e.Digital Delivers Wireless MP3 Headsets for Major OEM Customer
SAN DIEGO, Jul 1, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- e.Digital Corp. (OTCBB:EDIG) today announced the on-time fulfillment of its design and development project for Softeq Development Corp. announced earlier this year.
The project, commissioned by Hewlett-Packard through Softeq, required a custom designed MP3-based wireless headset.
The headset's mechanical, hardware, software and firmware designs were all developed by e.Digital and use e.Digital's patented MicroOS(TM) Operating System. The headset incorporates embedded flash memory containing prerecorded audio files that will interact with strategically placed transmitters.
The major OEM customer for these wireless headsets will be named later this year.
"This delivery completes our first project with Softeq and represents over $1.2 million in orders and development," stated Fred Falk, president and CEO of e.Digital. "Working with Softeq and Hewlett-Packard has been a great experience and we look forward to possible product extensions and follow-on orders as well as new project opportunities with them."
"We challenged e.Digital to leverage their portable design capabilities and provide our customer with a product that could benefit millions of users," said Christopher Howard, president of Softeq. "This product required stringent technical as well as functional specifications, all of which e.Digital met or exceeded."
"This has been a very exciting project for e.Digital," noted Atul Anandpura, e.Digital's vice president of research and development. "We have been able to showcase a wide range of our design capabilities, our patented technologies and innovation in a single product."

RO, does she know how many millions other companies spent on trying to develop or buy (NAPSTER etc)and establish an online music store ?
If EDIG's loss was stock issued to an employee or a mere $50K, that was a cheap lesson, and I believe EDIG still owns it should they later decide to resusitate it.
When others finally figure out how to make these sites profitable, maybe EDIG can reenter, but for now, onwards and upwards.
cass, you know I never said anything about a partnership, but the long standing relationship between F-Ten and TOYOTA is undeniable.
Now EDIG is involved in the next-generation auto stereo product that, imo, is earmarked to be the replacement to the CD changer, which can handle only 6-10 discs at a time.
Certainly a 40 gig MP3 changer with the ability to download from the airwaves would make HUGE waves in the auto markets.
You do have a CD changer in your car, don't you ?
What's sad is an obsessed enemy of EDIG accusing investors of dot connecting is a case as clear and obvious as this one.
The ECLIPSE with the microOS is on its way and there's not much you can do about it but continue with your subterfuge and distraction.
By the way, any new shares registered today ?
Considering Fujitsu-Ten's long history of new product development and supply to TOYOTA over a long period of time and the new product development now between EDIG and Fujitsu-Ten, it would not surprise me to see the MP3 changer some day make its way into Toyota's new car market.
Certainly the immediate opportunity is the aftermarket of the ECLIPSE line, in the neighborhood of 400,000 existing customers, but the real coup would be acceptance into factory installation.
I owned EDIG when.........
Look at the Fujitsu-Ten//TOYOTA connection-

I bet Fujitsu-Ten would love to see one of its products become standard factory equipment in Toyota's auto line, which would be a huge step forward from its already existing after-market product line.
Considering that Fujitsu-Ten and Toyota have had a long standing relationship in product development, it is reasonable, imo, to anticipate that this extremely cool and unique 40 gig auto MP3 player with the ability to directly download from the FM signal, with a delay even, would be the next generation in car stereo application.
Say goodbye to the 6 disc changer.
This could really develop into something big.
As the senior VP stated yesterday, the ECLIPSE product line has the most direct path to market of the group of new products. This is most likely due to Fujitsu-Ten's already existing ECLIPSE customer base who will be targeted to upgrade.
To argue about whether or not partnership is an issue is to miss the point.
It's about products, product sales and future applications into even bigger markets.
There is a pathway here. Should they be able to navigate this path, investors will be rewarded, imo, especially from this extremely low entry point.
in the months ahead we should hear who the major OEM is with regards to the Softeq/Hewlett-Packard deal, as well as the major airline involved with the IFE project and very possibly OEMs involved in licensing the Odyssey 1000 with the 1.8" HDD.
All of these should get very good press exposure and signal to investors that EDIG is moving forward as quarterly revenues continue to improve should all these business ventures come to fruition.
never before have EDIG's business prospects been so close to completion in plenty of time for the fall/holiday season.
management expects the second half of the year to show continued improvement, and it is incredibly obvious why, with all these new products coming online.
Mary, it's the microOS, that's why. PATENTS !
today's webcast should be VERY interesting and shed some light on this latest development
the markets may be catching up to the technology
existing edig investors will likely not sell near the lows knowing news from major OEMs in this Softeq-Hewlett-Packard deal will likely expose edig to a wider audience.
sell low ? heck no.

Online Movie Barriers Of Time for Delivery, Quality of Picture, and Security Shattered As Kanakaris Introduces New Download Movie Technology At CinemaPop.com
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 30, 2003--
EdgeBurst Enabled CinemaWEAR is a Partnership Between JIBE, MediaBright and Kanakaris Wireless
A secured, downloadable online movie file can now begin playing instantly with full-screen size near-DVD quality video and CD-quality audio at CinemaPop.com and CineManiaNetwork.com, Kanakaris Wireless (OTCBB:KKRWE) announced.
EdgeBurst enabled CinemaWEAR is the name of a new online movie delivery technology which shatters the time barrier now experienced on Web sites like Movielink.com in the delivery of secured, downloaded online movie files, while providing a full-screen extremely high quality viewing experience and full digital rights management.
"We are delighted to be working in partnership with Kanakaris Wireless and their groundbreaking online movie Web sites CinemaPop.com and CineManiaNetwork.com to allow English and Spanish language motion pictures to be seen instantly in the highest possible full-screen quality and with a downloaded, digital rights protected file.
"Our EdgeBurst technology, mated with CinemaWEAR encoding by Kanakaris Wireless, WindowsMedia 9 DRM, and hosting and distribution by MediaRight, sets the benchmark for quality in the online movie revolution," said Greg Schmitzer, president and co-founder of JIBE.
"As the host for CinemaPop and CineManiaNetwork and all other Kanakaris online networks, Media Right is proud to facilitate the linkage of the remarkable EdgeBurst technology with CinemaWEAR encoding and Media Right delivery to offer instant high quality fully secured downloadable delivery of motion pictures," said Keith Friedman, president of MediaRight.
Both English and Spanish language demonstrations of EdgeBurst enabled CinemaWEAR, as well as an introductory webcast with the presidents of Kanakaris Wireless, JIBE and MediaRight, are now online at CinemaPop.com. More content and further details on the technology will be announced in the next several days by Kanakaris Wireless in conjunction with JIBE and MediaRight.
db, I think we had a nice pop the past couple of weeks and I think it will continue should revenue guidance show a continued improvement from the greatly improved Q4.
this is traditionally the slow time of year yet it appears EDIG is about to buck that trend. hoping a major OEM steps up with the O-1000 with the fall and holiday season in their cross hairs.
I think the majority of questions should be focused on the new business contracts that have come to light this year. Those are the details I am concerned about as an investor.
I think it is reasonable to request future bonuses be tied to performance either in revenue targets or PPS targets.
To rehash the past year, which was mostly the brain child of Collier, does no investor any good imo. Learn from mistakes and improve from that going forward.

chwdrhed, it is rather naive to think what has transpired over the past 24 hours was done for the benefit of educating investors.
how many message boards, do you think, fine tooth comb 10K standard language ?
drum, is edigista code for INVESTOR ? and does investment mean forward looking to anyone ?
since all of EDIG's markets are pretty much forward looking from here, to belabor the "fine print" and standard language of a annual report is an exercise in being annoying.
food for thought indeed. possibilities like that exist when a company owns the proprietary technology.
And how can we put a value on that should some day it be integrated into factory installed auto applications or technology like the msft and hewlett-packard item you highlighted ??
all forward looking and only possibilities at this point but very germane to this investment.
I thought the turn around in the 4th quarter signals the end of a long R&D history as well as a difficult first product run experience during the recession.
things are looking vastly improved on several fronts and the stock is still trading near the lows.
Unless certain, you should keep your mouth shut, as alleging criminality without hard evidence could have dire implications to innocent shareholders, causing damages, and make you the target of an investigation.
what, you don't like her broken record stylings ? I do notice how she barely commented on the big turn around in the numbers, then went right back to her previous form.
considering that we did not even experience a full quarter of Odyssey 1000 sales, and that management has stated they were on target to reach their summer goals for increased O-1000 sales, we should see continued improvement.
then there's IFE, WIRELESS and ECLIPSE.
should be something to look forward to
new 52 week high this annual year, imo.
