summer of 2011.
In this biogas project, microturbines are combined with a biogas upgrading plant. The thermal energy contained in the exhaust stream of the microturbine is used as process heat for the biogas upgrading plant. The treatment is based on the principle of chemical wash (amine scrubbing). The goal is a self-sufficient process heat supply of the upgrading plant by a head load controlled CHP with integrated microturbines. The generated electricity is fed into the grid of the local utility. The amount corresponds to an electrical capacity of 2.2 megawatts.
"During the processing of biomethane, the process energy (water) needs to have a temperature of 140 degrees Celsius. Therefore microturbines offer a clear competitive advantage thanks to their high thermal efficiency, which helps us to significantly increase the overall economics of the biomethane production", says Robert Tholen, technical director of WELTEC BIOPOWER. Further advantages are the compact and modular design of the package that can be upgraded as needed.
"Greenvironment has quickly developed solutions that have all facilitated a good connection to the existing biogas upgrading plant", Robert Tholen stated the reason for awarding the contract to the Berlin-based technology specialist.
"This initial contract by WELTEC BIOPOWER is a good start into 2011. In addition to that, negotiations with other clients regarding further major contracts are also well advanced. Therefore we expect a significant jump in revenues this year", commented Radu Anghel, managing director of Greenvironment GmbH.

06 July 2009 GE Energy Announces Industrial Waste-Heat Recovery Innovation for Onsite Power Plants - GE’s New Gas Engine-ORC Technology to Boost Efficiency of Onsite Power Projects Worldwide
GE's new pilot Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) waste-heat recovery system for gas engines is designed to make onsite power plants that use natural gas, landfill gas and other waste gases more cost-attractive to build as countries install more cogeneration and renewable energy capacity to enhance energy security and lower regional emissions.
http://www.gepower.com/about/press/en/2007_press/011907.htm
...Part of the electrical power will be obtained from exhaust gas heat using an organic Rankine cycle, or ORC process. The ORC process is based on a process similar to the water/steam cycle, but instead of water, it utilizes an organic working medium with superior volatility properties to water. The produced steam from the ORC process is used to drive a steam turbine that generates electricity by means of a generator.
does this mean they use the Organic Rankine Cycle process (as they could use diesel, otto or whatever thermodynamic process, or do they also use GE ORC technologies and products?

Vavavumm. Supercar and crossover hybrids with microtutbina
A supercar, the first electric with a 65 kW microturbine, will be available at the end of 2010, while a crossover, 'Solo', with a 30 kW microturbine Capstone, will be available in 2011 but the sale price of both vehicles has yet to be established, according to the statements of Roberto Velozzi CEO of Velozzi based in Los Angeles.
The Velozzi Supercar will be powered by an AC induction electric engine with a C65 Capstone microturbine having electric charging function. The supercar is designed to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just three seconds and reach a maximum speed of over 200 km/h.
The 'Solo' crossover will have a small electric engine and a Capstone C30 microturbines used to charge the batteries and the supercapacitors while the car is moving or resting.
The plug-in battery (that can be charged by a network outlet) allows a range of 200 miles (320 km). When the battery charge goes below a predetermined level the quiet and efficient microturbine starts working recharging batteries on the fly to extend the distance up to 1,000 miles (1,600 km)

thank you for the detailed explanation. I had my guess about the smaller turbines reading page 38 an 40 of the form 10-K.
In terms of units/MW/revenue they are the same as 2008 (more or less), but these are actual values and I had to look to the backlogs as well. They increased.
I guess the four major market segments are at different developing stages in terms of market adoption/penetration/willingness to buy, so the actual selling mix may change in the future. I agree about the emphasis on megawatts turbines, slide 13 tells us where the big money is and if I am correct I think that is the place where the bigger turbines are mostly required. Yet, i would love to know about the Ford S-Max project status.
have a good day
C30 and C65 didn't work for cpst in 2010
Their sales in terms of units and MW are back to the 2008 levels.
I can't say this is the point, i just noticed that
Thank you Gary, you're right the most possible production is not what it is in reality.
My guess is they soon expect to sell more than 2000 units in the near future (on average, based on product mix), that's why they added more production capacity.
From a competition point of view, I am thinking now volumes are going to be important as well.
On its website Capstone says (IR FAQ and ask management sections), for budgetary purposes they (the turbines) generally quote US$1,000/kW to US$1,200/kW for the systems only, also they estimated that the C30 would be cost-competitive with internal combustion engines at volumes above 10,000 units per year.
The California Energy commission stated: Microturbine manufacturers are targeting a future capital cost below $650/kW and this appears to be feasible given the market expands and sales volumes increase.(http://www.energy.ca.gov/distgen/equipment/microturbines/cost.html)
Yep, Market expands and sales volumes increase
Guys, i admit my english needs improvements and i could be completely wrong, sorry for this
Ale
about maximum capacity
they said it is 2000 units http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=120708&p=irol-faq#37205 (see bullet 12)
now they say it is 4000 units http://phx.corporate-ir.net/External.File?item=UGFyZW50SUQ9NDYxNzR8Q2hpbGRJRD0tMXxUeXBlPTM=&t=1
this should imply business is growing at a fast pace
BrightSource Energy-SC Edison deal looks huge in terms of big $$$ they have on the table right now
Cpst-HelioFocus deal seems it is based on newer technology (more R&D by HF and microturbines in places of traditional ones)
Good if BSE starts using microTs
'ask management' on the company's web site is full of interesting stuff www.capstoneturbine.com/investor/ask-management.asp
they reported the $800 million marine market potential in march 5th. They also reported this:
The first C65 externally fired microturbine has been integrated with the solar receiver by Heliofocus and is scheduled to begin testing at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel in late May. The overall solar market is in excess of $2 billion annually.
Big news coming about solar turbines?
you're right, not big money, not right now, but it could play well on the marketing side.
i am new here and i thank all of you for such interesting posts
